the books have been put away

i still need to bring three boxes of them downstairs but the rest are either on the shelves or in the stack of boxes for my dads books (if you thought me sorting the books in vic was a nightmare he Still has 12 more boxes of them here, 10 of which I already put in LOC order two years ago)

im having my tea break and then im going to sort out supper but omg. the last time these books were in order was 2005 and we have technically moved 2-3 times since then, and they hadn’t been in order for almost two decades. holy shit.

what to do with them now that they are in small manageable categories is still beyond me but you know, they are there to be retrieved should anyone need them. The rest are upstairs and already visible even though they are uncatalogued, so that’s nice!

Playoffs season in Edmonton means a dramatic increase in orange creamsicle flavoured ice cream, doughnuts, etc (and honourable shout out to Duchess for having blueberry apricot macarons). This works for me, I loooove orange creamsicle. I should go out and sample some asap and figure out which is the best.

But what about Canucks flavoured things? I've only seen one so out of Victoria (and made by ex-pat Edmonton-area folks to boot) andddd it's just vanilla. Poor Van can't shake the No Fun City stereotype yet. Has anyone seen any interesting team flavours this year?

i had this comic in mind for the past couple months and only just now got around to executing it haha. edmonton is always covered in gravel and sand left behind after the snow and ice melts in march and april before street sweeping begins, an annual condition that victoria basically never experiences ever. if we're lucky, we might even see a daffodil or two before may!

The ‘Book of Revolution’ was produced by Constable Albert H. Keeler, of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who in 1930 became a member of the Edmonton Communist Party. He obtained possession of the “Red Bible,’ Communistic literature and many secrets of the organization, he said. For months, Keeler gathered literature and many secrets of the organization, attended meetings regularly, and had every opportunity to investigate the campaign plans of the Communist Party, as directed from Moscow.

Marches Planned VICTORIA, Jan. 8. (C.P.) - ‘Hunger marches’ on Ottawa and every provincial capital, backed by ‘demands’ for non-contributory unemployment insurance, are planned by Communist organizations in Canada as part of a nation-wide demonstration timed for Jan. 17, according to advices receive by British Columbia Government authorities here.

Attempts will be made to stage a series of demonstrations from Halifax to Victoria simultaneously, in connection with a ‘hunger march’ on the Dominion Capital.

since i've been stuck wasting time anyway trying to recover from my ills, I decided to summarize all the local district and mayoral candidates for the upcoming HRM election for the entertainment of my pals and it's been a good way to learn what the major concerns of the city are at this moment in time (as well as which of these guys has no idea what municipal government does). I've been combining local insights with my own observations from walking around downtown and toodling all around and while i'm obviously not like, an expert, I definitely have a lot of thoughts and feelings about it.

and i feel like Halifax woke up one morning in the past 5 years to the possibility of suddenly being a Real City (tm) with Real City problems and now is like "Heehee, i'm just going to Do My Best!" [does everything the same and still surprised its a struggle] "Okay, I'm going to Try Something New!" [tries to make an app to solve things, which doesn't] "Its too bad no one in the entire world has ever gone through what I'm going through :'( (but i stay silly!)"

Well, it's official, I will be on my way back home to Edmonton pretty soon. In the meantime I've been once again amazed at the differences in photos I've been taking and ones from back home, it's a juxtaposition I think about often.
