Sephi could actually experience a Ghibli movie if they let him go here!
Petting the dog under the blossoming trees 🥰
May I just say, Rosen’s home is one of the most beautiful locations we have seen in FF7.
Locations like the City of the Ancients and Banora were all beautiful and many of the Rebirth areas are surely going to be wonderous
But this island of Sijad in FS reminds me of some of Japan’s most famous sakura spots.
I want Miniroth to come and see this. I can’t believe he would have seen such pretty nature in his lifetime. This little story ought to be separated from mobile format one day.
Bonus:
Why did they translate Glenn saying “doggo” like that 😂
He is a Zoomer in 1992 lol.

Writing Agency in Hopeless Situations
This was prompted by a couple of people asking for clarification on the subject of survivor characters and agency.
I think a lot of writers assume that in order for a character’s actions or choices to have meaning in a story they need to be effective. That can add to this sense of not knowing what to do with a survivor character or a character who is trapped in a hopeless situation.
Whatever situation your characters are in and whatever they've survived I think it's important that they have agency. The character's hopes, dreams, wishes and actions are a big part of what make them seem like relatable people to readers. Without them characters can seem like two dimensional cut-outs or objects buffeted around by the plot.
This post is about helping you write characters with agency; characters who still have their dreams and still act in accordance to what's important to them, even in the most hopeless situations.
What can your character practically do?
It sounds like an obvious question but bear with me.
Think about what your character is physically capable of in the situation they’re in. If they’re imprisoned then what’s in the cell? If they’re forced to work what materials or tools do they have access to? Is their movement or mobility restricted? Are they under surveillance and if so how closely are they watched?
Try writing a list of things the character has access to and another of actions they could potentially take. In a survivable situation*, however hopeless, characters are usually capable of more then you think.
What are the risks?
When deciding what your character does it’s important to try and gauge the risk from their perspective. Keep in mind that a character who’s imprisoned or otherwise has difficulty finding information might not have an accurate idea of the risks.
A prisoner might have spent every day of their sentence being told by the guards that anyone who escapes is instantly caught and turned in by the surrounding townsfolk. Only to escape and find the towns people going out their way to help hide them.
Once you’ve got an idea of how risky an act is think about what would make the character take that risk. Some of them might be willing straight off the bat. Some might need to wait for the right moment or need a narrative push to get them moving.
Focus on the character and don’t be afraid to experiment. If the situation isn’t working in the story change it, change the risks and see if that works better.
Effective vs Meaningful Action
As writers it’s easy to forget that our characters should fail sometimes. It’s often tempting to write characters or scenarios where everything becomes a success.
And I think that means we often confuse meaningful action with effective action. Acts that have no immediate or practical benefit can still be moving and can still tell readers a lot about the characters.
There’s a scene in Casablanca where the main characters come downstairs into a bar to find the occupying Nazi solders have taken over the piano and are singing about ‘the fatherland’. One of the main characters goes to the house band and tells them to play La Marseillaise (the French national anthem**.) The entire bar rises to their feet singing and drowning the Nazi’s out.
It’s one of the most moving scenes in the film but practically speaking it accomplishes nothing. The bar is immediately shut down. The main character is put in danger. The Nazis still hold Casablanca.
But now we (and they) know that hold is tenuous.
Once you know what your character can practically do think about what the character’s priorities are.
No, not the ones directly related to their survival. A well rounded character will always have more to worry about then that.
It could be their family, friends or supporters. It could be an ideal (religious or political). It could be outliving their captors or making the bastards regret catching them.
A desperate situation is a chance to show your readers what the character values most as well as showing off their personality.
Your character might not be able to speak to or help their child from jail. But a religious character could pray for them. A creative character might dream up stories to tell them when they get out. An influential one might find a way to smuggle letters out.
Any of those acts is meaningful to the character, even though they don’t have a practical benefit for the prisoner.
Agency when characters are constrained
The main thing I want readers to take away from this is that trauma shouldn’t make a character stop being a character.
If you’re choosing to have your character imprisoned, tortured or enslaved as part of your story that should put constraints on what they can do, but not who they are.
It is more work to come up with ways to show off a character when their actions are limited. You have to think outside of the box and you generally can’t fall back on tropes to help you through.
But it also leads to a more emotional and more engaging story. What your characters live through has more impact when they remain a person. Readers see them struggle and desperately try to hold on to the things which are important to them. They’re more relatable and human, readers connect with them more which helps bridge the gap of lived experience.
Treat it as a chance to be inventive. And don’t be afraid to have moments in your story that are more about the characters then the plot.

*Being restrained in a way that leaves someone completely immobile and unable to talk is not survivable if it’s kept up for several days. People can easily choke or suffocate when gagged. Patients in full body restraints tend to have heart attacks. I don’t know why that happens but it’s part of the reason these restraints are a last resort.
Edit: I did indeed forget to include the second footnote.
**There’s a conversation to be had here about the fact a marker of French identity is used as a rallying cry in a colonised north African nation but I think the point of the scene comes across nonetheless.

Hi! Totally agree that Ventus and Roxas were supposed to end up as one person (Xion and Kairi too). But why do you think Nomura didn’t do that? I know you suggested that it might be because of the expectations from Roxas and Xion fans. But judging from interviews and some of his past decisions, it always seemed like Nomura’s the type to do what HE wants. I do know FFXV affected him in a big way but he has SO MUCH control over KH compared to an FF title so why bend to the will of fans so much??
- Additionally: I really feel Nomura ran himself into a corner a bit by giving weird answers to “Is Roxas Ventus?” questions. But even then he would still retcon himself in many other cases so why not this important one?
I think Nomura had a lot less freedom with KH3 than past KH titles, due to Disney.
What’s the relationship with Disney like? Disney’s attitude to games has changed in recent years to become focused on mobile and social games. Have you noticed their attitude change much?
The relationship with Disney has [remained] the same. Actually the contact person at Disney is still the same person from Kingdom Hearts 1, and Disney has given us lots of requests in terms of the Kingdom Hearts franchise and they did mention some smaller titles for other platforms, but our common, most important goal was to [complete] Kingdom Hearts 3. So it’s the same.
This interview is from June 2013, very early in development. And back then, Nomura said everything was fine and the contact person at Disney was the same.
I can say that it has actually been increasingly difficult to get approvals from Disney. That’s mainly because in the past Kingdom Hearts titles, the creator wasn’t around anymore or the team that used to create those titles wasn’t there anymore. There was just this one person that we would just have to go to and they would approve it and we’d be fine and good to go. But because we’ve been featuring recent titles, they still have existing teams for existing creators that are still working in Disney and still working on a certain title. That feedback process just has been a little bit more difficult than before. And each team would have a different set of rules and guidelines and they would say different things, or they would look at different things.
It’s just been a little different that how it used to be because Kingdom Hearts is a bigger title than it was before. I think that whenever we would bring our previous titles, a lot of people at Disney, and this is my assumption, but I do assume that they probably didn’t know what Kingdom Hearts was. They’d go, “What’s Kingdom Hearts? I have no idea.” But now that it’s become a bigger title, a lot more people have been involved in than before. In that sense the relationship with Disney has changed quite a bit. Emotional changes I don’t really know if there has been any changes emotionally for me. But at least physically I can say those were the changes that we had with Disney.
This interview is from June 2018. So, five years later. He said before that KH was kind of obscure to Disney, so he just kinda worked on it quietly in the corner. Now that it’s bigger, it was a lot more difficult to get approvals form Disney. A lot more people were involved. The relationship changed. Nomura was non-commital about whether there were “emotional changes” for him.
The Kingdom Hearts series has become a huge title nowadays and back then it was more like I was making it secretively in the corner, but now that a lot more people are involved I do feel that it’s not my title anymore, it’s everyone’s title. And just talking about all this … It actually kind of makes me really sad.
In an interview from around the same time, he fessed up. There were emotional changes for him and they were negative. KH3 became very big and Disney took a far more active role in the game’s development. It no loner felt like Nomura’s title anymore, but everyone’s title. And he feels depressed over it.
—The story’s endgame where all your friends and foes gather at the Keyblade Graveyard was a masterpiece.
I know each fan has their own different beloved character, so I wanted to give each one an appropriate moment. But in the end there was too much story that had to be told then, and I ended up being restricted to the minimum necessary to move Sora forward. The truth is, the Keyblade Graveyard was the toughest part I faced when writing the scenario. Shining the spotlight on each character one by one allows you to depict the unfolding developments with time and care, but the flow of the game requires the player to control Sora and fight battles. Ideally, I should have had characters with connections fight it out one by one and settle things that way, but that would have required too much exposition. On the other hand, I did think of limiting the number of enemies you actually battle and finishing others with cutscenes, but it didn’t feel right. At the end of deep worry and thought, I narrowed my aim and ended up with the way it is now, which prioritizes rhythm.
Other things that made me feel Nomura didn’t have full creative control? He said that in the KG, he was “restricted” to the “minimum necessary to move Sora forward”. Who told him that? Higher-ups. Seemed like he wanted the KG to have waaaay more story and exposition, but higher-ups thought it would probably be too much for a game targeted at casuals, so he had to cut it. He had deep worry and thought over it? Yeah, Nomura didn’t have real creative freedom on KH3.
“The fan expectations and excitement towards Kingdom Hearts III was much more than I had expected. I actually did feel a little pressurized for the first time pretty much in my life. But the best way to get rid of feeling pressurized is to just have confidence in yourself, that what you’re making is good.
Disney probably played a big role pressuring Nomura to make KH3 the way THEY wanted it to be and I’m sure they put pressure on him to try and make it please everyone (which never works). Fans had certain expectations and Disney was aware of that. So, every popular character had to be brought back. Disney didn’t care, really. They just thought if every popular character came back, they could make more $$$.
“I do have a general storyline in my head. What is the most confusing is that, because there are so many characters in this storyline now, it’s hard to keep track of who actually met who already. I’m always like, ‘Okay, so who knows who in this situation, and who’s meeting this person for the first time?’ And that always gets really confusing.”
I don’t think it was Nomura wish, though. Nomura flat out said there were “too many characters”. He had a hard time remembering who has met who. He’s had the idea for KH3′s story since the end of KH2. If he can’t even keep track of who has met who, how well planned was all these characters coming back? The scene in Yen Sid’s tower where Axel got confused about the Roxas/Ventus thing felt like it was written to vent Nomura’s frustration with the story and make fun of how silly it is.

WHY I LOST MY KID
A Message to all EDUCATORS, PARENTS, AND TO THE WHOLE PLAN ON THIS DISTANT LEARNING
So much guilt. I ask and tell myself so many questions and so many different reasons. Why did he take his own life? We love him so much. Me and the rest of my family always did our best to give all the things that he asked for but at the end, still no answer. WHY?
My son JINO was a very intelligent kid. Ever since his kinder days and even until he graduated grade school, he was always on top of his class, always averaging 90+, and even passing all the tests to join the SPECIAL SCIENCE section in Education and Training Center School and Negros Occ, High School which is an elite group of students with advanced curriculum, the cream of a crop in their school. My kid had never failed a subject nor tasted a grade lower than 90. He was an IDOL to most of his classmates.
JINO was also such a lovable and kind kid. He was so sweet [malambing to the max]. At home with just his mom and I, he would sit on my side or ask me to join him on the bed and would just embrace and kiss me nonstop until I complained of my wet face. He never complains but just follows as he is told [he will just cry a little or show a sad face as a sign of complaint]. It is his way of showing me love.
What triggered him to take his own life? In his 7th grade (1st year high school), he was devastated to have received a grade of 80 on his very 1st grading, with which I considered as only a very minor subject (Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao EsP or Good Manners and Right Conduct). The rest of his major subjects such as Math and Science were all 90+. With this, I scolded him and limited his time on games with his gadgets.
What could he have been thinking?
What’s going to happen if I am removed from the elite section?...
Where will I be transferred?...
What would my parents think?...
What would my friends and classmates say behind my back?...
When can I get back my freedom to play with my gadgets?...
I am so guilty. Why was I so strict with my kid? Why did I deprive him of his cellphone just because of a “failed” grade? Why did he not tell me? Why did I not notice the inner problems of my kid? Why does his mother have to work, preventing the most important bond between a mother and a kid?
The passing grade of the special science section is 85 but he got an 80 on that one minor subject. What will happen if he fails again due to this incompetent and heartless teacher who not did care about the feelings of the students during this pandemic period of our time? Giving him this grade of 80, knowing this would take him out of the special section, directly posting this on his report card without informing nor consulting with us parents of the problem. My kid was such a kind and soft boy, who would just keep his problems within himself, facing them alone.
He was being tortured internally time and time again that on the 25th of January his mind gave way and opened the door for the DEVIL to come in.
This failed grade, as a father, pushed me to get angry that I scolded him and confiscated his brand-new cellphone because of this Mobile Legends game that has consumed the brain and time of our kids. (It is a violent game that has lots of killings. [I hope the Government restricts these violent games from our kids]. I feel guilty because I didn’t try to find the reason for his failed grade. And why were we not informed by the teacher of the problem? It is not fair to fail my kid, or ANY KID, during this pandemic period with remote learning especially on a subject like ESP [moral values]. If you haven’t personally known your student, how can you evaluate them on his values during distant learning.
Why have I not seen the burden inside my kid? Why did I not see the problem inside his mind? This is because the bonding we had was more on man’s responsibility and activities rather than inner problems and feelings.
I am retired and his mother is working from morning till late afternoon. This is a call to all PARENTS. Please don’t take for granted your bonding moments with your kid. One of the most important things for your children is to open up their inner problems or frustrations. Give your kids the very precious time to open up to you, PARENTS.
To all educators, you are the second parents of your students. Give them your HEART not only their grades because education is not only of the mind but also of LOVE, FAMILY and GOD. “THINK BEFORE YOU GRADE.” MAY GOD FORGIVE YOU…
ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS
1. GENRE (5 points)
What is the type of text?
A text that explores pain and grief.
2. AUDIENCE (10 points)
Who is the text aimed at?
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
What audience did the writer have in mind?
Educators and parents
3. PURPOSE (5 points)
What does the text want you to do?
As a student and as a child of my parents, education is important but life is the most important. If you know as a student that you give all of your best to your study especially in todays new learning system and your educator/school teacher give you a lower grade, don't give up to your life. Grade is just a number, you can live/you can breath with a low grade. If you used to be used to always having a high grade, you will now also get used to being given an average or low grade. You will not stay in school forever and you will not stay a student forever, you will also be a teacher, not to students but to children/people who need or want to learn. Be responsible to your life not just about your education.
4. LANGUAGE (10 points)
Is the language persuasive, informative, descriptive?
Descriptive
Is the language more suited towards adults or children- make sure you have evidence to support your conclusions?
It's more suitable for adults to know and to learn that children will be still children. They easily get tired so they need to cheer them always especially in the times that they sre having a breakdown.
5. INFORMATION (5 points)
Is the information in the text factual, opinion or a mixture of both?
It's a mixture of both.
6. STYLE (5 points)
How is the text presented?
It gives facts about the new learning system and how both educators, parents and students face it. We all have difficulty with this system. Not just teachers, not just students and not just parents. Everyone should be aware that we are not equally motivated in daily life especially in what we are going through now with a severe disaster. It is not easy to teach and it is not easy to learn so we should always cheer up each other for the sake of our hearts in our journeys.
7. TONE (10 points)
What evidence supports your conclusion?
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Does the writer used a lot of facts to help convey a serious tone? Or does the writer/ speaker use a passionate tone to persuade or to show you how strongly they feel about the topic?
The writer use a passionate tone to show how he strongly feel about his story. It was his own experience that he did not want other parents like him to experience. Even if his story is not more on facts, his readers will immediately agree with his story because they know and they feel the emotions of the writer.

1. GENRE
What is the type of text?
Base on the information provided above, the text is a Facebook text-only page post where the writer expressed his grief upon losing his son and concern about the new educational system. As I was reading, the text is a narrative speech where the author stated his experiences and traits of his late son as well as calling for an action and awareness base on their situation.
2. AUDIENCE
Who is the text aimed at?
Base on my comprehension, the text is an awareness for parents and the way they treat and discipline their children. The message is for the parents upon considering their children’s feelings and burden too. Also, the text is voicing out consideration from teachers in this time of pandemic where everyone is struggling to adjust to the new normal especially the students.
What audience did the writer have in mind?
As I was reading, I have noticed that the writer was thinking about the parents and teachers as the main audiences of his Facebook status. My analysis was based by the way the writer constructed his words and sentences and the way he delivered his story and objectives. Again, the objectives of his Facebook status is to give awareness about children’s mental health in this time of pandemic and the help of consideration and compassion upon combating depression and negative outcomes brought by the new normal education system.
3. PURPOSE
What does the text want you to do?
As I said earlier, the objectives/aim/purpose of the tect is to give awareness and importance to mental health especially in this time of pandemic where everyone is struggling to adjust to the new normal system. The text is calling out for an action from the people to be considerate and compassionate with each other especially with students who are feeling a lot of pressure and unmotivated on these times.
4. LANGUAGE
Is the language persuasive, informative, descriptive?
The languages that are used is both persuasive and descriptive. The writer tried to persuade the readers/audiences about giving importance to mental health in this time of pandemic by using descriptive language upon stating his experiences and feelings towards these experiences.
Is the language more suited towards adults or children- make sure you have evidence to support your conclusions?
Base on the language/s that is/are used, the language suits more on adult audiences since it is more like an advocacy and awareness that requires mature thinking and comprehension from adults. Also, there were mentions of violence such as suicide that are recommended for ages 13+ and the text is out of the children’s interest so it really suits more on adult audiences.
5. INFORMATION (5 points)
Is the information in the text factual, opinion or a mixture of both?
The information that are stated in the Facebook status are opinions, insights, and emotions of the writer to the situation of he and his family experienced because of the new normal system. Although lots of people agreed to his statements and claims it cannot be considered as factual unless confirmed on studies and by experts.
6. STYLE (5 points)
How is the text presented?
The text is presented in paragraph forms. There are shown obvious emphasis on significant words and phrases by capitalizing or italicizing words, phrases and sentences. Also, there are used presentation devices such as headings and bold features on words especially on the title. There are no used pictures or other graphical designs concluding to aim at older audiences.
7. TONE (10 points)
What evidence supports your conclusion?
The tone of the text is sad and gloomy. To support my conclusion, the writer used emphasis on the important messages he wants his audience to remember by writing it in all capital letters as well as to emphasize the subject of the text which is his late son. Some of his statements that he capitalized are his thoughts and opinions about the new system we are living now as well as his feelings towards the incident they experienced.
Does the writer used a lot of facts to help convey a serious tone? Or does the writer/ speaker use a passionate tone to persuade or to show you how strongly they feel about the topic?
The text is more of an opinion or insight about a certain circumstance that is cause by a particular event so the writer used a passionate tone to convey his thoughts and feelings about the topic to the audiences. He stated some of his opinions about the new normal education system and mobile games which shows a persuasive tone for people to agree with the writer.

Outdoor Activities for Seniors and the Elderly: 5 Ideas they Will Enjoy
The great outdoors; it's something that some, if not everyone, absolutely love and enjoy. It doesn't just give one a breath of fresh air: it also has a lot of benefits on one's health! This is one reason why experts suggest some outdoor activities for seniors and the elderly. Spending time outside exercising, or even just enjoying the scenery, helps in keeping one's mind sharper and mood, happier.
Not only that, engaging in outdoor activities will also improve their physical health, mobility, and sense of well-being. With that being said, some seniors who choose to live alone might have a hard time achieving this.
There are a lot of reasons why an elderly might not be able to enjoy outdoor activities. Here are some of them:
1. They live alone in their homes. Some seniors who choose to live alone tend to be isolated from the outside world. This happens when after the loss of a spouse or friends, or even children. This sense of melancholy will increase if they rarely step outside of their homes.
Some seniors choose to engage with group activities (book clubs, volunteering, etc.) to maintain social interaction. However, it is believed that spending time with nature decreases loneliness, and increases serotonin levels.
2. They are restricted by physical limitations. This is probably one of the most common reasons why seniors tend to be cooped up in their homes instead of going outside. Physical limitations like not being able to walk long distances, bone problems, and others leave them with no choice but the comfort of their homes. This also limits them from fulfilling daily tasks like grocery shopping.
Fortunately, there are electric mobility scooters available in the market today. These electric rideables will allow them to go wherever they want and need to go, and will increase their mobility by the numbers.
There is a plethora of things one can do outside their own homes, In this article, we will give you some outdoor activities that seniors would surely enjoy!
Outdoor Activities for Seniors
There is a wide variety of things seniors can enjoy outdoors. Most of these activities are easy for their caregivers or loved ones to arrange. Some they can even set themselves! With the right equipment and mindset, these outdoor activities are possible.
Let's take a look at five simple outdoor activity ideas every senior citizen will love!
1. Gardening - this is probably one of the most popular outdoor activities among seniors. Gardening can make a good exercise or a simple form of relaxation. It maintains their flexibility, strength, and allows them to stay active. Moreover, gardening of crops can even be a fruitful source of food. This will allow them access to sustainable living, and even give them a sense of accomplishment.
2. Cycling - this activity is for those who are generally stronger and experience less physical limitations. Cycling has multiple benefits on one's health. It allows one to get much-needed cardio, and it helps build resilience. Some also go cycling in groups, which then helps them become more socially active.
To fully enjoy this outdoor activity, seniors often prefer electric bikes or electric trikes over the usual manual bicycles. This is because of the easy-to-use features that lets them make the most out of their riding experience.
3. Strolling around the neighborhood - this one is definitely one of the simplest outdoor activities seniors can enjoy. A simple walk around the neighborhood with a group of friends, or even family, can impact their mood and disposition in general. A good walk can also provide much-needed cardio, and have a calming effect on someone.
This is also the most accessible form of outdoor activity. Most wouldn't have the need for special equipment, except maybe for suitable footwear. Moreover, those with limited mobility can also enjoy this leisurely activity with trusty electric mobility scooters or electric wheelchairs. In a sense, it's an activity that can be enjoyed by anyone in any level of capacity!
4. Golfing- this activity is popular among retirement communities. Golf is known as a good and entertaining way to spend time outdoors. It is also a relaxing activity for some, and it helps them improve their coordination. It might look like a simple sport, but golfing also provides light exercises that every senior needs.
With the use of golf carts and mobility scooters (if allowed), going around driving ranges wouldn't be a problem. These electric vehicles can accommodate those who have problems with walking or standing for long periods of time.
5. Picnic - now this one is a classic. A picnic, however elaborate or simple it might be, is a good way to bask under the sun and soak up that much-needed Vitamin D. It is also a form of social activity that will allow seniors to have conversations with their friends, or even caregivers. Not only that, they are also able to enjoy beautiful and entertaining sceneries.
Fresh air is a good source of relaxation and has a lot of positive benefits to one's health, and a picnic will allow seniors to enjoy that with a bite or two!
Now that we have given some outdoor activity ideas for seniors, let's look at why one should consider trying them!
Benefits of Outdoor Activities for Seniors
Advantages of spending time outdoors have been well-documented over the years. This applies not just to seniors, but to people of all ages. In this part, we will enumerate some benefits of outdoor activities that will help alleviate the challenges the elderly face.
It helps improve bone health. This is a common problem among elderly women. Bone diseases like osteoporosis cause the bones to become weak and brittle, that even bending over or coughing can cause a fracture. One of the main causes of this is inadequacy in Vitamin D levels. Vitamin D improves the body's ability to absorb calcium. And what is the most common source of Vitamin D? Yes, you got that right. Sunlight. Therefore, exposure to early-morning sunlight for at least 15 minutes a day is advisable for seniors facing this challenge. Moreover, regular exercise is also a must. Outdoor activities like biking or walking around the neighborhood are good choices for this.
It improves their mental health. Studies and even first-hand accounts have shown that seniors who spend more time outdoors experience less depression and anxiety. Those who engage in activities like running, cycling, or walking outside have lessened the risk of mental health problems compared to those who choose to exercise at home.
Being one with nature brings about more positive feelings. Those who are unable to go out and do rigorous physical activities can enjoy the scenery, smell fresh flowers, and even feel sand on their feet.
It gives them abundant energy. Just like any other person, being outdoors give seniors a greater sense of energy and liveliness. It makes them feel more alive, and these can greatly impact their resilience to illness. Not only that, spending time outdoors doing various activities may boost one's memory. A study has shown that there is a 20-percent improvement in attention span and memory retention after spending one hour with nature. This means that spending more time outside will result to greater gains in memory, and may improve creativity as well.
It promotes better over-all health. Aside from the physical and mental stability outdoor activities ensure, there are more health-related benefits one can get from doing so. As mentioned above, being outside increases levels of Vitamin D. This nutrient is often low among seniors. Increasing its levels would help reduce risk a number of physical ailments like multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and even heart attack.
Additionally, being outside may help improve one's immunity. This happens when there is a boost in white blood cells, and improvements might last longer than expected. Being in touch with nature may also aid in recovery from physical injuries or some illnesses.
Seniors and the elderly benefit so much from engaging in outdoor activities. Keep in mind though, that these activities are advised to be done in groups, or enjoyed with friends and other people who share the same experiences. This way, seniors, especially those who are isolated, are able to gain more social interaction. These activities will also let them engage with other people. Time spent with other people may give them a sense of belonging, and something to look forward to everyday. It may make all the difference in their life, and those around them too.
Moreover, such outdoor activities will help those with limited mobility regain their freedom, and allow them to enjoy life as they know it!
Electric Mobility for Seniors and the Elderly
As we have mentioned earlier in this article, electric rides like e-bikes and e-trikes are preferred by more senior citizens. This is because they are easier to use, and even more practical than the manual bikes we see on the streets.
In addition to these, mobility aids like electric mobility scooters are often used by those in the same demographic. The electric rideable products have helped them enjoy things they did when they were younger and more capable. These power scooters also let them be more productive and active in their everyday lives.
Realizing these, electric rideable distributors like E-Ride Solutions in Australia are now working to make these products more accessible.
So, if you are a senior who wants to enjoy all of these activities and benefits, or know someone who would, don't hesitate to get in touch with us! Just visit our website at www.eridesolutions.com.au, or call our toll-free number. Our friendly staff will be more than happy to assist you!

Currently, SEO web design is the most promoted product for the online businesses to achieve their sales targets. Yes, fetching a good traffic from Google or other search leading engines is being possible with SEO campaigns. On-page optimization, off-page optimization, and technical factors are the three prime elements of bringing SEO success for a website. So, the need of SEO friendly programming language can be fulfilled with PHP. For a better search engine visibility of the web pages, the web developers should follow the following tips while developing a SE friendly website.
• Clean URL structure:
Dynamic URLs and season IDs in URL are not good so the developer need to use a unique PHPSESSID variable. If the season IDs will be included in URLs so, the search engines will treat a single page with different season IDs as different pages. It leads to duplicate content which is punishable by search engines.
Use keyword rich permalinks with url_rewriter tags, which makes the URLs friendly for both search engines and visitors. Also decrease the use of special characters other than the hyphen (-) symbol.
• Avoid canonical errors:
Search engines treat www and non-www sites differently if also they contain the same content. Duplicate content issue may arise, so use 301 redirection. In this concern the PHP developers need to spend more time on the homepage as the site.com/index.php will be treated as different to site.com.
• Putting right heading and bold tags:
Optimizing the website for search engines in the development period carries a lot of responsibilities and adds more tasks for the web developers. Creating a dynamic header (header.php) and using unique values for Meta of singular web pages is a must do act for designing an SEO website. So, at the time of coding, using of page-specific PHP variables get’s the work done. $pageTitle, $pageDescription, $pageCanonical, $pageKeywords, $pageRobots, etc are the significant SEO stuffs for On-page optimization of a PHP website. Also, using H1, H2, H3 and <strong> attributes in a webpage improves it’s indexing possibility.
• Cross browser issues:
In this mobile web age, we can’t rely upon the desktop users only as the growth rate of internet on mobile browsers created a milestone in the last few years. SEO is now promoting user experience and the cross browser compatibility will surely impress both visitors and the search engines. Coding a responsive or mobile friendly website using PHP language is not a hard task for the experienced web developers.
• Navigation and links:
Both of these are vital in bringing SEO success for a website. It is proved that the Google and others like easy to navigate websites. So, use texts based navigation as well as try to have breadcrumbs which provide more flexibility for a user for browsing the site effortlessly. Links, both inbound and outbound, carry the scores of getting good link juice. Using diverse and relevant anchor texts for hyperlinks and declaring rel=nofollow/dofollow attributes is advised.
Advantages of PHP (compared to ASP):
The accessories or software required for a functional web server for PHP websites, i.e. Linux OS, Apache server, MySQL server, and PHP can be installed or upgraded at free of cost with no restriction. But the MS Windows Server and MS SQL Server (used for ASP) licenses need to be purchased which proves PHP is cost effective.
ASP.net holds about double time for coding or deployment than PHP so, choosing PHP is wise for the busy web developers concerning time.
Talking about support, as an open source platform, PHP (with LAMP - (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) has a lot of resources and support options.
According to most of the research data sources, the communication between PHP and MySQL is a little bit faster than ASP.net and MSSQL. Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Wikipedia, YouTube, etc like some high traffic websites are using MySQL so there is no doubt about the performance of PHP’s preferred database management system i.e. MySQL (by Oracle).
The ext4 file system of Linux OS (supports PHP) has a better performance record than MS Windows OS’s NTFS (used for ASP) during Input/output (IO) process.
The Linux web servers with LAMP platform use comparatively fewer server resources, i.e. CPU and Memory.
The PHP developers got the flexibility choose their own editor, but this feature is not associated with ASP. Using VI and VIM editors, the PHP developers get access to use and integrate other important platforms like Ajax, JavaScript, JQuery, etc due to developing on an open source platform.
PHP is supported on any OS platforms like Linux, Mac (Mac OS X), UNIX and Windows also. But ASP is limited to only with MS Windows OS.

How to survive a Google Algorithm Change or Update
Each time a new Google update is rolled out, the moans and groans from webmasters, bloggers, and internet writers whose traffic seemingly fell off a cliff can be heard across internet forums.
Survivors chime in too, tentatively claiming victory, although accompanied with the uneasy feeling that maybe they only dodged the Google bullet this time.
Yet, these "unlucky" and "lucky" internet content providers often have this in common: they have no understanding of why the most recent Google update caused their site's search engine traffic to either sink or survive.
But ranking well in Google SERPs does not have to be a mystery.
In reality, Google SEO is as simple as black and white.
Google Panda and Penguin
Website owners dependent on traffic via Google understand that a sudden loss in traffic may mean a sudden drop in income. During 2011 and 2012 this was the case as Google changed their search algorithm with the Panda and Penguin updates.
The over-arching goal of Google's search algorithm updates is to return higher quality sites to users. Yet, it seems as though Panda and Penguin have been unfairly blamed for the traffic loss that many websites have experienced.
Remember the old saying about blame: when pointing a finger, three are pointing back. Sure Google is setting its "rules" for who gets to play in its top-search-results playground, but the only thing that website publishers, bloggers, and writers can do is examine and change their own body of internet work.
Black Hat SEO vs. White Hat SEO
Perhaps the names of the most recent Google updates, Panda and Penguin, provide insight into Google's expectations for pages to rank high in its search engine results.
Think about it:
Question - What do a panda and a penguin have in common?
Answer - They are both black and white.
To those in-the-know about all things SEO, black and white are very meaningful terms, as in black hat SEO and white hat SEO. Whether or not Google is attempting to humorously pass this subliminal black and white message along through their update names really does not matter. What is important is understanding that each can have a major impact on search engine rank. Simply put, Google penalizes sites employing black hat techniques and rewards those using white hat SEO.
What is black hat SEO?
Black hat SEO involves exploiting a weakness in search engine algorithms in order to gain rank. Keyword-stuffing, web-spamming, link schemes, cloaking and doorway pages are just a few black hat techniques. According to Wendy Brown, web search guide for About.com, in Black Hat Search Engine Optimization, black hat SEO characteristically:
Breaks search engine rules
Creates a poor user experience
Unethically presents information differently to search engine spiders and users
What is white hat SEO?
On the other hand, white hat SEO enhances the user's experience. According to Webopedia, the term white hat SEO refers to...
"...the usage of SEO strategies, techniques and tactics that focus on a human audience [as] opposed to search engines and completely follows search engine rules and policies."
Google Webmaster Guidelines
The good news is that the key to achieving good Google search engine rank is not a secret. In fact, Google publicizes it for anyone to read. Google Webmaster Guidelines is a must-read, providing a list of, and explanations for:
Design and content guidelines
Technical guidelines
Quality guidelines
Google is very clear about their expectations, strongly stating that,
"Webmasters who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit."
User is King
The goal of the Google Panda and Penguin algorithm changes is to return higher quality sites to users - sites that provide a great user experience and meet their information needs.
It's often been said that "content is king" but perhaps the new mantra should be "user is king." Certainly creating essential, high-quality, and unique content is almost mandatory to achieve good rank and must not be overlooked; after all the user's information needs must be fulfilled.
But spend time reading Google Webmaster Guidelines and the official Google Webmaster Central Blog, and very quickly it becomes apparent that the user's experience is the heart and soul of Google's focus. Over and over the user's experience and usability of a site are touted.
Journalism students are often taught to know their audience. Likewise, web content providers should consider their audience, and determine what type of experience their audience expects; what would make their page far more compelling than the next one about the same subject?
Google engineer, Matt Cutts explains in his April 2012 post Another Step to Reward High-quality Sites on the Webmaster Central blog that,
"Good search engine optimization ... mean[s] ... thinking about creative ways to make a site more compelling, which can help with search engines as well as social media."
How to create compelling, creative sites with the user in mind
The best writers are the ones that can put themselves in their intended audience's shoes and provide the best web content and experience for that particular audience. But it is important to realize that content goes beyond the written word. Make no mistake about it, words can be compelling, especially when it is clear the author has first-hand knowledge, but the internet is not an old black and white static newspaper.
Be creative! Compelling content has to do with engaging your audience, keeping them on the page longer, maybe even causing them to share.
Example 2: Or suppose you turn to the internet to find a recipe for chocolate cake. Do you find the recipe that has a photo of the ingredients needed to bake the cake or the recipe that showcases the author's photo of a slice of the moist chocolate cake more engaging?
Example 1: Suppose you are a first-time mom who just can't figure out how to get her crying baby to burp. What would be more compelling... an article on how to burp a baby maybe with a stock photo of a baby and mom included, or an article on how to burp a baby with a video showing the technique? Perhaps you might even share the video with your mom's group.
Example 4: You are searching for fun birthday party ideas; you come across a website that is very slow to load and when it finally finishes is full of ads and clutter. You next visit a page with ten fun birthday party ideas, listed 1-10 with a pleasing amount of white space, photos, and a rapid load time. Which are you more likely to read and perhaps share?
Example 3: Perhaps you are trying to find a healthy way to make delicious homemade french fries. Is the recipe you find on the internet that is simply text, ingredients and instructions, more engaging, or the recipe that provides step-by-step photos, perhaps a video, nutrition facts, user ratings and comments?
Google SEO is all about the human audience
When the human audience is the focus of search engine optimization, both the website content provider and the user win. Content providers will be pleased to no longer have to try to stay on top of the latest black hat SEO trends, but rather focus their expertise into great content.
Users will be pleased to find authoritative, unique and compelling content that meets their information needs, highly-ranked and easy to find in Google results. Additionally, users will often find that the content is creative and engaging, and worth sharing. It's as simple as black and white.

The use of metadata by search engines, including meta keywords, has changed extensively throughout the years. While many of the rules regarding metadata remain the same, it is now an area of lesser importance when it comes to SEO. That said, meta tag optimization is still an important aspect of search engine optimization, so it is important to employ many of these so-called "deprecated" techniques to ensure high SERP rankings Following these rules pertaining to metadata can help ensure a site's high ranking in search results. While Google does not use metadata for site rankings, there still are search engines that do. A variety of websites and syndication services also rely on metadata. Furthermore, Google even pulls your site's description from your metadata for use in the SERPs. While meta tag optimization is still useful, it's important to note that there is no reason to stress out over metadata. This article is meant to serve as an informational piece on how metadata is used today as well as noting its much greater historical importance. Feel free to comment, however, on your thoughts and feelings (particularly on the modern usage of meta tags and meta data in SEO.)
What is Metadata? What are Meta Tags?
Metadata provides information about a site. This information gives search engines clues regarding what a site is about. Since metadata is hidden away in a site's markup, visitors can't see it, but search engines can. There are several types of metadata, but we're going to talk about the three most important parts that make up meta tag optimization: meta keywords, meta descriptions, and the robot tag.
Meta descriptions are actually one of the few things that visitors will see, but they won't see it on your site. Here is an example: Bob has a site about sports cars and in his meta description, he has written, "The ultimate guide to European and American sports cars." When someone searches on Google for the term "sports cars," Bob's site may show up in the results. If it does, the listing will show his meta description. In short, meta descriptions tell people what a site is about before they even visit it.
What Do Meta Keywords Do?
Meta keywords work very similar to meta descriptions, but instead of telling Internet users what a site is about, it tells the search engine. Here is an example: Lisa's site is about Georgia peaches. In her meta keywords, she has written, "Georgia peaches, peaches from Georgia, peach orchards" By writing these keywords, Lisa is telling search engines that her site is about Georgia peaches, peaches from Georgia, and peach orchards. Annette searches in a search engine for the term "peaches from Georgia." Since Lisa's site has this phrase in its meta keywords, the search engine may show Lisa's website to Annette in the search listings.
Why You Need Meta Data
Meta information is very important to a site's well being when it comes to SEO. The part of SEO that deals with metadata is known as meta tag optimization. Many people say that you don't need meta keywords because "Google doesn't use metadata in their algorithm and since Google is the most popular search engine, there's no need to use them." That is a myth. While there is no argument that Google is the most popular search engine in the world, Google also reportedly does not use metadata as a way to weigh sites. Still, it's a bad idea to ignore meta tag optimization. Here's why:
Other search engines use meta keywords in their algorithms and although they won't make up the larger portion of a site's traffic, it is traffic the site may not be getting if it didn't have meta keywords.
Google doesn't care about meta keywords at all, so no sites will be penalized by Google for having meta keywords.
Meta tags are easy to add. It's as simple as adding a tiny bit of HTML right after your <head> tag. Many content management systems even do all the work for you. Those using something like Wordpress are blessed with the number of plug-ins available that help out with metadata.
Google uses meta descriptions to give searchers more information about your site. Without a meta description, Google will hand-pick something from the site it feels is relevant to what the searcher is looking for. While this can be helpful, having a clean and well-written meta description can really entice searchers that YOUR site is the one they are looking for. While it has no impact on a site's ranking, it can help click-through rates.
How to Add Metadata
Each site has a main page or an index page. In the file for this page, a web developer or site admin, should is to look for the open head tag: <head>. Right after this tag, the site admin should enter their metadata. The following example shows what metadata should look like:
Metadata Mistakes
There are a few easily fixable problems that people run into when they are optimizing their metadata. For example, sometimes metadata is set up to disallow search engines from indexing a site. There are a few reasons webmasters set their sites up to block search engine, but those creating websites for SEO purposes should make sure search engines are NOT blocked. If a website isn't being indexed in the search engines, generally the first thing a webmaster will do is make sure their robots tag is not blocking search engines. By default, if a site does NOT have a robot tag, search engines will index it. Many webmasters write a robot tag that essentially says "allow search engines to index this", but this is unnecessary as search engines will only avoid indexing a site if there is a robot tag that disallows them from doing so. (Or if it's been blacklisted, but that's a whole different issue.) Another problem that people run into is giving search engines too much information. Sites are allowed a max of 10 keywords in their metadata. Here's an example: Lisa's site has three meta keywords which are "Georgia peaches, peaches from Georgia, peach orchards." Gina, who is Lisa's competition has 12 keywords which are "peaches from Georgia, Georgia peaches, peach orchards, peach orchard, peaches, Georgia, Georgia peaches, Gina's peach stand, juicy peaches, peaches from the south, ripe peaches, fresh peaches" Because Gina has more than 10 keywords and Lisa has only 3, Lisa stands a better chance of doing well in the search engine. The same rule applies to meta descriptions, except web developers are allowed a max of 150 characters for meta descriptions. Remember that it's 150 characters and not 150 words. While this isn't one of the biggest SEO mistakes a web developer can make, it still can negatively affect search engine rankings.
There is always a hype surrounding Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and websites will do almost anything including selling there mother to have a good SEO Ranking with Google. SEO has become a big business now on the internet has people have actually become experts in the art of good Search Engine Optimization. There are many jobs now available through SEO alone.

Search Engine Optimization is Also Known As SEO
This is the first part of a three part series on search engine optimization or SEO.
In this section, we'll discuss how search engines work and why search engine optimization is important.
In the second section, we'll discuss basic techniques and important factors in SEO and search rankings.
And, in the final section of this guide we'll discuss how to maintain and continually improve SEO long term.
What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is optimizing your content to drive search engine traffic to your work.
It involves gaining a thorough understanding of how search engines work and then reflecting that knowledge in your writing and webpage design to maximize traffic to and user experience on your page.
SEO is important because search engines like Google, YAHOO!, and Bing drive the majority of web traffic. Shares on social media can cause short term spikes in stats, but real, long term success comes from maximizing search engines ability to drive traffic to your page.
Not only will good SEO improve search rankings and increase traffic for the author, but it helps people interested in your topic find your page and improves the viewer's experience as well.
SEO involves strategically using appropriate keywords, building links to your work and making your pages search engine friendly. Although it is important to understand what SEO is, it is also important to understand what SEO isn't. While SEO can make a big difference in stats, it cannot fix bad writing or poor content. SEO can make good writing into a great, high performing webpage, but it cannot turn poor content into good writing.
How Search Engines Work
Search Engines use "spiders" or "crawlers" to build an index of the webpages available, the words on each page, and where on the page those words were located. These program robots begin on popular webpages and add important words found on the page to the search engine's index. From there, they follow every link on the page and index the corresponding pages before using the links on those pages to go to the next set of pages, and so on and so forth. This process is known as crawling.
Once this information is gathered by the spiders, it is encoded and stored for indexing. In order to even out the difference between the time needed to search a term beginning with a popular letter like 't' and a search term beginning with a less popular letter like 'q,' a numerical value is applied to each word. This process is known as hashing. Not only does hashing even out problems related to letter frequency, but it condenses the index. Only the numerical value and a link to the actual information is stored in the index. This increases index and search speed, especially with more complicated searches that involve multiple words.
When a user performs a search, he or she types a query into the search box. Boolean operators can be used to define specific relationships between the terms in a query. Some of the most common operators are:
AND-requires that both terms are on the page
OR-requires that one term or the other is on the page
NOT-excludes pages that include the following term
NEAR-requires that two terms be near each other on the page
"quotation marks"-requires the query be treated as a phrase, instead of each significant word in the query being considered an individual keyword
FOLLOWED BY-requires that one term be followed by another
These searches are defined as literal searches. Research is currently underway on concept based searching which uses statistics statistical analysis of webpages containing your query to recommend pages you might be interested in, as well as natural language searching which allows users to type a question into the search box using the simple language they would use to ask a friend their question instead of using Boolean operators.
There's More than One Search Engine
Each search engine uses different rules for determining which words are indexed and which words aren't. Some search engines index every word on the page. Others focus on the most common words, the words in titles and subtitles, meta tags and the first few lines of text.
If you've ever tried searching the same phrase on different search engines, you probably noticed that you got different results. This is because each engine uses different algorithms to weight and index keywords and determine search result rankings. Search engine ranking algorithms use website popularity, meta tags, number of back links (links to the page), keyword frequency and location and a wide variety of other factors to rank webpages and how well they correlate to viewer searches.
In addition to relevance, website popularity is taken into account in determining search rankings. As more interested users are directed to your page by your SEO techniques, not only will the techniques increase your relevancy scores, but the popularity component of the ranking algorithms will increase as well.
(For more concrete information on specific ranking factors and their relative weight please see this website.)
Your Audience is Important in SEO
Now that you know how search engines function, we need to consider how users interact with search engines. To conduct a search, the user types a few keywords into the search box and clicks enter, browses the results and selects a page to visit. If the user is unsatisfied, he or she will return to the search and select another result or modify their query for a new result list.
People perform searches because they a) want to go somewhere specific on the web b) want to do something specific or c) learn a piece of information. In order to create a high performing webpage, you need to think like your user.
Ask yourself how many of your audience's needs can be met on your page. Add additional, relevant content that meets these needs to attract more viewers and happier views. Then ask yourself if your audience can find your page. What queries might your target audience put into the search engine? Are those keywords found in your titles, subtitles, alt text, summary and first few sentences?
Remember, building content for your users will lead to better results than trying to build pages for search engines.

Transcending borders and connecting global imaginaries
by Lindi Mngxitama
Playing at the Antigel Festival for SHAP SHAP has always been a dream of mine, especially after watching videos of FAKA’s performances there over the years. It was probably due to the nature of COVID-19 making electronic music more accessible globally, and me choosing to focus on promoting myself globally — because there wasn't an option of shows and stuff like that during lockdown — that made the opportunity to be able to play a festival like this possible. Overall, it was an awesome experience, and although it was virtual it still felt like I was on a global stage amongst some really great artists.
Says producer and Roses are Red record label founder Rose Bonica speaking about SHAP SHAP’s annual programme at Antigel Festival, but more specifically, speaking about the 6th edition of WHAT’S UP?. Creatively connecting people and using physical and digital stages to take action against global inequalities and discrimination, this year’s Antigel Festival found itself evolving in form and having to adapt in its possibilities of engagement due to the pandemic all of the world has been — and is still currently living through — in all of our varying and intersecting realities across the globe. “Over the last years ANTiGEL Festival has grown to become one of the largest cultural events in Geneva. By bringing artistic experience to parts of the city that are detached from this kind of engagement, the festival aims to be a reminder of the importance of making spaces for arts and culture”, remaining committed to this mission even within the setting of our current pandemic dystopian reality. This year’s ANTIGEL X SHAP SHAP WHAT’S UP? programme was curated in collaboration with Johannesburg's own Cuss Group, DJ, artist and self-named proud eurolatina Anita Kirppis (Geneva-San Salvador), Maïté Chénière AKA DJ Mighty (Geneva) and BATEKOO (Rio de Janeiro).
A non-profit organisation founded in 2015, SHAP SHAP is invested in taking action against global inequalities, racial and gender discriminations through artistic cultural projects. The festival’s curatorial and creative methodology is one rooted in collaboration — with both artists and scholars, to contribute to: “1) strengthening the artistic, social, political and economic status of emerging and off-the-grid artists from the Global South and from minorities who need support to emerge locally and internationally 2) facilitating international mobility 3) raising awareness on inequalities and discriminations 4) fostering dialogues”. The program at Grand Central STREAM Antigel 2021 unfolded over a course of 23 days from February 5th - 27. Self-named as eurolatina in a move towards the search for a better understanding of her identity because as Anita expresses:
I left my country very young (El Salvador) to come to Europe. A that time I was still searching to understand my identity as I was defined as a Salvadorian immigrant in Europe but when I was coming back to see my family every year I felt [like a] ‘foreigner’ in my own country. In a constant back and forth in every part of my life, even in my art studies I was lost. Nowadays, half of my life it has been built in Europe with codes, cultural and political references that I’ve mixed up with my Salvadorian background. I think that I’m finally embracing this richness and the complexity of this multiple identity and I’m more aware to reflect this on my dj sets. Kirppis’ Central America What’s Up, kicked off the festivities and in our conversation reflecting on the experience she shares that: Being part of this project, it was like I found allies who do things with careness and understanding about the issues that me or any other artist coming from the Global South could encounter during their career. Having this structure [that] backups and defends your positions, your ideas and your projects, is like a deep breath of clean and fresh air coming from the pacific ocean.
The artists who made up Kirppis’ segment included the collective Ghetto Witchez and musician El irreal Veintiuno. Speaking to first time participant El irreal Veintiuno — whose musical practice is rooted in capturing the sounds of his country — about his experience, especially within the festival’s 2021 virtual form, he shares:
It has definitely been a new experience and what we are living [through] with this pandemic, was not an impediment [on] the experience of connecting with people from all over the world. Through a screen [it became] possible, you know it is curious how between countries there are giant walls, and with the help of technology you can put an end to those walls. It is simply magical, although to be honest, I like to think about the fact of being there physically with people dancing, enjoying and feeling each song you are playing. I hope at some point in life it is possible.
For Ghetto Witchez’ REBURRA, the festival helped her reconnect with her creative side which had been suffering from a pandemic induced lull as she expresses:
Personally it was a positively challenging experience, it helped me wake up my creative side and shake off lots of heavy feelings I had bottled up during most of 2020. In El Salvador the quarantine restrictions were specially hard during the first months of the pandemic. So, most of us where just locked in our houses scared for our lives and listening to the president’s long misinformed press conferences. It was hard, my heart and mind where not that well recovered from the quarantine experience and there where moments I just wanted to go back in time. So I decided to make our participation in SHAP SHAP’s programme at Antigel festival an excuse to revisit this Salvadoran fantasy land I’ve created in mind and heart — [to] revisit all those feel good and pretty things that connect me with my country. All the footage we added to the set visuals and the intros are part of a well know Salvadoran cultural phenomenon or landmark from my generation’s childhood, that have a special place in my mind and heart. This way, we made of our participation a way of healing my reality at the time and I really appreciated that. It was a bright spot during dark days.
Week two which was curated by Mzansi’s own Cuss Group, under the programme segment South Africa, What’s Up started off on February 12th. Not their first #me at the rodeo — 2021 marks Cuss Group’s 5th year participating in the festival, however, this #me bringing along new home grown talent and first #me festival participants to fill their segment. Rose Bonica — “your favourite producers’ favourite producer” and X14. As mentioned before part of SHAP SHAP’s intention and focus is “strengthening the artistic, social, political and economic status of emerging and off-the-grid artists from the Global South and from minorities who need support to emerge locally and internationally and facilitating international mobility”. This in-turn creates space and opportunity for dialogue and cultural/artistic exchange that is able to imagine beyond the limitations of the nation state and its borders. Speaking about the value of this work and intention Rose shares:
I mean, it's extremely valuable. I live in a country where the arts, especially underground electronic music, is barely funded so these kinds of opportunities are truly valuable. And being able to perform on a global and diverse stage is such a great opportunity for any artists with the added financial stability that the festival offers, I honestly couldn't think of anything better. The experience also pushed her where her own creative methodology and confidence are concerned, revealed as she expresses that she found it really difficult: to translate my live performances into a virtual space and the whole process of filming and editing the performances together often feels draining. My self-confidence generally takes quite a big dip and before the stream starts I feel like it's just all going to be a big flop. My experience with SHAP SHAP was really reassuring. And for the first time since I started doing any type of virtual streams I went into it feeling a little more confident, and feeling like I was a part of something.
X14 — also a first time participant — expresses having no expectations as he went into the festival, however, feeling robbed of his first international trip due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, sharing some more he states “my journey as X14 has allowed me to get proximate to artists whose work I really admire, one of [them] being Naledi Chai. I told her about it and she immediately hit me with the vision for what you saw... she helped me communicate something raw and beautiful”.
Friday February 19 ushered in week three curated in collaboration with Afro Futurist DJ, founding member of the House of Butch Xtra and artist Maïté Chénière. The first time I engaged with Chénière’s work was through their first solo exhibition, Octavial Scape, which mapped different modes of refusal and resistance in the forms of music, popular culture, academia and storytelling against the backdrop of the Atlantic — a central site of subjugation in the Transatlantic slave trade and node among a global community. Like Cuss Group, this was not Maïté’s first time participating in the festival either, having have been part of it before as both collaborating curator and participant (DJ). Roles which require one to show up in/from a particular way. I ask them about how the experience of those two roles matched up, and which may have been more challenging to which they respond:
There is always this duality in my practice, artist/DJ and curator. It’s been a journey to find balance between those two and it's a constant work in progress. In the context of An-gel, I guess the most challenging for me was to curate. I proposed a line up within SHAP SHAP's program, within Grand Central's program, within An-gel's program. It's a lot of circles to navigate and sometimes you risk losing touch with the core intent. I find it hard to imagine that working within such a collaborative and far reaching way — especially within the framework of challenges presented by COVID-19 — wouldn’t affect/effect ones own relationship with their artistic practice. Asking Maïté about this they express that: When I arrived in Geneva I noticed a gaping hole in the night scene. What brought me to Dj-ing is that I was tired of looking for myself in those white spaces. Then I began hosting the Archipelagogo Club events dedicated to celebrating club culture and its originators; queer people of colour. These are trans-disciplinary events fostering artistic creation and community at a local level but also with international artists. Through the SHAP SHAP residency I got to meet artists from South Africa: Moonchild Sanelly, GYRE, Angel Ho, Griffit Vigo, Desire, DJ Candi, CUSS group. And we produced music in Johannesburg together with Bone Black and Dokta Spizee (The Good Dokta). This opened all kinds of places in me and brought the realisation in my flesh of the necessity to shift from the western gaze as an active practice.
The final week — week four curated in collaboration with BATEKOO. Speaking to Mauricio Bahia Sacramento aka FreshPrincedabahia — ceo/founder and creative director at BATEKOO — I learn that their own approach to their sonic craft is rooted in taking “cultural trips in the musicalities produced in the peripheries of Brazil and the world”, a mode of research which as he expresses “has always been present in my life as a dj and as a creator, I needed to do this analysis when creating BATEKOO, for example”. For BATEKOO, the festival’s 2021 virtual form also spoke to “the moment of transition” he thinks we are currently in as he shares, “I think we are going through a moment of transformation, and we will always take positive balances out of it. I believe that in the future we will use more internet tools to spread information, entertainment and learning”. Cultural happenings like this are imperative as “it is very important that today the cultural class and large companies look for ways to reframe the present and help each other in a 360 way”. If anything SHAP SHAP program at Grand Central Antigel was a creative manifestation of the fact — to quote Anita Kirppis — that “the boundaries are [being] pushed, [and] the forces are changing”.

Yoga – physical activity for a healthy body and a peaceful spirit
Why should you take care of your body and soul with yoga?
For some it is an ideal form of physical activity, for others it still appears as an exotic training method. One thing is certain – the number of yoga enthusiasts has been growing for a long time, and it is unlikely that its increase in popularity will diminish! Professional athletes, show-business stars, and online influencers – all are proud to mention practising yoga and the many benefits they owe to it. What makes it unique? What makes people more and more willing to decide to take it up?
What do we call yoga? Some relevant information
The holistic impact of yoga on the human body makes it difficult to clearly define it. On the one hand, it is often mentioned as a form of physical activity which allows it to affect the body and mind equally. The cradle of yoga is India, where, for hundreds of years and many generations, it was cultivated as a form of daily physical and spiritual training – one of the main assumptions of yoga is finding the optimal balance between emotions and movement, limiting excessive body speed, and gradually striving to achieve better and better results in one’s personal and professionallife.
Yoga as a word is considered in three dimensions
Self-control – learning about one’s own drives and desires,which should be disciplinedon the road to complete self-fulfilment;
Path / travel – adopting appropriate standards and regular practices which will facilitategreater efficiency to achieve an optimal connection between body, soul, and psyche; yogis often indicate that this process lasts for the rest of our lives, and every day we have the opportunity to become a better and better version of ourselves;
Unity – developing the integrity and compatibility of the body with the mind, which will alloweasier understanding of the world around us, and opening up to it for new experiences.
The popularity of yoga began to increase over the years to reach the status of one of the most-chosen “training methods”, or active forms of spending free time. Today, in addition to activities at independent schools and clubs, yoga classes are a frequent item in the programmeof fitness clubs or gyms – from group training and individual exercises to collective training organised in the open air (often taking the form of workshops or camps, which are usually run in a quiet place and in the midst of beautiful nature, for even-greater peace and perfect silence).
What should you know before your first session?
Eat a meal at least 2 hours before the start of the exercise – yoga consumes a lot of energy, which is providedby the diet, but you shouldavoid excessively loadingthe stomach with food
Choose a comfortable and well-fitting outfit –clinging sports leggings made of flexible material arethe best solution. Yoga asanas require a lot of freedom of movement from the practitioner, which should not be limited by clothes which restrict movement
Yoga training is performed only in socks, which allowsa much-better sense of movement and contact with the ground. Invest in your own exercise mat and yoga cube – not only for convenience, but also to maintain safety related to hygiene or immunity
A yoga cube is a helpful gadget. Thissmall and lightweight device made of soft but durable foam can be valuable when attempting to perform certain positions.
What does yoga give you? Find out about the many benefits!
What makes yoga so well received by many people? Asanas (exercises) and positions performed during yoga training have a comprehensive and incredibly positive effect on people. Thanks to this, every sphere of life greatly benefits, and, as a consequence, everyday functioning gains a completely new quality.
Positive aspects of yoga for health and physical condition
There is no doubt that asanas allow the involvement of the whole body, and the activation of a number of muscle groups, including deep postural muscles, which are responsible for stabilising the body (the so-called core) and maintaining thecorrect figure. Exercises and positions in yoga are an ideal way to strengthen weakened muscle groups, while at the same time they allow you to relax excessively tight and contracted structures. Often people deciding on yoga experience less pain, especially around the spine, e.g. in the lumbar area, which is a frequent consequence of prolonged sitting at a computer and working behind adesk.
Another and equally valuable benefit is the increased flexibility and mobility of the whole body. Stretching the muscles, together with the elasticity of other structures (including tendons, fascia and ligaments), allows you to counteract the existing restrictions which often hinder the performing of daily activities. Improving the range of joint mobility reduces the risk of injury, and also allows better nutrition of the intervertebral discs, which is one of the elements in the prevention of various dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system, e.g. discopathy.
In addition, yoga is extremely valuable for
improving the work of the respiratory system, regulating the breathing cycle itself, learning calm and deep breathing (both the thoracic and diaphragmatic paths), improving oxygen transporting within internal organs (e.g. improving the oxygenation of the heart muscle or brain)
regulating blood pressure and improving the distribution of nutrients to working muscles and other organs
improving the appearance and health of the skin, inter alai, due to better nutrition and themore-efficient purification of unnecessary and harmful metabolism products, thus increasing the level of telomerase (an enzyme which has rejuvenating properties for cells),
increasing the natural immunity and preventing thepremature ageing of the body,
regulating hormonal activity (among others, thereduction of the level of cortisol – a stress hormone which promotes fat storage)
improving the working of the nervous system, and reducing its excessive load (i.e. after an intensive and exhausting day at work).
Yoga and mental health
A marked decrease in cortisol resulting from yoga exercises is also associated with improved mental health. In addition to relaxing the physical sphere, yoga also affects mental health. Over time, and with subsequent sessions, excess stress is dissipated, which translates into improved daily functioning. Apersistent state of excessive tension can be the reason for a number of problems, e.g., insomnia, grinding theteeth at night, or a constant feeling of tiredness and lack of energy. The effort made during the practice of yoga makes it possible to get rid of this excessive state of nervousness and irritability, and it can support psychological functions (e.g. concentration), and improve general well-being.
Yoga is also a form of spiritual development
It is not without reason that yoga is mentioned as body and spirit training. Reducing the level of stress and eliminating physical limitations (e.g. persistent pain) is an ideal starting point to knowing yourself. Understanding your own flaws makes it easier to work on them to become a much better person! This approach is valuable not only for yourself, but also for your environment -people will definitely notice a change in your current behaviour!
Thanks to yoga, many people can understand their emotions, unleash greater motivation and creativity, and change their attitude to deal with everyday problems. Larger energy reserves provide the power to break down barriers which previously seemed impossible to overcome. Yoga practitioners mention that they confront their difficulties more calmly and think more positively. What’s more, their self-confidence also increases, which can improve their social life, and make interpersonal contacts easier.
The 5 biggest myths about yoga
There are rumours and inaccuracies in every sphereof life which are usually the result of insufficient knowledge and doubt. It is no different in the case of yoga. Here are the 5 most-commonly repeated myths about this training method whichmightdeter us from deciding to tryit in practice.
Yoga is inseparable from religion
It is hard to deny that practising yoga affects the spirit and the mind – especially asit was mentioned in one of the earlier passages. However, some people wrongly citethe inherent religious aspect. It is true that yoga is firmly rooted in Hindu culture, and is often part of Buddhist practice as one of the forms of meditation. However, this is not a contra-indication for non-believers or those following other religions. Anyone, regardless of religious views, can practise yoga.
Yoga is an activity directed mainly at women
Gender does not determine the possibility of practising yoga in any way. The greater number of women in group classes is due rather to the fact that it is a substitute for other and “more masculine” disciplines for them. Fortunately, this strange view is slowly becoming a thing of the past, and men are more-willingly deciding to test yoga on their own skin.
Yoga is an activity recommended for well-stretched people
This is another myth which wrongly disqualifies people with a limited range of joint mobility. Yoga in no way requires participants to have prior contact with sport, and virtually anyone can try their own strength in performing asanas or specific positions. As in any discipline, it is also important here to adapt the level of difficulty to the individual capabilities of the exerciser. So that every workout is not only a challenge, but also a pleasure for the body and spirit.
Yoga is not tiring
It doesn’t have tobe tiring, buteverything really depends on your own commitment and your selected positions and exercises. However, although yoga is associated primarily with slow and precisemovements, most people dofeel the effects of the first training sessions for the next few days at the beginning of their own path! The global nature of asanas and the involvement of a large number of muscles can cause fatigue to set inover time. However, if a greater effect is desired, no one will prohibit an increase in intensity (e.g. bystronger emphasis in the muscle-tension phase).
Strength training does not go well with yoga
Finally, something for gym lovers and heavyweight training, who sometimes approach the subject of yoga quite favourablyas a way to complement their exercises. A skilful combination of these two training methods can prove extremely valuable in the context of shaping a muscular figure, which, at the same time, will allow you to increase the mobility of the locomotor apparatus, and maintain an optimal level of flexibility in your structures. In addition, yoga can be successfully used as a replacement form of dynamic and static stretching, which, however, is often neglected by body-sports enthusiasts.

The Remarkable Survival of Free Thought and Activism in China
Thirty many years ago this 7 days, thousands of students occupied Tiananmen Square in the heart of Beijing, partaking in a hunger strike to phone for political and economic reform. Other citizens throughout the nation –professors, staff, even Communist Celebration cadres — were being slowly and gradually becoming a member of in their requires for democracy and transparency. The movement was violently crushed on the night time of June 4, 1989, but above the decades that followed, a budding civil culture sector began to build and professionalize investigative journalism and legal advocacy provoked plan changes and the nation professional a spiritual revival.
Political repression, surveillance, and censorship have all intensified given that 2012 below the leadership of Communist Celebration head Xi Jinping. Even so, various kinds of protest and activism have survived and proceed to emerge.
The subsequent tendencies issue to an natural environment that is really restrictive but also far more sophisticated, and probably fewer stable, than it initial seems.

The Chilling Result Is True
Running a nonprofit advocacy business, doing work as an investigative journalist, practicing one’s religion, or just sharing a political joke with friends on social media is additional tricky and dangerous in today’s China than it was even a few decades in the past. Some extensive-standing civil culture groups are closing their doors, outstanding journalists are switching careers, and ordinary Chinese are extra thorough about their on line communications.
Numerous elements have contributed to this alter, but tightening controls on Tencent’s ubiquitous WeChat messaging application — including quite a few rounds of large-scale account deletions above the earlier 18 months, frequently for somewhat slight political infractions — have performed a exceptional job in encouraging buyers to self-censor. Contrary to with the Sina Weibo microblogging system, which was the concentrate of a fierce crackdown in 2013–14, a shuttered WeChat account does not just silence the user’s community commentary. It also cuts the individual off from an whole community of contacts as perfectly as from choices for digital payment, severely affecting his or her capacity to function typically in modern Chinese culture. This powerful deterrent is much a lot more common than other penalties like imprisonment, although jail sentences have also improved in the latest yrs.
Self-censorship in the on the web globe is slowly and gradually spilling over into confront-to-facial area discussions. “It’s a lifeless stop with good friends. Nobody would like to talk about everything even remotely political,” according to one particular expatriate who has lived in China for over 20 years. “Today most families are mindful about what they say, even to liked kinds.” International scholars who have attended conferences in China in the latest yrs have likewise remarked on the narrowed house for tutorial dialogue and the amplified reticence of Chinese counterparts to frankly relay their sights.
“Dissent Is Not Dead
In spite of this chill, scholar Elizabeth Economy wrote in an short article revealed past thirty day period that “dissent is not dead. She argues that “in essential respects, the political values and spirit of collective action embodied in the 1989 democracy motion have endured and even thrived.” Overall economy notes that even with the narrowing home for dissent below Xi, scholars proceed to pen widely circulated content calling for a political opening, and broad social movements have emerged close to challenges like women’s legal rights, labor rights, and the surroundings. Hundreds of community protests choose area across China each calendar year, including some 1,700 documented workers’ strikes in 2018.
A further China specialist, Teresa Wright, pointed out in her 2018 reserve on well-known protest in China that “the Chinese community is considerably from passive, obedient, or complacent. To the opposite, Chinese citizens usually boldly, defiantly, and doggedly confront authority when they experience that their legal rights have been violated or that they have been dealt with unjustly.”
Dissent in China normally takes numerous types and displays a selection of views. The more intellectual commentators tend to critique Xi’s coverage choices and phone for a return to the additional open financial state and modern society linked with some of his predecessors. Bolder activists search for to obstacle the legitimacy of Communist Occasion rule or straight examine political alternatives. The latter have ordinarily garnered the harshest penalties, but as repression expands to people who search for to boost Bash-condition governance without complicated the method itself — which include public interest attorneys and liberal economists — the prospective customers for these kinds of modest reform are dimming.
In the meantime, as the screws have tightened on formal civil culture organizations, the most recent activist campaigns have showcased unfastened networks of people joining together to contact for adjust, normally from populations that have historically remained silent. In reality, each and every time there appears to be a lull in dissent, a new resource of criticism or mobilization helps make alone identified. New illustrations consist of attempts by Marxist learners at top universities to help hanging personnel, engineers at tech businesses arranging to force back in opposition to a grinding 996 plan (9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six times a week), and the #MeToo motion, which at a single issue drew 30 million Chinese in a single thirty day period to discuss sexual harassment on the web.
Religious Resistance on the Increase
The relative efficiency of decentralized networks of dissent and the way in which increasing repression can make pushback from new sources occur together in a further underappreciated trend: Resistance between spiritual believers is expanding even as religious persecution raises. A critical getting from a 2017 Flexibility Dwelling report on religion in China was that “members of all religion communities have responded to formal controls with creative imagination and with bravery, at instances scoring significant victories.”
Hundreds of thousands of believers defy formal limitations in their each day lives, some openly and others with wonderful secrecy. Chinese Buddhists have resisted initiatives to exploit holy web sites for financial reasons. Christians and Falun Gong adherents advocate for the release of detained coreligionists. Tibetan Buddhists have marched by way of marketplaces contacting for the return of the Dalai Lama. Uyghur Muslims have employed numerous usually means to doc and expose harsh circumstances in Xinjiang.
Some initiatives extend outside of an specific spiritual local community in an try to impact the beliefs and behaviors of the broader Chinese community, which includes Celebration and condition officers. Activists have carried out trainings to maximize lawful recognition between congregants and produced phone calls to police in an work to discourage them from violating believers’ legal rights under Chinese legislation.
Since 2004, Falun Gong practitioners and supporters have, as a 2015 scholarly review mentioned, encouraged “citizens to challenge ‘tuidang’ (‘withdraw from the party’) statements, symbolically severing their affiliations with the occasion, youth league, or young pioneers as a variety of catharsis and a way to very clear the conscience.” Centered as it is on the realms of spirit and society, the “tuidang movement” does not always intention to overthrow the Communist Get together, but somewhat encourages Chinese to imagine a upcoming devoid of it and to renounce aid for its violent tendencies. The campaign has unfold by word of mouth, messages prepared on paper forex, and by way of social media and abroad internet websites available through digital personal networks (VPNs).

Online Beauty Supply Shop For Black And Hispanic Women Is Safe, Lucrative Haven

Online Beauty Supply Shop For Black And Hispanic Women Is Safe, Lucrative Haven
Black buying power shouldn’t be overlooked or ignored, especially by beauty brands and business owners. According to a recent Nielsen report, last year “black shoppers spent $473 million in total hair care (a $4.2 billion industry) and made other significant investments in personal appearance products, such as grooming aids ($127 million out of $889 million) and skin care preparations ($465 million out of $3 billion).”
Yet many black women face discrimination and racism when patronizing their neighborhood beauty supply store. Entrepreneur and influencer Dana Chanel recently shared a post on Instagram that illustrated this sentiment loud and clear.
It featured an image of handwritten signs plastered on what appears to be the window of a beauty supply store, notifying shoppers of the following: “No public restroom,” “Do not take pictures of the hair or the products,” and “If you come in a group only (2) people at a time.”
With the recent Starbucks arrests, this bathroom policy isn’t surprising. However, the guidelines restricting the photography of hair or products and number of people you can shop along with is absurd — especially if a shopper relies on professional insight from hairstylists, braiders, etc., outside of sales associates at the beauty supply store, whose knowledge is often very limited.
Chanel wrote in the accompanying caption: “Every black woman has stared at this image before giving their money to an Asian-owned beauty supply store for YEARS, we have no problem giving money to those who think less of us because we HAD … no other option.”
Hundreds of commenters chimed in, sharing their beauty supply store experiences, both positive and negative.
One person wrote, “I’ve NEVER seen crap like this. Nor would I spend my money in a place like that.” Another individual shared, “I HATE this. One time I called my sister on FaceTime when I was getting ready to purchase a wig and I just needed her opinion cause I would hate to buy a wig and end up looking like Wanda from holiday heart. I’m just confused as to what they think taking pictures is gonna do.”
But Chanel isn’t just using her collective social media following of 5 million to call out such unfairness; instead, her latest business venture is a digital beauty space where women are truly valued.
Curl Bible is a black and Hispanic-owned online beauty supply store stocked with shampoos, conditioners, men’s grooming products, and hair tools from top brands like As I Am, Carol’s Daughter, Mixed Chicks, Pantene, Shea Moisture, and more at competitive prices. The online retailer is also an avenue for lesser-known brands to get into the hands of curious shoppers.
Financially backed by her family, Chanel got the company up and running in under six months.
“I thought of my dad, who is the CEO of Sprinkle of Jesus, and he always says, ‘Don’t try to be the store in the mall. Become the mall that the stores are in,’” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “Of course, all of our [black and Hispanic] companies are making money, but what we forget to do is build an in-home banking system. So I went to absolutely no one but my family to finance the Curl Bible.”
Chanel recalls watching an Instagram Live where millennial beauty influencers candidly discussed how companies tapped into their followings to promote their products, and either paid them little or nothing at all for their hard work. “These girls are being bamboozled and not knowing that all they did was send you wholesale value of 20 products and you’re giving them all the promotion they need to sustain their company.”
So she added another empowering layer to Curl Bible with the Curly Queen Influencer program, through which young creatives and entrepreneurs can make a profit, no matter their follower count.
“I want Instagram hair and beauty bloggers to utilize the store to sell products and get a [25 percent] commission off of everything, instead of begging or waiting for a big brand to believe in them to actually pay them to do it,” she says. “They get paid based off of if they make a sale or not.”
Taking a page from the business practices that worked on her successful faith-based mobile application, Sprinkle of Jesus, Chanel incorporated similar alert notifications on the Curl Bible app to inspire users to take care of their hair with consistent regimens (e.g., Mask Monday), embrace their natural hair, and celebrate the individual they see when they look into the mirror.
Users can also watch tutorials featuring Curl Queens with different hair textures and lengths before deciding to make a purchase from the online beauty supply store.
Even though Chanel is a popular Christian entrepreneur, she tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she tries to “not to get too churchy” with the company itself. But, she says, “Don’t get it twisted — there is a reference of God.”
It’s natural for her to embed God within the fabric of Curl Bible (hence, the name) because it was through prayer, she says, that she was given the vision to build her next brand for a purpose. “I’m just grateful to be used and want anyone to use me — I’m not offended!”
“A lot of the time, especially in the beauty business, you don’t feel empowered. Women empowerment is not enough. You have to give them opportunity,” says Chanel. “What I want is for women’s careers to be sustainable … to have to pay these women’s mortgage checks. Once they get the taste of making money doing what they love, they’ll start thinking more creatively.”

The Wonderful Realm of the Marriage Cake
dorty In present day planet there are just so a lot of distinct possibilities and possibilities accessible to us. If we want to get someplace we can push a car or truck, trip a bicycle, consider a bus, or stroll together. Offered all the different choices readily available to us today, it's only pure that this assortment really should perform its way into one of our most cherished and honored traditions...that of the marriage cake. Selecting the flavor of the cake and the color of the icing is just acquiring started off with the approach. You will also need to consider some time to select the very best marriage cake topper for your particular cake. In this write-up we will be exploring the realm of the wedding ceremony cake. We will be delivering some background particulars on the tradition, and eventually performing on up to the selection procedure of the perfect topper for that very exclusive wedding ceremony cake. The marriage cake is typically proudly and strategically placed during the wedding day reception. Usually towering way up into the heavens, it can compete with the bride as the "heart of attention" on her major working day. This tasty work of artwork establishes a focal level that the other features of the reception can revolve all around. For all those who favor a flare for the dramatic, the wedding day cake can be wheeled into the space at the conclude of the reception, giving a "grand entrance" for everybody to see. To a lot of individuals this grand entrance will perhaps induce reminiscences of the bride who walked down the aisle before in the working day. For Starters The marriage cake has advanced above the yrs. Starting off off as a basic symbol of fertility, it has reworked itself into an creative tradition that can have quite a few distinct creative interpretations. For numerous historical peoples wheat was a symbol of fertility and a bountiful harvest. The Ancient Romans utilised to throw grains of wheat at the bride and groom to "desire fertility" to the new couple throughout their wedding ceremony. This customized at some point progressed into bringing small cakes manufactured from wheat to the wedding banquet alone. Men and women would then crumble this cake about the head of the bride to would like the pleased few "numerous kids". The visitors would then consume the fallen crumbs as a image of sharing in the couple's very good fortune. Numerous consider that this "crumbling of the cake" over the bride's head may well have advanced into one more marriage ceremony working day custom? Do you know what it is? In buy to shield the hapless bride from the wheat shower that is to appear, bridesmaids draped a fabric about her head ahead of the "crumbling tradition" took position. A lot of think that this straightforward cloth evolved into the wedding veil of nowadays. Welcome The Middle Ages Throughout the Middle Ages buns or sweet rolls had changed the initial wheat cakes, but it was nonetheless incredibly customary for guests to bring these delicious treats to the wedding day. Put in a massive pile between the bride and groom, if the happy couple was capable to kiss above this big stack of wheat, it was considered that they would be blessed with many young children. It is frequently believed that the upcoming stage in the evolution of the classic cake was done by a French pastry chef for the duration of the seventeenth century. In the course of a journey to London he happened to observe this "cake piling" ceremony. On his return to France he dusted the stack of buns with sugar, and therefore "cemented" them collectively into 1 tasty art type. This was to grow to be the first rendition of the tiered and frosted marriage cake, and a forerunner as to what was to come in the many years in advance. The Classic Style Are you acquainted with the basic design of the contemporary working day wedding cake? You know, the one particular with the distinct style and design of more compact tiers as the cake builds vertically? It is considered that this design was inspired by the spire of the 14th century Saint Bride's church in London. How's that for a bit of trivia for you? Victorian England has introduced us numerous of today's valued wedding ceremony traditions. For example, Queen Victoria herself is claimed to have had a cake that weighed in at three hundred lbs. As confectioners and bakers became much more daring and skillful, their creations turned even additional daring and elaborate. When England's Princess Elizabeth and Prince Phillip were married back in 1947, their wedding cake weighed in at a whopping five hundred lbs, and was nine toes tall. The Edition of Right now In today's globe the elaborate marriage cake is no longer reserved for the prosperous and renowned. Each pair can share in the custom of possessing a wedding day cake included to their large day. The wedding day cake professionals of present day world have taken their artwork to towering heights (pardon the pun). Lengthy gone are these bland times when you had been limited to a white cake with white frosting. While a white cake will almost certainly often be the most well-liked thanks to its traditional this means, today's pair is restricted only by the limitations of their creativity (and finances) when it arrives to their marriage ceremony cake. Why White? White is absolutely the coloration of a marriage ceremony, but did you know that there is one more reason why the white is the customary shade of a wedding ceremony cake? Back again in Victorian instances the finer elements of a marriage ceremony cake were being scarce and challenging to occur by. If the cake experienced a white icing, this uncovered the simple fact that only the ideal and most pricey white sugar was staying applied. Brown sugar was substantially far more prevalent, and therefore considerably less expensive. So, the much more white the cake, the richer the men and women. Be Confident To Prepare Ahead Really don't go away your specific wedding ceremony cake until the last moment. This is a single of the most crucial points that you can keep in mind. No matter whether you decide on the baker down the street, a talented family members member, or a pastry chef who specializes in these tasty masterpieces, if you plan effectively in advance you will be in a position to cope with regardless of what obstructions might occur your way. Some bakers have to have only a least discover, although several bakers are booked far in advance. It really is a disgrace to have that perfect cake of your desires be "cancelled" owing to the fact you are unable to allocate a baker's time. What is actually that you say? You have no thought who will be baking your marriage cake? If you don't have a distinct baker in thoughts, you have a bit of homework in advance of you. Store close to and get some good suggestions from household and friends. Browse the yellow web pages and the net as they are each beneficial informational methods. If you occur to be surfing the world-wide-web you will see that many bakers right now are putting up pics of some of their masterpieces. As a sort of masterpiece cake gallery, they showcase what they are able of producing. This will jog your imagination as to what you would like your possess marriage ceremony cake to seem like. Do not Forget Your Finances Be sure to think about your spending budget ahead of you let your creativeness get the greater of you. You want your wedding ceremony working day to be just one of celebration, not the working day that you commenced your journey into money disaster. A lot of men and women are stunned at the value of a wedding ceremony cake. Maintain in brain that you are inquiring an artisan to develop a masterpiece for you, and this can frequently be reflected in the selling price that he/she will be charging. The charge of labor is generally the most significant expenditure in the generation of a wedding ceremony cake but preserve in thoughts the straightforward reality that fondant is a lot more costly than buttercream. Have you assumed about staging your masterpiece? This comes subsequent. Be certain to consider the wedding day cake stand into consideration throughout your arranging phase. Even though some cakes can be only positioned on flat boards that will not be observed by the basic community, others are elaborately exhibited on stunning stands for every person to see. Retain in brain the straightforward truth that real measurement of the cake desk must be in proportion to the actual dimensions of your cake. A desk that is too small will make the cake appear way as well huge, even though a desk that is far too massive will make it seem like a little cupcake. And ahead of we forget, your cake table will want a gorgeous masking to compliment its strategic area at the wedding ceremony reception. Oh, will not neglect the cake knife and cake server. There requirements to be a place on the desk for these two goods as well.

SEO is now promoting user experience and the cross browser compatibility will surely impress both visitors and the search engines. Coding a responsive or mobile friendly website using PHP language is not a hard task for the experienced web developers.
