really really sorry for being a toxic inniter in your askbox but i saw "c!Tommy isn't the main character" discourse earlier today and i'm always kinda confused by that. bc like the server doesn't revolve around him but there's a difference between the whole server and like. different arcs. bc objectively sometimes he is. Bad was the MC of the Eggpire arc. Tommy and Wilbur were some of the MCs of l'Manberg and Pogtopia. Quackity was the MC of Las Nevadas. Tommy and Dream were the main characters of the Exile and Prison arcs. if Tommy was either a key player or a catalyst to some of the biggest parts of every single season, why do ppl act like we're spitting on their favs when we call him a main character. maybe it's cause he and his close friends fucking wrote that shit

Main character discourse is so funny because like every actual c!inniter I’ve ever interetracted with says it as a joke and then I just see people fucking malding over it like… brother the fact that there isn’t a definitive main character is one of the things that makes the smp so interesting stop swinging at demons 😭

I'm still so mad Puffy got forever fridged when the premise for her being egged was actually fucking interesting. Also yeah, by smaller arcs/streamers, definately. The egg lore was pretty much the defacto 'background plot' with so little tie in to other events narratively, specifically with any other plot effecting the egg's, that it might as well be two seperate fandoms. And that's just the biggest one! Michael's radio lore, Puffy's bit with her captain's curse, the original eight lore stream that was supposed to have an Alyssa cameo or something, The syndicate (oh god the syndicate)... Also trying to find egg arc fiction was and still is hell because people would tag it in their benchtrio superhero au fics and then just not fucking add the egg, or only adding it for like one line. And of course my even more petty grievences are that even in fics which had the egg/eggpire, even in relatively canon aligned fics, they more often than not served little more than tools for the narrative to give benchtrio/sbi/dteam some easy villains to slaughter. My one complaint with the Inniter side of the fandom is literally that, and it's not really Tommy/Ranboo/Tubbo's fault to say, although bigger streamers definately didn't help over all, is that the egg arc was turned into a background character thing by the fandom at large, which just became a feedback loop. It was both forcing people with little to do with certain arcs because they were favorites (and butchering characterization) and butchering characters to fit them into being narrative tools that made the egg arc suffer in the fandom. This is mostly just me ranting because i'm sick of junk filling up the tags and making it unnavigable.

ppl talking about how fucked the dsmp was by saying the smaller streamers were left to dry are correct but it’s also downplaying how shit things were. smaller streamers got the worst of it and it was shit don’t get me wrong but literally everyone got fucked over by it. tommy got his shit continuously griefed to the point he couldn’t even really do anything on the server for a while, was left with no communication or help on his ending for weeks on end, and constantly had the story he was clearly trying to tell with some very serious themes belittled and treated horrendously. quackity had lore plans going on into season 2 scrapped because of how the server fell apart along with being treated horrifically by fans. wilbur had to write a fic instead of streaming, while ranboo had to scrap whatever arg he was planning to make a twitter lore dump so his character even had the slightest scrap of an ending. literally everyone but the dream team got fucked over by the communication and disdain towards lore on the server.

btw as an inniter how do you feel about c!Tommy being immune. Personally I like to see it as random chance/luck and not him being god's special little guy. c!Tommy isn't the only one on the server with partial or full resistance. But also his immunity being used by c!Sam or c!Puffy, to justify treating former eggpire members with suspicion or hostility. After all Tommy was immune, why couldn't they have just fought harder. It must be a moral failing. :)

I do have a lot of thoughts (both science related ones (think like last f us) and also his relation to Prime/religion ones bc i am a big fan of religious ctommy forever hehe).

But I also see it as a connection to his narrative at the time. The point of the Hotel arc was to go back to his roots. Connection. To start a project and open his doors to everyone. To be a part of the server again. to people, not to wars, sides, whatever. He invited everyone cemerald, ctubbo in snowchester, and even cdream. he was free and invited cdream to visit it when he got it. Hotel Arc was hope. And his immunity to the egg stood witht hat. There was at ime during this immunity he took a part of the Egg (without being injured) and was going to keep it in the hotel so that the hotel was welcome to the Eggpire as well. Though Sam Nook told him to "be a hero to stop the egg" he told him he didnt want to be a hero. He wanted to be a cause of no war.He wanted everyone to be happy, to come to this hotel, and for him to shrug off the weight the narrative put on him. SO his immunity fits with that, with his will to want to be connected to everyone (not saying it was his willpower that prevented egg infection im just saying the fact he was immune fits with this narrative).

Also the moral failing thing fuckkk youre making me ill and the suspicion against the eggpire who was LITERALLY MIND CONTROL makes me ohhh im going tobe a major lorehead and defend these guys again esp channah.

hy, beloved!!! i must say i love your fics so much, you have a wonderful way of weaving world-building into your fics that's so natural and seamless <3, and i *adored* your awesamdad fic with moobloom hybrid tommy. i think it would be so interesting to see your take on dsmp during eggpire and the hotel arc, when sam was growing closer to tommy. maybe even sam growing overprotective and worried over tommy, wanting to take care of him when it feels like everyone else hasn't. of coure, there's also phil, which could lead to an interesting problem if sam was looking to adopt (coughcough custody battle coughcough)

regardless, write what you would like and im sure it will be amazing!!

Sam watches Tommy through Nook's eyes as he works. His eyes flicker back and forth from his comm to the thick drawing paper; lines slowly merging and growing into the first, real draft of Big Innit Hotel.

Quite an undertaking it is. A living space for anyone who needs it. Transitioning from the ashes of another failed country in the server's barren landscape; a quick stop for rest while traveling; a home, maybe, for some.

His interest was captivated as Tommy explained the concept; nervous energy pouring off him in waves, knees bouncing under the table and fingers combing and recombing through his fringe of hair, catching slightly and tugging at his scalp.

He agreed instantly. Obviously.

Sam glances back at the screen, an amusement tugging at his lips. He made Nook so small, not even coming to Tommy's hip, every time the gangly teen is focused on he appears stretched tall like a giant. The pair's exaggerated height difference makes their friendship only more wholesome. The little tanuki robot happily chirps and waddles alongside Tommy whenever not directly needed by Sam. And he has more than once "caught" Tommy giving the animatronic pats on the head with a gentleness reminiscent of his old pet cow, Henry.

It's good to see him smiling again. With no slight amount of effort, Sam has to peel his eyes away from their current quest for the day: gathering the necessary blossoms to grind into dye powder. A bold and bright red would suit the hotel nicely, Sam decided very early.

His earpiece buzzes with Tommy's idle chatter, Nook's sensitive microphones transmitting easily across the several hundred-block distance. Between that and the gentle scratch of pencil and the ruffle of sheets as Sam references his notes, his workshop has an atmosphere of homeliness that he didn't know he craved until that moment.

Sam hums, relaxed in his chair, watching over the boy he'd irrationally come to care for so much. Nothing could ruin this.

Of course, that's when he hears the sound of talons. Eerie in the otherwise silence. A click-snap and jingling. A death toll since his arrival: sliding a sword between his son's ribs with love and reverence that earned him his moniker.

Sam stands from his desk, turning off the view screen on his comm and lowering the volume in his earpiece. Just enough that he can still keep track of Tommy's rambling.

"Philza," he greets blandly, a twitch between his eyebrows at how the avian snuck into his secure base.

A hollow laugh answers. Click-jingle. Click-jingle. Click. The Angel appears in the doorway, his smile crooked. "Ah. Warden. Just the man I wanted to see."

Sam detests the sly dealings that have become the norm on this server. The manipulations and games are tiring.

"What do you want?"

"Get straight to the point, don't you?" Philza says, entering the room and pacing alongside the wall.

Circling.

"I can do the same, I suppose," he muses. "I'll make this short and sweet: stay away from Tommy."

The avian's teeth snap on the name. Like he's consuming it, and Sam tenses.

"Why?" He recognizes a touch too late his mask has slipped. A note of protectiveness coloring his tone.

Tommy has nothing. No one. He doesn't need another thing ripped away from him.

Philza's eyes narrow. "He's an avian. A fledgling. He needs someone who can truly care for him."

Sam's hands ball into fists, gunpowder sparking in his chest and scorching his veins.

"Are you insinuating I can't?"

Philza's smile is cold and brutal, wings mantled threateningly and Sam reaches for his trident, knowing this is not an argument quickly resolved.

Honestly, I could see this being very, very fun! I also am curious how all the different creatures would influence a typical summer camp. A lot of different needs are present, with lots of diets and potential accessibility needs.

Tbh, I don’t even know if people knew the egg brainwashed people. The characters obviously didn’t know so they acted like the eggpire were just evil for the sake of it. But I remember when people were upset that c!bad was celebrating c!tommy’s death in the prison, that it was “unnecessarily cruel”? And it’s like, no shit? It’s showing the extent of the egg’s callousness. Warping a normally well-mannered and liked character to someone needlessly cruel. C!bad was one of the few people who visited c!tommy in exile too.

But nooooo. C!inniters needed to feel like c!tommy is the most hated person on the server all the time (even when the entire server mourned him.) And no character is allowed to be rude to him, even when it’s out of their control and the egg !THE VILLAIN!had a reason to want him dead

I miss the egg arc on the dsmp :( it was such a unique idea for a survival world I honestly don’t think any mcyt role play can compare. The horror elements??? The aesthetic and mood it gave??? Giving up possession of your mind, in order to get your heart’s desire???

I will never understand egg arc haters. Just say you didn’t watch any streams except maybe the banquet

So there was this post floating around talking about how egg arc fans were unfairly blaming inniters and just generally being bitter over the lore, I think I might have even reblogged because well I do agree with the sentiment somewhat, I don't think it's suprising or wrong to be at least a little annoyed given the absolute chokehold The Disc plot side of the fandom had and still has. Like of course people are going to be annoyed when you make every part of the lore about c!Tommy. I have been annoyed when people tag the eggpire in unrelated fancontent. Like, it's dsmp lore, I'm not trying to act like egg arc fans are some uniquely silenced portion of the fandom, but yeah. People did and do butcher other characters (often with female characters, in misogynistic ways) to fit the narrative of their fics. It is hard to find a fic without it being mostly about c!Tommy/Tubbo/Ranboo/ what have you, without filtering through a bunch of tags. It is frustrating to see fans who never watched the egg lore call it 'half-lore' or a side plot. It is annoying to see a storyline that has very little to do with c!Tommy, be made about c!Tommy. In animatics, in fanart, and in that one guy's dsmp netflix recap. And you know, this isn't exclusive to inniters. c!Dream fans too, are guilty of the same kind of 'need a filler character so let me just use c!antfrost or something' tropes, just in different ways. This would be a lot more eloquent if I remembered what that post said, and I hope this doesn't come off as too harsh, but yeah. Making c!Tommy the main character in arcs he comparatively had little to do with, arcs which are already seen as background lore and not important due to a self maintained cycle, and seeing your favorite characters butchered is annoying. Just because it makes you uncomfortable doesn't mean it's not true.

i kinda feel like it never got a proper ending same with the innit hotel like that was sort of abandoned, no hate or anything at all it just feels a little difficult to follow and connect the dots

He forbids her from going to a whole swath of places like the business district (Innit Hotel, Flower shop, McPuffy's, etc), the spider farm, Tommy's house, the prison, the crater, or Kinoko Kingdom (he is unable to enforce this one and is pissed when they letter her in.) These are technically "Eggpire bans" but the other ex-members are either too powerful or elusive for him to stop. Her wages at the bank get slashed. He goes through her house and 'confiscates' all of her weapons, armor, and a majority of her tools.

thinking about how c!Sam is such a punitive oriented guy. Do you think he wanted to punish the eggpire after they were all eventually found?

oh absolutely. He was leading the search and did not rest for days until they were all tracked down and in front of him.

That actually fucked him up badly. He very much felt the need to punish the Eggpire, a lot more so than he would've had his plan worked, but the fact was that he literally couldn't. Hannah was one of two staff members at the bank. Bad and Ant were the only other prison guards. Ponk nearly killed Sam during his attempted capture and resisted all forms of contact. He couldn't do anything to any of them, and that was deeply upsetting to him. In his subconscious, he was guilty for the events of the banquet because his traps failed. He would be cleared of his guilt if he could pass that guilt onto the Eggpire and then 'correct' that mistake, but he can't.

This is part of the reason he's so terrible to Hannah. He never let it go, and he harbors a deep distrust and contempt for all of them. He can't take it out on Ponk, or Bad & Ant (who could simply leave the prison), so he takes it out on Hannah, the guilty woman who's materially dependent on him

So Today Tommy had to get like 2 stacks of diamonds for Sam Nook in order to fully finish the hotel (Thank god Ponk had multiple blocks and was in the mood for drugs-)

Sam then tasked Tommy to destroy the egg! And it seems like they actually had a convosation- (or maybe that was the music, Im stupid) But then decided to get a piece of the egg and put it in his hotel in order to gain some customers. (he replaced the part of the egg he broke with a piece of the vine)

He was chased down by Ponk, then Antfrost and Punz joined in. Tommy got killed twice (No canon lives taken) then eventually got chased down by Sam Nook.

Sam Nook doesn't seem to thrilled that Tommy bought a piece of the egg to the hotels land. And advised him to get rid of it immediately.

But something got me thinking- We couldn't actually hear the egg before (and if that wasnt music) then we may be in trouble. So uhhh Anyone up for Corruption Arc? And just completely throw away the peaceful arc we had?

But still I wonder, if the vines were to take over the entire server, what would happen to those who seem to be unaffected by the egg?

Would they lose any canon lives or be yeeted into boxes until they get corrupt?

(also just to let you all know, a wither is capable of destroying obsidian, so if you want to give certain people on the SMP ideas to get Dream out of the prison. Maybe get some withers!)

I wanna talk more about religious c!Tommy and his influence on the server in that way.

Mumza called the Prime art beautiful and took such gentle care in. People (overall...) are deeply profoundly respectful of the no killing there. The church he built had water to help cure the egg and leather armor to help protect yourself. He takes such time even with little resources to fix and extend the prime path, so everyone is connected and together. He did erase the prime path to the L'Manhole but when c!Puffy fixed it he realized how much he wanted it there. He takes care of nature, flowers, and animals and has such a respect for the life around him. He has such forgiveness and unfathomable hope and faith.
