I have said it before: Israel is the psycho bully and The US is the parent that’s determined to not let their spoiled child face the consequences for their actions. They’re desperate now if they bully any and all authority to prevent us from changing the status quo of Gaza. And to anyone asking”why don’t they just share the information on where they will be docking in Gaza?” It’s because they can’t! If they give that information to Israel then the IDF will know where and when there will be large masses of Palestinians waiting for food and medicine. It would be the flour massacre times every docking the freedom flotilla has to do in Gaza! So I at least believe they have a right to not disclose that kind of info to the settler colony that is actively trying to wipe out the native population!

WE STAND WITH GAZA
Imagine if you had a house and someone forcefully took it from you, gave you a very small room, deprived you of your basic rights such as eating, drinking, and electricity, and prevented you from wandering around the rest of the rooms and using your home. They imposed the harshest types of torture on you, killed your innocent children, destroyed your dreams, and prevented you from moving around. They do not go out except with Israeli soldiers permission. They always refuses this and makes you a prisoner, telling the world fake stores, they control, media, news , Facebook etc. personal interests. What might happen? how do you feel?
USA AND OTHER WESTERN LEADERS ARE WITH ISREAL! They all culprit of muslim blood!
The Prophet said, "Oppression will be a darkness on the Day of Resurrection." Volume 3, Book 43, Number 628: Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet sent Mu'adh to Yemen and said, "Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah."

There were a string of terror attacks in Turkey in 2016 and 2017, and one of the bombs went off in a square in Ankara I knew my best childhood friend was going to pass thru that same afternoon. This woman, whom I love dearly, also used to be an unmitigated disaster at keeping her phone charged - half of our calls would drop because she ran out of battery.
Which she also did that afternoon and she was totally fine but I could not reach her no matter what I did for an hour or two. And idk man now that there has been another explosion in istanbul I keep thinking back to how fucking scared I was which is making for an interesting Monday.

Leviathan Panel at Otakon 2024
I was OVERJOYED to be at the Leviathan panel during Otakon 2024! I'll do my best to recap it below, but if you want a more coherent play by play, this Twitter user did an excellent job.
I've got a handful of photos, recap of Sharp Gender Discussion, plus misc. things I remember.
Tumblr media
Not everyone was up for the entire time, but I snapped this photo near the end when everyone was on stage! From left to right: Waki Kiyotaka (Studio Orange), Yoshihiro Watanabe (Studio Orange), Scott Westerfeld, Christophe Ferreira (Quibic Pictures), Justin Leach (Quibic Pictures), Katrina Minett (Quibic Pictures), and Diana Garnet (ending theme vocalist).
Tumblr media
New concept art! Looks like Dr. Barlow, Klopp, Alek, and Sharp, right before the Germans attack the Leviathan.
More under the cut!
Alternative shot of that art bc I couldn't get my lighting right:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clanker and Darwinist technology designs. Watanave explained that Studio Orange's early days were spent doing contract work on Gundam anime, so I can't wait to see how that translates to the Clanker machines.
Some more concept art:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the way, the entire series is being adapted at once - so we'll get the complete story at once! That in mind, the second image here makes me think of that maneuver near the beginning of Goliath to pick up the cargo.
Tumblr media
Sharp!!! Look at them!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have much to say about these but I'm fairly sure I hadn't seen them before. I am wondering if they downsized Alek's crew for the sake of the story, or perhaps we just haven't seem Bauer and Hoffman yet.
We got some new character art! The panel was very cryptic about who the character designer is. Apparently they're pretty well known, but they can't share it yet!
Tumblr media
Volger I am so sorry your photo was unfocused. Forgive me.
The panel jokingly described him as "Alek's dad," which feels accurate. And maybe I misunderstood, but it sounds like he plays an even more important role in the anime than he does in the books. I've always considered Volger to be a pretty important character, so I wonder what else he'll do in this new series.
Tumblr media
Klopp looks exactly like how I pictured him in my mind!! They said if Volger is Alek's dad, then Klopp is like his mom. Which is very fair but also made me laugh a lot.
Tumblr media
Dr. Barlow!! She looks amazing. There was a lot of talk about the dynamic between her and Volger and how they're often playing mental chess games with each other. I'm really glad they're leaning into that dynamic.
And one more concept art:
Tumblr media
This looks like the visit to Istanbul, which I'm desperately hoping means we'll see my favorite chaotic bisexual, Lilit.
That's all of the photos I have! They also showed us a preview of the show plus a live performance of the ending song with Diana Garnet. No video recording was allowed and I don't break rules, but believe me when I tell you it was stunning. The world feels so full of life and adventure and I can't wait to see the final show.
Tbh I was too busy holding back tears of joy but one thing I remember distinctly is there's a shot of Sharp getting ready for the day, and we see a sheet of paper with a bunch of names written and crossed out before finally (I think) "Dylan" is circled.
Which actually brings me to the Q&A part. TLDR, between the use of "Sharp" for Deryn's name, Scott referring to Sharp as "she/he/they" during the panel, and the scene I mentioned earlier, I feel really hopeful about how they're approaching Deryn's gender and identity in this adaptation.
I asked a question about this at the Q&A and voice recorded it, so I'll try to transcribe it here as best I can because the audio is not great lol. I stumbled through my question so I trimmed it down here but I'll transcribe the response as clearly as I can!
Me: I just finished re-reading [the series] for the first time since I was probably in high school, and one of the things that interests me about this adaptation is the approach to Sharp's character... I guess I'm just interested, like, was there a lot of thought put behind, or what kind of thought was put behind how to approach their character in the anime, I guess as a chance to re-approach the story however many years after it was originally written.
Scott Westerfeld: Yeah, there's a lot to that. The "girl dressing as a boy" as a trope was something completely different in 2007 when I started writing this than it is now. And so we really approached Deryn's identity as what was at stake rather than just... rather than just her being in disguise, it's about their recreating themselves and becoming a different person and transitioning and, and so... but it's always been interesting to me that the words that I wrote back in 2009, 10, 11, y'know, as an old guy who grew up in Texas in the 70s - who was David Bowie fan! - but otherwise didn't have a lot of access into issues of gender, I'm amazed at how many people have been [able to?] adopt Deryn/Dylan as one of their own. I just got an email a week ago from a trans boy whose chosen name is Dylan. So it is amazing to me how whatever imperfections or whatever problematics there are in the text, people still find their way into what they need from a character. And as a writer, I can say that I always respected that character, I always respected their choices, I always respected who they were. I never tried to stick them into a dress and have everyone go "Ooh now you're pretty 'because 'cause you're in dress!" We didn't do that, and I think that what may be important for people and I think that's why it's still what's gonna work here, but it's been fun to be able to update it and everybody on the team's been really great about understanding that.
TLDR I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too high, but I'm really appreciative of the care that's being taken with Sharp's story and identity in this adaptation. It seems like Scott and the others on the team are taking that into account, and I'm excited to see how it plays out.
Other random things I remember:
THERE WAS AN ALEK COSPLAYER. I took a photo with them but I won't post it without their consent. Just trust that they looked fantastic.
Scott said one of the first things he was told was that Alek can't actually kill Nikola Tesla because he's too well loved by people in Japan, which I think is the funniest possible reason for a change to be made in an adaptation.
Diana Garnet (they/any) mentioned how much they love Sharp (don't we all) and also how they used to work at a Barnes and Noble and remembers selling lots of Westerfeld books!
Scott said his approach in writing Leviathan was taking everything he'd always wanted to write about and basically throwing it together, because he was just coming off of the success of Uglies and figured he could get away with it.
If I remember anything else I'll add on to this post! Overall, it was a wonderful panel and I'm incredibly excited for this project.

Theodosian Walls
The Theodosian Walls are the fortifications of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire, which were first built during the reign of Theodosius II (408-450 CE). Sometimes known as the Theodosian Long Walls, they built upon and extended earlier fortifications so that the city became impregnable to enemy sieges for 800 years. The fortifications were the largest and strongest ever built in either the ancient or medieval worlds. Resisting attacks and earthquakes over the centuries, the walls were particularly tested by Bulgar and Arab forces who sometimes laid siege to the city for years at a time. Sections of the walls can still be seen today in modern Istanbul and are the city's most impressive surviving monuments from Late Antiquity.
Making the City Safe
Although the city had benefitted from previous emperors building fortifications, especially Constantine I when he moved his capital from Rome to the east, it is Emperor Theodosius II who is most associated with Constantinople's famous city walls. It was, though, Theodosius I (r. 379-395 CE) who began the project of improving the capital's defences by building the Golden Gate of Constantinople in November 391 CE. The massive gate was over 12 metres high, had three arches, and a tower either side. It was entirely built of marble and decorated with statues and was topped with a sculpture of a chariot pulled by four elephants. The Golden Gate probably marked the start of triumphal processions which ended in the Hippodrome. Two decades later, Theodosius II was alarmed at the recent fall of Rome to the Goths in 410 CE and set about building a massive line of triple fortification walls to ensure Constantinople never followed the same fate. The man credited with supervising their construction is Theodosius' Praetorian Prefect Anthemius. The walls extended across the peninsula from the shores of the Sea of Marmara to the Golden Horn, eventually being fully completed in 439 CE and stretching some 6.5 kilometres. They expanded the enclosed area of the city by 5 square kilometres.

In Istanbul, a flotilla of ships is preparing to depart with 5,500 tonnes of aid and around 1,000 medics, lawyers, senior politicians and human rights observers. Its destination: the Gaza Strip. On Sunday, the Gaza Freedom Flotilla will begin making its way to the besieged strip, its fifth voyage in 14 years. While the journey would normally take three to four days, it is expected that the flotilla – initially comprising three vessels, one cargo and two passenger ships, with further vessels expected to join later – could be waylaid by Israeli forces.
[...]
The flotilla is organised by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), which brings together 12 national groups from Canada, Malaysia, Italy, Norway, the US, Sweden, Spain, Turkey, South Africa, New Zealand, the UK and France. Altogether, delegates from over 30 countries will be represented on board. The flotilla’s crew and passengers – among them Che Guevara’s daughter Aleida and Nelson Mandela’s grandson Zwelivelile – will be unarmed. Their peacefulness will not guarantee their safety, however, as the Israeli state has a long and bloody history of targeting humanitarian groups. The flotilla’s first voyage to Gaza in May 2010 was a bloodbath: Israel sent a naval ship to meet it, killing 10 crew members (all of them Turkish, including one Turkish American dual national) and injuring 30. A UN report later found that Israel appeared to have executed at least six people in an “extra-legal, arbitrary and summary” manner; a Turkish state autopsy found that five had been shot in the head at close range.  Israel subsequently apologised to Turkey for the raid and agreed to compensate the bereaved families $20m. Further voyages in 2015, 2016 and 2018 saw Israel seize the FFC’s ships and detain and deport those on board. Israel has also targeted humanitarian workers on land. Earlier this month, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed seven World Central Kitchen (WCK) food aid workers, among them three British citizens, in a drone attack on a marked convoy whose movements had been coordinated with the IDF. An Israeli investigation blamed “grave errors”, a finding WCK rejected.

The warm sun filtered through the windows as I hurriedly tied my shoes, already late for our planned outing.
Arda leaned against the doorway, watching me with a familiar mix of amusement and concern.
"You ready?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with affection.
"Almost," I replied, grabbing my bag. "Sorry, I took longer than expected."
"No rush," he said, pushing off the doorframe and walking over to me. "I just want to make sure you don't trip over those untied shoelaces again."
I looked down, realizing he was right. With a sheepish grin, I quickly fixed them. "Thanks, Arda. What would I do without you?"
He chuckled and took my hand. "Probably have a lot more bruises."
As I stepped into the bustling streets of Istanbul, I couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful chaos around me.
The vibrant colors, the aromatic scents from nearby food stalls, and the constant hum of the city filled me with excitement.
However, I was well aware of my tendency to trip over my own feet, and Arda was even more aware of it.
"Be careful, aşkım," Arda warned, his voice tinged with both affection and concern as he took my hand, weaving us through the crowded street.
I smiled up at him, appreciating his protective nature. "I'm always careful," I said, though we both knew that wasn't entirely true.
We walked toward the Grand Bazaar, a place I'd been eager to explore. The narrow aisles were packed with people, and I felt a rush of excitement as I took in the sights and sounds.
Arda's grip on my hand tightened as we maneuvered through the throngs of shoppers.
"Look at these!" I exclaimed, stopping abruptly to examine a set of intricately designed lanterns. In my enthusiasm, I didn't notice the small step in front of me, and as I stepped forward, I stumbled.
Arda's reflexes were quick, and he caught me before I could fall. "I told you to be careful," he said, a mixture of exasperation and amusement in his voice.
I laughed it off, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I know, I know. Thank you, my hero."
He smiled and kissed the top of my head. "Just trying to keep you in one piece."
As we continued our exploration, I couldn't help but notice how Arda constantly kept an eye on me, ensuring I didn't walk into any more hazards.
His protectiveness was endearing, and I felt a warm glow in my chest, knowing how much he cared for me.
Later, we stopped at a café for some tea and baklava. As we sat down, I managed to knock my fork off the table.
Bending down to pick it up, I hit my head on the edge of the table as I straightened up.
"Ouch," I winced, rubbing my head.
Arda was immediately by my side, examining the bump with a worried expression. "Are you okay? Let me see."
I nodded, feeling a bit foolish. "I'm fine, just a little bump."
He gently brushed his fingers over the spot, his concern evident. "You need to be more careful. You're going to give me a heart attack one of these days."
I chuckled, leaning into his touch. "I'll try my best. But it's a good thing I have you to look out for me."
Arda sighed, though he couldn't hide the smile tugging at his lips. "Yes, and it's a job I take very seriously."
After finishing our tea, we decided to head to the park. The lush greenery and serene atmosphere were a welcome change from the bustling streets.
As we strolled along the winding paths, I found myself getting lost in the beauty of the place.
Unfortunately, this also meant I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking.
"Watch out!" Arda called out just in time as I nearly walked into a low-hanging branch.
I stopped short, blinking in surprise. "Wow, that was close. Thanks."
He shook his head, laughing softly. "I think I'm going to need to get you a helmet."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Very funny. But I suppose it wouldn't hurt."
We found a bench and sat down to enjoy the view. I leaned against Arda, feeling his arm wrap around me protectively.
"You know," he began, his voice soft, "I wouldn't change a thing about you. Clumsiness and all."
I looked up at him, touched by his words. "Really?"
"Really," he affirmed. "It keeps things interesting, and it gives me an excuse to stay close to you."
I smiled, feeling a surge of love for him. "I'm lucky to have you."
He kissed my forehead gently. "No, I'm the lucky one."
