CAN THEY FALL IN LOVE?

Characters : Isagi Yoichi, Michael Kaiser, Itoshi Sae, Itoshi Rin

Contents : My thoughts on whether or not they'll actually fall in love? Depending on the character, how long will it take? And what conditions must be met for it to happen? And, depending on the character, will they not fall in love at all?

Note : Please keep in mind that this is my own interpretation of how characters will take on this situation and act on them, I don’t however assume and force this into a canonical aspect, I am not the creator of Blue Lock so take this post however you'd like if it is canon enough for you, or if it isnt, everyone has their own interpretations on each characters, but I am merely showcasing how I interpreted them, taking heed of the information in the manga and anime at hand, as I am trying to understand their character. Thank you, and enjoy reading.

ISAGI YOICHI

Can they fall in love? : Yes. He can. This is something that can be understood if you truly read the trivia and read and watched every nook and cranny of the entire blue lock manga and anime. He mentioned a type in his trivia and I think just from this, it might just be enough to stake a claim that he would indeed fall in love. Isagi is a character that is described as friendly and cheery, although he starts to develop a more assertive and dominant personality as he progresses through blue lock, we can't ignore the fact that he grew up with loving parents, in a loving environment, a stable home and not divorced parents. It is fair to say he understands the concept of love and is most likely to fall inlove in comparison to other characters in blue lock.

How long will it take? : Depending on the situation, I think it would take a few months at most. If I were to place an estimation, maybe 2-4 months? Attraction can start up pretty quickly, but falling inlove takes time. But if ever the situation makes it possible for the love interest and him to have a lot of moments together, 2-4 months can be reduced to less. Especially if his love interest constantly makes appearances in his life, it would further deepen and fasten the attraction.

What conditions must be met for it to happen? :

To fall in love, it is fair to say the love interest has to be his type. A person that laughs a lot and has a nice smile. If the object of attraction has this traits, needless to say, that person just has to wait as Isagi's attraction seeps in, but the object of attraction also has to work for it. If ever Isagi falls first, reciprocating is a nice way to further develop the current stage. If the object of attraction falls first, I am pretty sure with some moments, it won't be so long till he would feel the same.

If the the object of attraction isn't his type, it might be possible but I doubt it would take so soon for it to happen. Let us say this person doesn't smile at all, or is unable to express laughter, Isagi is most likely to not fall at all, but still is capable of having attachment to that person but in a platonic sense. But if the love interests shows persistence and attraction, there can be some room for Isagi to look at the love interest in a romantic light, but it will take longer and with more efforts.

So yes, Isagi can fall in love.

RIN ITOSHI

Can they fall in love? : Yes, everyone has the capability to fall in love. But there are some reasons which prevents Rin from truly engaging in it at the moment.

Reason 1 : Soccer

Reason 2 : His brother

Anyone that has reading comprehension can understand that Rin currently has his focus all on soccer, numerous times in the manga and anime, it shows him exerting his energy and time All into soccer and making himself better and better. His mind is so preoccupied that there is no room left for him to make meaningful romantic relationships, much less the time to truly fall in love with someone. And Sae also occupies a large sum of Rin's mind, time and dedication, that his life technically just revolves around Sae at this point.

Rin has dedicated himself onto defeating Sae, that even if someone were to try and make a connection with him, would ultimately and eventually give up because of his neglect and unwillingness to reciprocate.

However, if some conditions are met, it might be possible, but it needs so much time dedicated into it and patience, which I don't think anyone realistically could pull off, unless someone really is so committed.

How long will it take? : Years. Yes, years. If someone really is steadfast on making Rin fall in love, it would take absolute time, persistence and constancy. And absolute focus too. But years of staying, and constantly showing affection isn't enough, one has to truly share moments of vulnerability, handle his time to time exertion towards soccer and must respect his own goals and wishes.

But it really could be impossible if he deems the love interest to be a dead weight to his goals, and if he thinks so, he wont hesitate to drop them. But he is not an emotionless person, he is just emotionally unavailable.

I am sure if someone had stayed with him, he might soften up a bit, but if that person shows even the slightest of being a distraction, albeit reluctantly, he would leave them, for himself and for that person, and even if the love interest persists and tries to understand him, I am sure Rin would not be so selfish by keeping them for his own benefits, and instead leaves them because he is aware of how he can get neglectful and doesn't want anything emotionally draining as that.

What conditions must be met for it to happen? :

1. To fall in love, a partner must show patience and understanding.

2. It might not be necessary, but also being into soccer, maybe a player, coach, manager, or just someone that has a fairly good understanding and involvement of the sport could make Rin more open for relations, since he might believe that it would make spending time together less time consming, but it would only lessen the workload.

3. When things have calmed down for him. Like if his brother and him finally have talked through things, lessening some of his burden and making him less closed off .

4. Before the Sae incident.

So in short, he can. But it would take patience and persistence.

SAE ITOSHI

Can they fall in love? : Yes, but he won't.

Once again, each human has the capability to do, with necessary work. But Sae, won't and might not fall in love no matter how many people approach him. Sae is emotionally unavailable like Rin, and has no desire to form such connections at the moment. Unless someone really interests him, the least that would happen would be him acknowledging them silently, and not approach them and form a romantic relationship. Sae isn't the type to fall in love, but atleast not with the wrong person. Right now, Sae is more dedicated to his sport more than anything else. One reason for why he won't fall in love could be through his understanding of knowing he won't have time, and relationships aren't really necessary and needed. Sae is fixed on doing things if he deems them relevant, but relationships isn't on the list. Sae isn't dumb, it is possible that he knows his partner would just end up being neglected, and left in the dark, and he is not open to the drainage a relationship could bring. Unless he is ready to make time, or he can see it in his future, even if he ends up being attracted to someone, I doubt making a move on that person is something he would consider.

How long would it take? : Years. For an estimation, 2 years and 4 months the minimum. On average, maybe 3 years at most. And more years like 5 is the longest.

If the love interest had already formed a connection in their childhood, it might not be as hard, but it will still take some work. Incredible work.

What conditions must be met for it to happen? :

1. The love interest shows that they won't get in the way of his goals, a balanced relationship in which the relationship won't take so much time

2. A very understanding partner. One that would understand he isn't there all the time, or that he is gonna be focused on soccer.

However, if Sae does enter a relationship, it means he can balance it with his career and he sees it being relevant, so if it happens, he might make some time, but I doubt he would be there for his partner all the time.

3. It isn't really important so long as the person is patient, however, being involved in soccer in some way can greatly boost the possibility of it.

In conclusion, it is possible. But it is mentally draining for a person. One must be mentally strong and prepared. But all in all, Sae might not consider it if he feels like it could also burden the other person. Unless there is a mutual understanding, there can never be a Sae Itoshi that'll fall inlove with someone. Much less enter a relationship, none.

MICHAEL KAISER

Can they fall in love? : He can, but he won't. So NO. It would be close to impossible especially with someone that doesnt understand such concept. If he feels like he is getting vulnerable, he wouldn't hesitate to lash out or worse try to distance himself. Kaiser canonically wants love, but he is unable to truly grasp the idea of it and reciprocate it. Love deep down, is pure and unconditional which contrasts to how he acts on it and percieve it when received. For him, someone loving unconditionally is non existent and believes that affection from people comes in a form of give and take. He doesn't understand the idea of true love as he was unable to experience it. This is already proven with how he treats Ness, for him, Ness might be one of the only people that he secretly deems as a friend, but he also sees Ness as only being there because of how he manipulated him. His father abused him in which distorted his idea of love and receiving it. In the manga, he mentions how he finally understands why his father acted out like that, and justifies it by being able to feel alive, since he also does the same. But his father being abusive and hurting was the reason why he commits to such acts and sees it fitting in order to feel something, not knowing It is wrong. Parents are the children's first teacher, they are their caretakers. His father embedded that idea into kaiser and shaped how he is now. If someone tries to reach out to him, he might manipulate them instead, or if the love interest is someone that he sees as beneficial, he would manipulate them and get into a relationship, but I doubt he would truly open up and let his feelings be worn on his sleeve.

If his partner tries to truly love him, he would only see it as a form of manipulation or sees it as the partner wanting something in return rather than actually loving him with no hidden motive.

He might feel love but he wouldn't reciprocate it, nor would he accept it. He would leave his partner eventually to avoid vulnerable moments.

It would go differently if he undergoes therapy

How long would it take? : Years. If someone is really serious, years. 5 years minimum ( this is me being generous) but with an avergae person, it would need therapy and more than 5 years of healing. Perhaps longer. But I doubt he would open up to the idea of love in just a year or few months. If someone tries to be with him and make him understand love, it would be through sheer patience and deep understanding, they would have to be with him and help him heal, but it is no shock if the relationship would bore a form of toxicity. If someone is strong enough to stay with him, it will heal him after a LONG time, but it might break the other person unless they are mentally prepared for a power dynamic, where kaiser is in control, moments where he resorts to physical abuse, harshness, moments where he leaves, disappears, gaslights, manipulations and other. Unless taken to therapy, he wouldn't heal in a span of a year.

What conditions must be met for it to happen? :

1. The person must be mentally strong, understanding, open minded and very very patient.

2. Able to convince him to go through therapy

3. If someone wants a relationship with him, that person must endure constant toxicity and undergo kaiser leaving them

Kaiser would no doubt stray away from pure love despite wanting it, because for him, he is so used to the feeling of discomfort that the idea of something as foreign as love makes him want to stay away.

In conclusion, he can but he WON'T.

My footsteps pounded against the ground. Stupid y/n. Stupid, stupid y/n. She can never just keep her hands and mouth to herself. Y/n was almost as insufferable as her brother. Sometimes I couldn’t even figure out who was worse. Everything about her was so calculated and precise that it aggravated me. Every movement, every word, every glance. Her elegance could kill a man alone. Y/n constantly stands tall, her chiton gracefully wrapped around her athletic frame. Her tan skin that looked like it was kissed by Helios himself. Her wavy hair loosely tied up. Even the strands that fell out of it look completely planned. Her eyes that portrayed warmth and innocence. A complete fraud. Y/n looked like she should be one of the goddesses in the paintings that lined the walls of the palaces.

She’s infuriating.

My hands meet the heavy door of the library and it swings open with a creak. The smell of books and scrolls hits my nose. I can’t help but take a deep breath in. Silence. How relieving. The only sound that could be heard was the shuffle of my own feet. I made my way over to my favorite desk. It was marbled and stretched across the open window. When I sat down I would look at the Kingdom of Ithaca. My father’s kingdom. It felt solemn sitting here sometimes. I always wondered what he would be like. Would he sit next to me and tell me the stories of his battles? Would he tell me our history and about our family? Or would he tell me to “man up” and “stop being such a bitch” like Antinous does? Mother always told me it would be the first option. She always reminded me that my father was nothing like those awful suitors.

I settle down in my seat, shifting around to get comfortable. I run my fingers over the grainy scroll, feeling every crease and wrinkle. I unroll the scroll, carefully laying it out in front of me. The delicate handwriting was almost too much to read. I trace my fingers over it, so carefully as if it might disintegrate beneath my touch.

Athena

The Goddess of Wisdom, War, and Reason

Born out of Zeus’s forehead, which was completely disgusting but I would never say that out loud because it’s extremely disrespectful, she became known as the Goddess of Wisdom. Her goal in life is to create the greatest warrior. While her brother Ares, was the physical embodiment of war, Athena was focused on the mental state of war. Tactics and calculated attacks. My mother told me that Athena favours our family. Maybe one day Athena would turn me into the greatest warrior. Her warrior of the mind

She would teach me how to finally fight back against the suitors. Attack each and everyone one until 108 became 1. I would find Antinous in the large open corridor. Both of our swords drawn and gleaming. Y/n with her smug face, leaning against a pillar. Antinous would charge first, but I would dodge and you can hear metal against metal as our swords collide. He would pull away in shock. Of course, Antinous isn’t easy to kill so we would go back and forth for a while. He would give some smart remark and when he’s off guard, I thrust my sword into his abdomen and watch him stand there in shock.

As Antinous fell to the ground, I would slowly watch the smirk fall off of y/n’s face. I would pull the sword from his body as he slowly bled out. I’d point it towards Y/n.

“This is your warning.” I’d tell her. She’d get on a boat and I’d never see her obnoxiously gorgeous face ever again.

Telemachus wandered through the halls of the palace, occasionally spinning around as he walked. It had become one of the prince’s favorite habits. There wasn’t much to do. He investigated every nook and cranny of his home, while avoiding the suitors as much as he could. He roamed up the empty staircases draped with wool rugs. He was on his way to see his mother, Penelope. The queen of Ithaca. Penelope was one of the young prince’s only friends. Telemachus told his mother everything. Nothing was unshared between them. They were all the other had left.

The young prince reached one of the upper floors of the palaces. Telemachus glanced around, making sure that no one was around. Against the wall, was a statue of Athena with her sword and shield on top of a block of marble. The plaque read, “The Goddess Athena”. Telemachus slowly reached forward and pushed the plaque in, as if he was using it as a handle. With all his might, he pushed the statue to the side, revealing a dark hidden passageway.

These passageways were only known by Penelope and Telemachus themselves. They littered the inside walls of the palace. It was the only way they could see each other without being harassed by the suitors. Telemachus got onto his knees and crawled into the medium sized passageway. He slightly turned around and grabbed the handle of the statue, pulling it back into its place. The damp air immediately reached his nose and he couldn’t help but breathe it in. It had become oddly comforting. The boy ignored the torches lining the walls. He had roamed these tunnels so many times that he had them memorized.

He crawled through the passage, the rough stone against his knees starting to hurt. After about a minute, Telemachus reached the larger part of the passage. He finally pushed off of the ground and got onto his feet once again. He rubbed the rubble off of his tunic and sighed. The prince began walking and ran his fingers along the stone, the rough texture rubbing against his fingers.

When Telemachus reached his destination, he got onto his knees once again. There was a trap door, almost unnoticeable, but not to him. He gave the door a hard push and it opened with a creak. Telemachus crawled out and heard his favorite familiar voice.

“My son.”

The prince turned and saw his mother smiling at him. Penelope was sitting by her window, weaving in her favorite chair. It had always been her favorite habit. The only word to describe Penelope was royal. Her brunette hair was pulled up into a bun. She was wearing her usual white chiton. Her arms were adorned in her golden bracelets.

“Mother.” Telemachus smiled, taking his usual position on the floor next to Penelope. He usually sat there for hours, while his mother calmly weaved. Her presence always calmed him.

“Are the suitors giving you trouble?” She quietly said. Telemachus wishes it was just the suitors.

“Not exactly.” The prince sighed.

“Is it the girl? I believe her name was Y/n?” Penelope glances up at Telemachus and sees a slightly pouting expression on his face.

“Yeah..y/n.” He mumbled.

“What happened this time?”

The boy sighed once again, laying his head on his mother’s lap. Penelope’s fingers found the boy’s hair and she idly rummaged through the thick brown locks.

“All they do is humiliate me, Mother. Y/n has made it her life's mission to torment me no matter where I go. She calls me a woman.”

“And what did you say back to her?”

“Nothing.”

Telemachus could never find the confidence to say anything back. He just stood there. His pride being stripped out from underneath him was a whole new level of unsettledness he could barely describe, even to his mother.

“They’re trying to get under your skin,” Penelope’s voice rang out through the now quiet room, “You must not let them.”

Telemachus looked up at her, “But how?” His voice had a ring of hopelessness to it. All his mother did was smile at him.

Her hand gently found his chin and she tipped his head up to meet her eyes, “My son..keep your head high. You have a wonderful head on your shoulders..use it.”

A faint smile tugged at Telemachus’s lips as he looked at his mother. Penelope had such kind eyes. The golden flakes outside of her irises and her smile reached the creases of her eyes. She rested her hands on the apple of his cheeks, her fingers warm against his skin.

“Oh Telemachus..you look just like your father.”

Telemachus’s smile slightly faltered. He glanced over to his mother’s bed. The velvet canopy draped over the top of the luxurious king size bed. The cream colored sheets that laid upon the mattress. His mother’s side was disheveled. The pillow moved to the side from where she was most likely holding it. The sheets pushed aside due to her rustling in her sleep the night before. The prince’s sight then moved to the other side. The comforter was crisp and sharply folded. Not a wrinkle could be found. The pillow was perfectly straightened. As if it was waiting for Odyssesus to return.

Telemachus swallowed the lump in his throat as he glanced back at his mother. Penelope had the same teary eyed stare.

“He would be so proud of you.”

All the young prince could bring himself to do was nod. He wished his father was here. To give him advice and tell him what to do. To fight for him like all of the stories he had heard so many times that they were imprinted in his brain.

Penelope’s voice broke his train of thought, “Just like I, he would tell you to stand tall. To not let them get to you. They are trying to break you. Show them that they can’t.”

His mother’s words circled his thoughts. Show the suitors and Y/n that he was unbreakable. That he would defend his mother and honor. The boy’s head laid back upon his mother’s lap. He reached for her hand and he interlocked their fingers, his rough ones meeting her soft ones.

“I won’t disappoint you mother.”

Life has been hectic lately, so fics have kind of fallen to the wayside for the moment. Buuuut, hoping to be back soon! For being so patient with me, here's a little sneaky of the first chapter of Isn't it Lovely.

mmmmmm read a disciple shen yuan/shizun luo binghe fanfic about two days ago where the first chapter was the Immortal Conference arc, and SQQ was the one who had to be pushed into the abyss (he was still the villain) except Luo Binghe was refusing and was like, lowkey losing his mind about SQQ being so close to the edge. SQQ ended up having to be the one to fall in himself because of the system's punishment system. The rest of the fic is leading up to that moment. But like, MMM i've been obsessively thinking about that first chapter for DAYS ever since.

now i've been in svsss for a grand total of *checks watch* a week. but god obsessed with that. I want to write/read a fic where disciple SQQ goes a little nuts down there. Like keep all of the things that make SQQ, SQQ, but just. Throw in a little bit more trauma in there. A little bit of a mental break. Let him go a little nuts as a treat. Just a tad unhinged. I wanna see him go, just a little, "god fuck it, i've tried so hard to change this shitty story's outcome and it feels like everything i've done has been for nothing. I'm going to die in this world no matter what I do, I've been doomed from the start, so might as well die the way I want to." and he just, breaks a little! Under all the stress.

He still retains the traits that makes shen yuan, shen yuan, like his overwhelming kindness. But he's just! yk. A little less patient. Paranoid. Jumpy. Colder. A little more aloof and closed off. A little more Shen Jiu. He's no asshole child abuser, but he was a Number One Hater in his past life and he's leaning into that old habit a little more now.

(On a totally coincidental not-at-all related note, there's not enough SJ-and-SY-are-the-same-people fics out there that i've found. This is totally unrelated...)

The Endless Abyss turns the mind into an over-sharpened blade, and SQQ is both fascinated and perhaps a little excited to explore a place that doesn't have a lot of info on it in the mortal realm, but still terrified out of his mind. And he's no Luo Binghe, he doesn't have the sheer brute strength and power to just bulldoze his way through, so he has to be a lot more sneaky and cunning if he wants to survive.

The fic itself role-swapped LBH and SQQ so that SQQ was the half-demon (which lowkey fucks) and LBH the human, but I'm equally-if-not-more obsessed with the idea that LBH remains the half-heavenly demon and SQQ the human. If only because I keep thinking about SQQ befriending some demons (particularly and specifically a group of succubi) and they grow very attached to this Human Cultivator so through magic plot stuff they create some kind of seal/illusion/talisman that makes SQQ appear as a demon because a human cultivator in the endless abyss may as well be the equivalent of putting a giant neon target on your back.

And iirc Shen Jiu was taught demonic cultivation by that one guy(?? i've only been here a week so im not caught up in ALL of the lore yet) so that could totally happen here.

(On the other end of the realms, poor Shizun Luo Binghe is just. losing his fucking mind over losing his most precious and beloved disciple. About .5 seconds from burning down the peaks himself. somebody sedate him.)

The Endless Abyss sucks and SQQ is having a really terrible time and can feel himself going lowkey mad, but also holy shit look at all this WORLD-BUILDING. look at all this flora and fauna, and oh if he had the equipment for it he'd be writing all of this down. ALL OF IT. He was kinda-sorta-already planning on never leaving the Abyss as some sort of fucked up self-exile and self-preservation thing, but now he might? actually just?? never leave if he can help it, like he lowkey likes it down here.

anyways the next time anyone ever sees SQQ again he's got hair so long its almost touching the ground and he's either in rags and half-feral or he's been completely dolled up by his adoptive succubi sisters and still about three seconds from biting anyone who tries to touch him. (he's also lowkey trying to book it back down to the abyss even if he has desperately missed all of his friends and shizun)

personally i think they can do 70s/80s devil's minion while keeping it so that modern dm still needs a ton of development to Work, because they both have to navigate their feelings now even if daniel gets his memories back. there's the layers of betrayal and resentment they both feel; the fact that they've been apart for decades and have gone through life since then being shaped separately; the circumstances of daniel's turning— theyre all things they still have to work through, with or without an extended history between them.

for daniel, just because he might remember what he felt back then, it doesn't mean he automatically feels the same because of it now. maybe it could even be that he doesn't remember everything all at once; only the cat and mouse game at the beginning of their relationship, or the hopelessness and ruin at the end of it, or the addiction, and for a long time that's all he can remember. maybe he remembers it all but he can't connect what he felt then to what he feels now. it doesn't have to be a switch that flips and suddenly brings back all his old feelings and erases everything else.

for armand, there's an aspect to it that he has to come to love this more experienced version of the boy he once knew, one who is extremely sharp and much better at seeing right through him, one who is not dependant on him or his blood, one who has utterly dismantled everything he was clinging onto for decades, and, now armand's turned daniel, one he can't read the mind of like he used to. even if some things have stayed the same, their entire dynamic has shifted from what was once familiar.

so, even though past dm could be an easy way to go "they were in love once so of course they'll fall in love again", i don't think that's what would happen. in my opinion them having a history would add to their present dynamic but things are so different now it's pretty much brand new territory for them going forward.

you know how we have these two promo images of ivan and till?

paralleling their young selves and their current selves. young ivan sits with till and happily watches him sing, older ivan stares more seriously at till as they're about to enter the contest, having just made some sort of decision (we don't know what exactly that means yet. to lose? to not compete? to tie? to... win? given his convo with sua that might be the "nicer" option in his mind)

and now the promo art for round 6 dropped, "cure"

its OBVIOUSLY playing on paralleling these shots again. this time it seems to be after till got punished and is asleep or unconscious (or maybe he just has his eyes closed, but i dont think hes awake- he's not the type to be so chill about the face touching)

what if... its also meant to parallel a "future" shot? just like the previous two?

if till ends up dying this round (SAD!) we could end up seeing the second half of it. with ivan's hand on till's corpse. but this is pure conjecture, not super likely. im just saying is all.

watched the haikyu movie thinking it was going to be normal but unfortunately i came out battered bruised bleeding and 5 years younger, back in 2019 watching haikyu on my couch and trying to get my sister hooked on it
