Please say more about the awful Asian designs in Danny Phantom. I'm not Asian but I'd love to have a rundown on the elements that make them offensive so I can avoid and critique those elements in other works. And also you deserve to speak your mind about it

im gonna mostly talk about southeast asian designs since thats what i am and the most familiar with and also what i feel are the show's worst transgression with their casual depictions. tw for racist imagery im gonna link pictures.

there's not much to say about the designs aside from, you know, everything but things to note are the unnatural yellow tone for the skin and closed slanted eyes. veggie burger (fan name for the bg character in the middle) also suffers from the huge nose that sometimes shows up in racist depictions. the straight edge/cut hair as well is somewhat stereotypical. this one isn't as bad but in conjunction with everything else its not ideal. i will give the smallest molecule of credit that at the very least dp never gave any of these bg characters buck teeth.

some depictions are better than others, but theres still missteps happening in one aspect or another. kwan's eyes in a lot of shots/episodes can be too skinny and even too slanted, the girl in the middle is almost perfect but her skin is too yellow (she looks kinda okay on my computer screen but i remember when watching dp on my tv she looked real brightly yellow), and principle ishiyama (who was weirdly forgotten about pretty early on in the show and was replaced by lancer doing most of the school stuff despite not being principle?? which is a whole other issue with how dp treats its poc characters) the same usual notes about the slanted eyes but also the upturned nose is pretty reminiscent of racist japanese art during ww2. again it is not the worst way to draw a nose but combined with everything else in this show's depiction of asian characters its not great, they are on thin ice man.

not to mention, principle ishiyama is the only character here with brown eyes. this is a problem that extends to all poc characters in dp and to my knowledge i think ishiyama might be the only one with them tbh. this is, again, a whole other issue though.

i think the thing that bothers me most about these designs though is that dp is very clearly aware that these depictions are bad. the only difference between the first set of characters and the second is one singular thing: they have a clear speaking role.

suddenly when theyre not stock background characters, dp knows how to act when drawing them. i cannot for the life of me find the image of it, but the last jock guy in the first set gets a speaking role in reign storm (he's cosplaying phantom) and he is drawn with proper open eyes! (theyre also blue but whatever) it just makes me sad that this was a clear choice they made.

the show also went in a different direction in the final product, but early development stuff was really drawing from a lot of japanese/asian influences like danny was originally gonna have a motorcycle (pulling from ghost in the shell) and was even referenced in the show via the akira motorcycle reference (which i once again, for the life of me, cannot find. danny took johnny 13's motorcycle and did the classic akira slide i think it was in million dollar ghost?? idk whichever one where the giw are trying to blow up the ghost zone). danny's name was originally gonna be jackie, named after jackie chan, this i assume was given to jack fenton afterwards. and i think the show having a more martial arts direction with the action was also gonna be a thing? that one could be wrong dont quote me on that, there was an episode where danny and vlad have like a weird ninja fight though im pretty sure.

either way my point here is that they wanted to pull from all these influences and it was prominent enough during development that they sprinkle references to it throughout the show and yet their portrayal and treatment of asian characters in the show is so abysmal it just feels Bad™, you know? i cant really put it more eloquently than that, like its very take and no give with it.

it overall just puts a bad taste in my mouth, and its sad that it still affects people years later. like i mentioned in the tags of the post that started this discussion with that whole old trend of putting yourself into the bg of dp screenshots, i felt alienated by that. and its not the people who participated's fault obviously but most of the people i saw participating were white fans (going off of how they drew themselves) and it made me a bit mad that they were able to enjoy the style of the show in a more carefree manner than i ever could. i didnt want to ruin anyone's fun obviously, but a small part of me wanted to bring to light how i wasnt on equal ground with them in that situation.

A/N... thanks so much for the request, i'm glad you liked my writing! i was slightly confused by your prompt (which isn't your fault dw ^^) so i decided to do heacanons with how you (reader) would comfort him and how he would act when upset rather than reasons why he's crying, i hope that's ok ♡

♪ it's very rare for cyno to let you see him when he cries, so when he's stood infront of you, shoulders slumped over and shaking, your heart ached.

♪ the two of you would stand for a moment, you being frozen with shock, cyno being too embarrassed to mutter a word. only when he starts to break down more do you snap yourself out of it, holding your arms out for him to lean into your chest; which he did.

♪ he seemed almost timid when he entered your arms, hiding his face in your chest, but not wrapping himself around you. instead, he stood with his arms stiff at his sides, his head buried in your shirt.

♪ you, however, do hold him, squeezing him slightly and rubbing circles on his back, whispering sweet nothings in his ear as he let out choked sobs.

"you're ok, shhh, everything's gonna be ok..." "i love you... so much" "just let it all out, love, cry as much as you need"

♪ eventually, he does calm down, his breathing evening out, his shoulders no longer trembling under your touch. his face is still pressed into your chest though, and you can feel the dampness of his tears against you. you didn't mind, of course, but cyno made sure to apologise once he pulled away, wiping his face with his hands and sighing deeply

"i'm- sorry about that... i think i'm going to head back out, there are some things i need to finish up..." "no, stay"

♪ you'd insist, keeping a firm grip on his wrist as he tried to walk away; there's no way in teyvat that you'd let him keep working when he'd come to you crying.

♪ pulling him back towards you, you rest your hands on his shoulders, scanning his face for any signs of discomfort before kissing his nose. a few stray tears began to roll down his cheeks, but you kissed them away before he had the chance to wipe them away himself.

"you looked so... so broken when you came in, cyno. i can't let you go back out there when you're this upset... so please, stay?"

♪ he sighs, nodding meekly and looking into your eyes, seeing only a look of pure adoration...

"don't- don't look at me like that..." "like what?" "like that" "love, i think you're going to have to be more specific i-" "[name]" "alright, alright, i'm sorry"

♪ you apologise, stiiffling your laugh as you slide your hands down from his shoulders, intertwining your fingers with his. gently, you pull him behind you, taking the two of you to the bedroom where you'd cuddle until the sun sets.

♪ cuddles with cyno are more comforting and more cozy than any rainy evening, or any hot chocolate, or book, or candle; archons, it was better than all of those combined. the way he hugs you is just perfect, and he looks so pretty with his hair all in his face. you love his bedhead, being able to tuck stray hairs behind his ear is the thing you looks forward to every morning.

♪ however, because your poor boyfriend was upset, and probably feeling quite vulnerable, you decided to be the one holding him; wrapping your arms around his waist and pulling him into you, nestling your face in his hair and taking in his scent. he was quite flustered, to say the least, thinking you weren't aware of his flushed pink cheeks, or the way he jolted slightly when he felt your hands snaking around him.

"is this ok?" "... yes, just, don't let go, 'kay?" "i won't, i promise... get some sleep, love, you can tell me all about it tomorrow" "goodnight, [name], i love you" "i love you, cyno, sleep well"

♪ and with that, you kiss him goodnight, shuffling around slightly to find the perfect position, pulling the covers up so that they're just below cyno's nose, making sure he was comfortable before you let yourself drift off to sleep...

So i had a fun idea. We all know the Season four diner or deli scene and the multiple variations of five there. It’s funny to me cause it’s obvious there is some odd system they have where they all have a certain name and style so no one is confused. I decided to go through and name the certain fives. this is all personal opinion and thought so please no hate. its really a to each there own situation theres no need to fight about it.

So let’s get the ones we have been aware of out the way. We know booth five being the one who called S4 five over to his table. we know waiter five and brisket five being the ones we have been made aware of. There is also that one five with the news paper. Now i have heard him be referred to as newspaper five OR good with numbers five. now i don’t remember if booth five referred to newspaper/good with numbers five with any if those names but if he didnt here we are. Now that we got those obvious fives out the way i just wanna say i dont have the answer for all of them cause some of the things they are doing are quite mundane like eating soup and i dont think anyone is gonna refer to him as something like soup five i dont think that will ever happen. Now if my memory serves me right there is two fives writing in a notebook and i thought thats pretty normal for five he has always had something to write in but hey where’s the creativity in that and i thought what if there is a mathematician five who is just obsessing with numbers and another who could be documenting his days in the deli diner thing. another thought that crossed my mind that would be more in character is a version of him that has gone wacko with theories about timelines and events and he is just writing them down to either investigate or obsess over later. now in this scene there are a few different fives that i cant quite place my finger on what version of five they might be and what to call them so if you have an idea don’t be afraid to comment an idea.

Now this scene right here has the obvious booth five and brisket five. There is one version that has a name not quite world wide but we have it which is loose neck tie five. Now people might argue and say thats drunk five but i don’t think so. if my memory serves me right again (Cause i flat out refuse to go see any of those episodes again) drunk five was up to some shenanigans and needed another fives help so i dont think loose necktie five is drunk five. Speaking on drunk five if your confused where i got that if you have subtitles on or listen close enough you will see a conversation talking about drunk five. then there is the obvious five over there that seems to be antsy considering his stance in both pictures. either he is a five just filled with impatience to get his order, a five just in general riddled with anxiety or he could just be waiting. So you can imagine his name is either anxious five or waiting five depending on what you decide (again everything is up for debate. my word is not law here okay?). if you also look behind the counter with brisket five is another five. Now we dont exactly see what he is doing so the best i can offer is chef five.

Again none of my words are law and set so please feel free to name them whatever you want.

Also if you have idea’s for what some of the names of the versions of five i didnt get or think of are please feel free to comment or come up with an idea. so please up have fun.

Friends, Right?

Authors note: this is a longer fic it’s 2.7k. We need more elisa fics and i had the time so i hope you all like it. Also sorry this isnt as aesthetically pleasing as some of yours with the pictures and the headers. It’s 1:30 am, i just finished this no editing we die like men!

Since joining the PSGs feminine team you had made good friends with most of the girls. But there was one in particular who you had become great friends with, Elisa. Before you knew that you two would come to be such great friends you’d found her cute. Now knowing how compatible you two were, it felt impossible to be around her and not fall deeper into love with her as you spent more time together.

This is what made it so hard to admit that while you were falling for her more every time you saw her, she didn’t reciprocate your feelings. Sure there were times when she was leaving where she’d linger longer than was perhaps strictly normal but that was how female friendships worked. It was perfectly normal to hug three times for at least 10 seconds before she actually left and for her to press a kiss to your forehead when you guys were watching a movie. You liked to see things that weren’t there. Your crush on Elisa was clouding your judgement. And if you stayed up late thinking about those lingering hugs…..well that was no one's business but your own.

One morning she came to pick you up because your car was in the shop. As a thanks to her you paid for your morning smoothies and shared the protein bars you packed so you could snack through the day. While in the car elisa rests her right arm on the middle console focusing on the long stretch of road ahead of her. Softly some song from her playlist wafts through the car gently lulling you into a half state of awareness. Vaguely you’re aware the car has stopped and you should start moving but right as you're about to wake yourself up, elisa speaks to you from the driver's seat.

“Y/n?” She whispers.

You blink your eyes open to see you’re already there.

Your eyes slide over to where elisa is softly gazing at you. She looks at you in the way you sometimes imagine you must look when you’re trying to memorise her every feature for when it’s no longer yours to gaze at. The look on her face leaves you breathless, it times like this where you feel like she might reciprocate your feelings. And then the spell breaks and she blinks her gaze away from you to look out the wind shield again, her face wiped as clean as it can be this early in the morning.

“Come on we’re gonna be late” She says and opens her car door.

Just friends, right?

A week later during a game she trips another player and gets yellow carded. Now while Elisa has a reputation for……revelling in the physical side of the game this time you have to agree this girl had it coming. Constantly backing up into Elisas space and generally crowding her was one way to get the brunette in an angry mood. As Elisa begins to get angrier while talking to the ref your teammates signal you to come and get her off the field. Running over to her you catch her forearm and cut off her swearing at the referee who could not look more phased if she tried.

“Elisa let it go, she had it coming but theres nothing we can do about it now right? You’re just going to piss the ref off even more and that doesn’t work in anyone's favour.”

Heaving, she finally turns her head towards you. With the bright stadium lights on her, you can see every droplet of sweat shining on her face. You’re so far gone for her instead of thinking its gross you think it’s a product of her hard work, it’s beautiful. Her nose is shining with the perspiration and she’s never looked better, except maybe in her pjs on the couch. You two lock eyes and have a silent conversation, pleading with her to come with you. Finally her gaze drops from your eyes to your lips to where your hand is still wrapped around her forearm. Her gaze flicks back up to your eyes shining with worry. Her shoulders drop and she begins to move towards the sidelines where you’ve just come from. You let go of her forearm and walk slightly behind her. You can feel the energy radiating off her. She slows to let you catch up and as you fall into step with her you feel her fingers brush yours a couple times before she interlocks your fingers and tightly. All the pent up energy is going into holding your hand and pulling you to the side. As you sit down on the bench she continues to clutch your hand while staring intensely onto the field.

“Elisa? You’re welcome to hold my hand to soothe yourself but if I could switch to the other hand that would be great.” You say once she calmed down slightly.

Still not speaking she slowly loosens her grip on your hand. True to your word you give her the other hand, this time using the hand closest to her you gently rub your hand in soothing circles on her back to help calm her down. Over time you feel her begin to relax against you and your touch until the end of the game when she gets up to change and get ready to go home. But you’re just Friends, Right?

Two weeks after that you and a couple of the girls are out at a bar celebrating a win and no training in the morning. You’re on your first drink that tastes slightly fruity which you’ve been sipping on for a while now. You’re feeling warm and fuzzy surrounded by the people who love you the most in the world. Elisa sits next to you occasionally glazing around but otherwise focused on the conversation at hand. Her arm is thrown around the backs of your chairs, her fingers occasionally brushing your shoulder.

“So if you had to pick someone on the team to date, who would you date?” Sakina giggles.

Having just taken a sip of your drink you gag slightly and sputter, meeting the mischievous twinkling eye of Sakina Karchaoui. She knows exactly what she’s just done. Although you haven't told anyone outside of one person who’s not even in the soccer world Sakina seems to have picked up on your little (massive, gigantic, personally might go as far as to say in love) crush on Elisa. By the way she’s making eyes at the other girls it's clear they’ve been let in on the message and are giggling at your demise too. Out of the corner of your eye you see Elisa spit some of her drink out back into her cup upon hearing the comment. Although you avoid looking at her in the slightest you feel the shift in weight beside you as she leans away from you and tucks her arm back into herself.

“Probably you Sakina, we’re pretty good friends and we’d be compatible enough I think” Elis answers in a semi dry tone.

Your stomach sinks. Even if she was forced into dating someone on the team it still wouldn’t be you. The jealousy leaves you slightly nauseous and your cheeks feel like they’re on fire.

Sakina is clearly waiting for an answer and burning holes into your head.

“Um,” you begin to answer “I’m not sure I think I see you all as more of sisters than anything else.”

You see Elisa who’d previously been intently and quietly eyeing you since you started speaking, begin to fidget and mutter something about drink before she gets up and takes her half full glass with her up to the bar. As soon as you feel she’s gone the rest of the table erupts into giggles.

“Really Sakina could you have been anyone more obvious about it? Why not tattoo Y/n has a crush on elisa on my forehead, i’m sure that would have been a less painful situation”

“Please Y/n relax I wouldn’t have said anything if i didn’t think there was a chance she liked you back-”

“Well you heard it straight from the source that she doesn’t so can we just drop it? Please? I'd like to forget that I'm in love with my best friend for one night.”

Sakinas face falls and she looks sorry. You feel bad for snapping at her but Elisa can’t know about your crush. It would ruin your relationship and you aren’t ready to let her go yet. You begin to scan the bar for Elisa. You see her standing at the bar facing a pretty blonde girl who’s got her hand on your- Elisas bicep. The blonde is leaning into her space and laughing at whatever joke Elisas just told based on the smile on her face. She’s cool looking, she's blonde, beautiful, got a sleeve of tattoos, and looks gorgeous next to elisa. The sight makes your stomach churn. Suddenly any chance of salvation of the good mood you had is gone and you’re as sober as you can be. Elisa is clearly interested based on her body language, why wouldn’t she be? It's not like you're together. So Elisa can take her home to the flat you’ve been in and have sex with her on the couch you’ve been on or the bed you’ve had sleepovers in or on the counter where you’ve cooked together and that's fine. You were going to have to get used to seeing Elisa with someone else eventually. It’s just that maybe deep down you had been hoping you weren’t just friends after all, But tonight has shattered that illusion and thank god because you needed to get over it, is what you’re telling yourself.

Following your line of sight Sakinas face falls into one of pity for you.

“Don't Sakina. It was going to happen eventually and I need to get over it.”

You glance over again to see Elisa looking over at you while she stands with the blonde woman, you try to give her an encouraging nod and something you hope looks like a smile. To be honest you don't really want to be out right now in these jeans and this itchy sweater, you want to go home.

“Honestly guys…..I think I'm just gonna go home and watch a movie but thanks for coming out tonight.”

The girls give you a sad look as you pick your coat up from the back of your chair and grab your bag. As you walk to the door you have to walk past the bar, brushing past elisa she doesn’t even turn her head to acknowledge you as you step out into the cold night.

The drive home felt the longest it ever had. Peeling off your layers of clothing and getting into your at home sweatpants had never felt so great. Although it isn’t a part of your diet you figured tonight called for some sweet treat therapy. Set up on the couch as you’re flipping through movies on netflix deciding which garbage film you can try not to cry to there's a familiar rap on your door.

You pause.

Another soft knock.

“Y/n? Cherie?Open the door please.”

No response.

“Unless you’ve gone to bed but i can see the lights so please come up the door.”

You slowly make your way up off the couch, placing your sweet treat on your coffee table.

As you stand before the door you can hear her breathing from the other side, you can feel her warmth and energy radiating through the door, it’s like nothing can keep her fro. You. You’ll never escape from her. A fresh set of tears springs to your eyes but you quickly swallow them before unlocking and opening the door.

Elisa looks like she’s been thoroughly made out with or at least something was running through her hair continuously. How dare she, you think, come to me after being with someone else, isn’t my love enough? You swallow it down and force the door open wider for her to slip inside and close the flat door behind her. Now in harsh overhead lighting you can see the panic, bewilderment, and sadness lurking in her brown eyes.

She opens her mouth and closes it a couple times before finally croaking out, “You left and you didn’t say goodbye.”

“You were a little busy at the moment and i wasn’t feeling well so i came home.”

“You aren't feeling well? Is there something i can do or something i can get for you?”

“No I just,” You sigh and rub your hands over your face before looking up at her “I’m tired so I came home.”

“Oh okay well did you want me to stay? We can watch *insert your comfort movie/tv show*!”

The sight of her dishevelled hair and clothing is making you more angry and sad by the minute. All you want to do is give her a set of your sweats and have her wear your clothing but this has to stop. O more blurry lines it hurts too much.

The tears feel like they’re hiding right beneath the surface as you say, “Elisa honestly I'm really tired I think I’ll go to bed.”

“Okay well I’ve had drinks so maybe i can stay over and tomorrow morning we can go for brunch and a walk-”

“Elisa, Enough!”

“What?”

Oh here comes the word vomit.

“You can’t just make out or sleep with someone else and then come over here and expect us to go to brunch and on scenic walks and watch movies snuggled up on the couch and can’t do it anymore, I can't do this anymore!” You finish.

Elisas brown eyes are wide with shock and she looks hurt by the time you’ve finished.

Her eye brows furrow and her lips purse in, she reaches out slightly to grab your arm which is hanging at your side but misses and brushes the side of your hip where your shirt has begun to ride up. Her warm palm against your cold skin feels like the best thing in the world right now, all you want to do is take it all back but the way she’s looking at you now like she doesn’t understand what you mean hurts you more than it will ever hurt her.

“Elisa, i think you should go”

“No” She shakes her head as she sways forward slowly inching into your space. You should not be letting her in but what's one last time right? Her hand comes up to rest on the cold path of skin near your hip and the other one wraps around your shoulders. She presses kisses to the top of your head while gently rocking. She takes a deep inhale before releasing you and looking at you face to face.

“Y/n, look at me” She looks more sober than she did before when she pulls back. “I did not sleep or make out with anyone nor do I want to unless it’s with you. My hair looks like this because I was worried about you leaving without saying goodbye. I was running my hands through it the whole way here. The girl you saw me with in the bar? I wouldn’t care if she was aphrodite because I love you. I want you. I know this isn’t a good time but I’m sick of not saying anything and having almost moments. This is our moment, if you want it to be. I love you.”

Her eyes peer deep into yours looking for the same sentiment but instead you cup her face with your hands and bring your noses up to brush. As your noses bump into each other and your lips brush you whisper “I love you too” and kiss her. The fuzzy warm feeling runs from your head to your toes heating you up all over. As you pull away both of you smile largely and you lay your head on her chest as you stand there and hug for as long as you want because as it turns out you aren’t just Friends, Right?

I want to like Rhaenicent but I feel like Alicent protects Rhaenyra and cares for her way more than Rhaenyra does for her. Adult Rhaenicent seems rather one sided to me ngl. One way Rhaenyra betrayed Alicent was by marrying Daemon, a man who absolutely despises the Hightowers and who wouldn’t hesitate to slaughter Alicent’s children. Does Rhaenyra really not realize how ruthless Daemon is? Daemon is arguably the biggest threat to the Green kids who are Rhaenyra’s own siblings. It just kills me that Alicent stood up to her abuser for Rhaenyra’s life in 1x09 and Rhaenyra has never done anything of that severity for Alicent. And Rhaenyra will likely never know how much Alicent fought to save her. Idk, I just feel like Alicent deserves someone who will love her completely. I can’t see Rhaenyra being that person with the way she’s disregarded Alicent’s worries and feelings.

I'm going to be totally honest and I say this with love... a lot of it becomes easily justifiable for me when i acknowledge that Rhaenyra is just a bit dense. like shes always been sheltered and naive, to the point of genuine stupidity sometimes. she isnt inherently so but her father stomped all over her developing any kind of critical mind early on and she did nothing to overcome that mistake. she became far too comfortable with Viserys waving his crown and magic-ing her problems away and its just a fact shes never managed to see things from alicents perspective... but that doesnt mean alicent isnt as equally important to her as she is to alicent. please bear with me because i promise i will explain this fully.

but first of all, to answer your question 'does rhaenyra not realise how ruthless daemon is?' I mean, giving her the benefit of the doubt ...maybe not? shes pretty much always always seen the best side of daemon. with viserys. with her. with their children. what does she know of daemons genuine ruthlessness? we cant say for sure. once again, giving her the full benefit of the doubt, we dont even know if rhaenyras aware that daemon murdered rhea. like daemons not exactly gonna bring it up and who else would dare suggest that to her of all people? sure shes seen him fight at tourneys she knows hes capable of killing but thats a controlled enviroment where its expected. and she clearly feels safe enough with him personally otherwise she wouldnt have laughed in his face after her grabbed her neck.

its going to be very interesting to see what they do with B&C for this reason. because if rhaenyra isnt involved, at least in the Details... will she be shocked by what daemon is capable of? depends on what version of rhaenyra we get post-luke i suppose. but i dont know if i believe they're likely to have her go That dark so quickly that she'd agree to B&C. (sorry. tangent.)

imo you have to try and see her perspective - rhaenyra is deeply Confused. she thought for many years alicent just suddenly Hated her on the basis of her /loose morals/, like purely hated her, the girl she loved is Gone overnight right when they'd begun to reconcile, and she couldnt really understand why. she just does not understand alicents perspective and she cant begin to fathom alicents situation. and in a way, how could she? shes never faced similar limitations theres an argument to be made she wouldnt be able to even conceptualise it without alicent taking her by the hand and walking her through it. even when they were friends i doubt rhaenyra thought about the privileges she held over alicent (after all, she was a child, it was just what she knew and as far as she could see alicent got to do everything she did so there was no visual imbalance). from rhaenyras point of view, all those years alicent was being unnecessarily antagonistic over something that didnt effect her. this girl she loved and in rhaenyras eyes she is betraying her again and again and again. and rhaenyra thought all that because she couldnt see the bigger picture. how could she begin to understand 'alicent fears what my reign could mean for her children' when viserys actively disencouraged her political interest - her opinion on that point would likely only be 'well obviously i would make sure nothing happened to them', not understanding that That isnt the reassurance she thinks it is.

so yeah. rhaenyra truly doesnt understand what went on or whats going on. but alicent Does (and this imbalance is perfectly demonstrated by the dialogue in the knife scene because, lets be honest, alicent pins down the situation and how rhaenyra fits into it kind of perfectly... whereas rhaenyra incorrectly attributes alicents rage to 'righteousness', not fear.). and personally i think thats why it seems unbalanced or one sided, especially in episode 8. alicent could afford to be genuine, rhaenyra isnt hard to read, whereas rhaenyra still had her guard up because she was just so fucking confused lmao. she briefly saw the gentle, beautiful, kind girl she was in love with in alicents treatment of a dying viserys at the dinner table - and upon realising alicent actually Does still have that side to her rhaenyra doesnt know what to do except subtlety apologise for perhaps not truly Seeing alicent and for accusing her of trying to harm viserys. she thought the alicent she knew was long dead until that moment - the girl has got emotional whiplash. so its not that rhaenyra loves alicent less. her reactions in episode 10 make it very clear there is still A Lot going on there for her (and we know emma d'arcy's pov on it was that rhaenyra genuinely considers conceding the throne with the hope of alicent 'taking her back'). shes just very very Very muddled about whether the current version of alicent is Still the person she loves...

and i think maybe 'love' is the wrong word for what they have when theres so much piled on top but its definitely a devotion. its this constant need to reconcile and be close that they just cant shake because a part of them will always desire the other.

tl;dr rhaenyra is just... kinda dumb god bless. and their imbalance is in their ability to understand the situation, not in the amount of love thats held.

(besides they were never exactly going to be a healthy equal deserving love thats not the point of them imo. they are a missed opportunity. a greek tragedy. starcrossed lovers. etc)

A long-ass testimonial as a player of Honkai: Star Rail. please read if you have the time. I wish all honkai content creators would bear to understand this

goin through exhaustion rn but thats just normal and not something id complain about. Anyways when this game released in summer 2023, I was just as hyped as everybody else. I had started playing since the last closed beta where I had gotten bailu and mained qingque cuz she felt so real for being lazy on the job plus i LOVED playing hard and winning big.

I had a fun time later when the game ACTUALLY did release though I had to say goodbye to my bailu who I replaced with Clara and mained Seele who I knew from playing Honkai Impact for quite a while. I felt like i fit in with every other HI3/HSR player, running high spd seele with bronya and taking my silver wolf to every Simulated Universe fight, and laughing about getting rolled by the blue gorilla that hates when people use skills. I laughed at the launch memes everyone else was laughing at and usually was the first person to beat new bosses fights and stories when they came out.

I've realized that just because you think you fit in with people, doesn't mean they'll act like you do fit. They watch you trip, and struggle, and when the thing you like starts slinging venom at you, they let you fall. They laugh when you get hurt and protect what hurt you. Now when I started this game, as a black guy I was aware dumb, racist things were gonna pop up, as we know with genshin impact with the whole ass glass bottle floating around calling desert explorers/fighters "sand-lickers", and Honkai Impact's one black character being one who hates her dark skin and bleaches it consistently with makeup. She's also the only character to never get special outfit effects. Naturally, I did not bat an eye at the dark skin lightning guy having the SHACKLE BREAKER and SWIFT HARVEST SKILLS.

as we may know im a lore guy who thinks a lot. there is no "character reference" or wordplay that holds up here. This is dumb associations made to dark skinned individuals for doing slave work(harvesting.) and being held in chains(shackle). Anyways somehow even though this eluded me, I found it odd that the one dark skinned character in the roster was the bad one. People would make all kinds of excuses but never show anything concrete. Arlan himself is lacking the skill point mechanic which literally bars him from an entire simulated universe path. see my notes on him here . Point is this got worse as time went on, to a point where this fan that was still crazy hyped after the Xianzhou arc hype was watching every promotional video for the next region. Penacony, and got hit with the revelation that their next region was going to be based on the Jazz Age. Jazz is known throughout the world as one of the most widely celebrated creations of black people for the rest of the world, and the soul of Jazz, Funk, Pop, and many other types of music rest in black history, black stories, and black emotions. I'd rather not revisit the complete amalgation of this soul that is that dumb fucking region with the slave master and the incel-heaven slur slinger invading the quantum meta, but I should still add that the story is an incredibly half-assed take at introducing evil concepts like slavery and trying to add nuance to them. I played through so many routes where there was some implication of slavery benefitting a future society, and there was this one awful point i had to check out at where the player uses CLOCKWORK TO FIX THE MIND OF A DISCONTENT FREED SLAVE SO THEY SEEK THEIR MASTER AGAIN. There is no "makes sense in context" or "theres lore behind this" because that should be taken at face value. Their disgusting apparition of the Jazz Age should not be justified and glorified the way it is today. I believe in protecting the history of those who paved the way for me and I also would like to believe that I shouldn't have to fight to not deal with mockery within games or shows I enjoy. This whole experience I've had has tainted this game for me. I was listening through my fighting game playlist earlier and WHITE NIGHT came on. The first time I had heard it I thought it was amazing and wanted to make a cover of it and enter the 2024 fan art contest. But when I heard it for the most recent time, I wanted to vomit. This 'fun party' song was empty and felt like it was slinging lies of joy and entropy in my face. I couldn't celebrate the media that glorified excusing my people from society. And I really don't get WHY everyone else does. As somebody whose played a lot of mainstream games I've seen a crowd that acts woke to social issues and seemed to stand up in the face of injustice. I don't KNOW any internet culture so i thought activist = good person. recently ive seen and interacted with a lot of "activists" that were willing to watch this billion dollar company perpetuate racism, stereotypes and appropriation. This is usually because the company had given them a "complex" png with "emotions" that was "coded" to be made for them. and their character's emotions outrank real people's emotions in their interactions. these activists were more likely to listen to the billion dollar company's machinations of a white girl fairy princess or whatever their latest obsession was, than real people.

its been tiring and its been sickening. excuse me for being too real for a second but I AM SICK AND TIRED OF MENTALLY ILL WHITE PEOPLE ONLINE TELLING ME RACISM IS A CHARACTER TRAIT OR SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE RIGHT, OR SOMETHING THAT SPICES UP A NARRATIVE. SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. what if we had characters that were abusers, huh? or pedophiles? and what if those characters never had to deal with consequences of their actions? and what if everybody was worshipping the writing team making these hero abusers, and hero pedophiles? would it suddenly make sense then?

can people stop hyping this awful shit up? Pick up a different game or something. stain their brand. Have an audience for your star rail content? can you draw like trees or something,..... instead? this is not a good game and it does not do good things. ok so i havent actually seen all of his route cause the game's only available in japanese and the streamer i watched play the game switched to a different guy like halfway through the game n i seriously doubt anyone else is gonna submit him i just need someone else to know about this so! ryouta and the player character (doesnt have a canon name but is given the nickname of marii by the two girl friends) were friends in kindergarten with ryouta having a very blatant crush on her n wished on a pinwheel for them to get married when theyre older he then moves to england as soon as he gets old and he n marii dont interact at all until nine years later when he comes back for high school and is still very blatantly down bad for a girl he last talked to when they were six but has spent the last nine years still thinking about (theres something in the game you can unlock called adv events where you get the love interests pov on moments in their lives and one of ryouta's reveals that even though he couldve he never sent marii any letters but very much did spend all those years thinking about her) n a lot of his interactions with marii are weird n circle back to him being obsessed with them being friends as kids and like a first it just kind of seems like oh he hasnt gotten over his puppy love yet lol but it is kind of like acknowledged that this is a weird thing in game as if marii gets his gift in the christmas exchange ryouta will say something about it being fate n marii pointedly ignores that n is like wow what a coincidence that we got eachother's gifts (not in an oblivious heroine way btw ryouta's straight up is like oh ok ur ignoring what i said) n he treats her like shes naive n completely innocent which like marii is cause shes a mostly blank slate otome heroine but its still noteworthy as being weird due to his aforementioned memorialization of them being friends in kindergarten n that none of the other love interests really treat marii that way or really make note of those being notable traits of hers that often while its something ryouta does frequently anyway so the moment that made my thoughts on ryouta switch from "lol hes kind of weird" to "i want to study him like a bug" is that His Bedroom Is The Exact Same As It Was When He Was A Six Year Old Child In Kindergarten And Hes Keeping It That Way On Purpose like genuinely thats immediately read to me as horror movie shit imagine reuniting with a childhood friend of urs who keeps bringing up stuff you did as kids (that you dont really remember cause you were like six n are now in high school) n making comments about how naive and easy to read you are n gets weirdly jealous about other guys being buddy buddy with you and then like a year or so after hes moved back n you've becomed friends again he invites you to hang out at his house so you go over and then His Room Looks Like It Belongs To A Six Year Old and hes telling you about how his room hasnt been altered (beyond cleaning) at all since he left n since hes come back hes chosen to keep it exactly the same n hes telling you this like its a reasonable thing literally what the fuck also while ryouta is the posterboy childhood friend love interest of this game theres another love interest who was both ryouta n marii's childhood friend and you'll never believe this he treats her like a normal person and is just a normal guy who barely remembers being friends in kindergarten and him n marii only learn that theyre childhood friends cause of ryouta being mildly exasperated that neither of them really remembers them being a trio when they were six theres definitely like worse love interests i could submit from this series (like the teachers n one of the three secret love interests in the second game whos route is just straight up him emotionally abusing the heroine) but im submitting ryouta cause his reasons for sucking as a romantic partner are bizarre n live rent free in my mind

13: Oh, my goodness. Listen. I have read and fallen in love with more fics than I can shake a stick at. I've been reading for a very long time, but I will give you as best an answer as I can. Please be aware that some of these fics are NSFW, and some of them I don't know if they are still up, it's been so long since I looked for them. edit: I limited it to ten, because I could feel myself spiraling down memory lane.

If you aren't familiar with @tmnt-tychou When Leo Met Mona, you should start there, since I'm gonna assume since you're asking me you are in the TMNT fandom. - I love her work and the way she writes romances with the turtles, and I know she's impacted my writing because I have a whole fic that has one of her characters in it.

I have really enjoyed @afreakingdork 's work, TMNT fandom as well - they're one of those writers that twists things in interesting ways and withholds information, and I love how I'm always kept on my toes while reading.

Oh, Son of A- by StrivingArtist on AO3, Hobbit fandom (Fili/reader) - I love this story simply because the author took a long break in the middle, and then came back and finished it. It's completed, and the story is funny as all get out. Took that 'modern girl falls into middle earth trope' and knocked it out of the ballpark. I still cackle over it.

Eidolon by Llanval on AO3, Marvel fandom- unfinished, but poetic, the imagery and storytelling is startlingly haunting. I would go out on a limb and say the author was a fan of E.T. Hoffman.

Alabanza by brandyllyn on A03, star wars (Poe/reader) - it's just a romance that really stuck with me, and I thought it had a really interesting take on how Poe actually meets reader.

Lost Valor; Forgotten Stars by rinskiroo on AO3, star wars (Poe/ofc) - this is a fic that I still don't understand fully to this day, but I know it was drawing on lore from multiple points in star wars history. I would read it again, probably will this weekend. Really highlights the difference between the resistance and the rebellion.

Earning my Wings by warqueenfuriosa on AO3, star wars (poe/reader) - I really connected with this reader, and gosh darn this fic is just funny. and believable.

anything shootybangbang on AO3 writes. They were someone I found while deep into red dead, because we both explored the same imagery on the duality of man and beast. The way they write poetry into their stories is just mesmerizing.

We Were Only Ever Stardust by PardonMyManners on AO3, rogue one fandom - oh this one made me cry. I was really into how the RO fandom took star crossed lovers and found family and just drove a knife into everyone's heart with it

Theres a whole rogue one series by angel_deux on A03 that starts with a fic called Hard to be Soft. I found it 6 days after the movie released and read the whole thing whenever I could. Another one I'll have to reread soon.

19: Well, reading fanfic is how I became a fanfic writer, and definitely played a part in how I’ve gotten better at writing. To be very blunt, what I consumed usually found its way into my own writing. There were definitely fics that I read that made me realize what I did and did not like, and there were just as many ideas that captured my imagination as those I shunned. There were writers whose style I admired, who twisted words and withheld information in a way that caught my interest. There were characterizations I had no care for, for sure, and moments where I didn’t fully understand what the writer was trying to get across to their audience, but on a whole I always felt there was something to learn from whatever I had decided to read, and my writing responded like a puzzle picked from many different people over many different years.

I feel like this answer is maybe a bit meandering and not very precise, but please be aware I’ve been reading fanfic for almost two whole decades, across fandoms and platforms, and so I don’t remember things very vividly, but my writing is a timeline of who I was at the time.

Sometimes I'm guilty of the thing I'm gonna 'complain' because I love to see my faves interacting on social media, I know it's not everything but I'm just a noisy girl and I wanna see. However it's been really annoying in the fandom how people are acting like a comment or like is an "approval" and the lack of it is "ignoring" or something bad.

Not being specific about just a post or person but in general it takes away from what really matters. Like even since D's directing posts people would do a checklist of likes and comments (and then we saw how people were supporting her even if they never interacted on insta) or lately treating likes to other actors as "indirects" or "fights" when we could just be enjoying their posts or what they're sharing.

I have been here since late 2020 and I don't know in what world some people were because since at least 2021/early 2022 we saw a big shift on everyone as the fandom grew and they changed their ways to interact in public and with the fans but besides early seasons where everyone was hanging out and interacting (as always is in the beginning lol) we only had the lives, takeovers and some random little "treats" for years.

Sorry for ranting here and I know everyone can feel how they want to but I saw so much little tales on how "it used to be" and a lot of poison that gets everyone spiriling and looking for stuff in every detail and I wish they were looking forward to Spampi episode to see her work and not so get anyone's else reaction to it.

Yeah I totally get that...honestly I see both sides of it and have been on both sides at different times. Like theres times when I feel one way and will miss seeing Danielle and Stefania interacting on social media and doing all the lives they used to and getting the BTS and all that but I also am aware that Covid made most of that happen and it gave us a false sense that it was going to continue being like that and it just so happened to be around the time that Marina was getting popular so the timing was just right for everything but even still of course people want to see the actresses of their favorite ships interacting. We know they're close, we know they spend time together on set and hang out and all of those things but it's different than actually getting to see it and this is not me trying to sound entitled, it's just part of the fun in being in fandom.

But then I also get the side of people putting way too much into it and thinking it means all these different things and to go as far as making checklists like you said and comparing who said what and who didn't do this for this person is just crazy. Like obviously there's things that are going to happen that are going to make people wonder stuff but at the end of the day we truly don't know these people or how they really interact with each other because they are always in control of how they interact in public and what they choose to share on social media with us. It's a shame that a lot of it ends up being about the drama of it all and what someone did for this person and not that person as opposed to actually to just enjoying the content that is actually being shared.

It's just the unfortunate part of a fandom I suppose because it happens in pretty much all of them. Instead of just getting to enjoy the ride and soaking in what does get shared with us there's a ton of speculation and drama especially once boundaries are crossed and people have to start pulling away because of it and then things start to shift.

welps, since i got a little skrunkling in form of ararycan, lets talk about him. i hope it'll be a short one. (spoiler: no)

also to those who bumped onto my post in their or someone else's dash somehow: english is not my first language. so be ready for numerous "memories" and "forget" cuz my vocabulary is thin just like that. and some other weirdness of course.

first of all, i hate the dottore clone theory with every single cell in my body, and i want you to know that if you like it i dont care, so neither should you care about me hating it. im only speaking opinion here.

and also this is rather my headcanon just not to stay alongside with the mystery while theres a dottore theory around. i honestly dont believe in dottore theory, but i still cant prove it wrong properly due to lack of info, and that annoys me. but this headcanon doesnt attempt to debunk the theory somehow, these are just two completely different things not worth comparing.

but rlly, did anyone on that planet at least once look at ararycan's leaves more than once? cuz it feels like no one knows what is the form of the pattern. the theory followers say these are circles, on my plush these are rounded diamons. wtf dear fellow folks.

the headcanon is trying to explain ararycan's memory loss, as there is no information about this in the game. traveler and paimon just decide that "welp, aranara are forgetful sometimes" though its not really true, but its really odd of them to leave us on this cliffhanger. i once said that aranara never forget stuff unless they meet some certain condition. i didnt explain that well last time so lemme speak a word (although its gonna be long i fear, so once again, the orange text is not necessary)

in the beginning we were given with the idea that aranara dont forget anything, or at least dont forget anything as easily as we do. this was really the very first fact i learned about them since i found messily written notes very soon after i began my first walkthrough of aranyaka (funfact: in russian localization its not clear who is the author of these if you only see the first set of it, and i definitely remember that i was not able to read the next page at a place, so i bet i found it even before meeting arama in the very first time. i also found it in the second time only after completing the entire questline so imagine my face at that moment), and author of the notes says that he doesnt forget things easily, but still decides to make records because its fun to do. basically saying that these lads dont ever need to record things up cuz they remember it all by themselves.

then, during the part where we help guys in mawtiyima forest, we were told about the inscriptions on the walls. aragaru says that these are made only for humans, because aranara will not forget, while people have all the possibility to. all the other inscriptions on walls, if we keep the spoken idea in mind, are clearly made for humans as well. the only weirdness in this part is inscriptions in old vanarana, cuz the only one who needs these during the quest is arama, and its not really clear who these were written to in the first place. but we still cant say these were definitely written for aranara, or maybe i need to research more.

the events of agnihatora sutra and vimana agama are the ones that made people think that aranara are forgetful. the second one is the mystery we are trying to solve in this article, but the first one told you everything you need, but its absolutely understandable if you didnt get it in the first time (neither did i if u wonder). in agnihatora sutra the three are aware that the thing theyre going to commit is gonna make them forget everything, so they were hinting it for us carefully, yet not saying directly that they will forget us. in the very end of this questline they tell us about the sacrifice they're going to commit, and that sacrifice is actually their memories, even though its not shown on screen, unlike the sacrifice of arana's memories to get the bija. that is why we were later told that these guys dont emember us while everyone else do.

also there's the fact araja troubles to remember the events of the past, but this dude actually grew into a tree, and just like i said in the cinnamon arama article, that might be the reason of his memory loss. araja also didnt forget everything that he had expirienced before he became a tree, as sometimes he still recalls to some things as his own memories.

after all, aranara gain actual power with memories and it would be weird if you'd randomly forget stuff and lose yo power just like that. they cherish memories more than anything, either these are good or bad, and the idea of forgetting is terrifying to them (the most memorable to me was the moment when arama complained about alcohol cuz it makes people forget stuff. paimon said that sometimes there are things people want to forget, but arama was still negative about that). well, actually there is a thing they cherish more. this thing is called "friendship", and the idea is that even if you forget something, there will be friends who'll remind you, so thats why they are more dear to aranara, even more than the memories. this is as well the idea of "the forest will remember" thing, cuz aranara are friends to all the plants, animals, some humans and each other, so theres just no possibility for the entire forest (all of these things) to forget something. but that still doesnt remove the importance of memories cuz these are power and these are memories, it'll take a lot of time to gain them back, so losing them is only worth when its absolutely necessary. also remember that stories and memories are not the same, so just summarizing things up to someone wont work.

and that concludes my orange explaination, now back to vimana agama mystery!!!!

so my take is that ararycan mustve sacrificed his memories for something. if we'll try to recreate the chronological order of the events of the past, we'll see that aralohita, who possibly was some sort of a buddy to ararycan, disappears after ararycan lost his memories. or if he lost part of them, its possible that aralohita disappeared prior to that. both versions explain why ararycan still remembers the solution to aralohita's riddles.

ararycan once says that he was the one who brought the ruin golem part into the secret cave, but for now he doesnt seem to be as strong, he rather acts like a very brave weakling. as we know, aranara gain power with memories, so no wonder ararycan is a weakling now, not remembering everything. but still, his awareness about some things looking familiar makes me think that he might have lost part of his memories, but how come?

we know that ararycan most likely was the third one alongside royinjan and amadhiah in the past, so all the vamadhas, including the one that was sealing the secret base, most likely were set after the childhood of the two, which means that might happened not too long ago. that might line up with a fact that pir kavikavus accident happened around the same time, because vamadhas were obviously set for reason. i recall ararycan saying that vamadhas are set when aranara dont want nara to enter some certain places, but says that he doesnt know who set these. so i think that actually could be ararycan, but since he lost his memories, no wonder he doesnt remember about it. and so uh, setting these could be resulted in memory loss as it might take some power. he probably did know that amiti device might be used for no good by some foes, so vamadhas are only set in places that either have amiti device fragments in them or places related to it somehow (and nowhere else, by the way, so vamadha is for sure some kind of ararakalari that both ararycan and aralohita used to wield). we can see the direct memory loss from using ararakalari in case of arama, when the one hit one of ruin guards really hard and returned back to goofy. we dont know how the memories amount needed to do some action is measured, but if we connect the dots, it all seems possible.

the only question left is why the heck did ararycan move the detail into the cave and the answer is i dont know. it was def moved before the cave was sealed since roy (seemingly) confirms this place not changing at all since he was a kid, and probably even before the kids found this cave because otherwise someone said something like "dude, i recall this place empty, but then somehow this huge detail appeared here, no clue how tho i dont remember". but why did ararycan move it there is forever a mystery it seems, unless aralohita is confirmed to be his accompany most of the time and prolly found alive ofc. aralohita might say something about it in that case, unless he forgot everything as well. but its all just my silly wishes.

also arama, while summarizing the places we shall visit, says that ararycan may know something about the sus person we were looking for. ararycan later confirms he used to help kids in vimara village cuz arana asked him, but thats all he says, none of details were thrown after that. his wording that marana avatar is capable of the trouble feels weird, but marana avatar to aranara is many things, not only the actual marana avatar, so he could be calling fatui like that. i now think that ararycan could possibly help us with finding out who the sus person is but for whatever reason it was cut down by his own troubling.

and i know that at this moment it feels like im just coping but idc. once again, my speculations have nothing to do with the dottore clone theory, its just a thing im rather comfortable with. fact of the day: dottore is my least favorite character in the entire genshin impact (among some that are somehow major) and i'll be quite disappointed if my precious ararycan turns out to be his clone or creation or whatever. i wont argue with it, i'll only throw, tear and murder.

and that concludes my tractate. it took me the whole day to put in words and i feel empty rn, especially since i dont know many words, and if you ever ask me why am i speaking english if i could just use my first language - none of your business. if u ask me why i made this tractate - none of your business. till the next time.

Last we left off, my sister and I were about to get the final waymarker! ...Or so we thought, but Maxwell seems to be blocking the way...

On the GHS, Riddeaux tells Spirius HQ to 'get those Exodus scum on the line.' Sis: "And then Alvin's phone rings."

After learning about the hostage situation on the ship, Jude supposedly texts Gaius to bring him up to speed, assuming Gaius didn't accidentally delete the message. Me: "'Oops, hope that wasn't important.'"

I totally forgot that theres a timed part of the rescue mission, no idea what the consequence of failing is but we did get pretty close

In the end, my sister chose to hold onto fractured Milla as long as possible. Hoesntly, who wouldn't? It does give me hope about her accidentally getting the bad ending later, the same way I did >:)

I was arguing with my sister, who has insisted multiple times that she's gonna pay off the whole 20 million gald someday, to maybe give the bank more than 10,000 at a time so theyll stop nagging us for having over 200,000. Her: "But I need this money to upgrade our equipment! I just think it's wise to be prudent." Me: "Those are the same thing!"

The game gives you notifications when characters outside of the party learn skills, like Gaius for example. Me: "I hope the skill he learned is how to charge his phone."

Alvin will NOT stop telling Jude his terrible dad joke ("Job well done" "Eh, I prefer medium rare"). He needs new comedy material so badly.

Anyway this new joke somehow got combined with our old inside joke of every empty tunnel being an 'Alvin' for betraying our hopes and long story short I was asked to draw this nonsense:

We made it to the end of Gaius's second chapter (why did they put 2 hard boss fights in that one smh) where Gaius tells Tanner about the deaths of his 4 subordinates, who he only realized were actually his friends 10 minutes ago, then leaves, saying "This is the end of my story." Sis: "He's become self-aware, he knows his chapter is ending!!"

The last portion of debt has been paid, and Bisley wants to speak with us at Spirius. I'm reaaaaally hoping we get to Victor next time :)

man i really thought the dynamic of the three leads in oasis would be somewhat similar to the three leads in chicago typewriter or my country. well at least that's what the first few eps seemed to be going for

but it became just one of those many annoying kdrama love triangles bcs of the 2nd lead. idek where the plot is going atp

i still like the drama tho. cuz im a sucker for angst no matter how frustrating it gets. and i dont rlly mind where the plot goes. i just wish the three leads maintained their unbreakable bond no matter how complicated their circumstances turn out

like with the 2nd male leads in chicago typewriter and my country, as frustrating as it may be, i still understood why they had to make the choices they made. i wouldnt defend them but i get them. i loooove the 2nd lead in chicago typewriter no matter what and the three leads are still among my top fav kdrama trios. i hated the 2nd lead in my country but i get why he had to turn to the bad side. like theres an actual depth in his characterization

but with cheolwoong its rlly just immaturity, jealousy, and insecurity.

hes still the same highschool boy who would come home crying bcs doohak ranked 1st on top of the whole class. the same boy who was competing "fair and square" to win the heart of their highschool crush. the same boy who would make other ppl do the dirty work for him cuz hes a pretentious coward

the way he is so ready to throw away his lifelong brotherhood with doohak for his highschool crush who he knew for a few yrs and who never even led him on to make him think he has any chance with her

the doohak who he called his hyung his entire life. the doohak who did everything he told him to until highschool. the doohak who would fight his fights. the doohak who /involuntarily/ went to prison for a crime HE COMMITTED just bcs he begged him to tho he knew it would ruin doohaks life. like id be so ashamed to even show up in front of him. if he asks for something, id do it right away without considering it as a payment for my debt cuz nothing could make up for what doohak had to go through bcs of me

not to mention doohak also singlehandedly saved him (again... for the nth time) against that group of college students without any help from anyone

he couldnt even make up his mind if he wishes to save or betray doohak like how he remained neutral with the student activists vs gov thing in his college days. like if ure gonna be the bad guy, just be the bad guy and let me hate u entirely

like u can tell he still cares for doohak (reason why i thought theyd have this unbreakable brotherhood even when they act like enemies in front of eo but theyd come running to save eo when needed to cuz they know deep down they love eo like the male leads in the 2 dramas i mentioned above) but i guess he doesnt care for him enough to let him be happy after all those years of suffering (which he caused)

doohaks friendship with his gang members is even more precious than theirs. like i would trust any of the gang members with doohaks life but not cheolwoong

also the lack of self awareness??? he always brings up doohaks flaws when hes actually way worse

anyway i hope the writers dont give him redemption arc just for the sake of giving everyone a good ending. i want him miserable and i want to hate him until the end. when he finds out the truth abt his birth, i want him IN SEVERE PAIN. i want him to be so ashamed to even go near doohak. on top of that, i want jungshin cutting him off her life for good and giving him the same disgusted face she gave doohak when she found out hes part of a gang. I WANT HIM SUFFERING

and give doohak and jungshin their happy ending ffs! they literally just want a peaceful life together without all these makjang drama. theyve been through soooo much since they were young and until now. enough is enough

(i just wrote over my one from 2020 bc i was too lazy to make an og format LOL)

yeah!! i feel like I made good progress in regards to the goals i made last year (better composition, stronger colors, etc. etc.)... the pieces i made this year are definitely more busier-looking than my 2021 and 2020 summaries. howeverrr theres a drop in quality from August to October tho bc I went on a trip to the Philippines with my mom and only had my ipad lol 😭 I’m not too good with procreate yet

hmm but yuh im p satisfied with the stuff I’ve made. i’m still trying to figure out my rendering style but I like where it’s going so far! esp with my november pieces (ty so much for the 1k on that souyo art btw i was so giddy drawing it and was really excited to post it 🥺so real)...

for goals, i’d like to work more on drawing complex bgs that are more urban/interior, better framing and dynamic perspective, varied color palettes, and more expressive character movement! that last one was one of my goals from last year too and while i think i did improve, it still has this stiffness i gotta hammer out. gotta keep on that anatomy study grinddd, its the only way

also i graduated from hs this year and im getting ready for spring semester college in a month 🥺 im majoring in design and im so excited to take actual art classes for the first time!! the workfield im trying to get into isn’t really related to illustration at all but im hyped to apply the stuff i learn in those classes into my fanart art hobby LOL.... I GOT MY PRIORITIES STRAIGHT FOR REALLLL ✊✊

but yeah besides all that i effed up a lot this year and did a lot of stuff im ashamed of but im still gonna try and be better. i was so bitter about everything in my personal life and i just can’t be like that anymore. i write this stuff for me to reflect and look back on but tysm if you read it too 🥺 this blog has been such a great outlet for me to let it go and im so thankful to have people look at the stuff ive made... im fully aware i dont know anyone here personally and im just making art content but that small connection of liking the same things means so much to me already. any like, any tag, any thought... just!!! thank u!! fuck it we ball 2023!!

I feel I should go with my two Among Us wips for this one, huh? warning for death n violence in the first one, oops. Im gonna stick this under a read more, it got long.

So my first is an animation, that haunts me as as all my animations do, set as all good animations should be, to ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme (a man after midnight)

its so dark.

Theres lowkey a lot of people dying and gore, oh my god, but its mostly off screen, so hey! this is what is affectionately known as my angst Au, and I have currently story boarded about 24 seconds, when its meant to run over the entire length of the song.

hhh.

Its uh, what I would call the finale of that au? some context, there's two impostors, both with very different reasons for being there, and both with very different reasons for even being imposters. Those two are Pink and Cyan.

Pink, my bastard child, is probably considered the true imposter, but in their defence, they didn't want to be there. Their species, a line of asexually reproducing autonomic plants prone to adaptable mutation, just so happened to have a seed whistling through the vaccum just so happened to pierce the glove of the poor og pink on a spacewalk. in the wake of the 'my glove just got depressurized in vacuum' the seed was missed, and pink (bastard) ate pink (poor bastard) from the inside out, with a unique ability to preserve a certain amount of the og meat's memories, to go along with the inherited memory passed along their family lines.

so pink is pink now, and obviously better than their predecessor bc that guy died and they wont, except theyre on a ship tracking towards a hyperjump, which is really, really bad new for a species that cant survive hyperjumps. also purple, the xenobiologist with a degree in psychology, whom had slowly been befriending them, just straight up asked them if they were an imposter, and they may have panicked and eaten their face, so there's that.

And that kinda kicks off everything.

And then there's Cyan. Cyan is the security officer, and his job is to protect the crew. Cyan is a very decorated, very senior security officer, who should have probably gotten trauma leave, but this is MIRA, because he just came from polus where he was one of only two survivors of a devastating alien viral attack, which cumulated in him having to shoot his not-his-friends-anymore.

Basically, Cyan's crew just got 'The Thing'd, and Cyan....

..well Cyan's been feeling sick lately. Cyan's been bleeding black, lately. Cyan's just came to awareness over the still gurgling body of his junior officer with Cyan's knife in Limes gut, and he's still not sure if he was the one in control, the one who did that or not.

So Cyan's having a fun time.

and thats what ultimately leads into the finale. Of their crew of twelve and one civilian occupant, Lime, Purple, White and Brown are dead, Pink has been revealed to not be pink, Green, Black, Red and Yellow are currently MIA, and Cyan just got ejected by the monster on board. The only crew that Blue, the captain, has been able to find is her second officer, Orange and his very scared child, on her way to the emergency lifepod's after she made a call to scramble the ship, the last broadcast before the internal systems went down. Because the skeld is slowly getting dragged into Polus's gravity, and Blue is very, very scared for her crew.

The Crew in turn, are scattered around the ship, some injured, some fighting to reboot systems to make sure the lifepods can even detach (MIRA incompetency at work again), one no-longer-crew desperately trying to get the engines going so they can commandeer the ship, and one with a gun in hand hunting down the sunovabitch that killed her friends. Red has never handled a gun before, but shes maybe not exactly thinking straight right now.

Because here's the thing. Ghosts are very, very real in my au, and there is a certain lime ghost who does know how, and they've just learned they can affect the physical world still, and whats a little possession with lives on the line?

And here's the last thing. Cyan, poor ejected Cyan floating in the vacuum, the infected imposter fighting against himself to stick to his job to protect and save the crew..

Well, Cyan hasn't had the good manners to die just yet. And Cyan is pissed at Pink.

And that's what kicks off the angst au finale animation :D

Annnnnd then a complete tone change, with a small excerpt from the other, much more comedy Among Us au, aka Define Imposter, aka Lime joins the Idjit Crew (affectionate) aka that Time I Accidentally Wrote a Hallmark Movie in Space, whose current reviews are "I would kill for them and I'm stealing them' from Brass, and 'I hate that I enjoyed it and it was Amogus,' from an anonymous irl, which I feel is pretty good for feedback:

"Captain," Lime stressed, "surely this ship can't be above board - wasn't this particular line of freighters recalled over ten years ago?"

Brown laughed sheepishly, pausing in the hallway, "I mean, technically yes, but ours is pretty refurbished and she’s had some extensive overhaul done to her, so they gave us a pass." 

The lines 'the outer rim’s are short on functioning deep-vacuum capable ships so they run them well past their use-by' and 'no scrapyard mechanic even wants to approach the nest Yellow has going on at the back of the ship' were left unsaid.

"Besides!" Brown chuckled. "She’s a good ship, this old girl. I've been flying her for over the decade, and she's nothing if not reliable." She banged on the wall for emphasis.

Unfortunately that particular poor panel, unable to take anymore in its decades of abuse came loose at browns savagery, falling from the wall with a great clatter, and revealing the Skeld’s innards and some horrifying little charm probably left by Purple, bouncing once then falling flat with a final death rattle.

Both Lime and Brown stared at it, silently, before the captain coughed abruptly into the offending fist. 

"I'm going to go get an engineer to fix that. Good talk, Comm's Officer Lime." Brown nodded stiffly, clapped lime on the shoulder, and broke into a brisk jog down the corridor and around the corner.

Lime felt that small shred of reassurance Brown had just allowed him slip away just as mournfully fast.
