I think she forgets I’ve been working with animals for years- I don’t need hovering how to minimize the risk of getting bit and if I do oh well. I’ve been bit badly before 🤷🏼

Hopefully she’ll gain more confidence as time goes on, I don’t believe she’s worked with animals before.

I hate having a TBI because I only just remembered Neurodivergent Tech Week (which is next week) is also doing an After Dark event, and I forgot all about it. Knowing me I would like to post a not After Dark fic and an After Dark fic each day. I am so behind.

In my line of work, I get patients who have been failed over and over again by the systems. It's not a matter of "Oh, well, if they wanted to be sober enough, they would find those resources and make them work for them." Most of these people are mentally ill or neurodivergent. On top of that, they are dealing with addiction, which is an illness in and of itself. When you are in that state of mind, all you can think about is getting that next fix because that's the way addiction is. Detoxing/withdrawing is hard, ugly, and extremely painful. So your options are, go without the substances that have become your life, go through some of the worst pain imaginable withdrawing from them, struggle to find resources, struggle to find resources that will actually help you, get turned away constantly, relapse probably, and then repeat the process, OR just try to keep maintaining your lifestyle. Yeah. I think I know what option I'd pick. I'm very privileged in my life, but lord knows I struggle with actually getting, making, and showing up to appointments. My mom still helps me with insurance and other paperwork. I can't imagine trying to take all of that on alone. More compassion, please, less dismissal.

as an aroace person with limited sexual experience, no interest in watching porn, and poor sex ed as a teen, there IS something simultaneously funny and vaguely tragic about being 28 adult years old and realising how extremely tiny your frame of reference is for genitalia and deciding you should expand this to better understand bodies (yours and others). and then you're just there like "okay so what the fuck do I even google right now, anyway"
