You see the Harlem live they did where they talked about Quinn Isabella and Quinn’s depression and what they wanted us to take away from the breakup and stuff?

I finally watched this and it was actually really interesting! I haven't watched the final two eps yet but I've heard things (and thank you to the other anon who warned about spoilers so carefully that I've been able to avoid reading their ask since yesterday) that haven't been super encouraging, in terms of how certain storylines or characters were treated, but there were so many parts of the live that were so thoughtful and understanding. Once again, I'm shaking my fist at the American TV show need for drama!

First, not even from Grace Byers or Jerrie Johnson but it was Meagan Good's answer about most difficult scene to shoot, and she picked one she directed, Quinn and Isabela's breakup, and she explained with a lot of personal investment how she wanted it to be clear that it wasn't Isabela's fault or her being the villain, how the audience would naturally be on Quinn's side so she wanted them to see Isabela's too, and she definitely succeeded! I'm so used to the f/f stuff being so isolated in a corner, here the literal lead was being like, I want to make sure even the breakup's treated fairly.

And then when Jerrie was answering the question about favorite scenes, she picked the ones she shot with Grace because it's so rare and fun to have that dynamic on a show, a more veteran queer with a novice, and the more authentic experiences with Pride. I also liked how she was able to talk about being nb and how that's reflected in Tye's outfits, both femme and masc, especially since my friend was literally praising that a few days ago. :)

And lastly, though this wasn't related (directly) to queerness, I was really struck by Grace's comments about depression, when she was describing Quinn as someone who is so lucky and blessed, because look at everything she has, and I mean, a lot of us would relate to that, right. And then she was like, but those things weren't the reason Quinn was happy so they can't help her when she's sad, and like, damnnn, what a mindblowing reframing.

hear me out... a glee x dragon age crossover that takes place in s3. the glee girls are all at the bridal boutique preparing for the finchel wedding when rachel and quinn get to arguing. mid-fight, there's a blast of green light, and an ancient elven artifact shuttles them through space and time to thedas. but not to the same location. quinn winds up in kirkwall where she gets taken in by isabela and hawke and rachel lands in orlais where she befriends leliana. they have to find their way back to each other and figure out how to get out of thedas and home to lima. the only clues they have about how to remedy the situation are a series of strange visions that haunt them both.

I knowwww. The thing is, I found out through spoilers in my inbox on Thursday evening when I hadn't started watching yet, so I was doubly crushed. And as always happens when I get spoilers I didn't want, it just put me off so I did wait a while but then my friend ended up watching and actually, she was a bit more chill than the message I'd gotten? From what she'd said, it was more circumstances than blaming either of them and yeah, by the time I watched, I'd say I'd agree with that, so maybe Isabela will come back?

JF is only on the first two eps on IMDB and it seems pretty filled out for the whole cast, and she seems like she's been shooting other stuff, so I dunno if we'll get any more, especially this season, but we do know that Quinn definitely doesn't magically forget she's queer, there's still this ep to come, probably ep 5, called Pride:

But what I also found a little odd was that during the convo with Isabela, she's like, I don't want to half-ass either the election or things with you, so maybe we should step back, but Quinn and then Angie after were treating it like Isabela just couldn't handle Quinn herself. "You'll find someone who loves all of you", like, Shawn and Isabela weren't turned off by her Quinn-ness? She was the one who decided to turn down Shawn and Isabela literally had an election to focus on.

Speaking of disconnects, feel like they're being repetitive with Tye as well, like, first, friends do count as connections so why act like she's got nothing at all when she has three very close best friends? Angie and Quinn have no better long-term relationships going either? And deciding to hook up with Zoe as a fellow low-maintenance player, we literally did that in the first season??

But this show is honestly just not that serious, heh, and unlike with other shows, I can't really say that the f/f is being treated worse because it's f/f, I think it's just the genre. Camille's romance is ostensibly the best treated but Ian kind of sucks so...
