My usual nightly reflection!! Advised by Lady Isis this time (I think).
Tonight is the night I think I'll try to stop my obsessive habits. I've been obsessing over my mistakes a lot lately, and rather than thinking if says to improve of simply letting it go, I've been dragging myself down into a pool of endless self-loathing. It isn't doing me any good. So, while it's going to be hard, I'm going to try stopping my bad habits and overcome my mental issues. And perhaps I'll start this by simply not acknowledging whatever mistake I'm thinking of anytime it pops into my brain, opening up when I start to feel guilty, or reminding myself that I can change and be a better person rather than sit around and hate myself for things that were in the past. I'm going to try healing from this mindset, because it clearly isn't doing me any good, and is just stressing me out. And I think my deities and Lady Isis for pointing it out to me.
I'm going to also try stopping myself from fearing the judgement of others too, especially with how much of an outcast I feel like for my different ways of worship compared to other Pagans online. I keep fearing whether or not I'm doing the right thing, or if I should keep doing this, or if my deities are even around or even like the casual relationship we have. When I should really be letting myself know that my relationship with my deities is my own relationship, and something that others can't change just because they don't understand or see it as something different from their own experiences with paganism. I need to become more comfortable in my own skin. And I think I'll do that by asking Queen Lillith for advice on how to feel more comfortable with myself tomorrow. Or I'll at least ask her if she'd like to do an advice tarot spread.
I thank all of my deities for helping me realize my bad habits. Seriously. I really have a lot of things I need to work on.

altars for kemetic/egyptian gods
hi yall, another purely based in UPG, new agey post! historically, deity offerings for the ancient egyptians often took the form of art/sculpture/hymns, incense (like frankincense or myrrh), or offerings of food (especially meat and bread) and drink (wine/ale, mostly). dialogue with the gods was often facilitated through the pharaohs or funerary rites, but your average person had access to daily magic and regular temples as well.

Isis/Auset, Goddess of magic, motherhood and nature!
Tumblr media
Who is Isis
Isis, or in Egyptian Auset, is the Goddess of Magic, health, marriage, nature, motherhood, fertility, purification, and womanhood. She is the eldest daughter of the Earth God Geb and Sky Goddess Nut. She is the loving wife of Osiris, sister of Nepthys and Seth, and mother of Horus.
Her magic was believed to be so powerful that she could control fate and restore health to the sick. She also has many myths surrounding her, the most notable being the Osiris myth, where she brings her husband, Osiris, back to life after he had been killed by their jealous brother Seth. Another myth she plays an important role in is the Contendings of Seth and Horus, where she assists her son Horus in taking back the throne from Seth.
Isis is a goddess with many, many aspects and domains. Along with being a beloved Goddess of the Egyptians, the Romans and Greeks loved her too, and her cult lasted well into 500 AD, when the emperor Justinian I had her priests arrested.
She is a friend to slaves, sinners, the downtrodden, the protector of people in mourning, widows, orphans, children and single mothers, and she is a patroness of Artisans, weavers, and healers. She was also thought to be the mother of the King.

Inanna
Inanna is the Mesopotamian goddess of fertility, love, power, and sensuality.
Inanna’s worship can be traced back to Sumer as early as 4000 BC
traditional worship to this deity included sacred prostitution, sexual rites, and an emphasis on the arts
often know as Ishtar (by the Assyrians) or Astarte (by the Phoenicians)
Inanna is often seen as the origin of Aphrodite’s cults in Cyprus and Cythera. the goddess also shares similarities with Isis, the Egyptian goddess of magic and femininity
Associations
star of Inanna (also known as the star of Ishtar or the eight-pointed star)
lions
roses
doves
weapons (particularly whips, reeds, and hooks)
ps… this is my first time researching Inanna-Ishtar and im eager to learn! let me know if i got anything wrong or if there’s anything else i should know!

Prayer to Aset
Aset, The Beautiful Sun, Lady of Joy and Gladness. Fill my heart with your love, make me shine like the radiant sun. Give me comfort in my sorrows; give me strength in my weakness; give me love in the midst of my despair. Wrap your wings around me, Great Mother, and give me the power to rise for a new day.

🏺THE MYSTERIES OF ISIS: SYNCRETISM IN ANCIENT ROME PT.2🏺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Priestess of Isis,John Cheere (18th century), National Trust Collection. Right: Priestess of isis, Museo Archaeologico Regionale, Palermo, Sicily.
As we've seen in the previous post, foreign gods made their way into Roman culture. In the case of Egyptian gods, they were usually adopted by the Greeks before arriving to the Italic peninsula.
In this post, we're going to talk about the mysteries of Isis. Unlike typical religious practices, which were often public services, mystery rites promised their followers a closer connection to a particular god.
Isis wasn't the only nor the first god to have a mystery rite. In fact, it surged as a way to honour the foreign godess in a somewhat "familiar" way.
The Eleusinian (honouring Demeter and Persephone, also known as Kore) and the Orphic mysteries (Orpheus) had an earlier development in Greek culture and would become the most famous mystery rites.
Tumblr media
Wall painting depicting Isiac rites.
The practices of the cult was, as the name suggests, a mystery. Participants had to swear a vow of secrecy, and, as a consequence of its private character, many things are unknown to us.
The rites heavily focused on death and belief on the afterlife, and also recreated the myths surrounding the godess Isis, like the murder of Osiris.
One of the only accounts of the mysteries of Isis is depicted in The Golden Ass. In Book 11, Lucius, the protagonist, is transformed back into a human guided by the Egyptian goddess. In return, Lucius becomes part of the cult.
As other pagan cults and worships, the mystery rites died out when Christianity rose to power.
