good time for a little reminder that this was a thing from an official interview if i'm not mistaken <3
Warning! Long ramble about Rex ahead!
I've been doing a lot of thinking about this scene. I'll try my best to organize my thoughts!
(heads up: This is operating under the assumption that (basically) everything that happens in the movies is real.)
To begin with, we gotta address the irony of this line... Like, Rex, you do realize that you're just a piece of plastic too, right? And so is Emmet?
But before I look at that, I wanna touch on the line he says right after that,
"You still wanna go back to the Matrix when you know the truth???"
Now, I haven't seen The Matrix, I'll admit to that. But because it's ingrained in pop culture, I know the gist of it.
But anyway, one obvious truth from it is that once you're aware the world is a simulation, you can never really go back completely, not without sacrifice, because you know it's not real.
Now, call me captain obvious, but by his line there, he clearly can't be referring to his time on Undar--because Emmet hadn't experienced that, nor had he understood when Rex told him about it. I'm convinced he has to be referring to the first movie, and their experience in the Realm of the Man Upstairs.
While he was there in the first movie Emmet saw his world for what it was. He saw Finn playing with Benny's spaceship, hinting at the kind of control Finn had over his world. but Emmet himself interacts with Finn himself.
As far as Emmet knows... He's different. He's not under Finn's control. All of his friends? Things made up by a giant unknown creature. But not him.
He knows the nature of his world, but is still happy to rejoin it, so long as he has a place in it...
But then came Undar.
On Undar he sees, yet again, the absolute lack of control his world has. The moment Finn leaves the picture and Bianca takes over, it's as if he never existed in the first place. He doesn't recognize his friends, because the personalities he'd come to know, literally, the people he knew, were completely gone.
It's there that he realizes that they truly are pieces of plastic.
I can't imagine how fucking lonely that must have felt. To see how little your life truly mattered in the universe, that you could be warped and changed without recognition and be none the wiser, to know who you were was as inconsequential as a thought.
As far as Rex knows, he and Emmet are the only Real ones in existence. The only ones that can retain who they are.
Rather ironic, again, when we see how much Rex changes himself.
So when he says "You still wanna go back to The Matrix?" it's more so incredulity that he, as Emmet, ever wanted to go back, that he ever put any value into the world that was nothing but an illusion.
This could also explain why Rex was so quick to turn on Emmet in Undar. Once he saw Emmet wasn't going to change, was never going to give up on his fantasy world, he had no problem seeking to destroy him. In the Realm of the Man Upstairs, knew he would live on, since he's Real. He could get rid of this failure, further cementing himself as Rex, and move on to the next timeline to try again.
It's when Lucy enters the picture and brings back Imagination that things go to shit for Rex. Outside of the Realm of the Man Upstairs they're under the giant beings' control again. What happens here is out of Rex's ability to change.
And, sure enough, Finn has him disappear.
It's just... So, so fucking sad. Can you just imagine how many nights Emmet must have lain awake during those five years, bearing the weight of his knowledge of the entire world on his shoulders? Knowing everything was an illusion?? His home, his friends, Lucy, all just the product of a child's imagination???
No wonder Emmet was able to move on so easily once Rex disappeared.
It really was easier for him to forget the nature of The Matrix and just rejoin it and be happy. Having to deal with the weight of it would crush and mangle him, the way it had Rex.
#but guys holy shit you two COOKED#also if i remember right the op from the reblog wrote ''try try again'' and sigh i miss that fic so much man it was so good#though i completely understand if the hiatus was a sudden lack of motivation cause well; happens to all of us yk#but allow me to bow my little thanks. one of the best 13 chapters ive read in my life#tlm#fanfiction#(mention)#edit#im glad were going under the assumption that what happens is real considering the whole Breakdacing Minifig bit from the first movie cause#god the sentience factor has been tearing me apart for MONTHS the movie just keeps contradicting itself#the second one i mean the first one doesnt linger on this enough for a contradiction#but if were going under that assumption then theres still questions left to answer#small ones like the whole marker debacle (how?? did lucy??? get one?? before they even FOUND the relic room????)#or bigger ones like. does the time travel happen then or#is it just finn finding his old emmet#cause THEN the assumption is that its not real technically#and while that is implied sometimes in the movie that that is the case#theres also scenes where its implied otherwise?????#that rex rlly DID travel time???? irl?????#but like if he DID then does that mean when he made the ship he knew it couldnt physically ''take off'' on its own without the kid picking#it up. so he just got in and waited for him to find the ship and think its a present or something#honestly the ''imagination returning'' bit confused me too like is it just finn and bianca finding em and rex#but wouldnt...finn and bianca KNOW of all this.... if rex shot emmet out in space....#but they dont cause theyre having a talk and packing the legos up in the meantime......#i think i need someone to sit me down and explain how they see the movie with the Real Assumption cause this has been driving me insane for#the past 9 months#it shouldnt even be an assumption cause if none of this IS real INCLUDING emmet and rex then THAT contradicts the first movie#god i need to lie down#pixie talks

Since it’s been a while since the Polls were done...
Death Battle had a Champion's Poll and the winners were Discord Vs Bill Cipher and the long requested Cole Vs Alex. But there were other matches. And since I am a Champion (it is only $5 a month), I voted for who I wanted to see as well. And I did not vote for those two matches. So which did I vote for and what were my thoughts of the other matches?
Captain America Vs Kamen Rider Ichigo
I do think Captain America does need a return match. His match was an early research and we can do a much better job now. Imagine what sort of feats we could find now with a dedicated researcher on the job. As for Kamen Rider Ichigo, I do not know a lot about Kamen Rider. I know a lot of people enjoy the series and it would be cool to see their favorite series get the Death Battle treatment.
Among Us Vs Fall Guys
The idea is such a fun one that I am still surprised it didn't win. It would have been pretty interesting to figure out the research behind this. Though I don't think we'll be doing this in the future unless one of the two sponsors us or if the polls return and this gets back on and wins.
Kyle Rayner Vs Simon the Digger
I'm a researcher of Green Lantern and Gurren Lagann is an excellent series. I would definitely be the researcher in this match thanks to my previous Lantern work. What shocked me was the fact this didn't win either considering all the support I've seen of this match.
Ori Vs the Knight
I never played either, but the idea looks fun. Two indie platformers of varying styles and ideologies. It would have probably looked really good too.
Finn and Jake Vs Mordecai and Rigby
This is the match I voted for. For me, this is one of the big Cartoon Vs Cartoon fights. Adventure Time and Regular Show are sort of sister series. They have a unique style, wacky adventures and expect you to take things at face value. They even crossed over in comics. So having the two duos fight each other is one a long time coming. I get the feeling regardless of it losing, we'll be seeing this fight sometime in the future.
Kratos Vs Asura
Kratos is another one who could use a comeback. It was a Season 1 fight after all. And since then, he's in a whole new territory dealing with a completely different pantheon and new abilities. Meanwhile Asura is an obscure choice but an excellent one for Death Battle. His game is basically Quicktime City so we can see all sorts of feats thanks to them being more visual than gameplay. This could be a great fight.
Steve Vs Emmet
In case you couldn't tell, I enjoy Lego and other Interlocking Bricks. So I would have been glad to see Emmet enter. And Steve makes a lot of sense since Minecraft has a big history with Lego. If we could get Edbound to make this into an animation for Death Battle I think it would be better than a 3D one.
King Ghidorah Vs Deathwing (WoW)
It makes sense for Godzilla’s greatest rival (depending on who you ask) to be in Death Battle. But I don’t know about World of Warcraft to give a good idea on how this fight could be. But giant lizards fighting each other should be a no brainer.
Illidan (WoW) Vs Xiao (Genshin Impact)
Remember when I said I don’t know much about World of Warcraft? Same for Genshin Impact. All I know is they beat Sonic in the Fan Polls at the Game Awards and apparently a small 1000 year old girl is joked about being spare food in the same way Team Four Star’s Goku treats Icarus in the Cooler movie. But just because I don’t know either doesn’t mean it can’t be a great Death Battle. Look at Sauron and the Lich King.
Spy Vs Agent 47
So both of my votes were the last ones listed. Weird. Anyway, Team Fortress 2 is a great series and I wish it won their only match so far. And I think Spy could do it. Agent 47 is most impressive, but I think Spy could give him a run for his money and even win. But I haven’t played Hitman so this is likely biased. But man, I got to get back into playing TF2.
And those are my thoughts on the poll choices. I could reveal exactly how close my votes got to winning, but I don’t think it’s fair for those who don’t know how their votes are. Not to mention Death Battle didn’t reveal the results for a reason. And who am I to break that reason?

The cause, the kid, the course, the charm, and the curse!
I did threaten to write this. Here's Rex's trial and sentencing. It's under a read more because it's so damn long.
He was found fairly quickly by one of the members of the Assembly of Master Builders as he was trying to access his ship. The reports from Emmet and Lucy stated that Dangervest was not supposed to be a problem anymore. Why was here now? Oh well. This just created a new problem: what to do with such a destructive man.
The first thing the Assembly did was lock him in a makeshift prison, built by the best Builders be impenetrable and unbreakable. It was guarded 24/7 by the strongest figs they could find. There were some objections, of course; some arguments that they didn't do this to Lord Business. But Rex was a wild card, dangerous and unhinged. It was easy to silence the naysayers.
Rex could have called Emmet at any time during his incarceration. He didn't want to. He couldn't face him, not like this. He barely wanted to face him in the laundry room the day he came back. You couldn't expect Rex to want Emmet to see him under lock and key like this, curled up in a corner and waiting for... what? Final judgement?
That judgement came soon enough. He was soon taken by a Friends and Duplo guard to a rebuilt and very sparkly dog dome. His face fell when he saw the place, memories of the last time he met the Master Builders in that building hitting him like a crushing wave.
He was pushed to the center of the circular room and he could almost feel the Piece of Resistance on his back again. The gazes of the other Master Builders felt more cutting now, though. It was Abraham Lincoln who spoke first, his voice barely cutting through Rex's memories.
"Rex Dangervest. You stand accused of starting Ourmommageddeon and nearly destroying the world as we know it. How do you plea?"
Why bother with this fake courtroom posturing? Rex took a slow breath, finally digging himself out of his thoughts.
"Why don't you answer that, big guy? Ya clearly know the answer." His tone was defensive and defiant but there was an underlying fear mixed in. This reply earned a volley of offended whispers from the gathered Builders.
"Answer the question, Dangervest! How do you plea to the charges?" Rex couldn't be sure who shouted that, but it really didn't matter to him. This was all clearly a game. Someone up there was introduced to the courtroom dramas Finn and Bianca's mother occasionally snuck downstairs to watch.
"I'm not gonna plea anythin'. What are ya gonna do? Make me?" He kept his tone defiant as she scanned for familiar faces. Soon, his eyes fell on Benny. The one person last time who was willing to vouch for him. This time, though... He could tell the other was disappointed. Benny didn't even know who he really was and he looked so heartbreakingly disappointed in him.
"We can so make you, Dangervest." A different voice spoke, this one from someone he didn't recognize at all. Clearly, they were already letting Systarians in. Others chimed in with demands for Rex to make a plea.
"Fine. I'll play your little game. Guilty. You an' I both know I started it. Woulda finished it, too." He kept his tone flat, despite the feeling of guilt that threatened to choke him out from his throat. He was, to his credit, a good actor. More whispers from the Assembly. More heartbreak when he turned to look at Benny.
"Even the accused admits to his part in Ourmommageddeon. Is there more we need to do here?" Gandalf's voice made Rex's eye twitch. Did he always sound so damn pompous?
"Yes!" The voice of his former spaceman friend chimed in. "Shouldn't he give us his side?" The color found its way to Rex's face. Once again, Benny came to his defense. Even if the spaceman didn't know who he was.
"Intent means nothing here. He started Ourmommageddeon! That's a big deal!" Damn you, Abraham Lincoln.
"We gave President Business a second chance and he tried to Kragle us! How is that better than the Bin of Storaj?" Rex again couldn't place who said that. His focus was mainly on Benny and Gandalf.
"Because we say so, that's why!" Gandalf banged his staff against the floor, like that helped solidify his authority. The old man seemed unmoved.
"Aw, come on! Let him speak!" Benny pleaded, the voice of mercy in this kangaroo court.
"Alright, Dangervest. Speak on your behalf. "
Rex could feel everyone's eyes on him. He had their attention and took full advantage, painting the picture as vividly as he could. He held nothing back and, by the end, was shaking. He didn't like being outed like this, but there wasn't much of a choice here. Maybe the truth would grant him leniency. When his story was done, he was sent away with two different guards back to his cell, waiting for the punishment for his crimes.
The next week felt too long and too fast at the same time. He was present for every testimony, every nail in his coffin. Each person's side, depicting the ripple effects of Rex's rage induced actions made the Matrix he was dragged into feel more real. To him, it was all NPCs crying for justice, all of them imaginary pawns in a teenager's...tween's?... maybe both?... mental court of opinion. But the more the trial dragged on, the more he had to answer to his crimes, the more real it all felt. He felt weaker with each story of rebuilding after his shot against their gods. Not even this fact helped keep him from finally breaking down at the last day of testimony. He was glad Emmet wasn't there. He couldn't see Rex like this, looking so weak.
----------
He couldn't sleep so he attempted to connect to the Man Upstairs. Maybe if he did that, he could bend the verdict to his favor. He sat in his corner and closed his eyes, doing his best to clear his mind. It used to be so easy! Why couldn't he clear...
His mind. After what felt like a decade, it was empty enough that he could see into the other side of the veil between worlds. What he saw, though, was not what he expected.
He saw a woman's face. She had dark hair that was the length and style of his own, but with blue and pink highlights in the bangs like his former girlfriend. She didn't notice him as she checked her phone. "There. Never thought I'd be installing this again." She threw on some headphones and bounced her head to an unheard song. She soon started singing.
"Because the Hook brings you back! I ain't tellin' you no lie!"
Before he could register the song, he was pulled out of the vision by the guards. Who was that girl? She wasn't Finn or Bianca. Didn't matter. He had bigger things to think about.
He was soon at the dog dome one last time. Rex felt sick from worry, but he kept his composure. He scanned the stands where his former peers sat, trying to read his fate on their faces but couldn't.
"Rex Dangervest, we have heard testimony from the people of Syspocalypstar about what chaos your crimes have wrought. Are you expecting mercy from this court?" Gandalf seemed particularly melodramatic today.
Rex shrugged. "You can do whatever ya wanna. I'm not expectin' nothin'." He sounded as weak as he felt. Just get this over with.
"We have taken your tale into consideration, however we do need to make sure you really have learned your lesson. You are to help rebuild the Downstairs Realms to the way they were before untill such a day as this Assembly believes your debt to society has been paid. We will assign you to a new place every month. If you are to move away from your current residence, we must be informed. Is this understood, Rex Dangervest?" Abraham Lincoln read this sentence from an official looking scroll.
Rex felt a little relief. "Yeah. That works for me."

✧༺♥༻∞ All righty! I’m not sure how many of these would make a good roleplay ‘verse, but I’ve just been going over the old AUs I’ve made over this past year and a half and picked some favorites. Thanks for being willing to listen to my rambling! ∞༺♥༻✧
✧༺♥༻∞ My personal favorite AU I’ve come up with is a Superhero AU, where Emmet runs a repair shop in Bricksburg. People come to him whenever they have stuff to fix, be it furniture, technology, a relationship... Everyone trusts him, but no one really knows him. He’s just the nice guy they go to for help. Lucy is a superhero, and Rex is a villain that the public sympathizes with. Both he and Lucy go to Emmet, either as their alter ego or otherwise, to get him to fix stuff broken during their fights. It’s kinda fun to picture Emmet as the middleman between those two. Also maybe getting powers of his own and having to pick a side...
I think that’s the only one I’m gonna go into detail about, since this post is already getting long, so uh...!
I also got a few AUs where Emmet ends up in the Systar System! One where he never gets sent back by Finn on TAKOS Tuesday, instead being picked up by baby Bianca, where he becomes king instead of Watevra; one where Mayhem takes only him back instead of the other Master Builders, causing a lot of craziness. Also have an MLP AU, though that one was mainly just having fun with designs; there’s an AU where Lucy successfully finds the Piece of Resistance, and Emmet, who witnessed it happen, is caught up in the insanity... That’s all the ones I’ve been thinking about today! ∞༺♥༻✧

More Lego/Borrower doodles. I didn’t want to keep drawing myself, so I just made up a random new Borrower. She looks a little too old in the non lego style sketch though. I just wanted to draw some slightly different features than I usually do. She doesn’t have a name yet.
Someone on DA who saw my other pictures suggested that maybe Finn sees the Borrower when she returns Emmet, and he’s obviously shocked and curious, but she gets away.
He keeps looking, but can’t find her again (for a while, I dunno how long) so he starts incorporating the idea of this tiny person into his games. So there would be a version of the borrower in the game world, and meanwhile the real world the Borrower is just watching bewildered as one of her beans starts making up these adventure stories about her, and it’s really sweet? Kind of weird, but sweet? It might be enough to coax her out one night to actually talk to him.
And I dunno, it just sounds super cute and kind of different, as far as Gt or borrower stories go.
I don’t know what Rex is doing or what world he’s in, but I like to pretend he’s still around and probably up to something.
What do you think?

What Measure is a Villain: Analyzing Rex Dangervest of the Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (aka, the research paper I did for my English final this year)
The 2019 animated film, The LEGO Movie 2: The second part, is a PG rated movie about Siblings, Miscommunication, A Shape-Shifting Queen, and of course, LEGOs. Many of the main characters from the first movie return in this sequel, including Emmet Brickowski, Wyldstyle, also knowns as Lucy, and Batman. The sequel also introduces new characters, such as Queen Waterva Wa’nabi, the Queen of the Systar System, Rex Dangervest, a Time Traveling, Raptor training, intergalactic hero, and General Sweet Mayhem, Queen Watevra’s 2nd in command. The story starts right after the events of the first movie, with Finn’s dad telling him that his sister is aloud to play downstairs with him now that he’s aloud to play there. From there we go back into the world of Finn’s LEGOs, where Finn’s sister, Bianca’s, LEGO DUPLOs, have begun to invade Bricksburg. Emmet tries to offer them a gift of a LEGO heart, but they destroy it. 5 years later, and what was once known as Bricksberg is now known as Apocolypseburg. For the last 5 years, Apocolyseberg and “The Systar System” have been at war. Everyone has gotten tougher. Everyone, except for Emmet. He’s exactly the same as before, happy and cheerful, no matter what chaos is happening around him. General Mayhem comes to find 5 Apocolypsebergers to bring to the Queen’s ceremony, and because of Emmet she is able to do that. She takes Wyldstyle, Batman, Unikitty and Benny to the Systar System with her, leaving Emmet alone with nobody but the other apocolypsebugers who hate him for letting this happen. He decides to go to the systar system to save his friends on his own, and builds a spaceship so he can do so. This spaceship almost crashes into what Emmet calls a “Glasstroid”, but is saved by an unknown minifigure before it can. This unknown minifigure is named Rex Dangervest, a "Galaxy defending archaeologist, cowboy, and raptor trainer”, who takes Emmet aboard his much bigger spaceship to help him save his friends. Meanwhile, Queen Watevera Wa’Nabi, the shapeshifting Queen of the Systar System, is trying to prepare the Apocolypseburgers she had General Mayhem get for her wedding ceremony between her and Batman. Batman, for the record, never actually agreed to this. Everyone trusts her except for Wyldstyle, who is still skeptical of this whole thing. Emmet and Wyldstyle get reunited and attempt to stop the ceremony together, but get split up by Rex. Wyldstyle learns the truth about the Systarians and their inventions, and that they’re just really bad communicators. She tries to stop Emmet from stopping the ceremony, but is too late and ends up causing the end of both The Systar System and Apocolypseburg by doing so. But, with the power of Master Building, the Systarians and Apocoplysebergers are able to unite, much like Finn and Bianca are, and work together to build a new world, known as Syspocalypse Star.
Rex Dangervest, the one of the characters from the movie, The LEGO Movie 2: the Second Part, is displayed as the antagonist character towards the end of the movie, however, this does not make him the antagonist. Rex, also known as Radical Emmet Xtreme, is a version of the main protagonist of the movie, Emmet Brickowski, from an alternate timeline, in which his friends all get captured by General Sweet Mayhem, and in an attempt to rescue them, he hits an asteroid, causing him to fall under a clothes dryer and stay there for a number of years, hopeless. Scared. Unknowing of what became of his friends. This changes him. He starts by changing his name from Emmet Brickowski to Rex, which, as mentioned before, stands for Radical Emmet Xtreme. Then he gets the strength to move in the real world - our world. Emmet is the only minifigure who is able to do this, and it is never explained how. After gaining the strength to move around and walk, he goes and finds new clothes, hair, and even uses a sharpie to change his face. He creates a time traveling spaceship using pieces of other time traveling devices from pop culture, including the TARDIS and the DeLorean, in LEGO form, and goes back to the prehistoric era to get a crew of raptors to help him with his ship, before going to the second before his ship crashed, and saving his past self’s life. Rex and Emmet then explore the Systar System together, looking for Emmet’s friends, specifically Lucy. Along the way they find the Justice League, who have been “brainwashed” into thinking the Systarians are good and even trying to “brainwash” Emmet and Rex. They eventually find Lucy, who joins them in their quest to destroy the ceremony the queen is having, but, after finding out the truth about the ceremonies true intentions, decides not to. Because of this, Emmet thinks that Lucy has also been brainwashed. He and Rex go through with their plan to destroy the ceremony, which also causes “our-momma-gedden”, which was a nightmare Emmet had about essentially the end of the world. Everyone from Apocolypseburg and the Systar System besides Emmet, Rex and the raptors got sucked into black holes. This is when Rex finally tells Emmet the truth about who he really is. Emmet, being Emmet, doesn’t listen to Rex’s backstory, besides the part where he says that he’s Emmet from the future. Emmet realizes what he and Rex did was wrong and wants to try to find a way to fix everything, but Rex, not expecting this outcome, throws Emmet under the dryer so he can feel how Rex felt. Luckily, Lucy comes to save him, having teamed up with the systarians to build their way out of the “black hole”. Emmet, now being with Lucy, has chosen to go down a different path in his life then becoming like Rex, and therefore, Rex ceases to exist. Throughout the movie, he goes from being a protagonist who wants to help Emmet find Lucy, to an antagonist who almost tries to kill Emmet. However, his actions are justified because he thinks this is the only way to fix what happened in his timeline, He wants his timeline’s version of Lucy back, and he doesn’t understand what’s going on, because it’s never explained to him.
Rex’s actions are justified because he believes that this is the only way to fix what happened in his timeline. He believes this because it’s the only thing he can believe. He has no other ideas for how to get his timeline back to how it is supposed to be, and this is his one shot to getting what he thinks will fix it. When he was under the dryer he was scared and alone. He had to give up what made him himself. He had no idea what the systarians did to his friends, or Lucy, and he needed to get them back no matter what. It is currently unknown how long he spent under the dryer, but it is assumed it was a matter of years before he could actually get the strength to move in the “real world”. That’s a lot of time to be alone with nothing but your own thoughts. In a way, the loneliness probably made him crazy in some way. It wasn’t his fault everyone forgot about him, which turned him from Emmet into Rex.
Another reason his actions are justified is because he wants his version of Lucy back. Lucy means everything to him, an example of this would be how in the beginning of the movie Lucy is trying to make Emmet be tough but he can’t because he’s so excited to see her. He sees her every day, but she makes him happy. You could say she’s the only thing that was keeping him happy in Apocalpyseburg. Out of all his friends, at some point in the movie Emmet calls Lucy his “Super Special Best Friend” which is, as confirmed later in the movie during the wedding scene, basically saying they’re married. After everything that happened in the first movie with Lucy and his other friends, he really cares about them, and spending 5 years fighting in a war together didn’t change that. Especially if he and Lucy are married, which might just be fan speculation, but could be canon to the story. He was also alone under the dryer for so long, probably thinking about her. However, when he sees Emmet’s timeline’s version of her, he doesn’t like her. He probably spent a lot of time thinking about what Lucy would think about him when he came back, and none of it was good, or he knew that this version of Lucy didn’t know him and only liked Emmet from that timeline, and she would never like him, no matter how much he was the him she wanted him to be.
The final reason Rex’s actions are justified is that he does not understand what is going on with the Systar System and it is never explained to him, or anyone in Apocalpyseburg for that matter. Nobody came back for him after all those years, and he was left to slowly decompose under the dryer. Once he actually goes back to the past to find all the systarians, including the justice league and his old friends happy and sparkly, he assumes that they’ve all been brainwashed. He doesn’t even trust Lucy, who could be his wife, when he sees that her hair isn’t naturally black, it’s blue and pink. To quote Rex, “you can’t wash a brain without washing the hair on top of it.”.
In conclusion, Rex might be the antagonist of the story, but his actions are justified. Nobody deserves what happened to Rex, and sometimes fixations and unreasonable actions can be justified by a lot of bad stuff happening to the person, or, minifigure, for that matter.

what’s UP it’s time for a PROMO POST !!! reblogs are great!
Who is this?
I’m Carter! I’m also called Terry; my full name is Carter Terry [lastname redacted]! I’m 24, autistic, nonbinary (they/them pronouns), and I’m a writer! I write a LOT of lego fanfiction, a little bit of other fanfiction, and some original stuff!
my ao3 profile can be found here, under mattecat. my website, Dream or Decay, can be found here!
I wrote forgetting the coin for the ferryman, a lego ninjago fic where Morro is inexplicably resurrected and is sent to live with Cyrus Borg, back in January-February 2018. I also write Piece of Rebellion back in 2014, a lego movie fic where Good Cop and Bad Cop find the Piece of Resistance. I write a lot of other stuff, too! check out my ao3!
What is this?
I’m making a little post to promote the best of my writing, fanfic and original, and talk a little bit about each project.
Why is this?
I want to compile links to my works & ways to support me in one, convenient location, plus have something for people to reblog if they want to share my writing.
THE READ MORE TAG BROKE THE POST, SO NOW THIS IS JUST A REALLY LONG POST, SORRY
Support Me!
there are a couple of ways to support me and my writing, both financially and otherwise.
for a non-financial way, what would help me the most right now is to sign up to be my check-in buddy. basically, I’d tell you my deadlines and check-in dates for finishing chapters or short stories of a project, and you’d hold me to them. on the check-in dates, I’d send you my progress so far, and if I miss a check-in or deadline, you’d send me a reminder message. that’s it! no beta-reading, nothing like that, just keep me focused on my work! fill out this form if you’re interested! (or message me if the link isn’t working!)
for the financial ways, I have a patreon I’ve been working to revamp, and a ko-fi for one-time donations. support either way is greatly appreciated!
other than that, just commenting on my stories is a wonderful way to support me, as well as reblogging & sharing them. I’m grateful all the support I get!
Original Projects
my two original projects can be found on my website; Calamity and Gold Towns.
Calamity is a collection of creative works about humans living in a world recreated by deities after the old world was destroyed.
Gold Towns is the story of Prosper and his two friends, Billy (a girl) and Ruben (a boy), as they search for Prosper’s sister, Goldie, and the Golden Land she was searching for.
the first chapter of Gold Towns can be read on my website, while Calamity is still in the very early stages.
Completed Fanfics
forgetting the coin for the ferryman is probably the piece I’m most proud of. as said, it’s a lego ninjago fic about Morro. Lloyd resurrects him, but he can’t stay with the ninja, due to them hating each other, so Wu calls Cyrus Borg to take him in. Cyrus grows attached to the sad teenager, and does his best to take care of him – but the Cursed Realm is calling, and Lloyd’s attempt to give Morro a second chance doesn’t go as planned. PLEASE heed the content warnings!
A Piece of Rebellion was the first novel I completed, about a lego movie AU where Good Cop and Bad Cop find the Piece of Resistance instead of Emmet. the cops become the Special, and their loyalty to Lord Business is tested.
Better Than They Were is a lego ninjago movieverse oneshot I wrote about Garmadon and Koko when they visit Garmadon’s parents’ house with a baby Lloyd. I’m pretty proud of it, so I’m linking it here.
Swamp Creature is a lego ninjago fic where a baby calls Krux a cuck. that’s all you need to know.
other completed fics include: in the lego fandom, a commissioned fic where I ship cyrus borg with a trans lady acronix, a stream-of-consciousness lego movie fic about Finn and the Man Upstairs, a lego ninjago movie fic about Lloyd meeting his friends, and a short Morro fic I wrote because I was sad; in the pokémon fandom, we have a quick Tabitha/Maxie fic where Maxie has a panic attack; and in the steven universe fandom, we have a quick amedot fic where Amethyst and Peridot have a sleepover.
Fanfics in Progress (I have a lot of these haha)
bridging the gap is the sequel to forgetting the coin, set on the Day of the Departed, and featuring the coinverse version of canon events. it should be pretty close to being done? a few more chapters, I hope.
Green Ninja is another lego movie AU where Heidi and Brett Cop (GCBC’s parents) find a young boy called Lloyd alone on the street. when they try to help him, they find themselves pulled into the Master Builder underground, and realize that their sons’ job with President Business is not what it seemed.
Dilara is a lego ninjago fic where Nya, tormented by dreams where she’s Nadakhan’s dead girlfriend, leaves the ninja to stop these dreams and find out what she’s been wondering all this time: who was Dilara?
planting the pomegranate seeds is a lego ninjago crossover between me & my bro’s AUs; coinverse & illusionist. a young Ronin tries to go to the Cursed Realm to find his brother and finds himself in an alternate universe with someone who looks, sounds, and acts like his brother – but Wu told him Morro was dead, and this Morro is alive.
Gnosia Stella Coronae is a pokémon fic with a latin title that means nothing. Rebecca is a member of Team Magma, and while the team is struggling to hold itself together after the Groudon and Kyogre incident, she’s kidnapped by Giratina for reasons beyond her understanding; all she wants is for her and the people she cares about to make it out alive.
Other WIPS include: in the steven universe fandom, an outdated peridot redemption au fic and a ronlars ghostbusters crossover; in the lego fandom, a sequel to Piece of Rebellion set after the events of the lego batman movie, and a lego ninjago movie au where Garmadon is a good dad.
that’s all! thank you for reading this far, and I hope you have a good day!

How can Chase McCain see the Thestrals?
I just had myself in a edit banned because of this topic in the Headscratchers page in LEGO Dimensions (well more of my bad spelling really, but it still count).
For those who don’t know. Thestrals are winged horses with a skeletal body that can be only been seen by anybody whom has witnessed death.
Now in Lego Dimensions in the Harry Potter adventure world they is a Quest by Luna Lovegood to find the Three Thestrals. You needed a character with Relic Detector to as they are hiding the purple spotted clouds. So that starter pack Wyldstyle, Bad Cop and Now Chase McCain.
Now the thing is Wyldstyle, Bad Cop has a good reason to seen the Thestrals they has seen Vitruvius die. In the LEGO Movie. But Chase he has no reason even see them, unless he has witnessed death outside of LEGO City Undercover.
But the thing is, if they can Detected the Thestrals because has witnessed death then what about the other character that can’t use Relic Detector but has witnessed death?
1st, The LEGO Movie’s character, Emmet, Benny, Unikitty, even LEGO Batman as too witnessed Vitruvius's death. And you don’t seen them having the Relic Detector not even of the Quest itself. The Harry Potter’s character, Harry is the one that saw the Thestrals in the book and flim, Voldy has killed for Seven’s Horcruxes and Hermione... well it unknown to me if she witnessed death. Unless killing some bad guy in wizard war would count. But then again they don’t detected the Thestrals.
Let taken even fever, DC’s Batman, his death of his parents is the driving force and maybe the death of 2nd robin Jason Todd (beside he came back the Red Hood) would count. Wonder Woman is debatable, so is Cyborg, Superman, and Aquaman. But I could say The Joker, Harley and Bane not only witnessed death but may has they hand to killed. Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli has taken into war and Gollum kill someone for his Precious.
And I could go on who could or couldn’t has witnessed death. But it wouldn’t matter because that is NOT the reason why Wyldstyle, Bad Cop and Chase McCain can Detected the Thestrals. No. It Not. Deep down it the devices they has it what making them Detected the Thestrals and Making them Visible. It has nothing to do if they witnessed death. Hell after one of three make them Visible and switch to any other they stay Visible. They don’t become invisible again.
Hell if you want fever proof. Chase McCain only has Relic Detector when he a Police Officer. Not as Fireman, Construction Worker, Farmer, Miner nor as an Astronaut. This is something that he has as a Police Officer. You know what he has an Police Officer? His Data Scanner. A devices!
In fact, as I edit this, Let talk about Wyldstyle, she had the same devices that she use to hunt for the Piece of Resistance before Emmet stumble into it and glue into his back. It clear that is the same devices in LEGO Dimensions or we wouldn’t had that ability for her. We don’t know what it really does other then Detecting things. We don’t know what kind of Technology this devices is made from (beside LEGO and the imagination of a 7 and half year old Finn) but it clear it can detecting plot and object, Still she had this before Vitruvius die.

Lego-Borrower AU side B
Shortly after sorting things out with his sister, Finn heads into the basement to start work on rebuilding Apocalypseberg, only to find a tiny person apparently returning his lost Emmet Minifigure. She freaks out and runs away before he has the chance to stop her, or assure her he’s not going to hurt her. Maybe he’s going nuts, but after that point he sometimes thinks he catches glimpses of her out of the corner of his eye.
He tries doing some research online to see if he can figure out what she is, but he’s pretty sure she’s not a fairy or leprechaun or whatever. The closest thing he can find is some old kids books about tiny people living in the walls. He starts thinking of her as a borrower. He tries and tries, but can’t find her again. So, he does what he does best. First, he makes a new, tiny figure (He strikes me as the sort who likes modding things) and places it just outside of Emmet and Lucy’s house.
He can’t find the real Borrower. Can’t talk to her, help her out or keep her safe. Not while she’s scared and hiding. But in the game at least he can pretend. Maybe she’ll hear the new story. Maybe he can communicate to her that he doesn’t mean any harm. That he just wants to be friends.
-
Inside the game world, Susan doesn’t understand what’s happening. She’s lived her whole life hiding in the walls of Finns house, but now she’s trapped in a vaguely familiar wasteland? There’s a lot of abandoned stuff, which is great for making tools and shelter, but there isn’t any food. Nothing growing and no humans to borrow from. She’s able to collect rainwater, but she’s been starving for days when she finds the house. A super bright, cheerful, pristine little house just sitting there in the middle of nowhere. Her stomach overrides her unease and she decides to investigate. Maybe she can snag something from the kitchen garbage or something? Long story short, she gets found by Emmet and Unikitty (Lucy is still in bed). Emmet instantly recognizes her as the super nice giant lady who saved him weeks ago! He is ecstatic to see her again and can’t wait to introduce her to all of his friends! Unikitty thinks Susan is A-DOR-A-BLE! Susan is confused and terrified, and apologizes tearfully for coming into the house! Please don’t hurt her!
When she lets slip the reason she even dared to sneak in, Emmet is horrified! and immediately makes a huge breakfast feast for all of them to share. It’s more food than Susan has ever seen in her life. Maybe... Maybe Emmet wasn’t so scary after all.
That’s all I’ve got so far. Just a few ideas for tooth rottingly fluffy oneshots after that. =p
