CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW
Thomas O'Malley is based on O'Malley from The Aristocats. He is a 43 year old human, owner of The Jukebox, and uses he/him pronouns. He has no powers. Thomas is portrayed by Oscar Isaac and he is open.
CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE
Thomas O'Malley was a loner, but it wasn't entirely by choice. He was an orphan for as long as he could remember, and at a certain point he sort of stopped wishing for a family, figuring he would be happier learning to be content by himself. People weren't all that, anyway, he'd been given plenty of reasons not to trust them over the years, and he could do just fine on his own. It wasn't until he met Duchess in his twenties that he began to change his mind, finding some hope that things didn't have to be that way. He was seen as nothing more than as a stray cat to most, but she didn't treat him any differently despite her higher status. Before he knew it, he'd gotten dangerously close to not only her, but her three children as well. They weren't anything, not yet, but they weren't nothing — until all at once, they were. He hadn't walked away, he would never after the years of loving them, but he couldn't tell any of them that. One day, he was just here, with no memory of arriving, and no way out. He tried for awhile, but Thomas knew it was pointless; if all of the smart people in town couldn't find an answer, he wasn't going to magically stumble upon one himself. Once again, he'd be better off just accepting things as they were. So he worked his way up, bought a rundown building in town, turned it into The Jukebox, an eating establishment based around music since it was the only thing that hadn't let him down. He didn't hate Evermore, his life was pretty easy all around, but it was lonely, and no matter how much time passed — over a decade now — he found that nothing could fill the hole of the family he'd almost had.
I HAD A FEELING SO PECULIAR
❀ Hector Rivera: He's seen the man at The Jukebox a few times, never eating, seemingly just there to listen to the music and honestly? Thomas respects it. ❀ Pacifica Northwest: More fatherly than he seems, he cares a lot about his employees, all of them; but something about Pacifica just reminds him of Marie, and he can't help but have a soft spot for the blonde. ❀ Simon Petraglia: O'Malley is a friendly guy of few friends, but he would consider Simon one of them... even if he doesn't quite get the archelogy obsession.
THAT THIS PAIN WOULD BE FOR EVERMORE

The 'Teen Mom' alum turned podcaster is opening up about her next chapter as she prepares to welcome babies No. 6 and 7 later this year
Kailyn Lowry is opening up about her current pregnancy.
During part two of her tell-all discussion about her family life on her podcast Barely Famous, the pregnant host confirmed she's expecting babies No. 6 and 7 with boyfriend Elijah Scott later this year, weeks after confirming the birth of her fifth son, Rio.
"I'm pregnant with twins," she says in the podcast. "Surprise, the trolls were right again."
"We know Rio is here. He's not even one yet, and yes, I did get pregnant very, very quickly after he was born. I know it wasn't ideal and I don't have answers for that. Things happen, life happens, and thankfully we were still having sex after a baby because that usually doesn't happen for a while."
Lowry explains she discovered her twin pregnancy during her birthday trip to Thailand earlier this year and got confirmation once she came home, just six weeks into the pregnancy.
"We got the same due date as Rio's original due date. The exact same date, not a day off," she shares, adding it will be a scheduled cesarean section this time around due to complications in her pregnancy with Rio. "Very on brand for us. We're going to have Irish triplets, all born in the same month."
In addition to Rio, Lowry is mom to sons Creed, 3, and Lux, 6, with ex Chris Lopez, 9-year-old son Lincoln with ex Javi Marroquin and 13-year-old son Isaac with ex Jo Rivera.
Of her kids' reactions to her pregnancy, Lowry laughs, "Isaac wasn't shocked at all. He was like, 'Again?' They're twins?'"
"He said the only reason they're okay with me having more children is because they're twins and twins are cool, and if it was a singleton he would have moved in with his dad," she continues, revealing that while Isaac knows the sex of the twins, the younger boys do not.
"They just keep asking for a sister, and I don't know how to answer that. I don't want to say anything so I'm just like, 'You can also ask your dads for siblings.' But they're excited. Creed doesn't fully understand. He just says there's two babies in my belly."
Asked what she's excited about in this next chapter of her parenting journey, Lowry admits she's looking forward to being done with "baby-making."
"I'm excited to get my tubes cut out. Because I said this last time and I found out I was pregnant and I couldn't," she recalls. "No more pregnancy, no more pregnancies, no more surprise pregnancies, unplanned pregnancies, pregnancy, surrogacy, none of it. It's all done. The chapter of motherhood will be closing as far of baby-making, but I'm excited for my kids."
"Now I feel like our family is complete — I won't have anything missing. I won't feel like, 'What if we had another one?' I'm excited to explore this motherhood journey in terms of privacy and putting out what I want to put out. I'm excited for that," she continues.
"I'm a little nervous about having four babies in one month. I don't know what birthday parties are going to look like, but I'm excited to see how this goes. Isaac is going to be driving before I know it, so it's just a bunch of milestones all at one time — lots of new beginnings and also closed chapters, I feel."

@witchofinterest
YES!! Thank you for this ask, I was going to do it anyways in my rant book but it’s nice to feel like someone actually wants it lol. I did it a little differently in said book as you said to assign an oc and I basically did a list there. Also it’s kind of a series on there so.
1. brutal
Caroline Rivera! Who, funnily enough, Olivia Rodrigo is the faceclaim for. And even funnier (for lack of better word) is that she’s a Girl Meets World oc. The feeling that you’re never having as good a life as other teenagers? Like you’re missing out? Very her.
2. traitor
Nevaeh Verviene x Damon Salvatore! Although he did cheat so... like “I played dumb but I always knew”?? “Loved you at your worst but that didn’t matter?”?? Heartbreaking and accurate.
3. drivers license
Othello Elliott x Edward Cullen!! This song reminds me of New Moon a lot. It’s probably the memes.
4. 1 step forward, 3 steps back
Sybil Bishop x Nick Burkhardt. Oof... very much. Hurting yourself to keep someone else? Getting your hopes up time and time again? It’s always one step forward, three steps back for them.
5. deja vu
Thank god for repeat permissions! Lmao. Because this song is the Nevaeh/Damon/Elena triangle. Like painfully accurate, it’s almost like Olivia read my mind.
6. good 4 u (aka my fucking jam)
This one also feels very Devaeh, but since I’ve said them twice, I gotta say Betty Strand & Eddie Diaz. Except poor Eddie has no idea he’s doing anything to her.
7. enough for you
Emery x The Doctor! Like “you found someone more exciting. The next second, you were gone” being the other companions (mainly Amy) and random romances like Marie Antoinette? “And maybe I’m not as interesting as the girls you had before” Sarah Jane Smith???
8. happier
Hmm... Annabelle Russ x Zach Morris. This is very niche but she’s my Saved By The Bell oc. She and Kelly are friends, so I feel this song captures her feelings.
9. jealousy, jealousy
OOF! this song. Aphrodite Mikaelson! Aph is obsessed with being the most beautiful, the coolest, the most powerful. She’s mainly obsessed with besting Hope. And she knows rationally that she and Hope can co-exist and both be amazing but god is she angry.
10. favorite crime
Has to be Nevaeh x Damon again... like... wow.
11. hope ur ok
oof, Isaac Gallagher! Some of the lyrics could relate to certain siblings.

Title: Feel The Fire
Author: Annabeth Albert
Genre: Adult Fiction | Romance | Drama | Action | LGBTQ+
Content Warnings: Explicit Sex Scenes
Overall Rating: 9.7/10
Personal Opinion: This sequel to Burn Zone and High Heat was everything to me. Tucker Ryland, a partnerless dad and demisexual is suddenly reunited with his first love, Luis Rivera. They have a lot of history and baggage together but is it possible that they could still work again? Childhood friends and second chances, this book truly has it all!
Couple Classification: Luis Rivera X Tucker Ryland = Nerd X Jock
Do I Own This Book? No.
Spoilers Below For My Likes & Dislikes:
Likes:
- Definitely the best book in the series (thus far) because the stakes do make sense. Linc wanted to leave to put distance between himself and Jacob. Garrick had thought that Rain wanted to leave because Rain wasn’t the staying type. But if the older guys had just talked and truly listened to Jacob and Rain, it would’ve made their relationships go a lot smoother. Luis and Tucker had a history that proved they didn’t work due to distance. Luis had family and career obligations in LA while Tucker had kids and a social network in Oregon. There was no clear answer to how they would stay together but it was clear they wanted so badly to try and be together. Basically I’m saying I like this book more than the others because the solution to their problem wasn’t as obvious. It took real sacrifice on their part for them to work.
- Communication! There was no reason for a deadly fire for them to realize they couldn’t stand to be away from each other. But also, when they had been reunited after two decades of radio silence, they finally decided to clear the air about their past. Both of them were able to admit their fault in what happened between them. Tucker was afraid and Luis wasn’t being flexible. But in the end, Tucker grew up. He was able to break away from his phobic father and brother and embraced himself as a demisexual man who just so happened to be more inclined toward men. And I love that he had that open line of communication with his sons and with Heidi about it. About how he wanted to be himself and wanted to make sure that his children understood that he would love and respect them no matter how they identified.
- Just the mere fact that we had a character on the asexual spectrum at all is honestly so amazing. And the fact that Luis was so respectful of that when they were having sex was so adorable. He never pushed for sex, he was perfectly content with cuddling and dates and feeding Tucker and it was just domestic bliss.
- Speaking of domestic bliss, I am never going to get over Walker walking in on Luis in the kitchen after the night he had just fucked Walker’s dad. I mean, talk about awkward and hilarious! But Luis handled it well and all of his interactions with Walker were honestly so pleasant. He became a sort of confidante for Walker when he was going through a tough time and didn’t know how to talk about it with his parents. I love that. I also love the fact that Wade was so supportive of his dad getting laid. He even gave Tucker a condom! Those boys were raised right and I think Tucker, Heidi, and Isaac should all be very proud.
- I don’t think I talked enough about Wade. He is literally just so funny. The way he supports his dad and Luis. The fact that he proposed going to Disney the moment his dad said he might be job hunting in California. The fact that he eats like a pig. He kills me.
- I also need to talk about the fact that they ended up in California with two kittens! Like they didn’t stay in Oregon like the other two couples did and I support that! But I also love that they’ve stayed connected to Garrick and Rain and hopefully Linc too. And oh my god, Garrick’s dad was also in the book and he offered veggie options to Luis with absolutely no comment or double-take on the amount of queers in his son’s home. He’s come so far and I love them all so much.
Dislikes:
- A shame that Jacob didn’t get any lines in this book at all. He’s not exactly relevant huh. Which only makes me think about the fact that Wyatt really made all of the queers in town suffer and for what. Luis actually remembered that bigot so he clearly left an impact. And I’m guessing Luis was one of the few out people in their school too since Garrick had only come out five years prior and both Linc and Tucker were in the closet. Ugh, I hate thinking that Wyatt made people feel bad to be themselves, especially if they already had families doing that. Tucker didn’t deserve a shit dad and brother like that. To think that they would actually shut him out too. But I’m glad Tucker stood up to them when they were out here talking shit about Heidi. Just fuck them. All bigots.
- Fuck Mary Anne too. She made all these plans for her future with Walker and then just ended up falling for an exchange student? She made him feel like he had no choice but to stay with her in Oregon even though his dream was to be a marine biologist and those courses aren’t available in their state. Like, she is truly a terrible girlfriend if she thinks she can just control him like that. But the fact that she wasn’t shown at all made me feel better because I knew she and Walker weren’t going to last. And I was right. In the end, they broke up around January. And I’m glad Tucker and Luis are there to comfort him.
- Not many gripes in this book to be honest. Would I have liked for them to not fight? Yes, but unlike in the other books, no one had stormed out or said something to truly hurt the other. The bar is so low but they barely managed to step over it. Besides, this seemed like a reasonable couple fight and one that didn’t raise red flags for me.

Ringside seat – Your guide to the return of Top Rank Boxing
Jun 6, 2020
Steve KimESPN
Boxing returns to the United States this week as Top Rank promotes cards on Tuesday and Thursday night. These will be the first shows in North America in which Top Rank has been involved since the Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua rematch on Feb. 22.
There were two Top Rank cards canceled in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, and outside of a few minor fight cards internationally, these upcoming shows represent the restart of the sport on a much larger scale.
Starting this week, there will be cards staged by Top Rank that will air on various ESPN platforms multiple times a week. Other promotional outlets and networks will soon follow suit with their own schedule of fights, with Premier Boxing Champions set to hold fight cards beginning in mid-July and Matchroom Boxing’s next card set for July 25.
But first things first. Here’s what you need to know ahead of the upcoming week of fights at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas.
Tuesday
Olympic silver medalist Shakur Stevenson (13-0, 7 KOs), who faces Felix Caraballo (13-1-2, 9 KOs), won the vacant WBO featherweight title last October by easily outboxing Joet Gonzalez over 12 rounds. But in this headliner, his title won’t be on the line, as this scheduled 10-round fight will take place at junior lightweight.
Top Rank Boxing is on ESPN and ESPN+. Subscribe to ESPN+ to get exclusive boxing events, weigh-ins and more.
Tuesday, 7 p.m. ET on ESPN: Shakur Stevenson vs. Felix Caraballo, 10 rounds, junior lightweights
Thursday, 7 p.m. ET on ESPN: Jessie Magdaleno vs. Yenifel Vicente, 10 rounds, junior lightweights
Stevenson, the 22-year-old native of Newark, New Jersey, and 2016 Olympian, was bitterly disappointed when his March 14 title defense against Miguel Marriaga was canceled. It was a lost weekend he says he’ll never forget.
“I trained eight weeks, spent a lot of money on training camp, and then to find out that I wasn’t getting paid, that kind of made me mad,” Stevenson said. “To find out I wasn’t fighting made me mad because I put a lot of work in. I was going to perform.”
There has been talk of a unification bout with IBF titlist Josh Warrington, but the two sides seem to be going in different directions, after Warrington left promoter Frank Warren, who works closely with Top Rank, to sign with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. At this point, because Stevenson is still growing, the more time that passes without a fight against Warrington, the more likley it is that Stevenson might not even go back to 126 to defend that belt.
Shakur Stevenson is 13-0 and holds the WBO featherweight title. Andrew Mills/NJ Advance Media via AP
“I don’t know, yet. I’ve got to see how I feel at 130, making the 130 weight,” Stevenson said. “That will be a question I can answer for you after the fight.”
The co-main event is a women’s junior lightweight bout between another 2016 U.S. Olympian, Mikaela Mayer (12-0, 5 KOs), and Helen Joseph (17-4-2, 10 KOs). Mayer has made it clear that she wants a title shot — sooner, rather than later — and this figures to be her toughest test to date as a pro. Joseph will give Mayer all she can handle; from a physical standpoint, Joseph will be the strongest fighter Mayer has faced in her career.
On the undercard, Robeisy Ramirez (2-1, 2 KOs) matches up with Yueri Andujar (5-3, 3 KOs) in a six-round featherweight contest as he looks to push further past a disastrous pro debut. Ramirez was signed to a much ballyhooed contract with Top Rank last year, as he has two Olympic gold medals (2012 and 2016) for Cuba in his trophy case. The boxer he defeated in the gold-medal round in Rio? Stevenson.
Other fights
Heavyweight: Guido Vianello (6-0, 6 KOs) vs. Don Haynesworth (16-3-1, 14 KOs)
Heavyweight: Jared Anderson (3-0, 3 KOs) vs. Johnnie Langston (8-2, 3 KOs)
Middleweight: Quatavious Cash (11-2, 7 KOs) vs. Calvin Metcalf (10-3-1, 3 KOs)
Catching up with: Mikaela Mayer
play
5:22
It’s one of the unlikeliest pairings in boxing, yet Mikaela Mayer and trainer Al Mitchell have not only thrived inside the ring, they’ve also left a lifelong impact on each other off of it.
Mayer was another boxer on a canceled Top Rank card in March and she jumped at the opportunity to perform on the first card back.
“I haven’t fought since October, so it was kind of a bummer that my fight got canceled before I was going to fly out to New York [back in March], and then not knowing how long this was going to last or when we are going to fight.” Mayer said. “So when Top Rank started discussing potentially having a card, [my manager] George [Ruiz] informed me, ‘If they do have a card, they’re going to want you on it. You were one of the last fighters who was supposed to fight.’
“So I was all about it. That’s important to me, I don’t want to be out of the ring for a year. I want to keep the momentum going. I feel I’ve had a great couple of years, but I’m at that point now where I’m ready to step up — and Top Rank’s ready to step me up, too.”
Her enthusiasm doesn’t preclude her from thinking about safety, and that of her 76-year-old trainer.
“My only concern was I didn’t want anyone to get sick because of me, the No. 1 person I was thinking of was someone like coach Al [Mitchell],” she said. “Things have settled down, testing is now opening up, states are opening up. I didn’t know what coach Al was going to say. I called him and we discussed it, ‘Hey, they want me to fight in four, five weeks, how do you feel about that?’
“It just shows how coach Al is. He’s going to live and die boxing, because he was excited. He said, ‘Please, get me out of this house, I’m ready to work, and get back to camp. Let’s do this.'”
By the numbers
Stevenson is the fourth man from the United States in the past 20 years to win both an Olympic boxing medal and a world title, joining Jermain Taylor, Andre Ward and Deontay Wilder.
Predictions
Stevenson vs. Caraballo: Though Bob Arum says that Stevenson is “a master, Floyd Mayeather-type boxer,” given this stage, and how bitterly disappointed he was about his fight being canceled a few months ago, he’s going to want to really make a statement in an event that will be televised nationally. Stevenson TKO7
Mikaela Mayer, left, was to have fought in March, but she’s excited to be fighting on Top Rank’s first card since then. Mikey Williams/Top Rank
Mayer vs. Joseph: This is the best pure matchup of the night. If Mayer is indeed ready to fight for a world title, this is the type of bout that she has to win — against the stout Joseph, who has one of the best monikers in boxing in “Iron Lady.” I’ll go with Mayer by split decision.
Thursday
Former WBO junior featherweight champion Jessie Magdaleno (27-1, 18 KOs) was also slated for the March 14 card at Madison Square Garden. Now, he returns to face Yenifil Vicente (36-4-2, 28 KOs) in a 10-round bout. Since losing his WBO 122-pound belt to Isaac Dogboe via 11th round stoppage, Magdaleno has notched two victories, against Rico Ramos and Rafael Rivera.
In the past, one of the knocks against Magdaleno was a questionable work ethic, which reared its head when he wouldn’t come into fights in top physical condition.
“That was the old Jessie, the immature guy,” Magdaleno said. He admits the loss to Dogboe was a much-needed dose of reality for him. “I’m a grown man, I have my eyes on the future. I have a lot of things I want to get done before I end my career. I’m not going to go through the same mistakes that I did in the past. It’s a new and improved me. I’m just ready to rock ‘n’ roll.”
Jessie Magdaleno hopes to carry the momentum of two straight wins forward into his move up to 130 pounds. Mikey Williams/Top Rank
While Magdaleno was quarantined for the first several weeks of the pandemic, he turned his garage into a makeshift gym, complete with a heavy bag, treadmill, resistance bands, weights and jump rope.
“It’s everything I use in the gym,” Magdaleno said. “It’s hot as well out here in Vegas, so I could train and lose weight here at the house.”
1 Related
The semi-main event on Thursday’s broadcast is a fight that was originally scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, as Adam Lopez (13-2, 6 KOs) faces Luis Coria (12-2, 7 KOs) in a 10-round featherweight bout. Lopez opened some eyes when he willingly accepted an 11th-hour assignment to face former WBO featherweight titlist Oscar Valdez, after Andres Gutierrez missed weight by 11 pounds.
Lopez, who moved up in weight for that fight, put forth a strong performance — even flooring Valdez in the second — before getting stopped in the seventh round. Lopez-Coria figures to be a fun fight between two young fighters with good offensive skills.
Other fights
Lightweight: Bryan Lua (5-0, 2 KOs) vs. Dan Murray (5-3)
Lightweight: Eric Mandragon (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Mike Sanchez (6-0 2 KOs)
Bantamweight: Gabriel Muratalla (2-0, 2 KOs) vs Fernando Robles (2-2)
Catching up with: Adam Lopez
Lopez has fighting genes — his father is the late Hector Lopez, a respected junior welterweight contender in the 1990s. Coming off his strong effort against Valdez, Lopez says he believes Thursday’s fight will be the launch point to bigger and better things, as he moves back down to his natural weight class.
“I’m very excited, I’m looking forward to the fight,” the 24-year-old said. “In my eyes, this fight is more important than my last fight. I’ve just go to confirm to everybody that I’m the real deal and I’m here to make a statement.”
Adam Lopez scored a second-round knockdown against Oscar Valdez before ultimately falling in the seventh round. Mikey Williams/Top Rank
Despite the loss to Valdez, Lopez says he feels what he gained from the notoriety and experience, outweighed the final result of the bout.
“I think it was worth it, I had to take the risk, now I’ve got people’s eyes on me. They want to see Adam Lopez, and that’s what I’m going to give them.”
By the numbers
At featherweight, 41.1% of Magdaleno’s landed punches were to the body (compared to the featherweight average of 29.5%)
Predictions
Magdaleno vs Caraballo: If anything, Caraballo is durable. In 42 professional bouts, he has never been stopped. The 33-year-old from the Dominican Republic, like Magdaleno, began his career as a junior featherweight. So in essence, they are the same size. But Magdaleno, a fast southpaw, with above-average power, has the superior skills. Don’t be fooled by the Dogboe fight. This is a talented guy. Magdaleno should cruise to a wide decision.
Lopez vs Coria: This figures to be an action fight, because if there’s anything that Coria can do, it’s throw a whipping left hook. Coria is in the camp of Robert Garcia, so you know he has had quality sparring in the past and he knows he can’t afford another loss in this early stage of his career. But Lopez is the more well-rounded fighter, and his experience against Valdez will serve him well. Eventually his steadiness and class will overtake Coria, and Lopez will score a late stoppage.

Diamonds Are A Boy’s Best Friend Chapter 22
I fell asleep after Ike left and only woke up when it was full dark and I heard a noise in my room. Groaning, because I knew if I sat up too fast Id be forced to make a mad dash for the bathroom, I heard a sigh. A familiar sigh.
“Ike?” I managed to flip on the bedside lamp and say horizontal. “What time is it?” I blinked against the added light and saw him slumped in the chair he sat in to take off his shoes earlier. “Ike, is something wrong?”
“No, sweetheart, nothing’s wrong.” He was taking off his shoes again. His jacket was already gone, and the tie was quick to follow. Ike stood and unbuttoned the top buttons of his shirt. “Can I join you, Liz?” He sounded as tired as I still felt.
“Of course,” I smiled as he practically flopped into bed. “Tough night?”
His hand found mine and he brought it to his lips. “Like you wouldn’t believe.” We both turned so we were facing one another. His eyes looked tight, and I wondered what had happened from the time he’d said goodbye until this moment. “I told myself, if I could finish what needed to be done, I’d get to see you.” I was still smiling, but I had a ball of worry curling inside of me and threatening to grow. “I paid you dad.”
“How?” His fingers were brushing my tangled hair out of my face and I could almost hear his mind working out how best to explain.
When his thumb touched my lip, I kissed it automatically. “I haven’t told you about how I managed to snag Molly’s hand in marriage, have I?” I shook my head. “You’ve seen Meg, try to imagine their father." A male version of Meg, he doesn't sound like someone I'd care to meet. "And Pop and I told you all about how different my younger days were.” I bit my lip at the memory of laughing with the two of them. “I think you can put together how excited Molly’s dad was at the idea of her marrying me.”
“Molly’s father sounds like a boorish bully.” My description made him chuckle.
“A bit.” He let out a huff of air. “I asked for her hand in marriage, and he countered my offer.” A negotiation for a wife? That sounds interesting. “I had to sign over the kids’ rights to inheriting any of her father’s wealth.” My eyes went wide. “She believed in me, and we couldn’t have imagined that she’d-” Pain burned bright on his face at the memory of her death. “I had a dream, and you’re inside of it. Meg didn’t know that when Molly died, all her portion of the family money reverted to Meg. It helped her make a better choice than this morning.”
“What else did you have to give her?” It sounded like I was asking if he had to prostitute himself to her, but that wasn’t what I wanted to know. “I only meant, how much of this dream I’m inside of does she own now?”
“I knew what you meant, Liz,” he smiled and gave me a soft kiss. “Fifteen percent of my share. It’s worth more than what she gave me, but I had to do something. He threatened that someone would die tonight if I didn’t get him the money.”
Par for the course for my father. “And now?”
“We pass the next hurdle when we get to it, Liz.” I nodded. “As for RIGHT now, I want to hold you and watch you fall asleep.” My smile returned. “I may not be able to wake up next to you yet, but I can take the look of you drifting off with me when I go.”
“Since you want to witness me drifting off, should I leave the light on?” I was teasing him, but he surprised me with an affirmative.
“It doesn’t bother you, does it?” I shook my head. “Then come here, let me hold you.” He pulled me so I was lying cradled on his chest and I listened to his heart as I let my exhaustion take me away.
I woke up disoriented again. Right, I was at the hotel. Father’s get together. Sickness and- I realized with a start that I was still lying on Ike’s chest. I could see the hint of light beyond the closed curtains and swore to myself.
Rising up and feeling the urge to vomit strike hard and fast, I had to push off of him and run from the bed. He didn’t budge as I watched at least part of the crackers I’d dared to eat come rushing back out of me. Flushing, brushing my teeth, and washing my hands, I came back into the room and shook my head. Still asleep.
“Ike,” I was beside him, and I touched his arm. “IKE!” Still nothing, so I shook him and then he groggily came to.
“Liz?” He found me as his eyes finally relented and opened. “Come back to bed, Liz.” He tugged my hand and I tumbled on top of him. “That’s better.” He was snuggling into me again, and I laughed to myself.
“Isaac, my love?” He grunted in response. “It’s morning.” Another grunt. “You’re in MY bed.” I felt him nod above me. “Where SHOULD you be, Ike?”
And he finally heard me. Really heard me. “Shit.” He sat bolt upright and I felt the vertigo hit me as I went along for the ride. “Liz, it’s morning.”
“Yes, I know, I just told you.” I was trying very hard to keep down the bile that I felt rising. Finally it was too much and I pushed off from him and ran back to the bathroom. Seriously, would this ever be over?
I felt him at the bathroom doorway, since my head was almost inside the bowl of the toilet. “Sweetheart, can I get you anything?” I could hear his clothes rustling so I knew he was getting put back together. I shook my head, not trusting that my time becoming acquainted with the porcelain bowl was over.
He waited until I was finished and on my feet. And as he kissed my freshly brushed mouth, we heard a knock on my hotel room door, and a voice that had us both freeze in our tracks.
“Liz?” Vera called, quiet, but loud enough for us to hear. “Liz, are you awake?” Damn it. “Please answer the door, I just found out you checked in yesterday and I need your help.” I hoped Ike would have a long chat with his employees about guests’ privacy after this.
I did something I probably shouldn’t have, but I panicked. I pushed Ike into the bathroom and shut the door. Then I opened the locked door and hoped that my face reflected how sick I felt.
“Vera? What’s wrong?” She looked as panicked as I’d felt when I heard her voice while her husband was reacquainting himself with my tongue. She shocked me by brushing past me into my room. Where did her manners go? She was wringing her hands and looking like a caged animal.
“Oh, Liz, I don’t know what to do.” I waited, since I wasn’t supposed to know that Ike hadn’t gone home last night. “It’s Ike, he wasn’t in bed when I woke up, and I stayed up half the night waiting for him. His car is here, but he’s not.”
I watched her pace, praying once my eyes noticed that Ike had only partially redressed himself because sitting in the middle of the table was his tie and under the chair sat his shoes, that she was too distraught to notice. Damn it.
“Vera,” I got her attention on me, still standing by the door. “Did you check his office? My classmates used to talk about how their fathers sometimes became so engrossed with their work that they’d fall asleep in their offices.” Actually, what my classmates had said was that it was their fathers’ favorite excuse when they were seeing their mistresses, but needs must. She shook her head. “Go check, and give me a moment or two to get myself presentable and I’ll meet you in the Rivera for breakfast. You can eat, and we’ll figure this out, alright?” She nodded, looking like she was going to burst into tears. “Stay calm, Vera, until we know something is wrong.”
“You’re right, Liz.” She straightened her back and forced herself back into the calm woman I’d first met. “I’ll check his office. He’s been working so hard that I’m sure what you said happened. He might even be upstairs already, getting a shower and dressed for a new day.” I smiled reassuringly at her and opened the door. “Thank you, Liz,” she offered, and I prayed that as she gave me an air kiss on the cheek that her extra tall height didn’t put Ike’s discarded clothing in her direct line of sight.
Ike was grinning like a complete fool when I opened the bathroom door. “I have never seen you ruffled before, Liz, that was pretty interesting.”
I raised an eyebrow as he wrapped his arms around my waste and stared down at me. “I’m sick, I don’t think straight when I’m sick.” I sniffed. “And if I wasn’t so ill, I’d have noticed that you’re in your socks and your tie is over there with your shoes.” I gestured to the table.
“I could have popped out of the bathroom and we could be done with the hiding.” I shook my head and leaned into his body. His hands were rubbing my back and I was loath to let him go.
“You have to go,” I truly hated it, but this wasn’t the right way. “She deserves better than this.”
“Hey,” I looked up at him. “So do you.” He kissed me again, reminding me of where we’d been interrupted. “I love you, Liz, I do and we WILL fix this.” I nodded, feeling more and more uncertain.
“Get dressed, Ike.” I sat on the edge of the bed and watched. “I have to get ready too. Breakfast sounds,” I could actually feel the blood leave my face at the thought of it. “Enjoyable.”
“Want me to distract her, that might get you off the hook.” I squinted at him wondering how he planned to distract her. “Not that way, Liz.” He shook his head. “She’s been making noise about wanting to go back to dancing.” My shock must have been easy to read. “Yeah, my thoughts exactly. She’s spoiling for an argument, this can be the catalyst.”
“Actually, that sounds like a good idea.” I was tired again, from standing up and having nothing in my stomach, no doubt. “I plan on having another nap.”
“Get back in bed, sweetheart, rest.” I did, because I felt like I’d run miles. “The next time I wake up next to you, I promise it won't end up like this." My smile at the thought of a day like that made his own return. "I’ll check in later, alright?” I weakly nodded. He kissed me on my forehead, I lost the battle to keep my eyes open to watch him go, and was out completely before the door shut behind him.
The ringing phone woke me. Groaning, I rolled over and answered it. “Hello?”
“Elizabeth?” I rolled my eyes at the sound of my father’s voice. “Are you ready to come home?”
“No.” I turned to hang up again, but I heard him speaking. “What was that?”
“Come home, Liz, we need to talk.” Another eye roll.
I sighed loud enough to get my point across. “I finally got to rest, Father, I don’t want to leave this bed.” I heard him chuckle. “What now?” I was irritated and it came through loud and clear.
“Come home.” An order, I knew it. “Now.”
I walked through the front door not an hour later and saw him lounging by the pool. Maybe I could smash something heavy onto his head and convince everyone a tile fell off the roof. Then I wouldn’t have to deal with him ever again. That was a pleasant thought that carried me outside, with a real smile on my face.
“Don’t you look happy?” Yes, because I’m imagining your brain matter coating the patio. “How was your night, did you sleep well?”
“I slept like the dead,” my smile grew, like I’m picturing you right now. “Why do you ask?”
“You didn’t hear?” I waited, clearly he was bursting at his seams to break some news to me. “I guess having Ike to yourself for a full night, even if it did come with a surprise visit from the little wife-” He stopped and took in my tiny stature. “OK, she’s not so ‘little’ compared to you, but I could see why you might have missed it.” What did I miss? “They found a body in the pool this morning.”
“And?” The boredom I felt was evident. “Somebody drowned because they took a swim after having too much to drink.” I shrugged. Accidents happen when you’re unintelligent.
“Liz, honestly, do you think I’d share if it were an accident?” I rolled my eyes. “It was the burglar. This clown that did diving tricks for the tourists.” I vaguely recalled someone in a stupid suit on the diving board during one of my lunches with Vera. And I think that she had mentioned the break-ins.
“What a tragedy.” I sighed, and leaned against the wall. “Can I go now?”
He shook his head and sighed. “You are such a disappointment sometimes, Elizabeth. You’re not curious, you don’t ask questions to get more information, you just look down your nose at us little people.”
I tilted my head to study him. “I don’t ask questions because unlike my father, ‘The Butcher’, I don’t thrive on gore and other people’s pain. I don’t find a ‘diving clown’ throwing themselves off the roof after he’d burglarized the building all that interesting, so I don’t want details. It’s morbid.” I smiled at him and decided to share what had made me smile so happily upon my return to his presence. “I think I’m more like you than you think. Do you want to know the true source of my happiness as I walked out here to be forced into this unbearable conversation with you?” He smirked, thinking that I was innocent and tame. “I was wondering how to bash your head in and make it look as though a roof tile had done the damage. I was thinking how beautiful the insides of your skull would look splashed across the Spanish tile that makes up this patio. And I was wondering, after I’d done this gruesome act, how I’d manage to act the part of a grieving daughter when all I’d really want to do is dance on your grave?”
I turned and walked away, because for once, I’d rendered him speechless.

Kailyn Lowry Defeats Chris Lopez in Court. But What Did She Win?

Kailyn Lowry Defeats Chris Lopez in Court. But What Did She Win?
Kailyn Lowry can finally reveal the name of her third son.
Yes, we know, the Teen Mom star actually did this back in October, telling fans that her latest child is named Lux Russell and that he was born on August 5, 2017.
She also added that Lux’s last name was Lowry… but was it really?
Was it legally?
At the time, that answer was no.
At the time, she was still battling over this issue with ex-boyfriend Chris Lopez.
Now, however, several months later?
Scroll down to learn why Kailyn can state her son’s full name with the certainty, due to a new official ruling…
1. Meet Lux Russell… LOWRY!
As first reported by Radar Online, a clerk from Kent County Court of Common Pleas said on April 11 that Kailyn’s name change petition was granted on April 11. She had filed the request on November 13, 2017.
2. A Name Change Petition, Huh?
This would seem to imply that the child’s original name, on his birth certificate, was actually Lopez, after his biological father, Chris. Neither Chris nor Kailyn has ever claimed the two were especially close at any point.
3. Lux, Of Course, is Kailyn’s Third Child
She has a seven-year old named Isaac with ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera and a four-year old named Lincoln with ex-husband Javi Marroquin. She did have close relationships with those past lovers for a long time — but this simply was never the case with Chris Lopez.
4. Lux and Daddy
In March of 2018, Lowry dissed Lopez as an “Instagram parent” after he posted a photo of their son online, to which he replied that a person who “literally made a living off of putting kids on TV and social media” shouldn’t talk.
5. Like We Said, Things Were Contentious For Awhile
Just how contentious? Lowry said in December that Lopez is only entitled to “supervised visits” with his son, but these could at least take place anywhere, as long as a third party was in the picture.
6. Lopez and Lowry, Back in the Day
Lopez was sort of around when Lux was born in August, but he never signed any forms at the hospital stating paternity, likely so Lowry can’t ever file for child support. He was simply in the room when his son was born.

Shoulds, Wants, and Oprah
Recently Nicole discovered, to her horror, that the one question Oprah Winfrey claims to be the single most important question for any person to answer in their lifetime -- What do I want? -- was the one question she couldn’t answer. Ever since discovering this, she has worked to find her answers in her creative life as well as her life as a whole. After listening to author and creativity coach, Jessica Abel, discuss the “shoulds” in our lives, Nicole discovered they can lead us all to the answer to our wants which will then help us reach for all our dreams -- especially when it comes to our writing careers.
