"Issue #26: My Heart Is Too Heavy to Sleep"

Twenty-six issues in and the boys finally get to kiss-kiss-fall-in-love! Aw, I'm so proud of them. I struggled a bit with finding terms for dating in Warriors, since the series never has an in-between stage of friends to mates. "Together" works fine enough for me.

The idea of Pinewing and Cormorantleaf as their warrior names is one I've had for a long time, and admittedly the dumb joke about Pinepaw not knowing what pine trees are is just as old. Hey, he grew up in a wasteland! Not his fault.

It was also fun to draw Cormorantpaw's family again, I love their designs. A little more light is shed on his sordid past, but it's hard for him to talk about. It's still very fresh.

This issue is the longest one yet, so it took me awhile to make, but I like it a lot. I hope you do too.

Needless to say this does not go over well

in tim's case, he takes red robin as a method of self derogation -- through his unshakable conviction that jason was the worst robin, therefore to take his name is to be at the worst stage in his own journey as robin. it's important to note that he's still clinging to robin himself here because he hasn't actually moved past it.

in jason's case, red robin is the name another version of his father created for him. it's a return to a role which was taken from him (by death), as granted by batman.

bruce is the one who chose to include robin in the name. to me it seems like he wanted to offer jason the independence that he knew, from experience with dick, he was sure to crave, but without losing robin. so red robin is a thinly veiled attempt to keep its wearer attached to the role of robin, in some way. but in the case of jason, it wasn't by his own design; it was bruce who wanted to keep jason by his side. tim, without understanding that context, used it to cling to robin as the wearer himself.

good lord some of y’all have no patience with adaptations you do realise those are THEIR characters and also the original show still EXISTS and also resurrection needs to be treated differently in narrative tv compared to ttrpgs and also they’re clearly saving the group ripley kill for the finale batch of episodes
