Ongoing Series - Thai

Jack & Joker (Thai Mon IQIYI) ep 9 of 12 - I have to say it, the heist stuff is stupid and all the sidekicks are idiots to the point of annoyance. But Yin and War are truly stellar at these parts. And in general in these roles. Can’t knock 'em. It’s been a year of some very good kisses and this has to have been the best. So this show is top of the standings this week for that kiss alone. Like srs boys? I mean to say, BOYS! How dare. Breaking the internet like that.

Honestly, let's be clear, these two have had killer chemistry since the En of Love and we all expected great things. And now, here we sit, suffering great things from these kings. Thank you, Sirs, may we have another?

Love Sick 2024 (Thai Sun iQIYI) ep 8 of 15 - I'm chronicling my experience with 2024 as compared to 2014 here. The Per Win story arc never interested me in 2014 and I’m not enjoying it now either. But Mick and Ohm are better in 2024. Nong Mick is a standout character, and a brilliant glow up in this version and he’s a confident little shit (affectionate). The mains are good too, but Phun and Noh always were great characters, and these actors are quite good. Possibly better than the original. 

Kidnap (Fri YT) ep 10 of 12 - More bf era delightful diabetes. They are the best boyfriends and the cutest family in the entire world. No exceptions. Next week is definitely doom tho. 

Every You Every Me (Thai Mon Gaga) ep 5 of 10 - Talk about making consent and communication sexy! *fans self* Whoah! That was unexpectedly great. The blatancy of the lust in this one was fun too. And the general casual switch nature of the relationship = delightful.

I like the little acting course we're getting from these tw. They are both quite good. I’m not sure I really enjoy the stories that they’re telling, but I do like how they are telling them.

Fourever You (Thai Thurs YT) ep 6 of 16 - Hill is the premier torch carrier of this year. My goodness. He sure nursed that crush. While I really like this main couple, I’m happy to have some of the others start to creep into the narrative at this juncture. Alone HillTer are a bit intentionally miscommunicative and saccharine. But the screen-time distribution amongst couples seems a little strange. That said, couple 2? No thank you. I really don't like North as a character at all. I find him incredibly unappealing. Ordinarily I'd be on his side because....... blackmail trope renders Johan automatically a complete arse. But at least this is 2 unlikable characters being jerks to each other?

Perfect 10 Liners (Thai Sun YouTube?) ep 2 of 24 - Say it with me Thailand: negging is NOT romantic. Frankly, Arc is just an asshole and a bully with anger issues. But…… Yay cute sides! PondSand they funny. (Book, to me = never very funny. I don’t think comedy is his bailiwick. Look, comedy is HARD ya’ll and usually not in that way.)

Our Youth AKA Miseinen: Mijukuna Oretachi wa Bukiyo ni Shinkochu (Japan Tues Gaga) ep 1 of 11 - They’re doing some interesting stuff with the framing (both filming style and narrative) that makes this extremely old-fashioned feeling (like Takumi-kun level). I keep saying that this year, but it feels like BL is doing a lot of rediscovering its roots right now. This one even had a goldfish. And abuse. (The two, oddly, often go hand-in-hand in JBL ) And overall...... it’s a bit weird. Which I don’t mind from Japan. Japanese BL can get weird in a good way. Oh I like it. Bully meats smart loaner, total opposites attract, both are lonely and broken and NEED each other, and all that.

See Your Love (Taiwan Weds Gaga) ep 4 of 13 - Oh dear, our poor little rich boy is very broken indeed. The sides are utterly ridiculous.

My Damn Business (Korea Sat YT) eps 6 of 7 - I don’t normally like a love triangle, but I kind of like this one since it gave our uke a bit more depth and agency. And charm, quite frankly. So far he’s been a very dower character.

Eccentric Romance (Korea Weds Viki) eps 9-10 of 12 - Okay boyfriend era is a go. Goodness but they sure are adorable. 

Teenager Judge (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 7 of ? - The slow burn is really very slow. To the point of frustration. But I'm still enjoying the show, just not as much as I was.

Love is Like a Poison AKA Doku Koi: Doku mo Sugireba Koi to Naru (Japan Tues Netflix?) 8 of 10 eps - Even Japan is going through a bf era rn I see. How unusual.

Love in the Air: Koi no Yokan (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - I’m slightly less annoyed by this one than the original (but I was VERY annoyed by that). I think mame is being tempered by a few things:

There’s so much less time spent on the back-and-forth, because this is a much shorter show, so I have less time to be frustrated by it and the utter uselessness of 75% of these characters.

Also, there's that innate Japanese awkwardness of portrayal & social interaction, which makes the unpleasantness of the characters' behavior and touch more understandable.

This, in turn, is married to the natural kink factor of JBL.

There’s a clearer Dom sub from the get go with this version, makes the blackmailing a little bit more tolerable because it's clearly Play. (negotiated or not) Simply put, daddy wants his brat to beg. And honestly? So say we all.

On a completely different note, the wardrobe for this show is terrible. Like truly bad BAD.

Blue Canvas of Youthful Days (China Sun iQIYI) eps 3-4 - Well I guess that’s that disability dealt with. Meanwhile, competitive bullying art students? I am very amused. Zoo date was cute. This is unquestionably a BL (I’m even more scared now). Still, the gay boys dealing with the straight dude’s crush was truly hilarious. So much "our gay drama doesn’t have time for your het bullshit." Classy move, I smell some Taiwan in this show.

Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo (Korea Thurs Gaga) eps 4-8 end - I was reliably informed this has an HFN end so I decided to watch. Noble and self sacrificing with both of them taking the blame.

My thoughts are...... mixed.

High school student Do Hoe lives with his brutal father who runs a Taekwondo gym. When cheerful Ju Young arrives to train, they fall in love. An unexpected incident forces them apart, they reunite over a decade years later. Essentially this is a brilliant narrative about finding love at the worst possible time, surviving chronic abuse, and the way we process mental, emotional, and physical trauma overtime. Yes it’s also a romance, but that’s not primarily what this story is actually about. I can recognize its genius, but this type of narrative is not for me. I’m reminded of bittersweet painful shows like To My Star 2, or The On1y One, or even Not Me. Is this BL tangential or is it some other genre entirely? Am I questioning my own taste because I did not like its content, or because I do not like its genre? And if it’s not BL should I even render judgment? I think I have to lean into the way I approached some of those other shows, which is to say: it is not for me but I recognize that it is of an extremely high-quality that is certainly for someone else.

Recommended, but only if you like masochistic cinema. Under those circumstances 9/10

(but know that if i were rating for my personal taste? 7/10 I’m never re-watching this, and there is a small part of me that wishes I never had)

Love for Loves Sake got some kind of special supposed to air 11/9. Not sure what, why, or where. Only the rumor that it...... is. I'll believe it when I see it...... literally.

The Hidden Moon (Sat WeTV) 10 eps - I've been reliably told not to bother, so I won't.

Bad Guy My Boss (Thai Sun Gaga) 10 eps - I DNF'd at ep 7, I couldn't make it. I am weak. Life is hard enough right now, this show is making it harder. It’s not what I want from my entertainment.

Bad to Bed (Taiwan Sat YouTube) 10 eps - This is a little too low production value even for me. And just very very odd. DNF

In case you missed it

Uncle Unknown finished its run on YT. Censored Chinese BL with paralytically bad production levels. But certainly BL. Boys reunite after a break up only to discover one of them is the step-Uncle of the other. Much to my own shock and surprise I watched all 12 episodes of this. Fortunately, each episode is about 5 minutes long. Under those circumstances is it worth it? Maybe. It’s bad. But not offensive. So that's a win. And you know me, I love a weird take on the stepbrother’s trope and incest taboos. 5/20 watch it only if you have nothing better to do

I'm highly amused that Joong plays the older brother to Khao and that we have a take on the Taming of the ShrewBL. I like that everyone is morally gray. This has all GMMTV's best chemistry in one BL and some fresh concepts that I've only seen tackled in m/m romance novels (check out Amy Lane's Racing for the Sun, thank me later). I'm excited. My only quibble is Jojo, I like his style but his characters can get unreliably messy so…... this gonna be interesting.

Yep "c'est une tuerie" is mostly used when something is really good/cool (a good cakes, a great movie)

We also use "ça tue" a lot, when something is awesome, good. "Do you like my drawing?" "Wooow ça tue!!"

"T'as tué ça" also means "you did really great"! In everyday slang we use a lot of franglish so a very common one is actually "T'as dead ça" (you killed it) / "J'ai dead ça" (I did really well, I killed it) mixing French and English!

-"Trop bien, j'ai dead ça!"

I looked at this before i sat down to do french and something about j'ai dead ça is killing me. Its just the way it sounds, its too funny. Me tue...... me dead, even....... /pos

Do i have to add "ça" with me tue? Or does me tue work well enough on its own? (Im thinking from the latvian perspective, because "killing me" and "its killing me" arent too distinct in the meaning, but in english theres a difference. Some things with french are like this, its easier to understand from either the latvian or english perspective, its like building with legos lol.)

Also the exercise im doing reminded me of this: tante is written the same in french and latvian and mean the same thing :D (just pronounced differently). Quoi is pronounced the same in french and latvian and also mean the same thing, though we write it differently (ko). Im tempted to put all these words in a google spreadsheet lol

Hello stranger on the internet!

Its been a long time, but I have a valid reason to keep you waiting.

I guess.

I am going to make it really quick, I fell into the Stardew Valley rabbbit hole.

So what can I say, it might me the best thing I´ve done so far. I think I have played around 20 hours by now and I am obsessed. And it is getting worse and worse the longer I am playing.

And believe me, dear stranger on the internet, I thought hogwarts leagacy was bad.

So to just get the first impression out of my head, I wand to list a few things about the game, I really really enjoy.

The Graphics - this game is so colorful, so cute, so detailed, its everything a pixel lover could ever wish for. The different seasons gave me literal chills because they look so individual but each time just as beautiful as the last one.

The characters - please excuse me but you can ROMANCE different NPCs ?! As soon as I learned about that, I was SOLD. But apart from the marrying and romancing part. I am truly amazed by how lovingly every character is written and designed. There is someone for every player! On my part, its going to be my girl Leah. I mean, I´ve been already courting her all year. She is gorgeous, artsy and so charming. There was no question at all.

The game mechanics - as funny as this might sound but I was more than surprised about the fact that the game is as complex as it is. The farming alone is so much fun and requires so much thought and time. The fact that you can plant and harvest a rediculous amount of different crops each season, that you can choose what you personally want to plant and wich animals you want to have in your farm. It´s so much fun. Additionally, you can chop wood in the big forest and harvest stones, ores and other minerals in the mine. How cool is that? Dear stranger, i did´nt even mention the seasonal events, the friendships and in game storylines. There are countless things to discover.

The mysterious mysteries of the valley - until now, I´ve just talked about a very nice, enjoyable RPG collecting and harvesting game. Because I bought it as such. I never would have guessed that there are so many whimsical secrets to be discovered in the valley. I never would have imagined a group of charming little entities, living from the earth and hoping around in the community center. I am also very keen on finding out whats up with the grandpa shrine and the little totems wich are scattered all over the map. And I cannot believe I didnt mention that ffirst, there are literal FAIRIES flying around your farm at night. I mean, case closed!

The customization!!!! - obviously, we have to talk about the fact, that you can decorate, customize and change everything around you to you own liking. It starts with yourself, the character you want to play as. Then you can choose your farm layout, wich is so cool. For the beginning I chose the forest farm, but i honestly want to restart on the river farm or the beach farm, because they look just so cute. You can choose your pet, your friends and even your spouse as I already mentioned earlier). You can customize your farm and farmhouse and even some parts of the remaining map.

All in all, I am just enthusiastic about the game and its facets. I might be a little bit addicted already, because I already want to go back to Pelican town.

But why is it so good? For me, its a relatively easy question to answer. Stardew Valley makes it possible for me to feel like I am living the magical slow live I damn dream of every day before I wake up. The thought of getting away, living of the land and just forge your own reality just makes me incredibly happy. And again, as funny as it sounds, this game gives me enough to escape into that daydream.

So to end my little entry today, I want to come back to the prompts I tried to set for myself. So lets get into it.

my current read: "Does it hurt?" - H.D. Carlton (not even half as good as Haunting Adeline - i guess i have to get back to the second book and write about it)

my motivations: I quit my corporate job and start to work in a small cafe. Thats my own version of escape i guess.

Yes to all of that. My imagination and visuals are everything to me. My mind is always in overdrive, it's too anxious and sometimes I get hung up too bad but yeah intuition, visuals and imagery are vey much a big thing for me.

It's so funny how long this man has been chasing after the most dense tall man in history.

I love the reveal of it, too. Because throguh re-watches, you realize all of Kabru's motivations are so pure, but still kinda creepy. Cause at first you're like, okay so Kabru's team is following these guys because they stole stuff and were half tricked by the body retrievers. Because that's what the show wants you to think, basic revenge plot. Cool.

But then thoguh rewatching, you realize, oh he didn't decide to go down until they surmised there was a CHANCE it was Laios's team. Then it's like, "okay little stalker boy, get your man."

So it makes sense that Kabru didn't go in swinging when he saw their team. Even thoguh hes an expert humanoid killer, so even if Laios team were super powerful he could stand a chance. But the first watch of their "introduction" scene, your like its kinda weird. Then they just leave after learning about black magic, like nothing happened, and your like, thats a little weirder. Then Kabru says, 'don't forget me babe,' and your like that's so weird to say.

Then you learn Kabru's true motivation for following this man, and it all makes sense. I'm only at where they are in the anime, but I'm sure it makes more sense when you learn more about Kabru. And its like, "Oh you didn't try to kill him because you were trying to get this 6'1ft, strong man, blondes attention for a hot minute now. So when he offers to put something strange in your mouth, your like 'yes, daddy.' I get it."

Then when Kabru does get up to the surface, his fist thoguht is, "We have to help my- this dumb man." (He's also tue only one I've noticed call Toshiro, Toshiro.) But the first thing Kabru does is go, "Your not going to tell on my man right, Toshiro?" And Kabru relaxes when the answer is "No."

We also learn, while Kabru is a good people person, hes not a master manipulator. It could be the time he spent with Laios, a man who doesn't need you to try to manipulate him, you just gotta ask. Because hes making mistakes in the Island Lord & Elf meet and greet.

I really like this story, because it makes more sense as you learn more about the characters. I cant wait to see them join up again.

And this is the perfect example of an author who knows how to keep stuff from their audience. They have a good understanding of their worlds timeline and it shows. They also have a good understanding of their characters and it shows.

The First Friday Pity Party

First Friday in Colorado Springs is like a holiday in my mind. It is this exceptionally special night when art lovers, creators and appreciators crawl across town drinkin up the culture of our city.

This First Friday proved to be just that.

The much anticipated annual "Gratitude" show opened at Auric Gallery. After their fabulous face-lift last year, the gallery is back in its steady groove and, of course, brought this exhibition back for another round.

It's always wonderful to see familiar names in this 155-artist-lineup. I'm talking Lupita Carrassco, Suz Stovall, and the folks that have made our town so colorful for many years.

But what was really exciting for me was some fresh media from fairly new dogs on the block.

I was so pleasantly pleased to find an immersive installation by Jacqueline Moulton tucked in the back area of Auric. Moulton, while not having lived here quite as long as many of the familiar big names at Auric, has absolutely made an impacful splash.

Before I tell you about Gratitude, I gotta paint you a picture of this incredible artist.

You may find Jacqueline teaching poetry at Cottonwood, her neon red hair and expressive, funky fashion glowing through the room. She has an incredible energy that is welcoming and honestly, refreshing. She is always adorned in color every time I catch her around town. A living, breathing rainbow. Aside from her being a walking art piece, Moulton is also a professional lifter. Like weight lifter. Like buff-as-hell powerhouse. Follow her on socials if you don't believe me. She is a multi-faceted and layered character for sure, which is why I find it necessary to tell you about her before I tell you about what I saw.

Moulton's installation is entitled " The Pity Party Hotline." This manifests as a walk-in phone booth fashioned with plastic flowers, fake astroturf, and a sort of half-hearted puff of confetti.

Here, visitors can use the provided phone inside to listen to poetic readings from the artist. They touch on grief, loneliness, and being on the outside. The poems are read in a professional and lightly monotone manner.

This particular piece feels a little odd and out of sorts amongst the abstract paintings and classical media. But this is exactly what Moulton does. There's something liminal and transporting about this installation. It's the cartoonish plastic of it all. The upfront aesthics and comically straightforward style sits in opposition to the intensity of the topics you'll hear once you call in.

On the line, our operator says, "Your anguish, your sorrows, your woes are important to us"

Clinical yet reassuring.

Funny but touching.

Alot of duality is present here.

It's a lot like who I imagine Jacqueline to be.

Two vastly different things in one form.

The colorful creative

The serious athlete.

There's some poetry hiding in there.

I got alot out of my short visit inside the installation. It's refreshing to laugh about the seriousness of our delicate little hearts. It's a lonely and grief-heavy world out there, so it is nice to hear it spoken about in such a gentle way.

Week 5: Tues - Fmp

This week was the big one, the one we had been working up to for a while, the script!

ive only ever wrote one script before and i didn't like it very much, so i really took my time on this, learning how to write it out with proper direction and presentation. the main thing i wanted to convey was humor, which as the saying goes, is highly subjective. whats funny to me might not be for everyone else, so i made sure to collaborate with others to have them read it once it was done and they said they liked it and thought it was funny, so i am already feeling much better about it.

i also made quite a few changes to the outline, scenes that either didnt add anything or could be simplified were removed and i believe this helped with the flow of the script. overall i am very happy with it, while its too long to paste ill add some example pages.

i also developmed visually in this time too, redesigning the old ticket inspector character and attempting a turnaround of one of the characters, giving him a slight redesign to see if i would rather another style. i feel as though the ticket inspector redesign is very effective and i personally like it a lot more, where as i am unsure about Bailey's design. one thing i am happy with is that his wider cheeks make him seem a lot younger which is what i wanted.

another day, another run and..

i successfully tracked my macros. i ran slow and steady. i cleaned and cleaned today. i cant decide if i have too much stuff or my place is just super small.. a bit of both. i will be so glad when everyone goes home and out of the park. I keep telling myself i will bring a bag and fill it with trash.. the trash.. ughh.. the good thing is very few people go into the wood where i run so yeah for that.

i do wonder what it was about me that he hated so much. it doesnt matter right? its all the past. life goes on.. what is it about me that makes my own mother hate me? yeah im fucking scared to death of rejection.. how can i not be? i've never been loved properly.

the sleepy edibles work really well. i woke up at 5 am having slept through the whole night. i should really order more and i should l try the day time one and start taking them. i should i should i should.. i'm working tomorrow 4-8. hopefully it is a non eventful shift. I started reading a book.. funny its the exact book i peeped in the guy who's name i dont know that works out with me on tues and thurs.. i thought it was the art of war but its the navy seals art of war and its about leading teams.. basically how to be a leader. it was sitting on a shelf in the garage i work out in. I asked James if i could take it. i think its so weird that book is sitting n my house. my life is weird a lot of the time. i do think i create my own reality. some things are just too weird to be random. i have a lot to be grateful for- i really do. I am reminded by the woods that all things must change. change is good. i'm hoping something really really good comes my way as far as housing. i'm sad i missed out on the last place i looked at but hopeful there is something better waiting for me. i look at it this way.. things that dont happen arent meant for me.. what's mine will find me- i truly believe this.. whats mine will find me.

sorry i just dont buy this. first of all from having read the original comic before second of all because hes just some guy in both versions (who just happened to work for g-dir, best of the worst type deal) and third of related to the second of, it all feels like they pushed a role on him he didnt even knew existed and it all went downhill from there.

if he really was one of the catalysts of the apocalypse though rather than just being caught up in the aftermath (alongside PILOT!!!!) and omitting all that in previous POV logs for the unreliable narrator trope, then sorry tumblr sexy man that never was. i cant defend you here. you looked at yourself, said 'i can make her better' and then made her worse

number 2 also i just noticed. "infi"? miss ai generated number 8 pendant that ruined one of my favorite sequences in the original comic with 'is this a set ALMOST MISSED MY TRAIN STOP I THOUGHT WE WERE AT TUE ONE BEFORE

ok so. if i recall correctly people in too much debt get killed and turned into dexes and idk if all dexes do the same job but in pilots case he became a debt collector or something. aka kill more people to create more dexes

and in most panels of him pre apoc without the pilot gear he didnt seem too thrilled about anything, facial expression wise. what im getting to is, it could be something added in the rewrite but it would be interesting if part of his character design had a smile stapled on whether he likes it or not.

well for what its worth hes happy now, only vaguely aware of his past

anyway- svens gone but the seagull lived? i dont think this bench would know if its the same seagull. also how are you talking to it? the bench lost whatever little mind it had djhgsjfj and this is positive character development
