Tumblr media Tumblr media
they weren’t kidding when they said that season 2 will adapt multiple Grishaverse books 👀
. . . . . . . also, notice how they completely skipped over Six of Crows 🫥
AND YET . . .
THEY STILL HAVEN’T GIVEN US ANY SIGN OF KUWEI???
that kid better be in season 3, why are they keeping him from us?!?!? 😭💔

Ch-21 ~Unfathomable statements~
“We need to move,” Sturmhond said quietly. “The whaler’s hull was racked, but the Darkling has Squallers and a Fabrikator or two, and for all I know, those monsters of his can be trained to use a hammer and nails. Let’s not take any chances.” He turned to Privyet. “Give the Squallers a few minutes to rest and get me a damage report, then make sail.”
“Da, kapitan,” Privyet responded crisply. He hesitated. “Kapitan …could be people will pay good money for dragon scales, no matter the colour.”
Sturmhond frowned, but then gave a terse nod. “Take what you want, then clear the deck and get us moving. You have our coordinates.”
Several of the crew fell on the sea whip’s body to cut away its scales.
The sight of them picking at its body made Anaya attain a prickling feeling. She turned to look the other way with grimace
She noticed Sturmhond approach Alina
“Don’t judge them too harshly,” he said, glancing over his shoulder.
“It’s not them I’m judging,” she said. “You’re the captain.”
“And they have purses to fill, parents and siblings to feed. We just lost nearly half our crew and took no rich prize to ease the sting. Not that you aren’t fetching.”
“What am I doing here? Why did you help us?” she asked him
“Are you so sure I have?”
“Answer the question, Sturmhond,” Mal joined them “Why hunt the sea whip if you only meant to turn it over to Alina?”
Anaya listened to the conversation with curiosity but didn't join it
“I wasn’t hunting the sea whip. I was hunting you.”
“That’s why you raised a mutiny against the Darkling?” the girl furrowed her eyebrows. “To get at me?”
“You can’t very well mutiny on your own ship.”
“Call it what you like,” she said, exasperated. “Just explain yourself.”
Sturmhond leaned back and rested his elbows on the rail, surveying the deck. “As I would have explained to the Darkling had he bothered to ask, which, thankfully, he didn’t, the problem with hiring a man who sells his honour is that you can always be outbid.”
She gaped at him. “You betrayed the Darkling for money?”
“‘Betrayed’ seems a strong word. I hardly know the fellow.”
“You’re mad.You know what he can do. No prize is worth that.”
The bloke grinned. “That remains to be seen.”
“The Darkling will hunt you for the rest of your days.”
“Then you and I will have something in common, won’t we? Besides, I like to have powerful enemies. Makes me feel important.”
He really was that big of an idiot as he seemed
Mal crossed his arms and considered the privateer. “I can’t decide if you're crazy or stupid.”
“I have so many good qualities,” the boy spoke, again. “It can be hard to choose.”
Alina shook her head. The privateer was out of his mind. “If the Darkling was outbid, then who hired you? Where are you taking us?”
“First answer a question for me,” Sturmhond said, reaching into his  coat. He drew a little red volume from his pocket and tossed it to Alina.
“Why was the Darkling carrying this around with him? He doesn’t strike me as the religious type.”
It was a copy of the Istorii' Sanktya. A children's book. Anaya failed to understand as to why the Darkling was carrying around a children's book that belonged to Alina, and she had no intention of finding out. Her interest in the conversation quickly disappeared and she went back to sit near on of the railings.
Her back had been aching badly since the whole thing. Whatever hell bent monsters that the Darkling had created, they seemed to do a lot of damage without taking any themselves.
The three continued to go back and forth asking each other whatever. The noises of the conversation began to fade away as Anaya began to remember the memories. Almost drowning, the haunting past, forming a tornado, all of it had been too much. But no matter the exhaustion, Anaya was grateful. She'd finally done what she once couldn't. But she knew that this won't be the end of it, he would come back again and he wouldn't spare her.
Anaya had been too indulged in her thoughts to hear Alina calling her name. "Anaya!" the sudden loud voice caught her attention
"Yes? Are you calling me? " She stood up in confusion
"Sturmhond wants to take us to West Ravka, to some client of his" Alina spoke
"Really? " she raised an eyebrow, looking at the red haired boy
"Yes" he responded grinning foolishly, yet again
"Why is that?" She glared at him
"I want the sun summoner to meet my client and listen to what he has to say. I'm offering a fair choice here, if she doesn't agree with him, I can help her escape. I can take her wherever she wishes to go"
"Is that so? and how would that benefit you? " Anaya asked, stepping closer to him
"Great question indeed. You see, I've been paid to bring her to West Ravka, not keep her there. And if I help her escape, it would benefit me"
Anaya sighed. "Fine. I'll go" she shrugged
"Wait, really? " Mal asked
"Yeah. Do you really see a better choice here? We're in the middle of the sea with no land for at least a thousand miles. The pirate is atleast giving us a choice"
"Uh, Privateer actually. There's a difference" The boy corrected
"Whatever" Anaya rolled her eyes
"I agree" Mal spoke, "He’s a liar and probably insane, but he’s also right. We don’t have much choice.”
Alina finally agreed. Sturmhond smiled. “So good to know you won’t be drowning us all.”

Maybe someday I'll post my overdone analysis of the Starless Saint entry from Istorii Sanktya and how I'm glad we got Yuri because it puts a whole new light to the Starless cult in general

Headcanons for Inej stealing Kaz’s clothes please? (I saw your other post about it and I love the concept so fucking much)
yes! alright so:- inej does steal kaz's clothes- like... a lot- never when she's doing something active though, because they are RIDICULOUSLY loose on her- like, kaz may not be matthias levels of buff, but he's still bigger than inej by quite a bit, not to mention a lot taller, so all of his shirts go down to her knees essentially.- her favorite shirt of his to steal is this silk black dress one. she tries to avoid all his Fancy Things but that one is very special to her for.... reasons™- namely the fact that it's usually borderline tight on kaz especially around his arms yet it practically swallows her when she wears it, and his eyes always darken and go half lidded when he sees her in it and aHEM. anyways- the first time kaz actually saw her in his clothes she was in his room at the slat reading a copy of istorii sanktya that nina gave to her- and it was so clear that 1. she had done this before and 2. she hadn't expected him to see, judging by the embarrassed look of surprise she gave him when he announced the fact that, surprise, he was there- "out of curiosity," he'd asked while inej was still blushing and contemplating how to leave the room as fast as possible, "do you do this often?" - inej had simply nodded her head yes and kaz brekker, certified demjin and bastard of the barrel, had broken into a grin so wide it looked like you stuck a hanger in his mouth- she'd explained that she usually did it when she missed him because they all smelled like his cologne and made her miss him a little less- his grin had gotten bigger and he'd assured her that she was absolutely 100% allowed to take his clothes whenever - just not keep them - because he needed them- you can imagine how that worked out- kaz: inej is that my shirt in your closet?inej: what??? no. why would you accuse me of this my dearest kaz, the love of my life, treasure of my h–kaz: JUST SAY YOU TOOK ITinej: ...i took it.
