Happy 5th Anniversary to FE3H, a Game That Changed My Life

It is no exaggeration to say this game changed my life.

In 2019, pre-release, I wrote headcanons during the time about characters, friendships, romances, scenarios, AU, etc. I just decided one day to give it a go. I never imagined doing it but yeah! There were a few others who were writing headcanon lists too, and it was fun going back and forth with them. I got popular enough that people made suggestions if I could write headcanons about 'x, y, z'. It was an extremely fun time! I continued with the headcanons until late 2020.

(Alas headcanons and people suggesting ideas is a dead art unfortunately.)

I also wrote Tumblr drabbles about all manner of scenarios! The game made me rediscover my love for writing. I always enjoyed writing, but I lost that love--it was more of 'I like doing this, but I wish I could love it again'. It also made me get back into writing fanfiction. For years I thought I would not go back to those days, but I came back in full force (even 5 years on)

I wrote my very first gift fic to a headcanoner like me (it became the literal first 'Byleth Eisner & Jeralt Eisner' fic on AO3)! I literally wrote the very first 'Edelgard von Hresvelg/Dorothea Arnault' (Edelthea) fic ever on AO3!

From release date I kept writing fics. I wrote a multi-chapter fics. I wrote a smut, and I never thought I would: but funnily enough through reading FE3H AO3 smut it showed me that it can be an amazing way to flesh characters. And shameless smut is great as well!

I was never actively involved in fandom like this. I wrote fics in the past but left it at that. But I interacted with people and enjoyed it!

The very first discord I joined was based on FE3H. I didn't even know what a discord was until someone I went back and forth with invited and told me about. I never thought I would join something like that, but I did.

During 2019-2020 I received fanart for my drabbles, based on headcanons, and on fics. I had some comments say I single-handedly got them into Edelgard/Claude (Edelclaude) through my multi-chapter fic 'The Eagle and Deer Walk Parallel Paths'.

2020 I ran the very first Edelthea Week! I never imagined I would ever run a fandom event, and that I would also create a Twitter for it! I tried to run an EdeltheaNSFW Week but it failed twice, but that was a fantastic lesson: not all weeks are destined to succeed!

I participated in fan weeks, such as 'FE3H LGBT Week', 'Edelclaude Week 2020' & 'FE3H Polyship Week'. I tried out a big bang but had to step down, but I tried it!

Few months later I was invited to be a social media mod for the Edelthea Fanzine 'To a Brighter Dawn'. I said yes. I also became a writer contributor. I never imagined joining a fanzine ever, as a contributor and especially as a mod.

Not much happened fandom wise in 2021 due to stuff. I lose the will to write (in everything). BUT I put my hand up for the 'Choose to Prevail: An Adrestian Trio Fanzine' towards the end of the year and got in!

2022 and 'Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes' is announced. Eventually I got back into a active fandom role, having overcome 2021. I made dear friends through our love of FE3H that year. I ran Edelthea Week again! I participated in fan weeks again! I started writing two fics that have become near and dear to me: 'Can There Still Be a Brighter Dawn?' and 'The Eagle Who Must Leave Her Nest'.

2023 kept contact with friends. I assisted a friend of mine @laminecuisine (and made a new companion) to run 'Edelgard Rarepair Week'! First time co-running something, and it was fantastic!

2024. Made new friends through FE3H, and kept old ones too. Wrote a collab fanfic with amazing friend @laminecuisine! Ran the third Edelthea Week, am co-running 'Edelgard Rarepair Week 2024', AND will co-run 'FE3H Polyship Week/Weekend 2024'.

FE3H helped me overcome obstacles throughout my life. It brought joy throughout my life. It made me get out there (safely) in the world to interact with others and make friends through some, and acquaintances with others. Throughout these years I have participated in many fan weeks, I joined discords, put my hand up for fanzines, interacted with others, and so forth.

FE3H means so much to me. It has its flaws, absolutely, and problems in the fandom, but when you curate your experiences then you can meet some of the loveliest and most open-minded people out there. I am still a fan, and will be now and forever.

Thank you FE3H: for existing, giving me the gentle nudges to get involved, for rediscovering my love of writing, and trying things I never thought I would do and enjoy.

Hi, everyone! To my followers, sorry this is not a new story post 😅 but please hear me out on what I have to say PLEASE!!

I've made a Fire Emblem 3 Houses rp server on discord. This is mostly motivated cuz I've been thinking that I'd like to start a rp server of my own! The server is finished (but still very very young), and this is more of an interest check to see if anyone in the fe3h community (or just anyone in general) would be interested in joining this new server.

For the general details of it, OCs and Canon characters will be allowed for claiming, and the application processes aren't so tedious (imo, at least). We are a friendly community and also fans or rarepairs. Our goal with this exchange is to make people happy by providing more content (or just, content at all) for their beloved pairs that don’t get enough attention.

Hello MH Ask/RP Community!

For those of you remember, I posted something about the MH Community like 2 months ago and I have reached out to a few of you about this idea. Originally I was planning something for August but because of personal stuff and general laziness and lack of concept, it didn't go anywhere. So here’s my follow up.

Discord = @immortal-singing-empress​ already created a MH community discord a while ago so if you want to join it, ask the mod for the invite. However, this was not my “vision” if you will.

Community Wide Events - This is what I am really interested in

One of the things I wanted was more events on Tumblr for the whole community to participate in. An event that allows everyone to “break the ice” and participate in ways we normally do not. Here are some of my ideas.

Festivals = Inspired by the Fire Emblem Community, what about doing a seasonal festival with carnival games and events? People can create game booths, perhaps and RP threads about muses attending a festival? (We can even make them themed after the official MH events/collabs) 

War! = Inspired by WoW and Neopets (of all things...) a MASSIVE war event where blogs pick between sides. How “fights” will be determined I’m not sure. OR a variant of this is to have every blog against one common enemy (those EDWs look ripe for the picking). I had a vision of a 10+ way RP (insane I know but hey... why not?) 

Themed Events = Pick a theme and go with it? I was thinking of themes such as “Spooky Scary Skeletons” for Halloween and then change next year for something like “Zombies!” - Perhaps do RP’s and art based on themes? RP starts can be posted on one # for easy viewing.

note - i know some people have their own canons/story lines on their blogs, these events are completely optional and whether or not it is canon/AU or whatever is up to you! 

So... I need your help. What do you all think about these ideas? Feel free to message me or message me in this post if you have any ideas/input/etc!

Hello! I read your rant, i am sorry for butting in. But i think you are not problem here? Like cleary those people are not good friends to you . Friends don't bully and are mean to each other. If it happens (by accident) you can tell them it upset you and they will stop.

I also think that friends would explain to each other about things they like, for example, one of my best friends loves dark souls but i can't play games. So she often tells me about dark souls, explain to me the bosses, game mechanics and stuff. She never bullied me for getting something wrong or off, do you know what i mean?

Of course group chats can be chaotic too and quite draining. I do not handle them well either i get overwhelmed.

Again, i think the problem is then being mean to you and group chats being overwhelming as well. Don't blame yourself over it. Its not your fault, just do what its best for you. It may be hard, but your mental health is important.

No it’s not a problem to me, very rarely do I get asks these days so it’s always a nice surprise to see one. Ah yes, that group really was mean spirited, it happen a long while back when Discord wasn’t a big thing as it is now ( wow I’m showing my age here ) and I didn’t really last that long in there because I realized that when the mods were leaving because how toxic it was, so did I. It was a Fire Emblem base group and the fandom is pretty huge, but these type of people were hardcore veterans and really didn’t like the new installments at the time and here was me who first played a “modern” Fire Emblem, so you can see where the trouble is. It wasn’t meant to be and I was a bit sad I had to leave it because it was my first attempt to try and socialize online without my actual friends and it backfired really hard on me, one day when I’m comfortable I might try again, but right now I’m just fine where I am of just posting things that’s on my brain.

I actually do like it when my friends explain the things they like to me, like I have one friend who gets into many things when she’s bored and ask me if I heard it when I say no she explains it to me since that’s just our thing sometimes, we talk about the things we like and engage into it, however in the group chat we are in together, it has about 14 people in there, but only like…8 talk in there ( most of them are my friends their own friends in there and I’m horrible at saying ‘no’ so they kind of taken it as a green light to invite the person and then the said person never speaks again after being in there for a week ), but since the pandemic last year it’s been pretty quiet since they’re in other group chats with others to talk about whatever video games that came out, the hugest thing to happen in there was Genshin Impact and I told them nicely that I couldn’t get into another gacha game plus I really can’t physically play the game, so they respected that and I guess that’s why it’s been quiet because they are really into Genshin Impact, so it’s like ‘sorry you can’t play this game with us, so we’ll just talk about it almost all the time’. I listen to them talk about other things, but sometimes it feels like when I try to talk in there, they mostly don’t respond back ever or change the subject completely. I have brought it up to them many times, but it’s not really working which I don’t like because they’re nice people, really they are! But I guess since I don’t play many of the games they do or have the nostalgia for a long running series, I’m just kind of…Brushed off? Like I use to go into Discord call almost every night in that chat, but these days it’s once in a blue moon.

I also think I get frustrated when I can’t do these silly rants, they tend to think it’s like my core personality, when it’s not, sometimes I just wanna rant about bad RNG in the gacha games I play and I’ll feel better, but I don’t do it often because again they just change the subject or brush me off, this happen last year but a character that many of us wanted and almost everyone in my chat got this character on the first day of the banner, but I didn’t at the time and I just ranted a little about how RNG was a big butt, but one of my friends took it a little personally about how she felt bad that I didn’t get the character when she did pretty early so two of my friends basically told me that was kind of uncalled for that I did that—to ruin someone else’s fun I guess is the word? And it hurt a lot because I never intended to do that, so it was kind of an eye opener to me and since then it hasn’t felt the same for me since. We also talk about role playing, but like with video games they have other chats that they talk about their OCs or characters they RP as, and so whenever I wanna talk about my characters I stopped myself because nothing will come out of it. It’s the lack of interaction and I hate to say it, but bias towards my friend who I mention early, because ( I hate comparing ) if I’m feeling down in the dumps whenever I bring it up, it’s not much of a big deal, but if my friend is? It gets pretty active, so it just makes me self doubt a lot if they really see me as a friend or just someone I happen to be a friend if that makes sense.

Sorry for going off course , but yeah I get what you mean because I don’t understand many game mechanic things myself. I’m a millennial that didn’t grow up with video games till I was 11 years old, and even then I have small handful of game series I play.

Yeah in high school their was this group I was in and it had over 10 people in it and I just hated it so much that I didn’t hang out with them much or when I do, I just stay quiet and hope lunch ends lmao.

JANUARY 7 -- Hot Cocoa Social.

         By now, we should all know how the first day of our events work. Our designated vacation area is just as beautiful as the last two have been, if not a bit more elegant for the occasion ( we hope you like snow and ice ). Alm will be taking Reflet’s place this event, and thus will take you on a tour once we have all of the details back from Anna  ! Complimentary hot cocoa and refreshments will be served in the grand foyer, and check-in for the ice hotels will be today  ! As always, roommates will be available, and we will have a liaison service for it. Don’t worry, it may be an ice hotel, but it’s just as warm and cozy as any other. 

❄️ - Roommate liaison will be running once again for this event. It is encouraged that if you partake in this, you interact with your roommates you are assigned. If there are problems with the assignment or requests, let us know as soon as possible. 

JANUARY 8 -- Winter Wonderland Bazaar.

         Walking in a winter wonderland ♪~  Oh, for sure ! What festival is complete without our vendors  !?! Never fear, we would never make our gracious vendors stand out in the cold. Instead, we’ve reserved a wing of our resort specifically for all of you who wish to run a booth  ! You will be warm and well cared for, as a thank you for coming and dragging our business all the way out here  ! 

❄️ - Vendor applications will also be opening up soon  ! Vendor spots are unlimited, as always. If you have something you would like to give to the festival, do send in an application  ! Nearly all of them get accepted and will be posted on a masterlist.

❄️ - Please limit muse activity to one booth so as to not overwork yourself or to confuse festival go-ers. We ask that if you run a booth, you remain running that booth and not open another

          As they say, in the  ♫  meadow we can build a snowmaaaan ~  ! Tuesday is all about the snow ! There’s a hefty hill that I’m just itching to get a sled on. If you think you can take me, I’d be more than happy to race anyone down it. When you’re raised in the snow, you learn a few tricks. But aside from this, we’re also going to be holding a Snowman Showcase and our jingling sleigh rides from horse and elegant carriages  ! Bring your extra scarves and carrots  ! And maybe you can swipe some buttons from some coats. Don’t worry, regardless, we the mods have an abundance of extra layers for everyone should you need them  !

JANUARY 10 -- Annual Snowball Fight.

          Who’s up for Team Laslow to make a comeback  ? This event will run VERY similar to our Summer Volleyball match ! Captains are encouraged, I mean, unless you’re scared to take me on. So gather some teammates and meet us in the courtyard. It’ll be cold out there so bundle up ! Don’t be afraid of a little snow pelting you in the face on this one, I’ll bet it’s bound to happen. By the end of this competition, you’ll all be one with the snow.

❄️ --  Teams ARE ENCOURAGED. Matches will be generated ala ‘ hunger games simulator ’ style. We will be posting a call for captains very soon, are we’re looking for 4-8 teams to compete gauntlet-style. If you are interested in forming a team of 8-12 players, be on the lookout. Ground rules and more description on this to come  ! 

❄️-- Submissions for snowball teams will open Thursday, January 4th, and will close Sunday, January 7 at 11:59 PM EST. We will have the matchups posted by end of the day Monday. Please have your FULL teams ready to submit by then. If you are a captain, please count your players and make absolutely sure you have at least 8 players, and no more than 12. We will be counting.

❄️ -- We will only accept full team submissions. Once you submit your team, there will be no additions or substitutions. So be absolutely sure your roster is complete before submitting. If you are short on players, ask around and join forces if you must  !

JANUARY 11 -- The Snow Ball. 

      Deck the halls with boughs of holly ! And maybe a little mistletoe, too. Tonight, we cordially, elegantly, formally invite you to our Winter Snow Ball. In case you’re wondering, this is a formal event. Music will be playing, refreshments will be laid out, and of course, there will be dancing within the grand ballroom. I would get your commissions in to your seamstresses and break out your glass slippers now, ladies and gents, it’s dress to impress ! Though, I hope that all of you will reserve yourself at least one dance with yours truly  !

JANUARY 12 -- Movie Night.

         As usual, Friday will be movie night in the sitting room  ! Once again, we will be holding two showings to accomodate everyone. One showing will be at 1:00 PM EST ( approximately 7:00 PM/19:00 in EU. ) and the other showing will be at 8:00 PM EST ( approximately 2:00 AM in EU ). Movie suggestions will be opened during the week of the event, and a poll will go up to finalize the choice  !

❄️ -- Once again, there will be a discord chatroom opened for the duration of movie night and the final farewell day. Discord room will open approximately 11:00 AM EST ( 5:00 PM/ 17:00 in EU ).

JANUARY 13 -- Aurora Bourealis Bash. 

         If we’re not mistaken, we have planned the outrealms Aurora Bourealis to appear on this night ! We have a viewing room with an open ceiling just for this event ! Of course, this will end our vacation, sadly, but I think I can already hear the talk of bunny ears in the distance.

HotE Plays Gaiden Event

Starting December 29th, we will begin a new event in which History of the Emblem will play Fire Emblem Gaiden as a community! We hope to give new fans, or fans who have never played Gaiden before, the opportunity to play alongside and talk, share insight, and discuss their thoughts with veterans of the game, and for those who have played Gaiden before, we encourage you to try a playthrough challenge.

This event will be timed to keep everyone more or less at the same pace, but the deadlines should not be something to stress over. This is for fun, after all.

Mod N and Mod Ree will be supplying patched and unpatched ROMs of Gaiden, as well as a Beginner’s Guide, so all you have to do to participate is set up a NES emulator! However, those who would prefer to play Shadows of Valentia instead are welcome to do so, and we will keep that in mind when deciding the schedule.

We will be following the tag #HotE Plays Gaiden on Tumblr and reblogging posts that we like, so we encourage you to post your screenshots, artwork, analyses, thoughts, anything! We look forward to seeing them! We also have a Valentia channel in our Discord server if you are interested in further discussing the game.

Corrin is Nohr/Conquest focused, meaning anything I do by default will follow that plot. I am canon divergent in the sense that Corrin is slightly more aggressive than in-canon, but beyond that, Conquest it is.

I am always available to plot. I have a Discord, and my tumblr IMs are always open. Message me with any ideas and we will see where they go! I’m very shy and won’t often message first, and I have social anxiety, so DO NOT start a message off with “HEY CAN WE RP!?”

AUS & CROSSOVERS

AUs and Crossovers are good stuff. As stated, this blog is selective, so Crossovers will only happen if the muses fit in well together. Expect a new AU every other day (realistically I adore AUs so I will always make a lot, but not that often. if you have an idea, we can plot it out!)

Corrin isn’t really sexual, but I like joking on Sexual Sunday, so expect A LOT of innuendos and implications on here. I personally prefer not to smut, so it will never get beyond implications. How Kiraji got into FE

Uh, to answer the ask we had today... Sorry bro, I ended up typing a lot...

Hi everyone, today I’d like to talk about why I love FE so much. This has my personal opinions (I mean usually we keep our opinions out of the equation but c'mon, it’s story time) so watch out for that.

It all started… In 2012 I would say. An aunt was coming to visit from another state, me being a bratty child expected a gift. She told me she picked up a game for my Wii, and of course I was ecstatic. I grabbed the case, looked at it and felt it would be a pretty cool action game with you being an OP mage and a super cool thief… So I ran to my room, started playing… And found out I was playing an RPG. At first I was sooooo disappointed, I wanted action, to go kill stuff! I said to myself “might as well play this” and kept going… I didn’t realize how much I was loving this style at first, it was so challenging but fun (I was playing on normal mode… If you have played Radiant Dawn you know how tough that can be, specially for a child). And I’m proud to say I got to the Black Knight level on one sitting! The problem? Micaiah was lvl 3… I was so frustrated I kept dying I started a new save file… And that was when it clicked. The strategy, feeling smart after every level. Feeling like a great tactician… Those were the things that enamor me to this day.

Then I played Shadow Dragon, a cousin had an R4, he had that game and I beat it… Although I don’t remember a thing about it.

Afterwards I got my own phone with a touch screen, yay! I usually got bored and since I was a stingy bastard I didn’t want to spend on games, so I looked up for emulators for my phone and settled on a GBA one. I googled “Best GBA games” and on the list there was FE7. I remembered fondly my adventures with Radiant Dawn, so I said what the hell and downloaded it. I was breezing through it, if I’m honest. I had 2 Generals so nothing was damaging my severely underleveled Eliwood… And then the level in which you have to rescue Jaffar (was that his name?) happened. I was stuck there! My generals could never reach him in time and I sure as hell wasn’t going to reset the whole thing… So I gave someone a mobility cheat and beat the game like that. Yeah, I kinda feel bad I cheated, right now I’m starting it again to make amends, okay?

Then I was craving for more, so I downloaded Sacred Stones and oh my God did I love it… I still do, heck I’m the Magvel mod. There’s something magical about that game, the gorgeous animation, the memorable characters, the tight gameplay… Even the bs levels with fog are so damn fun. I dunno guys, I will not talk about this game much because I’d like you to experience first hand. Trust me.

Fast forward to last year, I was on the mall and had like 80 bucks to burn. I went to EB Games and saw there was a new Fire Emblem game… 2 in fact. I had no idea which to choose, so I quickly googled them and found out that apparently Conquest was super hard and stuf… Me being a wimp settled for Birthright and don’t get me wrong, I love the game (more than some other mods I’d say) and I found the best character ever…. Rhajat. If you have been in the server you know how much I love her, I’ll save the reason to why for another post. Afterwards I bought Conquest and well… It’s not as hard as they say and tbh I didn’t like it as much mainly because you have to deal with Garon. And Garon is a major ass. But on the flip side you get Camilla, Peri, Beruka and Charlotte.

So that’s my story! I mean, I kinda wanted to let you guys know about why I love these games so much. I’m not the most versed in general FE of all the mods but at least I know my Sacred Stones… Oh and don’t forget to check the discord! We’ve memes and fun! And I welcome everyone personally!
