Tron Deadly Discs
Greetings Programs!
Today we'll be taking a look at the first of 3 Mattel video games published the same year as the original Tron movie: Tron: Deadly Discs. Originally released for the Intellivision console, it was also made for the Atari 2600 (under Mattel's M Network label) and the Mattel Aquarius (although this was actually ported in 1983). Each version has different aspects that will be covered in a bullet list down below.
The Intellivision version was programmed by Don Daglow and Steven Sents. I couldn't find much on Sents unfortunately. Daglow, however, programmed notable games like "Utopia" and "Dungeon" and even went on to found the now defunct studio Stormfront Studios Inc. They were responsible for games such as Neverwind Nights and several Tony La Russa baseball games. The Intellivision version came with the cartridge, an instruction manual, 2 overlays for the controller, and a nifty little flyer with deals for the movie.
As far as I can find, the Atari 2600 came with just a cartridge and an instruction manual. The Aquarius version came with the cartridge, instruction manual, 2 controller overlays, and a keyboard overlay.
All three games follow the same premise: you play as Tron, locked in the game grid and forced to fight against endless waves of enemies. Intellivision Master managed to get 19 million points, which I believe is the current world record! The enemies will appear through doors around the edge of the arena and you can keep them "jammed" open by throwing your disc at them. You can use said doors to travel to the opposite side of the map if there's a corresponding door. Basic enemies will attack by throwing their own disc; they're not harmful if Tron touches the enemies themselves (an exception would be the Guards in Intellivision and Intellidiscs). You have the ability to recall your disc in mid-fight, but it'll be rendered harmless as it returns.
During my research I stumbled upon Intellidiscs- a fan conversion of the Intellivision version for the Atari 8-bit/5200. It was published by Phaser Cat Games in May 2021 and programmed by Ryan Whitman, with sounds by Bobby Clark. At the initial release, you could actually purchase a physical cartridge that came in a custom box with an instruction manual and custom controller overlay. Wired-Up Retro has a great unboxing and playing of it. According to the site, this cartridge could be played on North America and NTSC TV sets. Don't worry, you can download the ROM for free from their site as well! This version also features battle mods, where you can battle up to 4 players. The enemies follow the same format as the Intellivision (shown below, just with different names). There are developer diaries if you wish to see some behind the scenes -> here.

Intellivision (review with gameplay)
Distinct enemies, each with own abilities:
Warriors- light blue, 1 hitpoint
Leaders- appear after 10,000 points, dark blue, special disks, 1hp, can increase other warriors' skills. Introduces brown (double damage) and white discs (lock-on)
Bulldogs- purple, move slower, 2 hitpoints, less accurate
Guards- orange, white paralyzing sticks to immediately end the game, 4hp, appear after 1 million points
Recognizers: will take out the usable doors in between waves after a certain amount of doors are jammed, 1 touch is instant death, will fire a stun attack to freeze Tron for duration of knocking out doors, can disable it by attacking the "eye" when it turns white causing it to leave at the bottom offscreen. Exclusive to this version.
3 different speeds for the disc
To play, you can use both of the controllers- one for disc direction, other to move Tron around. Otherwise the typical controller would be with one controller and the number pad would control the disc direction [insert pic of instruction manual]
Start out with 3 hitpoints, 1 life, move slower if got hit, restart at each wave
Progression- 20,000: increase HP to 4, 100,000: increase HP to 5
Warrior point value increases with your score
Tron is red for some reason
Features 16 directions (very fancy for the time)
Atari 2600 (review with gameplay)
No recognizers
Doors close after 1 use
Enemies only have difference in color and each color is assigned a specific point amount (for instance, the basic light green warrior is worth 10 points, while the gold warriors are worth 800 points)
Everything controlled with joystick
Once a warrior is defeated, another will spawn in 10 seconds unless you defeat the last warrior of that wave
Have 5 hp, regained at the end of each wave. Only 1 life
Mattel Aquarius (gameplay)
Similar gameplay as the previous- tossing disc to derezz 3 enemy soldiers at a time in waves
No recognizers
Doors situated in specific spots that can be left open if you attack them, will close once you use them
Tron can gain a shield- can use 10pts to gain it (from what I can tell based on gameplay)
Enemies worth 50pts, only one type (red colored)
Atari 8-bit/5200 fan game
Published under the name "Intellidiscs" by Phaser Cat Games
A fan conversion of the Intellivision released in May 2021, for North America and NTSC TV sets according to their site.

hey I've been listening to the yard for about a year and a half and I want to get more into it ifywim do I just start watching old vods to catch up or is there any content u can recommend as a baseline must-watch
this is by no means a comprehensive list because i've only really been watching the yard since dec 2022 and my 2021 stint in lud viewing was brief and casual (didn't know what i had) but it is a fucking long list so i'll keep it under the cut. included stuff that maybe i wouldn't classify as a must watch but i wanted to include it so you can pick and choose what interests you
PODCASTS - I know for a fact there are other podcast appearances out there that I don't know of but here are a few:
the yard x wine about it - it's just the four of them and qt which means good times! this is an essential imo
there are a few eps of fear& that they appear on! specifically rec the ep with nick and aiden and the ep with ludwig and aiden. there are also a few eps with ludwig and slime (not at the same time) if you're interested in those
i've watched aiden on three different interview podcasts all are worth a watch to me: karat interview, across the bar, and good griefed (audio a little scuffed on this one but it's cute)
fucking loved nick's ep of across the bar because his outlook on creativity is super relatable to me. he also did something with safety third that i've been meaning to watch but haven't yet!
VIDEOS AND STREAMS - there's a lot here but i'll try to describe what's what
mogul money ft the yard - this is the full vod, there's also a cut down video. extremely fun watch
nick was also on mogul money live (first game specifically) and he and aiden appear in the bts video a little bit
qt posted vlogs from italy! they're all fun watches and there's some good moments. one, two, three, four
qt and aiden halloween gingerbread house video. ludwig and aiden kiss in this one. i think the full vod is in god's hands unfortunately
qt and aiden make shit in an ezbake oven and make the guys eat it. fun little video. idk if the vod is out there somewhere or not
there's a cut down version of this too but the full stream of qt having all the guys do a gingerbread house competition is very peak
lud did a shit load of taste test videos with the guys for a slim jim sponsor. this might not be all of them but here are the ones i cold find off rip (fruit, cheese, chocolate, water, steak)
ludwig has done a shitload of ylyl streams with slime that you can find and honestly i have a horrible mediashare allergy so i haven't watched a lot of them but i have watched the one they did with aiden and the one with everyone but idk where the full vod is for the latter
from ludwig's fortnite mondays, there was a week where slime and nick played with jerma and sapnap. idk if any of the others posted the vod but here's sapnap's
the subathon has a shitload of stuff that i can't even begin to link but if you want the experience of the dcom series without subbing to tier 2 they watched the truman show starting about an hour thirty into this vod, tho it takes a hot minute to get everything lined up with the time stamps
halloween po unboxing where them + qt dress up as characters from scooby doo. nick looks frankly obscene as velma this is a great vod
how many flashlights does it take to cook an egg is exactly what it sounds like. it's lud slime and nick ft a little bit of yingo
they play the family feud game together in these two vods: just them and against miz/otk (can't stand miz but it was still good)
RECENT STUFF - aka stuff you probably know about or have seen because you've been around a year and a half but i figured i'd include them anyway since they happened off the pod
two months ago they all played fortnite on lud's stream and it was awesome
both the show matches of the ludwig tarik invitationals are worth watching if you're into valo! the first one is team mogul v otv and they're split up in the second. if the timestamps are broken it's 2h30 in both vods
the rivals 2 tournament is fun! i don't understand shit about fighting games but i love to see the boys play
cdawgva ski vod with lud and aiden from the japan trip! there's also a cut down version of youtube but i found it a fun watch
recency bias alert: they all played in creator dodgeball
the qt and aiden winter cocktail tierlist stream was so good like genuinely a stream of all time to me. ludwig hangs around for parts of it
the yard doing the dougdoug fast food challenge is a MUST WATCH! they celebrate and they suffer what could be more beautiful
otv's fear pong video with them is so fucking good. SO GOOD!

I've recently rewatched Mclarens Unboxed from Abu Dhabi GP 2020 (because apparently i enjoy self harm), so i wanted to hear your thoughts on Lando's and Carlos' race together, maybe some post race feelings?
because the video itself is a bittersweet watch, i can't imagine how it was in real life that day
Ooooof I just rewatched before I went to answer this ask and it still hurts tbh. 0/10 would not recommend watching the farewell video to Ferrari afterward.
I'm sure it was also extremely bittersweet in person as well. On the one hand, you had them getting to celebrate bringing McLaren back up to p3 in the constructors', and on the other hand, you had everyone saying goodbye to Carlos. I think there are a lot of small moments that really build for me (apart from the "fewawi friends" moment from a race prior). Lando looking like he wants to be anywhere else during Carlos' speech in the garage; Carlos saying he's already said everything he needs to Lando, and that they need to keep their relationship private; Lando and Carlos quietly reading the messages the team left for Carlos, etc. They laughed through the helmet swap, but it's clear in the messages they wrote to each other that there's a lot of feelings hiding under the surface.
I think it was incredibly hard for Lando specifically, which partly explains the growing pains he had with Daniel for half of the 2021 season. Really shows how close he and Carlos were (and still are) to each other- especially during covid while they were all cooped up together at the races. I really think it's evident that they and their personal teams forged a bond over those two years that they'll never have with another teammate again.

Cass I wish I could easily explain the Dream situation but it's the culmination of literal years of him mistreating and grooming people. The TLDR of EXCLUSIVELY the current insane events is.
-> Nicolas Cantu, voice actor for Gumball Watterson (the Amazing World of Gumball), was for a moment a minecraft youtuber under the handle JunkyJanker. For years the main thing people talked about wrt his minecraft career was that he beat James Charles in Minecraft Monday. However, he's been in the creator space and thus would have access to Minecraft creators.
-> In iirc 2021 Nicolas Cantu called Dream's merch shitty on Twitter. Dream's merch was in fact shitty, but Dream and his fans made his life hell over it, including taking shots at(?) his dead dog(?) Events I was not present for since I very intentionally keep Dream away.
-> more recently, people come forward with leaked snapchat messages where Dream is being sexual with minors. An adult he was Also being sexual with leaks snapchat messages confirming that the account and typing style were his. This is barely addressed until the last few weeks.
-> Dream REALLY BADLY tries to defend himself from the pedo accusations on stream. It doesn't go well for him. Shortly after, a ton of his remaining "friends" from the DSMP finally outright unfollow him. Cue the wave of "war is over" tiktoks from fans of the content creators who unfollowed him.
-> Directly after failing to defend himself on stream, Dream posts a tiktok "unboxing" a minecraft t-shirt that has the text "I love miners" on it. This is quickly deleted, but his lawyers are doubtlessly sweating. Nobody knows why the fuck he'd post that.
-> Nicolas Cantu calls him out for making pedo jokes while under accusations.
-> Dream posts a blackmail video in response to this. Said video is from an Uber ride where Cantu, then 19, is visibly drunk and manic, and Dream is clearly pressing his buttons. In said video he calls Dream a faggot. When Dream keeps pushing him, Cantu punches him.
-> Dream clearly expects this to be a hate mob against Cantu. It is not. People are mostly wondering why he, an adult well above the drinking age, is in an Uber with a drunk 19 year old. And why he's recording said drunk 19 year old. People call him THE FUCK out because he clearly was sitting on this video for some time.
-> While Dream is failing to handle this situation he's made for himself, a MCYT Burner account posts leaked dms and recordings from his snapchat of him moaning at a minor. The owner of said account files a police report in the state of Florida because said leaks apparently contain CP.

- the premiere date in the us moved from october 13 to september 29. it's also the premiere date for canada
- the movie will focus on skye

- january 27: voice cast announced!
we have eight ryders! finn lee-epp will be ryder in the film
i predicted that justin paul kelly will be voicing chase in the film TWICE, but it never happened. i was wishing for him to shine as chase. well anyway, i'm sure christian convery will do great
christian corrao did well in all paws on deck, so yeah, confirmed that he's marshall
crying because it's not lilly bartlam as skye. clues are showing that it's mckenna grace. at first i was worried because i've heard her normal voice before. but because of spirit untamed, i'm sure she'll do great

- the main six pups have the same powers from the tv movie and subseries, but there are a few upgrades: marshall can create fireballs, rocky can be a magnet, zuma can turn into a puddle of water, and skye has super strength

- so far, only finn lee-epp (ryder) had several interviews about the movie. the team us cast appeared only on featurettes and interviews that were recorded a few months ago
- the official soundtrack with original score by pinar toprak was released on september 29
- there will be a third theatrical film set to release in 2026!
- the movie is on digital on october 31!
- the dvd for the mighty movie will release in the us on december 12.

I purchased Rugrats (2021) on DVD on Wednesday from Amazon and made an unboxing/unwrapping video. Tik Tok and YouTube saw it first. Rugrats has been removed on Paramount Plus so the only solution is to buy the DVD set of Rugrats. Sad to see the show canceled so soon as it had so much potential being a complete remake of a classic 90’s show but I will always have the memories of it and the DVD’s 📀👶🍼📺

About the Client: Geek Fuel is the world’s #1 pop culture subscription box, an online retailer, and a design house for geeky collectibles.
Work & Results: In late 2021, TikTok had exploded in popularity and Instagram was pushing their Reels video channel. Videos were quickly becoming the best way to reach your audience. We began creating video content in the forms of short product videos, product showcases, announcements, unboxing compilations, animations, and more.

Tesla Talisman 306u Vintage Radio
Date: June 14, 2021 Hello! How are you?
It’s been a while since I wrote anything here because, well, you know, I’ve been busy and all that. My time is spent working, volunteering, and sleeping these days.
Recently I was listening to a broadcast/podcast from Radio Slovakia International about the Tesla Talisman 308, a radio that was made in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s – you can check out the episode here.
The story fascinated me and, naturally, I took to eBay to see if I could find one.
There weren’t any 308 models available but I did find a 306u model which, I understand, is the British equivalent.
The lost the auction on the first one I saw by £2. Then I saw another and after being made a offer of £115, I decided to go for it. Let’s just say it’s now mine, although I have run out of space to put it.
This afternoon, whilst waiting for some extra bits from Amazon, I cobbled together an improvised aerial with speaker wire, and received my first station – Absolute Radio (or in old terms, Virgin 1215).
