Who are you?

I'm Kiana, I'm a queer, Japanese Jamaican woman, and a Director/Storyboard artist who works in animation. I'm currently at Disney Television Animation.

What are your pronouns?

I usually go by she/her but I don't really mind any pronouns~

Where did you go to school?

California College of the Arts (but I dropped out when I was hired at Disney)

How did you get hired at Disney?

My bosses found me on twitter. They liked my drawing style and asked if I wanted to take a storyboard test. I did, I passed, I got interviewed and moved to LA two weeks later to start storyboarding.

Your work seems familiar. What do I know you from?

I've been on the internet for a long time! It could be a number of things. As maimai97 on dA I had a comic about next gen Pokemon characters called Pokemon 25 Years Later. As kilala97 I had some popular next gen ponies and also had a Steven Universe gemsona named Larimar. I'm also @yamujiburo, known most for drawing Jessie x Delia (hanamusa) a lot. I also work professionally! I've worked as a storyboard artist and director on Disney Channel's Big City Greens, I was a storyboard artist on one of the Steven Universe anti-racism shorts and I was a storyboard artist on Pokemon: Path to the Peak. Most recently I've been on season 6 of Dropout's Game Changer!

What program and brush do you use to draw?

Default brush in Storyboard pro. Photoshop sometimes just for compositing or specific effects.

What is this project?

This is a project that started off as a silly idea that has since grown into me creating a 10 minute pilot animatic.

What does "pilot animatic" entail?

It means that it's effectively a pilot/episode 1 of a (potential) larger series. It's fully voice acted but is not fully animated. It's an animatic, meaning it will be comprised of storyboards in video form.

When and where can I watch the pilot!?

Now and right here!

What would this series be rated?

Ideally like PG13/TV14! Or whatever they call it. Definitely more geared to a YA audience. Not completely kiddy but also not what most people would consider adult animation to be

What are you planning to do with the project now that the pilot has released?

Don't know yet! There has been a lot of studio interest and even offers, so I'm in the process of talking with them and seeing if I can find this show a home or if I want to try doing it on my own or if I want to even continue with it at all. I know you guys are curious, but even if I wanted to tell you I couldn't. Just trust that I will make announcements as they come~

You said Aika had teammates, will we see them?

Because of the studio interest and potential for more of this show, there's some stuff I'm still holding close to my chest. This is one of them.

Do the characters have parents??

Zira does! As for Aika and Eclipse, this is something I'm still developing and don't really know myself haha

What are the characters' sexualities?

Don't know right now. Headcanon away!

Is "Star Guardian: Guardian of the Stars" a reference to that vine?

Nope! It's more so a parody for just really long and redundant titles which I love. Similar to the title of this project, which is called "Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl"

Last year, we had a Pokemon Presents announced on Feb20. Since we have a week left till Pokemon Day tomorrow, it's pretty likely we'll FINALLY get the announcement there. (At least it's most likely imminent in the next few days. I don't think this prediction is too far off the mark.)

We've had them consistently every Pokemon Day since 2021, generally whenever we have something big coming. The years we haven't had them on Pokemon Day (2017, 2018, and 2020 were years we had a third version, a remake, and DLC respectively. 2023 was DLC too, but I feel SV's DLC had more going on with story and characters, at least 😅)

POKESHIPPING WEEK 2024!

It's that time again, pokeshippers!

Last year, we announced that the format of Pokeshipping Week - one theme per day - was getting retired. We also said that we'd still put on a celebration of some kind going forward. Well, the time is here, and I'm happy to announce that we are planning a pokeshipping zine...next year!

If you'll forgive the bait-and-switch there, we have seriously talked about doing a zine, but time got away from us this summer. So, while we do hope to tackle that undertaking in 2025, for this year, we're planning what you might call an open Pokeshipping Week!

How does it work, you ask? Simple: over the years, you all have submitted a lot of potential themes for Pokeshipping Week. For every seven that got chosen each year, plenty were left behind. Well, now you can fill November 1 to 7 with art, fics, AMVs, GIFs, graphics, etc., all about our favorite Poke-couple, using any seven you'd like from the unused themes list.

Any and all contributions are welcome, and if they're tagged #pokeshipping week 2024, we'll reblog them here and on the main @pokeshipping blog. Besides Tumblr, we’ll keep our eyes out for the tag on Twitter and DeviantART for artwork, for fanfics on FF.Net and AO3, and for AMVs on YouTube (no NSFW, please).

LEGO And Lucasfilm Animation Announce Second "LEGO Star-Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy" Mini-Series "Pieces Of The Past"

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past was announced today at the Star Wars Celebration LIVE! Stage in Japan, where Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best made a surprise appearance to discuss how his character was reimagined in LEGO form as the fan-favorite Darth Jar Jar in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.

“We’ve been asked, what’s next for Sig, Yesi, and Jedi Bob? Will there be more Darth Jar Jar?” Hernandez explained. “Star Wars Celebration fans, we’re excited to announce that their story will continue.” Samit then revealed the new season’s title via a hand-built, “brick by brick” LEGO timelapse.

But of course, the original Rebuild the Galaxy left Darth Jar Jar with a bit of a cliffhanger ending. So with a special video greeting from showrunners and writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (Walt Disney Studios and Point Grey Pictures "Figment", Warner Bros & The Pokemon Company "Detective Pikachu") The new sequel Pieces of the Past was announced, coming September 19, 2025 to Disney+.

Following the greeting, a new poster was unveiled full of enticing surprises and clues about what this new LEGO Star Wars story has to offer. There’s a brick-built Chewbacca made from over 2,000 individual LEGO pieces, and wait a moment. Is that… Jaxxon?! The one and only Lepi smuggler first seen in the classic Star Wars Marvel comics?! It sure is. Having appeared in a number of Star Wars comics of recent years, this will mark Jaxxon’s first named appearance in an animated story. The character will be voiced by Ben Schwartz (Paramount "Sonic The Hedgedog" franchise, "DuckTales")

But that wasn’t all! A distinctive LEGO BrickHeadz version of Ahsoka Tano will also appear in Pieces of the Past. Ahsoka's voice actor Ashley Eckstein walked onstage to the cheers of fans with LEGO BrickHeadz Ahsoka in hand and discussed her involvement in the series.

“When I got the call that I was going to be returning as Ahsoka, I cried,” Eckstein told the crowd of fans. “I’ve missed her so much. I’ve missed you all so much. This has really been a dream come true. I am such a huge fan of LEGO. I have so many of these Ahsoka BrickHeadz and I now get to voice her!”

Eckstein reflected that Ahsoka’s storyline in Pieces of the Past is “such a good representation of Ahsoka,” as she put it. “Last time I was on this stage I talked about how Ahsoka lives in all of us, and we’ve really made Ahsoka’s story our own story. We’ve experienced Star Wars for an entire generation through Ahsoka’s eyes… and we’ve literally created our own story through Ahsoka, and that’s what this story is about. There’s so much heart in BrickHeadz Ahsoka, and we’re all going to relate to her. You’re going to love it.”

The four-part sequel series LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past arrives on Disney+ on September 19, 2025.

Every screen in the city - be it a television, a phone, the digital screen on the fridge - all tuned into the same image. Rudimentary camera work pointed at a barely-lit visage. A three-eyed beast, each eye sporting a gleam as its feline features became more apparent. For many this was a beast that had appeared once before, but for others? “I AM THE MAD MERRYMAKER, THE PRINCE OF– AH, I’VE DONE THIS BEFORE. SIMPLY CALL ME K’HORII.”

As the cat beast spoke, throughout the city those that came from other worlds began to feel peculiarly disoriented. They couldn’t tear their eyes away from the screens but neither did they feel rooted on the ground. Almost as if it were an out of body experience. “MY ATTENTION WAS CAUGHT BY THESE HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES OF YOURS! AREN’T THEY PECULIAR? YOU LOT SPEND THE OTHER 11 MONTHS OF THE YEAR ARGUING AND FIGHTING, BUT AROUND THE HOLIDAYS YOU PRETEND TO GET ALONG! DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND ONE ANOTHER? NO! BUT THAT IS THE POINT OF MY BUSINESS HERE.”

All three of K’horii’s eyes shone crimson, and the point of view of every outsider in the city changed. They were not merely in a different place, but a different body entirely. “THE GAME IS SIMPLE! EVERY SO OFTEN YOU’LL BE SHUFFLED AROUND INTO ANOTHER BODY! WELL, IT’S MORE OF A SWAP. BEFORE YOU’RE SENT TO ANOTHER FORM YOU’LL BE RETURNED TO YOUR OWN. TIMING? THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON! The screens all flickered off in tandem, leaving the out-of-worlders in completely different forms. At least for now. But… what could he have possibly meant by the situation not being as straightforward as it seemed?

Welcome to our next rerun event, EMPATHEOREM!

As you’ve surely gleamed from the above text, this event is based around the idea of living in another’s skin and coming to better understand people in ways you might not have otherwise. Here’s a general overview of how things will work mechanically:

characters can only swap with one other character at a time. the duration of the swap is up to the muns involved, and it could last the entire event, a number of hours, or even less. do what you’re comfortable with!

the characters do not to be within close proximity of one another to swap nor does it have to be with someone they know. it could be with someone on the other side of the city, leaving them to try and figure out who they are.

swapping must be done with mun permission. please respect the boundaries of other muns!

you cannot swap with an animal / pokemon unless they are a character on the masterlist. if there’s a pikachu on the masterlist for example you could swap with them, but not the pokemon of a trainer on the masterlist.

powers remain bound to the body regardless of whether they are physical or mental along with the unlock limitations. so if muse a were to swap with muse b, they would be able to use all of muse b’s unlocked powers provided they could figure out how to use them.

it isn’t merely a physical swap however, and there are side effects to being in another’s body that become more and more prominent the more time they spend swapped.

swapped characters may be prone to acting more and more like the owner of the body they are in. so for example if muse a and muse b swap, the longer they remained swapped the more they may begin to act like one another.

swapped characters may also experience one another’s memories. with mun permission, feel free to have them remember experiences only the host body might have known. this is a great way for characters to learn things about one another that might otherwise have gone unsaid!

the former two points are optional. you do not need to utilize either if you are not comfortable with it.

if your character has any special biological traits to note, please make sure to include this information in an info post or on your ad! in cases where characters have a fatal weakness to something mundane (in cases like being weak to the sun), you can choose to have anyone in their body subconsciously realize this for example. please do not kill anyone else’s muse without permission!

a posted mini will not count as participation during this event unless it is replied to before the event period ends. likewise during this event, drabbles will not count. this is because the event is very dependent on bond building interactions and we would like you guys to reach out and write with each other.

if you are not comfortable swapping with another character you are free to avoid doing so for the event! however to earn participation you must interact with at least one character who has swapped with someone else!

in regards to icons: if you’d like to offer up icons for people to use you can, but it isn’t mandatory at all!

you can use an info post to list things like unique biological characteristics, unlocked powers, and what kind of things like memories or personality traits a character in their body may come to expect if you’re okay with them experiencing these things. you can also provide a sampling of usable icons if you’d like! we recommend you tag these info posts with ‘#iremp info’.

even if you have mun permission we will not allow nsfw to be written during the event (unless it takes place outside of the event of course!). we also ask that you do not write any content picking fun at your new body in any form, even lightheartedly, for the sake of member comfort (for instance, if your muse does not have breasts and ends up in a body that does, do not joke about “having boobies”, or if they are a different weight do not draw attention to and mock it). if you are at all unsure if something crosses this line, we ask that you refrain.

I know everyone and their mom has already said Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup will be the legends z-a starters. And they're completely 100% right, and here's why. Remember, this is only speculation, please don't take some rando's word as fact.

First off, evidence. I'm sure we've all already seen the Indigo Disk trailer with Snivy, Torchic, and Piplup with the previous legends starters, Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott respectively.

But has anyone said anything about the tera raids events? The first was Mighty Blaziken from January 19th to 21st; it's tera type was Flying type. And you're probably asking "but the new starters are probably getting megas and Blaziken already has one." Yes, but why can't he have two? Charizard and Mewtwo do, and Blaziken's quite popular, so a second mega isn't out of the question in my eyes.

Next was Mighty Empoleon from February 9th to 11th. It's tera type was Ice type.

As of this post, Serperior has yet to get a raid event, but I believe the next starter tera raid will be this haughty plant snake, and I believe it's tera type will be Fighting. Why? Because it completes this type trio:

Fighting > Ice > Flying

So we have three starters who final evolutions will be Fire/Flying, Water/Ice, and Grass/Fighting. But why these types specifically? Strap in, because this is where things get interesting.

Everyone knows that Empoleon is based on Napoleon Bonaparte, infamous general and emperor of France. So why not Water/Fighting? Because in 1812, Napoleon attempted to lead an army into Russia to conquer it. What he failed to account for was the frigid weather, which took out the majority of his troops and forced them to retreat. So maybe Kalosian Empoleon will be in this constant state of near freezing based on this event, it would be a glass cannon.

People chose Torchic as the fire starter since the rooster is France's national animal. It became France's symbol because in ancient times, when the Roman Empire occupied France (then named Gaul), the rooster wasn't worshipped, but rather the god it symbolized, Mercury, the Roman god of travelers, communication, and many others things. Mercury was also known for being very, very fast. So maybe Kalosian Blaziken will be a speedy pokemon.

About the travelers and communication bit, perhaps this oversized chicken will also be inspired by messenger pigeons, which were used during World War I to send messages across countries. (Let's hope that if abilities come back, this doesn't get speed boost again, lmao)

Finally, we come to Serperior. Pokemon designer Ken Sugimori said that Serperior was inspired by a manga called The Rose of Versailles, we all know this. It's about a woman raised as a boy trained to be a royal guard, who later leaves to join the side of the revolution. Kalosian Serperior could look more like a literal rose, covered in thorns, and will probably have a lance for a tail. This snake will definitely be both offensive and defensive, best of both worlds.

So we have a general, a guard, and a messenger. The theme surrounding these three things seems to be wartimes. A hint at the story maybe? Honestly, I could be dead wrong on this, but I don't care, I love this trio, I hope I at least get close. I might make another post speculating with other starters. Any thoughts?

EDIT 3/31/24: Ok so the next tera raid was announced, and I was kind of right. It is a grass type starter. However, it's Meganium with Psychic tera type...

Y'know what? I think I'll try and make a post predicting what this is about later.

Legends Z-A Thoughts and Theories!

Okay, I was pretty quiet on my opinions for Scarlet and Violet, but I'm confident enough to be very pleased and optimistic for this! Legends Arceus was the strongest Pokemon game we had in a decade, and to see them continue this, bring back Megas, and take an extra year to hopefully make it non-buggy? Makes me so so excited!

On Megas:

It's a bit of a surprise to see Megas back, but honestly? Not too much of a surprise. Even ignoring the inevitability of Kalos remakes, Megas are the only gimmick Pokemon kept around in their spinoffs. It was in Mystery Dungeon, Shuffle, Smash Bros, Pokemon Go, and probably more I'm forgetting! So it was always in the back of Gamefreak's mind and I'm glad it's truly back again!

With Gens 8 and 9 bringing back cross-gen evos, I think they'll focus on only giving Megas to three-stage lines, to not quash the potential of 2nd stage Pokemon getting regular evolutions. So starters and Pokemon like Flygon can get Megas since they can't evolve further, but Pokemon like Tropius and Chimecho probably won't, in case they get evolutions in Gen 10 (That then get Megas)

I also don't think we fully grasp how many more Pokemon can get Megas now, too. Barely any of Gen 5 and 6 had Megas (Seriously only 2 Pokemon between the 228 Pokemon in those gens) and we've had THREE more generations since then!!

Note: We went from wanting a Dunsparce evo, to wanting a Dunsparce Mega, to getting Dudunsparce with mixed fan reception. Now I'm going to be a selfish deluded clown bitch and get my hopes up for a Mega Dudunsparce.

Speaking of starters and Megas, do we think we'll get a mish-mash of older starters for this game that then get Megas (Say, Piplup, Snivy, and Scorbunny) or will we get Megas for the three Kalos starters?

Megas may mean Mega Stones return as held items, and held items weren't in Legends Arceus- new gameplay advancement?

Legends Arceus gave us 7 new Pokemon (most of them cross-gen evos) and a dozen new regional forms. Do you think we'll still get regionals this game, or will the design team be focused more on making new Megas instead?

On the world:

It's been confirmed the whole game is only in Lumiose City- how big is the map?? Hopefully we really do get lots of sidequests, biomes for wild Pokemon, and traversal options.

When is this? We're redeveloping Lumiose City, but are we in the past developing it into its current state, or are we in the present/future developing it into a new solarpunk city? Or neither, and this is a "Paradox" game set in a timeline which doesn't quite match ours?

This doesn't have to be an isekai (as in, we don't have to be time travellers again per se), just keep that in mind!

The "Z" in the logo represents Zygarde, with the black color and green hexagons. So who's the "A"? It's green with green scale/leaf patterns on it. What does it represent? The "Chaos" to Zygarde's "Order"? Is it a 5th Zygarde form or is it a whole new Pokemon?

Meta thoughts:

This further confirms my theory that Gen 9 will last until 2026, where they announce Gen 10 on that year's Pokemon Day for their 30th anniversary, and that's great! I'm glad they aren't overworking themselves too much compared to Gens 6-8.

On them "skipping" Unova remakes: I don't see this as skipping. We've been long overdue for a Z version since Kalos is literally the only Pokemon region to only appear in one release (no third version, no remakes, no sequels, no ultras, no DLC). So we're simply making up for the "deficit" of a third version here, and we can go back to focusing on Unova remakes for Gen 10.

Do you think we'll get any final updates to SV to tide us over until the next LegendZ trailer around August? Maybe a small DLC, mythical reveal, or free update?

Pokemon Adventures skipped the last Legends game, so they'll probably skip this one too? I'm fine either way- at least by skipping it, they won't be too rushed and stressed, and they'll actually have the time to flesh out SV and catch up with ORAS/SM/USUM/SwSh in the full volumes.

But on the off chance they do adapt Legends Z-A, do you think we'll get dexholders named Z and A??

Note for the future- the Yoasobi Pokemon song BiriBiri has a part where they namedrop all the game titles- one part has the lyrics "ABC to the XYZ". Long shot, but if Legends Z-A does indeed have an ABC theming, this could be a crazy bit of either coincidental or intentional foreshadowing!

Why I M O, Pokeshipping is dead. ( kinda hot take, sorry pokeshippers. ) So, pokeshipping. The very 1st ship in the Pokemon anime’s history. I personally am not a fan of it, I did watch the original anime, and I personally don’t like misty’s character. It was off putting to me.

Now as to what your here for, what killed pokeshipping. There are 3 main contributors to the death of pokeshipping.

1.) The length of time from when misty was replaced to now,

2.) Serena and Amourshipping

3.) The Pokémon sun and moon anime

The length of time from when misty was replaced to now. Now while this might not have been much of an issue if the other 2 bullet points didn’t exist, it has been over a decade at this point, since we last saw misty, meaning that we have a severe lack in character development, and that gives time for other potentially better ships to be created, which leads me to my next point,

Serena and Amourshipping. Possibly one of the biggest ships right now, (which at this point isn’t going to fizzle out anytime soon. ) With Amourshipping going so far, as to introduce a major plot point in ash’s story by having Serena be his childhood acquaintance, many other points that multiple poketubers like Catch ‘Em All Saul, bring up in their videos from years past, to the kiss, and even the writers basically confirming the darn thing.

So at this point, ( unless they throw all that away, which please. Don’t. ) there is next to no hope of pokeshipping to ever become cannon, which is only further proven by my last point,

The Pokémon sun and moon anime. If I can be real with y’all a bit, I have a feeling that Indigo Disk might be the last bit of main series Pokemon content on the Switch. It’s obvious that the system is in its twilight years, and it’s not long before the next console inevitably gets announced, but from a conversation that me and @thesmashwaffle had, Indigo Disk has a bit in common with the Ultra games from Gen 7, and that can be applied to both Sun and Moon and Scarlet and Violet as well.

Both games have the following in common.

Battle mechanics involving elemental crystals (Z-Moves and Terastillization).

Groups of strange, otherworldly late-game Pokemon that serve as threats to the regions they’re introduced if left alone. (The Ultra Beasts and the Paradox Pokemon).

Trios of characters that include a spunky rival wanting to get stronger a troubled kid related to a major figure involved with the main story, and a misunderstood recluse standing with a team of band of misfits (Hau and Nemona, Lillie and Arven, and Gladion and Penny).

The aforementioned teams of misfits (Team Skull and Team Star).

The box legendaries being a main part of the games instead of randomly appearing at the end (Nebby and the Raidons).

The champion battles being handled in unique ways (The Alola games having the player be the first champion of the region and defeating the title from other trainers, while SV has the player be one of many champions, along with only fighting against the Pokemon League once).

Third legendary who are involved with the aforementioned battle gimmicks and groups of late-game Pokemon (Necrozma with Z-Moves and the Ultra Beasts, and Terapagos with Terastilizing and the Paradox ‘Mons).

The Indigo Disk has the return of Pokeball throwing styles, which were introduced in the Alola game.

And while things like the return of multiple starters and legendaries might sound like another point to add to the list, a lot of other Pokemon games in recent memory have done that exact thing, so I’m not gonna count it.

Point of the matter is this; In the very same manner that the Ultra games were the main series’ last hurrah for the 3Ds era, it’s very possible that the second half of the SV DLC will be the last content for Pokemon on the Switch. It’s rather obvious that the console is nearing the end of its life, it’s been going on for more than 6 years at this point, and the Indigo Disk has this same air of finality that I haven’t felt since 2017. I say the franchise is about to leave the Switch behind to move on to whatever new console Nintendo has planned.

At the very least, they better not rush out the next game, dammit. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. These things need more time in the oven to be better than what GameFreak’s been cooking with. As much as I’ve had a lot of fun with my copy of Scarlet, I’m more than willing to wait a few years for another Pokemon game. No matter if it’s another generation, a new Legends game, or another remake, I much rather prefer to wait 3 or 4 years for one of these things if it means we get something among the lines of BOTW or Pikmin 4.

With that said, I’m at least ready for Indigo Disk when it drops. Me and the boys have been busy for a while.

Had I the skills I’d make a Gen III KEP FireRed hack and go all in on it. Like, go full Alternate Reality on it, be all like:

The Kanto Expansion Pak, released in 1998, is a weird little bit of Pokemon history. The worldwide success of the first generation of Pokemon games led to Game Freak making an Add-On component to the games (Primarily Red and Blue, though it usually worked with Yellow… occasional glitch aside), simply labeled “The Kanto Expansion Pak”, often abbreviated by fans as The KEP. Adding in three new types, dozens of new Pokemon (both completely original and additions to pre-existing evolutionary lines), new areas and plotlines, and for Red and Blue the added content from Yellow, by all accounts it should have been a roaring success. Critically well received and beloved by most who played it, the KEP nonetheless sold poorly. Many theories abound as to why, ranging from sabotage by disgruntled employees to shipping mishaps, but it’s most likely it was simple poor timing. By the time the KEP was released, the Game Boy had ceased being the latest of Nintendo’s products, and there were already rumors of a new generation of Pokemon games coming for the newly released Game Boy Color.

Come Gen III (Ruby and Sapphire), and with the release of Fire Red and Leaf Green, many older fans were hopeful this would allow the Kanto Expansion Pak to get the attention it deserved! Sadly, it was not to be. The Kanto Expansion Pak’s content was nowhere to be seen in the remakes, and no news of a separate product to cover said content was ever announced or even hinted at (aside from the Mew event putting Faraway Island in, much like the KEP had). It seemed Nintendo and Game Freak had, for the most part, washed their hands of this piece of Pokemon history.

A few years ago, however, a large leak revealed to truth to be quite different. In truth, Game Freak had made an attempt at a Kanto Expansion Pak remake! However, the remake had what one anonymous Nintendo employee described as “an almost comically troubled production.” As well, much like its predecessor, by the time it was ready GameFreak was ready to begin work on the next generation of Pokémon for the Nintendo DS. Unlike the original, however, GameFreak and Nintendo simply opted to never release the KEP Remake and kept it locked away.

Until now. Thanks to the recent (at the time of this writing) “Teraleak” of Pokémon Content, a mostly finished version of Kanto Expansion Pak remake has materialized! With only a bit of estimated guesswork based on notes leaked with the KEP Remake, and some good ol’ romhacking skills, The Kanto Expansion RePak is finished and ready to live again as a patch for your assuredly legally obtained copy of FireRed!

Metroid Prime 4 news: i feel like it’s been enough time since that first trailer, we’re probably gonna get more news (this was apparently confirmed in a leak?)

FE4 remake: do i even need to explain?

Tomodachi Life 2: i don’t care how unlikely it is, i will never stop waiting. it’d be a pretty good launch title too

Wii (Switch?) Sports, miis are relevant again: we had that Nintendo Switch Sports thing a while back and i remember people getting pretty heated over the miis taking a backseat, so i feel they’ll probably change course and bring them back for this one. if there’s actually a trailer there’s 100% gonna be a shot of Matt somewhere to really hype people up

S/V apparently were the best-selling games so i could see them re-releasing it and advertising slightly updated graphics + coming with all the DLC, or just having Legends ZA be a dual release for both the switch and switch 2

P3R port: the switch 2 would be powerful enough to handle it, so i could see Atlus taking the opportunity to have something at launch

Splatoon news: splatoon 2 came out the same year the switch was released, so splatoon 4 could theoretically get a teaser here. it’s either this or a new animal crossing since i’ve heard they’re by the same developers

Silksong news: look, it’s not a nintendo direct bingo card without Silksong

Sonic game: tbh just any sonic news, like it could be a trailer for that Sonic Rumble thing, sonic x shadow generations being brought over, etc etc

Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Some thoughts:

Maybe the rumors that the next Nintendo console will be backwards compatible might be true. Given that the Nintendo Switch life cycle is nearing its end, Pokemon releasing a game late into the Switch's life might not be profitable. UNLESS, the new system has backwards compatibility with Switch games. (This is similar to when Black 2 and White 2 were announced but the Nintendo 3DS is already launched)

No Johto / Unova remakes. Well, I wasn't really hoping for remakes of these regions, but the community is indeed deep in the rabbit hole. Also, kudos to the marketing team for teasing Johto music in the Presents Trailer, as well as, in the entire presentation. They know how to tease their fanbase!

No Gen 10 Pokemon games in 2025. Or this title might be the first game in the generation? Who knows?

Gen III, Complete!

That's right, we've hit another milestone and completed the polls of the lovely Pokemon of the ever beautiful Hoenn region!

As such, I'd like to take a moment to commemorate this generations...

Sultans of Smash!

(Which is just a fancy way of saying they got more "Smash" than "Pass" votes)

So, come with me as we see who's who in the world of Smashing! Our Smashables are (under the Read More because oh man this gonna take a while, especially since I couldn't help but get a bit verbose this time):

1. An oddity! Starting our list is not a Stage 3 Starter Evolution, but a Stage 2 Starter Evolution! It's Grovyle, who has presumably been (understandably) elevated by the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon fans to a respectable 58.3% Smash Rating! This gives Grovyle the honor of being the first Starter Pokemon on the list to not be a final evolution!

2. But, let us not underestimate Grovyle's evolution, Sceptile! Weighing in at a cool 60.2% Smash rating for Standard Form and 57.7% for Mega Sceptile, it seems the evolutions have done nothing to trim back this leafy lizard's appeal.

3. Bringing up our next position on the list, we have the venerable Blaziken, the first of the Fire/Fighting starters! And, it seems, a real master of smashing, with a 71.8% rating in Standard Form and a 72.5% rating as Mega Blaziken! Seems the heat of their fans' passion is very much a match for the flames of Blaziken's kicks.

4. And of course, like Kanto and Johto before this, we have the pleasure of also announcing the water starter has made it! That's right, Swampert has made waves in the world of smashing, and achieved a solid 60.6% Smash rating in Standard Form, and an even better 63.1% as Mega Swampert! Guess it's true, Anchor Arms really do make everyone love you...

5. And up next, we have everyone's favorite domesticated hyena (there's a phrase I don't think exists outside of Pokemon), Mightyena! Though seemingly mean and vicious, they're a real sweetheart when you get to know them, and judging by their 55.4% Smash rating, boy howdy have a number of y'all gotten to know Mightyena! Also, fun fact, hyenas are closer to cats than dogs genetically speaking. Another fun fact, hyenas actually have pretty similar social structures and capabilities to what the Pokedex describes of Poochyena and Mightyena! Anyways, animal behavior lesson over, lets move on!

6. I think we all saw this next one coming, as their grace, elegance, beauty, and devotion to their trainer have captivated many since the earliest days of Ruby and Sapphire's release. Gardevoir takes their rightful place among the Sultans of Smash, with a dazzling 78.6% Smash rating in Standard form and a wonderful 75.1% rating as Mega Gardevoir! It truly is lovely to see that so many of you appreciate Gardevoir as much as Gardevoir appreciates you.

7. Do you, by chance, appreciate a partner with a powerful bite? Because if so, you may have been one of the ones who helped Mawile get elected to the Sultans of Smash! While their Standard Form earned themselves a respectable 58.4% Smash rating, their Mega Evolution takes it even further! How much further? Well, how about taking it to an absolutely stunning 70.7%?! Guess that extra jaw just adds that much more to love.

8. People, it seems, appreciate a number of things. Many appreciate the fine metals that can be found here on Earth. Many appreciate monsters, big and small (especially the big ones as this next Pokemon shows). And many appreciate someone who will help the environment. So it's probably no surprise that many people really appreciate those three things put together in the form of Aggron, the metal giant monster who plants new trees in their claimed territory! At 60.7% Smashable in Standard form and an unusually lacking in decimal places 55% Smashable in Mega Evolution, it seems consensus has agreed that Aggron also has "Smashable" as an appreciable point.

9. How do you feel about roses? Because to many, there's just something about roses that gives them that certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. And it seems Roselia, the Pokemon embodying roses, has inherited that something! At 52.8%, Roselia certainly has a certain romance to them! Though, uh, like with Tentacruel, maybe keep some antidotes on hand, just in case you accidentally touch the roses and find yourself on the business end of Roselia's poison...

10. Dragons! No matter the form they take, it seems they captivate the imagination and romance of many people. And Flygon is no exception. Maybe it's their power and their always appreciated typing of Ground/Dragon. Or maybe it's those lovely greens tastefully accented with red. Whatever it is, it's gotten them a nice 59.1% Smash rating!

11. Well, seems Houndoom's no longer the only member of the "My Mega is More Smashable" club, because we have another entrant. Altaria, that fluffy bird of cotton and unexpected dragon power, has made on the list thanks to their Mega Evolution succeeding where the Standard Form failed, and achieving a 52.9% Smash rating! Guess that added fluffiness really adds something. Still, also like Houndoom, respect must be given to standard Altaria, as they got pretty close to smashable at 46.5%.

12. This next one does as their name indicates (if you know Japanese) and cuts their way through the competition to land on the list! That's right, Zangoose has achieved a 66.5% Smash rating and made a name for themselves within the Sultans. Though, there's probably a comedy to be found somewhere in the fact that a Pokemon so associated with cutting should be voted as being associated with a verb usually reserved for more blunt objects. ...No? Just to me? Darn.

13. But as near anyone can tell you, Zangoose has a rival, and no way in hell is Seviper gonna let their rival take a spot uncontested! So, having worked had to get a 51.6% smash rating, they've arrived to ensure Zangoose has to work to keep that spot of theirs! At least that's what they want you to think, but I'll let you in on a little secret: That wasn't fighting they were doing earlier. Totally and definitely unrelated note, did you know Seviper and Zangoose share egg groups? ...Also unrelated, how do you feel about walking around and hatching eggs?

14. She's beauty, she's grace, her pre-evolution's annoying as hell to find in Gen III thus preventing many from having her as their ace, it's Milotic! Considered one of the most beautiful Pokemon in world thanks to their beautiful, prismatic scales and elegant moves in the water, that impressive 77.4% Smash rating would certainly seem to back this!

15. It's said in the Hoenn region that one must be careful how they get rid of their old dolls, as a doll that feels cruelly abandoned may come back to get their vengeance. And for good reason, as nobody wants a visit from an angry Banette. ...Or at least, so you'd think, but judging by the 51.1% Smash rating in Standard form and that vastly increased 71.5% rating as Mega Banette, I'm starting to think some of y'all would abandon a doll intentionally to get a Banette to come to you. Unless... y'all are hoping to show Banettes the love they never received back before they became a ghost doll? In which case, admirable!

16. Nobody wants to be like Cassandra the Oracle. To be like Cassandra is to have nobody believe you when you foresee disaster, or worse, be blamed for it! And sadly, that's just what has happened for this Pokemon. But for you all reading this, I commend you, for according to these numbers, you've seen past the superstitions and realized that, in truth, Absol was simply trying to warn people! Indeed, between Standard Form's 77% Smash rating and Mega Absol's whopping 80.4% rating, it seems people are finally giving Absol the proper reverence they deserve, though I'm sure that beautiful white fur and excellent form doesn't hurt.

17. Bagon have always dreamed of soaring the skies, and like any good dream, with hard work and determination that comes true upon reaching their final evolution of Salamence! But what they didn't tell them was that getting there would also make them hella smashable (55.3% smashable to be precise!) Though sadly, it seems there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing", as Mega Salamence lacks they smashability of Standard Form...

18. Once again, these next two prove my point about dragons absolutely capturing the passions of many. First off, we have the sister of the two Eon Dragons, Latias! Coming in at 64.1% for Standard Form and 56.2% for Mega Latias, the smashability of this dragon cannot be understated.

19. But, let us not downplay the brother in this. Latios has also made great impacts in the world of Pokesmashing! With an even 58% rating in Standard Form and a 54.4% rating as Mega Latios, it seems this dragon won't be too far behind Latias.

20. "See this fish? I'm gonna wrestle it." These are the words of a... shall we say, well known fan of this next Pokemon. Yes, it is time for Kyogre, the leviathan of Hoenn, to take their place in the Sultans of Smash! Coming in at 51.3% Smashable in Standard Form and 52.7% Smashable after Primal Reversion, seems this fish has more than one way to make someone wet, eh?

21. But of course, much like with the rivalry of Zangoose and Seviper mentioned above, Kyogre's rival just can't let them get away with this so easily! Fortunately for their rivalry (but probably not so much for everyone else), the behemoth of Hoenn Groudon has managed to pull themselves a 54.5% Smash rating in standard form and a 51.4% after Primal Reversion, ensuring they can be there to quarrel with Kyogre again! Jeez, wish we had someone who could tell them to knock it off...

22. Oh wait, we do! More specifically, we have Rayquaza with the steel chair! OK maybe we don't have the steel chair but none the less, Rayquaza's two ratings of 71.2% (Standard Form) and 67.3% (Mega Evolution) means Rayquaza will also be here to make sure those two behave! Because otherwise, Rayquaza's gonna have to show them how Mega Rayquaza made Smogon Ubers into An Actual Tier.

23. And last, but certainly not least, we have a visitor! Where do they come from? Oh, space! Yes, our final entry into the Sultans of Smash is the first Mythical Pokemon to be available through normal gameplay, Deoxys! At four forms, all of which have been voted Smashable at 79.8% for Normal Forme and Attack Forme, 58.1% for Defense Forme, and 73.6% for Speed Forme! But, not surprising. With 5 formes, there's surely something for everyone! Also, props to the person who made the "call Speed Deoxys Amtrak the way they high speed rail" joke, that got one of the best laughs out of me in a while.
