Bg3 blunt rotation headcanons:

Karlach: does not stop fucking laughing. She’s def wheezing at a joke she overheard in a lesbian bar three and a half years ago while in the middle of a sentence. The type who starts a story and ends up laughing so hard she can’t finish it.

Halsin: mellow as hell, is always encouraging the group to go for a nice walk somewhere while stoned to shit. Will he pass out or will he be caressing the flowers in his backyard? No one knows.

Shadowheart: Sis is asleep after a joint or a few hits from the bong. Is likely sleeping on Lae’zel’s shoulder with a blanket around her. We love her for that tho bc she looks so cute.

Jaheira: she is forreal trying to tell you that we’re all living in someone’s sims save or how aliens made the pyramids. Also always pulls up to the session at the most random times.

Lae’zel: when she does smoke she usually ends up tripping the fuck out and is staring at the wall like a dog that’s accidentally eaten an edible. Doesn’t partake anymore but will come and chill and act as Shart’s personal resting post.

Astarion: the one who is chatting the most shit, probably has the joint in a cigarette holder like curella de’vil. The main source of Karlach’s laughter. Is also constantly asking for Nicki Minaj songs to be added to the Spotify queue.

Wyll: straight up vibes, is probably hogging the snacks to himself tho but he’s busting jokes and laughing with Karlach about stupid shit

Gale: the person in charge of the playlist and the only one who can actually roll. He is very particular about the music bc he believes it sets the mood for the high. Is constantly denying Astarion’s request to play Chun li but puts on random shit like khazakstani jazz

Minthara: enabling Astarion’s shit talking and spilling the piping hot tea. The least faded out of all of them (except lae). Has a screenshot folder that she shows astarion so they can be shady.

Aylin: she’s productive when she’s stoned, is likely cooking something or has gone for a jog/ doing a task while wearing her socks/ Birkenstock combo

Isobel: the mom friend who is making sure everyone is drinking water and is getting fresh air while fried.

Withers: the za dealer. You have to go to his house and he only sells a min of 6gs at a time. Usually chilling and trying to hide his weed plants from the cops bc his neighbours are snitches ngl

Minsc and boo (sry I be forgetting): Brings his hamster to the function bc he doesn't want him to be lonely and believes that his best bud deserves a toke as well. Boo is a literal fucking menace and bites those who object to giving him any. There is literally always an argument bc of this but Minsc is ready to fight for his child.

You know, I keep listening to my John Grey playlist and my song choices make me realize how much overlapping there is to his traumas and conflicts. Nothing that I didn’t know already but it’s so crazy to notice this in a fucking playlist lol

And this is because grief and being stuck/not being able to move on are running themes for his character. Everything is about Jamie because everything is about Hector because everything is about his father. With Percy sneaking in throughout the whole thing too.

There are some songs, or maybe just some lines in certain songs, that get me like “oh this could apply to several people/moments of his life at the same time” and that’s so interesting.

Blue by Billie Eilish is a great example (at least the first part of the song) because it can be applied to Hector, Jamie and Percy all at once lol

All the songs about grief too. I chose those because of Hector? Because of his dad? Percy (in a more metaphorical way/grief over the end of their relationship)? Isobel, maybe? Hell, I don’t even know, probably all of the above.

Mercury is so interesting in that context. I think it can be interpreted in a really metaphorical way about grief in general, so in the context of John it would be about all of the people that he lost and how that affected him, or rather, how progressively fucked up he got because of that. Especially wrt Percy and how John seems to have given up on love completely after him (also thinking of how John compares Percy to quicksilver = mercury)

“It’s a fine romance, but it’s left me so undone” in Shake It Out is another example. Losing Hector? His one sided love for Jamie? Losing Percy? Guess what, all of them!!

right where you left me is also interesting because the whole song is about not being able to move on, which is John’s whole thing. I think about it mostly in the context of him and his unrequited love for Jamie, but like I said, everything with John is kinda connected?? Yes, it’s Jamie, but he is only unable to move on from Jamie because of everything else that happened to him that he wasn’t able to process properly (his dad, Hector, Percy). “You left me no choice but to stay here forever” and the you is Jamie, but is also his father, Hector and Percy. It’s also John himself.

And so on.

-Briony and Gavin probably have the same spotify workout playlists and don't even realise it. They both vibe intensely to Hell's Comin With Me by Poor Man's Poison and only notice when Reid points it out, after which they begin denying it vehemently. -Reid practically lives and breathes electronic nightcore. He has listened to every Odetari, 6arelyhuman and asteria song to exist and has them on repeat. -People tell Isobel that she looks like she listens to Lana Del Rey, but in truth, the only artist she can relate to is either UPSAHL or EMELINE.

-Elionor is a Swiftie at heart, but if anybody but Carbry talks about it, she will curse them. -Finley used to only listen to the songs Briony used to show him, but began trying out other stuff after they broke up, especially if Carbry likes it.

-Carbry was convinced by Elionor to learn the drums. It was his way of escaping the shy, quiet world he'd built for himself. Much to everybody's surprise, he took to it like a fish to water. More surprisingly, most of the songs he learned to play were by Maneskin. Once, Carbry played Honey!(Are You Coming?) for Finley and Elionor and they were left with their jaws hanging open

-Alistair and Hendry actually have vastly different tastes in music. Hendry listens to practically anything and everything, but he has a soft spot for Omar Rudberg and Isabel Larosa (basically anything that elevates his slutty boy persona).

-Alistair listens to Will Wood, Mother Mother and Marina and the Diamonds religiously. His and Gavin's playlists are actually very similar, and it's one of the things that brought them together. I will die on the hill that Arms Tonite by Mother Mother is Gavin and Alistair's song.

-Diya, much like Hendry, has a wide range, but hers is even more inclusive. She listens to Hindi songs, K-pop, even German music, as long as she can vibe to it. Her faves are Paris Paloma, Mamamoo and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya.
