To Naruto

- Worrying for team 7 in Chuunin exam and get reassured by Naruto’s confidence

- Analyze, confirm and told Asuma + Kurenai about Akatsuki’s identity and target (Naruto) [just after receiving 3 days Tsukuyomi time of continuous stabbing]

- Encouraging Shikamaru to check on Naruto and said that he worried for Naruto’s well being more than cracking the code

- Hesitate to say to Naruto about Tsunade’s Rasen Shuriken ban after hearing Naruto’s dream and determination

According to Kishimoto, Kakashi is the ideal master for him compared to Jiraiya and Iruka.

Interestingly, I find many Naruto fans from Tumblr and Reddit disagree with him. Naruto fanboys on Reddit who is full of power scaling lover dudebros thought that Jiraiya is the ideal master because both Naruto and him are not “geniuses” and Jiraiya taught 2 jutsu to him, Summoning Jutsu and Rasengan, compared to Kakashi who just taught about developing Rasen Shuriken (offensive attack speaking). As for Naruto fans on Tumblr prefer Iruka because they generally saw Kakashi as apathetic and emotionless man, so they like Iruka who is more soft and considerate.

Not gonna say that they were wrong because ideal standard is different from person to person, but in Kishimoto’s case, he explicitly said that Kakashi is the ideal master to him because Kakashi is “A protecting Master who instead yelling at you, explain what went wrong and how to fix it. Someone who pushed his student forward instead of yelling him back to square 0”.

Meaning Kishimoto prefers this :

In the same interview, Kishimoto also said that he had a very stern and rude master image in his head, but he wants Kakashi to be a more laid back teacher, gave him kindness and woman-like speech pattern.

The “woman-like” speech pattern here I think is about how soft-spoken Kakashi is toward children. Compared to other males in Narutoverse, Kakashi has a very calm way to speak with kids and never shy about emotional conversation, like he told Haku about Zabuza’s feeling when they got Edo-Tensei-ed although Zabuza is still in the deep of “A shinobi must never show emotion” motto XD. In fact, I found this similarity between Kakashi and Inari’s conversation :

Tl : dr = I’ll never declare Kakashi as the best or ideal master (unlike Kishimoto haha). But when I first arrived at Naruto fandom, I was so surprised at fandom’s depiction of Kakashi as emotionless military teacher. Like, did no one see that Kakashi is actually a giant softie? He’s like 20x way softer compared to my real life teachers. Or is it cultural difference?

Unpopular opinion: Other than the fact that I actually think he’s a good teach who gets shit on for the stupidest shit?

Ummm, I’d have to say unpopular opinion is that Obito and Kakashi were not friends. Kakashi viewed Obito as a friend of course, but the two never actually had an opportunity to bond. They soent most of their time fighting as teammates and Obito viewed Kakashi more as an obstical to Rin’s love and becoming a strong shinobi, then he ever viewed him as a friend.

Idea for a story: i have a story plan for Iruka giving Gai a gift and bonding with him over having a sort of adopted son that they love

Unpopular opinion: Hmmm… i don’t like Bamf Iruka. I like Iruka being just your standard Chunin who has his skills but excels at being a teacher and wouldn’t do well in really tough battles. I don’t want every character to be a bamf and sometimes it’s nice to see them just existing

Favorite relationship: Iruka and Naruto’s bond is a hard favorite but also Iruka and Kakashi and how they grew to become friends after butting heads at the start.

Favorite headcanon: Iruka is really skilled at Fujitsu. Like, i just love that and thought if they had gone that route him and Naruto could bond over that and he could teach Naruto fujitsu so he could learn something that his clan was known for)

Hey! I'm also a fan of reserved/bashful Kakashi, and I feel like he'd keep any relationship secret (the Hokage, Yamato, Gai, and Iruka would know) for safety but also because he's just too shyyy. How do you think he'd tell Team 7? I imagine him "accidentally" leaving his book, Naruto picking it up and finding a picture of "sensei and a girl way too pwetty for him" inside. Sakura cues the gossip, Sasuke pretends he doesn't care but then WHY IS HE SITTING IN A BUSH SCHEMING AT MIDNIGHT HM?? ~1AM

Pretty much that scenario will happen xD Like hell would Kakashi say anything to his pesky students. The photo is his bookmark and reminder for his reason to come back home every time he leaves for a mission. Though, the chances that Kakashi leaves the book behind, and something as precious as the photo inside is not likely at all.

In my mind it had to be a similar situation as the bell test for Naruto and Sakura. Kakashi has been even more secretive fro a few months and as his pesky students, they want to know what’s going on. So, they steal his book (Naruto tells Kakashi about an idea for a book Jiraiya had) while Sakura and Sasuke steal the book. Indeed, when they find the photo though, they all turn into fishes, gaping at the sheer possibility that their strange, smut loving sensei has a girlfriend?? What the hell??

Merlin and Naruto

I did Merlin here, so here’s Naruto! :D

[disclaimer for everyone: I have only watched up through Season 10 of Shippuden (the arc with the Five Kage Summit), and I am trying to avoid spoilers for everything after that point, so please don’t interact with this (including tags, because tumblr shows them to me automatically) unless you are avoiding ALL spoilers.  For me, this includes discussion about whether you like/dislike future seasons, comparisons of various seasons in terms of quality, etc.  Thanks, everyone! <3]

My favorite parent-child relationship: I know they’re not blood-related, but Iruka and Naruto have me crying every time I see them together.  Naruto straight-up says that when he’s with Iruka he feels like he knows what it’s like to have a father, and honestly, Iruka loves Naruto so much at this point that he would insta-adopt him if Naruto asked.  I love how Naruto always cites Iruka as the first person who cared for him even later in the show when Iruka hasn’t had as much screentime, and when I saw Iruka cry because he’s so proud of Naruto at the end of the Pain arc, it was just...too much for my little heart to handle.

My favorite sibling relationship: You know, thinking about it, almost all of the people in Naruto are only children, as far as we know!  But in terms of just that sibling vibe - Sakura and Naruto definitely give me that feel.  I know he has a crush on her, but their relationship has always felt more sibling-like to me, and I especially love how deep their bond has become by the time we get to Shippuden.  They are just so comfortable with each other now - the depth of the love and friendship they feel for each other is palpable.  

My favorite family relationship (other): I adore Naruto’s relationship with Jiraiya.  That scene where Naruto falls asleep against his back almost killed me, and Jiraiya’s later line, “Your smile is my salvation” - that was too much.  It absolutely destroyed me.  The way Jiraiya kind of gave up on everything after his old life went to hell - neverending wars, Orochimaru gone, his original students dead, his student’s students dead, Minato dead - he just ran away after that, and it was meeting Naruto that kind of rekindled that spark of hope in him and helped him reconnect with his community and rediscover a sense of purpose in his life.  Naruto enabled him to finally come home, and I think that’s beautiful.

My favorite friendship between two people: There are so many friendships in Naruto that I love (one of the greatest things about this show for me has been how little focus is given to romantic relationships, at least so far; it’s very much a friendship-oriented show), but right now I’m in a bit of a Kakashi-Yamato hole.  I was super primed to not like Yamato when he first showed up, because him being there meant that my favorite character WASN’T there, and also he ended up replacing Kakashi on the one mission where the team finally found Sasuke, but the guy won me over in the end.  He is one of my favorite characters now - my heart just swells every time I see him - and I think his relationship with Kakashi is super interesting.  I’ve written before about how Kakashi’s only truly intimate friendships are with people who are dead, and I do think that applies when it comes to Yamato, too, even though the two of them are obviously very companionable and close.  There is still a level to that relationship where Kakashi is a bit of a mentor figure, the “superior officer,” which results in a degree of (still friendly and affectionate) distance.  And as with all of his other relationships, Kakashi doesn’t really confide in Yamato about his life or open up to him in the same way that he does when he talks to his dead friends - but at the same time, there is an element to their relationship that doesn’t exist in Kakashi’s other friendships, and it’s the fact that Kakashi trusts Yamato with his kids, implicitly and without reservation.  Kakashi’s entire life right now is very much enmeshed in what happens to his students, and even if he doesn’t necessarily talk about that with Yamato, Yamato is still deeply involved in that work.  Yamato VOLUNTEERED for that work.  And he continues to dedicate himself to it even when his first mission as Kakashi’s stand-in ends up going completely off the rails and turning into WAY more than he signed up for.  He keeps doing his utmost for Kakashi’s kids without it even being his original responsibility, and that is such an unusual thing, for Kakashi, who in every other circumstance is always the one stepping in to help other people, the one who always shoulders his burdens alone.  Nobody ever asks Kakashi if he needs help with these incredibly high-needs children, and neither does Yamato - but the difference is that Yamato jumps in to help regardless, and he stays no matter how complicated things get.  That’s huge, and it’s only going to become more important.  It’s just - it is difficult for Kakashi to have intimate friendships with people who don’t share his history, and this rules out almost everybody else in the world, because all the people who truly share his own history are dead.  But the degree to which Yamato has altruistically and irreversibly entwined himself into the most important parts of Kakashi’s new history - the chapters being written right now, the ones that are going to define the rest of Kakashi’s life - means that Yamato is well on his way to breaking through that wall and becoming the first exception to a universal rule. [There is a lot to be said on Kakashi’s side of this, too, like - every time Kakashi refuses to call Yamato by his code name I lose my mind just a little bit, and I have MANY thoughts about Kakashi basically dragging folks who’ve been victimized or exploited or experimented on out of ANBU and then absorbing them into his own team, where they become a part of a family-type unit that respects them and cares about them and treats them like human beings.  I mean, there’s a huge difference between the Yamato we meet in S2 vs. the Yamato we know in S10 (and the same thing goes for Sai!) - and that’s something I think about a lot.]

My favorite friendship between a group:  I love all of the team dynamics, but Team Gai is a fave XD  The absurd contrast between oh-so-serious Neji vs. Gai/Lee’s incredible goofiness (with Tenten’s exasperation in between) is comedy gold.  I screamed with laughter in S1 when Gai was trying to get Neji to put his hand in the circle and do their “shout a slogan like a sports team” thing - I’ve never seen anything funnier on this show than jonin!Neji trying to put up with Gai’s antics.  

My favorite mentorship: My favorite mentorship is always Kakashi and whichever kid happens be onscreen with him at that moment, but I’ll be honest and say that Kakashi+Sasuke was the first dynamic that got me actually invested in this show (as opposed to me just watching it because it was on and not really caring what happened to any of the characters).  They are still the mentorship dynamic about which I have the most complex feelings, and that is especially true after the last season we watched.  I will probably end up making a separate post about this, because I still have not written down all of my thoughts about the end of Season 10 and I am still trapped in my feelings about this very lost child and the only adult who ever tried to help him the way he deserved to be helped, and I know I have way more to say about them than I can reasonably fit in this bullet point.  But - the short version is that I am super compelled by the way that every tragedy that’s befallen Kakashi is precisely what shapes him into the only adult who can help this particular kid, the way seemingly senseless events ended up putting Kakashi in a position where he’s the only adult who can intervene on this kid’s behalf many, many years later.  The way Sasuke’s plight (and the potential that Kakashi has to help him) suddenly grants meaning to the worst parts of Kakashi’s life - that knocks me on my butt.  

My favorite rivalry: So I probably would not have said this until the episode where Kakashi comes three seconds away from being made Hokage, but I’m gonna say Gai & Kakashi, solely to express my love and appreciation for Gai in that episode.  This is the ep where Gai challenges Kakashi to a race through the entire village (as a sort of “last hurrah before we can’t do this kind of silly shit anymore” thing) and Kakashi is initially kind of reluctant to do it, because he’s stressed out about a lot of things, but he does end up agreeing to it, and then he has SO much fun, and I LOVED this so much; I can’t even tell you.  This moment takes place immediately after Kakashi returns from that horrible, awful confrontation with Sasuke, and everything preceding this scene was very hard for me to see, because everybody is just asking Kakashi to do more and more and more for them without giving him even a hot minute to be like “i almost just killed my own kid.  i almost just had to kill my own kid, who was trying to kill my other kid, who was trying to kill kid #1 first, so i wouldn’t have assume the burden of killing him myself.”  Nobody checks on him, nobody asks, and Kakashi has to just hold onto that horror and also fret over the uncertain yet chilling secrets that Madara Uchiha disclosed and also prepare to shoulder the crushing weight of an office he never asked for - AND THEN.  GAI SHOWS UP.  And even though Gai doesn’t really know what happened, he still checks Kakashi over from top to bottom to make sure he’s in one piece, and then he drags him into this stupid competition, and it makes Kakashi LAUGH.  They go running all out across the craterized scene of devastation that used to be their home, and they have FUN doing it, and Kakashi straight-up tells Gai, “This was just what I needed,” which - god.  It would be great if Kakashi had somebody he could actually talk to, sure, but there’s also a space in our lives for people who just cheer us up, no questions asked.  It’s like when you tell someone you have a problem and they ask, “Do you want to talk about it or do you want to be distracted?”  Sometimes you don’t need to talk about it.  Sometimes you just need people who will take you for a goofy footrace and make you feel like you’re running too fast for any of your troubles to ever touch you again, for a few minutes. 

My favorite hatred/antipathy: The answer to this question used to be Kakashi and Itachi, and while I’m even MORE fascinated by their dynamic now than ever, it’s taken on a whole new dimension, given that I think Itachi is (secretly) thrilled to see someone like Kakashi so committed to taking him down and keeping Sasuke safe.  So, in place of that, I’ll just say that I love how much all of the Akatsuki cannot stand each other XD  Almost none of them get along, and it makes me laugh every time - I can’t believe they ever get anything done, though I guess that’s to be expected when you get that many super-criminals together in a room.  I especially love how they all think Orochimaru is so stupid...cannot get over them laughing at him and his body-snatching immortality schemes.

My favorite potential relationship between characters who never talk in canon: Okay, these are both silly answers, but - I would have KILLED to see Jiraiya interacting with Minato’s team.  Like, I’m certain they spent time together, but honestly, what I wouldn’t give to have witnessed some of it.  All I could think about during that mini-arc where Jiraiya teaches Naruto how to sync up with Gamariki was how little!Kakashi would have taken one look at the dancing frogs and decided he would be using dog!summons for the rest of his life; meanwhile Obito would have already been in the frog’s mouth begging to be launched into the air like a cannonball.  Also - my sister said the other night how it is a CRIME that we never got to see Sasuke forced to interact with Jiraiya and honestly, that is too true.

I've had the strangest of dream last night. Hiruzen wanted to give baby Naruto to Orochimaru, who already had Kabuto, Anko and Tenzou with him like they were his sons and daughter, but Kakashi didn't like the idea so he took baby Naruto and left the village. Years later he comes back for the Chunin exams (there was also no Massacre? I think, bc I remember Shisui being a teacher with Iruka in my dream) and Naruto could partecipate even if he had no team and Orochimaru was a good person (1/2)

and the bastard who tried to take Sasuke away was Jiraiya, who attacked with the Sound-Nin, and Hiruzen still died and Hiashi became the new Hokage (🤔??? I don't question my dreams anymore) but Kakashi hated him and he and Orochimaru joined forces to kill Hiashi by making it seems an accident and Orochimaru became the new Hokage after that and Kakashi became his right-hand man and Jiraiya died...? If I remember correctly. I don't even know anymore. I woke up super confused (2/2)

Shisui being Sakura and Sasuke’s teacher, with Naruto joining after the chunin exams maybe?

Kakashi never being an enemy of Konoha but making it clear that his 13 year old ass is taking care of Naruto which is obviously going to be a full time job for a while so Konoha loses a top shinobi for 12 years.

Listen. I just want a fanfic that ends the way it should be. Naruto ‘saved’ Sasuke at the valley of the end after the 4th war. Sasuke doesn’t remain this evil guy who seeks to separate or kill Naruto, Sakura and the village again (even though he had valid reasons for why he wanted to). Sasuke is not an obstacle between Naruto and Sakura because he was not interested in a first place. (I see a lot of SS/NH shippers say that NS seem like siblings, but that is just not the case.  When I think of SS and NH all the feelings are one sided on Sakura and Hinata’s side respectively. Even though Sakura is canonically older of the three, Sakura reminds me of a girl who has a crush on the handsome older neighbor guy who is friends with her friend, Naruto who has a crush on her, and Sasuke in the equation treats her like a little sister. Absolutely NO INTEREST. Let me get back, I want Sasuke to have not gotten off lightly, but I also do not forsee him wanting to stay in Konoha. I want the truth about the UCHIHA MASSACRE to be revealed. Itachi is dead and gone, it is time for Sasuke to have justice and not people looking at him like he had no reason for doing what he did to Danzo. Plus it would be nice if people recognized just how much Itachi sufferred to protect the village (JUSTICE!!)

I want Naruto and Sakura and whomever else to be complacent in the fact that Sasuke isn’t going to go around doing evil things and let Sasuke travel around with Team Taka until he feels ready to come back to Konoha, and when he does feel ready he adopts Juugo and Suigetsu as Uchihas and they move into a compound in or just outside the village (I do not think Sasuke would be fine mentally to go back to the Uchiha compound so maybe he gives that as an orphanage space for kids who lost their parents, ect,), but Karin doesn’t want to be adopted because she loves him and they explore their relationship and talk out their issues/feelings. (SASUKARIN) 

Also Orochimaru is NOT given a pass to roam around Konoha freely and he is not given a pass to EXPERIMENT ON HUMANS which is what he was exiled for IN THE FIRST PLACE. NARUTO and the village as a whole are NOT OKAY WITH THAT. Orochimaru is under heavy surveillance, not doubting Yamato’s prowess but maybe chakra restraints on Orochimaru, idk the dude (?) is weird.

MEANWHILE 

Naruto and Sakura just as what was shown canonically hang out in Sasuke’s absence, occasionally meeting up with the other teams, squad leaders (funny Gai and Kakashi Inserts, Iruka (Iruka does not look 70, he looks as he should- younger than Kakashi). When they meet up with other teams, Naruto remembers Hinata’s confession, and feels that before he can confess to Sakura he goes to HInata to show her gratitude for putting her life on the line for him twice but tells her he cant return her feelings as his heart already belongs to one woman (just as Jiraiya did). (Also since NH like to try to spout BS about Hinata being a healer, maybe she actually healed Neji until more professional help came instead of just watching him bleed out right in front of her-a medic no matter where is supposed to heal, periodt!),  Neji is ALLLIVEEE.

After one particular outing, Naruto walks her home (not being forced but because he wants to) everything is calm and Naruto finallly confesses her feelings, he even tells her EVERYTHING, about disguising as Sasuke to kiss her. He either leaves to let her collect her thoughts but tells her he wont stop wooing her. Sakura does not need to react then and there. She starts to think of everything he has ever done for her, him encouraging her and protecting her and more, remembers the times Sasuke even told her how much Naruto cared like the gaara fight. How he is her motivation to become stronger. She thinks about how she had to revive him TWICE, how his heart was and is in HER hands and knows that they complete each other. Heaven and Earth symbols galore.

She finds him the next day (training with Kakashi/Tsunade or whomever as works on studying to become hokage (he is a good fighter, but needs to learn more leadership and hardships of a leader.-> I actually didn’t mind Kakashi as Hokage I do wish he did cooler things or was more badass as Hokage but I like the Idea of Tsunade passing down the mantle to Naruto.) SHE asks him on a date.(Now you know how symbolic this is). They walk together, Naruto fumbles/doesn’t know where to put his hands in nervousness until she uncrosses her arms from behind her back and takes hold of his hand with a blush on her face. Maybe a little clip/ image of their younger selves holding hands/walking together as they did. (I love younger Sakura’s cute little green dress).

Further down the line, Naruto reminsces about meeting Sakura’s parents for the first time and how accepting they were and no cliches about Mebuki knowing or being friends with Kushina. (Becasue i’m like why weren’t they more around Naruto even though his parentage was a secret anyone could look at his face and know that he is Minato’s child and thus Kushina’s, especially if they were close friends). OR maybe Mebuki remembers when she had invited Naruto over for dinner once or twice way when they were genin and she noticed how their personalities complimented then but said nothing because she knew Sakura was so Sasuke- focused then (I don’t like adding to much noncanon things but this is not bad). --MAYBE RTN COULD BE INPUT HERE INSTEAD to satisfy the whole meeting the parents concept.

On a Hinata note,  watanukisakuya has a good idea for rewriting the Last movie. This would show Hinata’s growth and ability to do something without thinking about n-n-naruto kun. I rather a badass mother and clan leader Hinata than a housewife (no offense to housewives but this is the ninja world hunny). I do not know who she would end up with but I admit to being biased to KibaHina ShinHina or maybe someone from within a clan. It would be cool if it was a lower branch member (not Neji they are cousins), and work to end the slavery (She sves her own family, especially out of gratitude for Neji, no help needed from Naruto).

The wedding

The night before I do want Naruto’s swing in frame (XD) think about his lonliness and the waterfall training with Bee when he thought about his anti self, to how much love he is receiving now and how happy he is. This would essentially be in Naruto and Sakura POV. This doesn’t need to take 40 minutes of characters finding gifts, but be focused on NARUSAKU’s journey together. Naruto thinks of all the people who have helped/supported him. I did like Iruka standing in as his father. I want Naruto to think about his parents and their sacrifice so that he could be here. Sakura remember’s Minato request of her to take care of his son and promises to do just that. Tsunade and Naruto thinks of Jiraiya.

Beocming Hokage

They do have their son Shinachiku, Hanami and Hanako, and Lastly Arashi. (Shinachiku is already born and twins are on the way, Arashi has not been concieved yet).

We finally get to see Naruto become Hokage.  Yes, Shikamaru is his advisor. (Even though I hate the Boruto series, I love the idea of a bond between their children).

 Naruto has to deal with the after affects of the war. Addressing smaller villages concerns about 5 nations having all of the power and wars that essentially hurt small villages the most. War relief fund set up between all the big villages to help smaller villages. (I do not know how to manage the ideas of the Daimyo’s v. leaders of villages yet.) Though Hinata would have dealt with Slavery in her clan, I would like their to be some failsafe that Narutoo put in place to make completely sure. I want Naruto to make sure that there is never another Danzo.

Sakura deals with the strains of motherhood, being a wife, and the head of the hospital, helping run the orphanage w/ Team Taka and Ino in the old Uchiha compound.

Naruto the Next GEN

It would not be titled after new character. Everyone did not pair up and have babies at the SAME TIME. Sasuke would probably have had a baby first out of everyone with Karin. I think NaruSaku would follow. Maybe Ino has a baby by the time NS are on the twins. SOME Pairings babies would be the same age, give or take a few months, but split up ages amongst the rest.

(Though there is peace times, I will think that there would be a few strangler bad guys, but nothing that they can not handle, and there is still the matter of the rest of the otosuki. NO NO ASTRONOMY. I hate it. No trains. No futurama look to the village, Leave it as the same aesthetically pleasing rustic village look)

(Ninjas will be ninjas so people will still train, if not only to just defend themselves and keep the tradition alive (like dojos) but yes some people do fall off on being ninjas. Not as many people want it.) There are more jobs though.)

For some reason, I have the impression that the world of Naruto as we know it is not the entirety of the globe, so there are still other villages (Yes, they might have been caught up in the infinite tsukuyomi as well without knowing whats going on)..I don’t know if the other villages are evil or not etc)

Kakashi’s Possible Sexuality

Recently I dive into my country’s forum about Naruto fandom, and the most nickname-borderline-insult that I’ve encountered about Kakashi is “Bujang (Bachelor) Kakashi”. Looking at that, I can relate the pain of a 20+ years old person who had the gall to not get married and sprouting children while living in Asia. Many people in my country wondered why Kakashi didn’t get married although he’s addicted to porn. Many people also think that he is actually gay and married to Guy after Boruto episode aired (although in mocking tone, as expected from my conservative country). 

Anyway, his lack of marriage status makes fans wonder about Kakashi’s sexuality. Who does he prefer, dudes or gals? Boobs or pecs? Now because I have no better thing to do, I’ll try to compilate every time Kakashi encounters sexual situation and how he handles them. Feel free to add other things that I’ve missed!

Icha-Icha 

First Bell Test (Icha-Icha Paradise)

Ah Icha-Icha Paradise, the iconic book for Naruto (mainly Kakashi)’s fans. We got a glimpse of Kakashi’s favorite novel in full glory on the First Bell Test, when he shamelessly reads the book in front of minors (and then getting scolded by Kurenai for it).

Unbeknownst by most people, in there we got the first clue about Kakashi reading Icha-Icha book for the plot. He mainly read the book to aggravate his children further, but he can say “this book is more interesting than you guys” or something like that. But “I just want to know what happens next” is so plot-focused, and makes me wonder since when Kakashi read Icha-Icha Paradise book, because it’s the first book of the Icha-Icha series and sounds like he read it for the first time.

Yeah he indeed enjoyed and invested by the book. I am not the type to judge people by their literature preference, so I just think it’s nice that he was having fun in a job that he doesn’t even want in the first place. At least he never shows his book on his students, the only thing they can see is a man chasing a woman and adult rating symbol. 

Naruto and Kakashi first met on Shippuden (Icha Icha Violence)

Here Kakashi reads Icha-Icha Violence, he was still hooked in Icha-Icha series even after 2+ years passed. A true porn addict will spend their time read other thing as much as they can. But the only book he was interested is another addition of Icha-Icha series. Sounds like he fell in love in Icha-Icha series XD.

Naruto is someone who tried to peek at women’s bath, developed and excited by Sexy Jutsu, I wonder what kind of erotic book that made him bored. Perhaps he just dislikes reading, and we know that he was not great at digesting complicated words. 

Second Bell Test (Icha-Icha Tactic)

Not gonna lie, at the first time I watched it as 15 years old naive kid, I shouted, “Yes, finally! Do Sexy Jutsu on him! I mean, Kakashi-sensei is pervert and you knocked out Iruka, Ebisu, Jiraiya, even Third Hokage with that technique!”

But then.....

“His weakness is spoiler. He was afraid of spoiler from a porn material. What kind of pervert is that? Plus it turns out that Naruto doesn’t know the plot of Icha-Icha (on anime). What if Kakashi doesn’t believe him, keep opened his ears and eyes, and then realize that Naruto only babbling nonsense? Using Sexy Jutsu resembles Icha-Icha protagonist will have the less risk ”

Re-watching this scene again, I am amazed by the hilarious logic of Hatake Kakashi the pervert. Who genuinely reading erotic book for plot point, for believing his cute little student’s words whom he just met after 2+ years, for bravely close his ears and eyes when his cute little students came to him with the intent to attack, the cute little students that can shatter the ground and perforate water tank.

All for the sake of avoiding spoiler XD.

Decoding Jiraiya’s message (Icha-Icha tactic)

Unlike in the anime, here we know that Icha-Icha Tactics is indeed explicit, and Kakashi was legit blushed by the sexual parts of the book. So I think Kakashi is not completely asexual, considering that he’s not truly dismissive by the sexual part of the book. And the book contains sexual parts from page 7 till page 207, damn now I want to read that book XD. 

Oiroke no Jutsu (Warning Explicit Picture Ahead)

I know that in anime Kakashi once sees Konohamaru’s Oiroke no Jutsu and has nosebleed-rocket. But that segment is filler (although indeed a good one and people can freely treat it as canon if they want).

In manga though, there are 3 chance when Konohamaru uses Sexy Jutsu in front of him, and his reaction is.....

This man just too focused on his book! XD Jiraiya is clearly affected, Sakura and Tsunade is disgusted, and Naruto has no reaction because he claimed that he has the better version. But Kakashi doesn’t even spare a glance. Now it can be argued that perhaps he didn’t see it so he has no reaction (although true pervert should turn their head immediately after hearing Sexy Jutsu being shouted), but...

He also has no reaction when Konohamaru used Sexy Jutsu in front of him.

What about male version?

Still has no reaction. But again, it’s weird and downright red flag if he was attracted by imagination of his 16 years old students’ naked bodies, so...

Reverse Harem no Jutsu (male version)

Here Naruto’s jutsu brought almost every type of men, like beef guy Juugo-like, pretty guy, cheerful guy, shy guy, glasses guy, solemn guy, etc (with the exception of a guy with facial hair, dunno why. I don’t fancy guy with facial hair but surely some people think that facial hair is hot, right?). Again, Kakashi has no visible reaction other than shocked. Naruto’s P.O.V makes it more hilarious, because he said :

“Sexy Jutsu always seem to work well on strong people!”

Oh, it’s not like Naruto didn’t think that Kakashi is strong. He complimented Kakashi’s strength many times in the manga. But somehow in second bell test he never thinks Sexy Jutsu as possible technique to defeat Kakashi, I wonder why...

His only reaction of that Sexy Jutsu is....

Kakashi I love you and it’s sad that most people in your circle are dead but please refrain yourself from randomly talking to dead people. I know that it was supposed to be heartwarming moment but I can’t help but laugh.

Konohamaru and Naruto Oiroke competition

I truly wonder how the hell even Danzo’s agents are even affected by Sexy Jutsu. Is Sexy Jutsu that alluring? Anyway, look who ignored it and went straight to business instead..

Here Kakashi didn’t paid much attention either. He was more worried by Root’s distrust on Sai and he only showed his head under the bush after Konohamaru and Naruto dispel their Sexy Jutsu. But wait, maybe he turned his head because he was curious by Sexy Jutsu after all?

Don’t think so, because Kakashi said “were you curious about Oiroke no Jutsu? Sorry..” to Root agents, giving me impression that he didn’t care much about Oiroke no Jutsu unlike his opponents. Besides, if he turned his head immediately he would not miss it, but he was contemplating about Sai’s status in Root instead. Anyway, he missed the Sexy Jutsu but he was given the first seat of Konohamaru and Naruto’s precious bonding.

Here his face is just like a happy sensei who was glad that his student having a good time before a hard mission. He doesn’t seem to regret missing Konohamaru and Naruto’s sexy jutsu. 

Real Life Asset

Probably the only real life experience he had, since unlike Naruto and Jiraiya he never tried to peek on women in bath.

No reaction either. He’s not attracted, not disgusted, not even paid a glance on Tsunade’s boobs. Kakashi just silently looked at Jiraiya and.... probably wondered what’s going on inside Jiraiya’s head XD. 

Conclusion :

In my opinion, I think Kakashi is demisexual, considering that in whole 700 chapters he was attracted by Icha-Icha books alone, something that he followed for years (so he’s Icha-Icha sexual?). Regardless what Kakashi Hiden novel said, he was not the type to have instant attraction toward sad woman’s eyes, even he needs more than 600 chapters to like Team 7 (Naruto is admitted earlier, probably because of MC privilege XD). According to that, he’s also not the type to change his dynamic with other people easily, if he sees someone as his friend or student, forever he will sees them as his friend/student. Of course, it doesn’t mean that it definitely can’t be changed (still less likely for student), but I think it requires tremendous efforts and times that can only be obtained in fanfics, because Kishimoto is definitely not interested at writing romance.

(Or perhaps, he was like me, only like to read smut without having attraction or desire to project ourselves into characters in the smut. In my case, I quite like reading romance, like to see kiss or/and lovebites in my media, but completely uninterested to experience it myself. In fact, I admit that I’ve read many smut fics and books but I’ve never been kissed in 20+ years of my life and kinda disgusted to imagine myself kissing someone, regardless gender).

Tl;dr : They’re all my personal opinion. In the end, he has no definite exclamation of sexual preference (unlike Naruto, Sakura, and Jiraiya) so it’s up to fans interpretation about Kakashi’s chosen partner. Who knows, maybe he likes woman/man but is just honorable enough to refrain himself from getting attracted by his kids’ jutsu and his superior’s assets.

Ohhh!! yeah this actor au is fun but also it made me think what if it's sort of a modern au and THEY'RE the one who are acting out the Naruto series XD i think i've seen comics and fanart of this in other fandoms- just basically some cute and funny behind the scenes sort of thing, like how Kisame would probably spend hours in the makeup room, how the staff would joke that 30% of their budget goes to all the different eye lenses they have to go through, the cast having interviews and joking about the most popular ships or maybe even complain about the writing (it becomes a compilation on how many times the cast can throw jabs at the writing on women, And Jiraiya is absolutely against his characters behavior and also Orochimaru is a better representation in real life than his character-), cute little trivia's like how Kakashi is famous for his love for all eight of his dogs and that's why the writing team decided to let him have a ninken summon in the series, Everyone jokes about the fact that Itachi and Sasuke need glasses in real life just so they could read, and Sakura being an actual martial arts champion in real life and not needing stunt doubles thus making her pretty terrifying on set XD, just all in all really cute anf funny fluff lol XD

Sakura, Gai and Lee are the only one's who don't use stunt doubles. Sakura cuz she has the skills to do it herself, Gai and Lee because they don't want stunt doubles. They want to do it themselves and they will learn.

Kakashi and Naruto often try to do their own stunts as well, but it doesn't always end up working out for them lol. sometimes a stunt double is necessary.

Kakashi is also known for being a writer when he's not acting. He has a few books out under his name that are actually rather popular, so the writers decide to incorporate his love for books into the show and make him a romance reading dork. Kakashi thinks it's a little ridiculous but he does love an excuse to read a good book while he's supposed to be working, and he definitly succeds at the aloof act because he actually keeps getting lost in his books.

People in interviews always ask the actors about ships, and it's good fun for the actors. Kakashi espeshally loves answering questions about the posibilities of things like kakashi/gai, kakashi/iruka, kakashi/anko, kakashi/mei. anything that's age approrpiate and he feels has some basis for becoming a romance he's going to gush about to whoever asks him. it's all good fun and the others always joing him in it.

OHOU! What an interesting question! It’s no secret I’m a multishipper, so I can happily and quite placidly ship multiple conflicting pairings at the same time – usually by making up different possible timelines in my head. While I have some pairings I actively seek out more than others, know that I can be convinced to ship (and therefore read, write, and draw) practically anything.

And I do mean anything ahahaha sorry world~

For example, I ship Kakashi with just about everyone under the sun. You can throw him against anyone and how he reacts (and how they react to him) is immensely interesting to me. Can be sexual, can be platonic, can be consensual or not, I embrace any and all fictional content if he’s in it!!

Primarily, though, the ships I adore the most are as follows:

- Kakashi and Gai (endgoal relationship 4sure; as husbands or as queerplatonic bros, I don’t mind, I just want them to live until they die close by each other)

- Kakashi and Tenzo/Yamato/Kinoe

- Kakashi and Obito and Rin

I’m also absolutely open to playing around with what ifs involving Kakashi and Minato and/or Kushina, or Kakashi and Team 7 (Sakura, Naruto, and/or Sasuke in any possible combination), or Kakashi and his other peers (aka, Iruka or Asuma or Kurenai or Genma or hell, even Ibiki. S’all cool with this bean :D). My not-so-guilty ship is Kakashi/Jiraiya because I think they could have some pretty wild kinky sex with no strings attached and not lose any respect for each other.

For characters that aren’t Kakashi, I primarily ship:

- Hashirama and Tobirama (pretty much onesided on Tobirama’s part, but I will take any and all content – I am all for Tobirama’s diehard loyalty to Hashirama who could never quite allow himself to let it be mutual)

- Zabuza and Haku (similar to above, onesided for Haku for maximum angst, though of course I love it when they come as a set from the start too)

- Itachi and Kisame (though I’m all for onesided Kisame because Itachi throughout the story is emotionally dead and physically dying and not really there at all)

- Sakura and Ino, because god damn it they totally should have had a thing together at some point in canon why is this not a thing

- Yamato and Sai, because they are ex-ROOT and outsiders and could help each other understand the world (especially one where ninjas are no longer wanted or needed)

- Hiruzen and his backstabby but bizarrely enduring and very codependent ot4 with Danzo, Homura, and Koharu (and how this affects his family because man, Asuma hated his dad so very much, what was going on there, what happened here to evolve into such a fierce and adamant rejection for so damn long, I need to know more)

- Jiraiya and Tsunade and Orochimaru, because they were totally an ot3 as kids and my god they messed each other up big time, enough so all three ditched konoha on a semi-permanent basis, tell me more damnit i live for the mess

I also tend to love threesomes and moresomes, or dynamics between multiple people that transcend the usual platonic bond, so throwing an extra person into any of the aforementioned pairings is always up my alley.

For the darker ships, because you bet your bottom dollar I love the messed up, no-good mindfuck pairings as much as the saccharine and genuinely sweet ones, I ship –

- Madara and Obito (someday I intend to draw an extremely dark and mindfucky stockholm syndrome type comic about the year Obito spent trapped underground, set before Rin’s death, tentatively called “Lateralus (Spiral out, keep going)”)

- The Uchiha clan in general really (Madara/Izuna, Itachi/Sasuke, Itachi/Shisui, what is up with these incestual multigenerational uchihas, i want to know more about just how fucked up this isolated and insulated clan was and why it combusted)

- Danzo and ROOT (Danzo/Yamato is horrible and I am absolutely curious about it; Yamato and ROOT agents in general, too, there must have been jealousy there because Yamato came from nowhere and stole Danzo’s attention for years and years, and then Yamato stole their anonymity by going publically topside with Kakashi…….)

- Orochimaru and his test subjects (Orochimaru and Yamato’s dynamic post-canon fascinates me, what’s going on there; Orochimaru and Team Taka too, wtf is up with this dynamic; Orochimaru and anyone he’s ever been in contact with basically)

- Madara and Yamato, especially considering Yamato was captured for like, a ton of time in the fourth war??? And since Madara is 1000% obsessed with Hashirama and Yamato is a knock-off Hashirama clone…….

BASICALLY I HAVE THIS REALLY INTENSE YAMATO ORIGINS COMIC IN MY HEAD that I’d love to draw if time permitted but likely won’t ever happen (especially since it’d be so extremely dark and mindfucky and not mainstream appeal at all, ugh, why am I like this). In my headcanon his first “healthy” relationship was Kakashi, and even then it was weirdy because Kakashi was not in the best place to be in a relationship during his ANBU years…basically Yamato had an extremely messed up and confusing time growing up and even as an adult he was always kind of lost and being used by others. There is a happy ending tho, I promise!!! I like to think Yamato finds a place being Sai and Ino’s third, but anyway that’s a story for another day lmao~~

I don’t think I have a NoTP? There are characters I simply don’t care for, but I don’t particularly loathe any character enough to refuse to read well-written content of them. I can dislike a character because they’ve been poorly fleshed out or handled, sure, but honestly speaking I can convince myself to find anyone interesting under the right circumstances XD;;;

@aniseandspearmint, yay! :D Glad you're enjoying it! I had fun writing that bit. It comes up again later. :P It didn't even require me to bend canon to write that. I just needed to make the thought process clear to anyone who hadn't realized it could be a thing. XD But yeah, right? It's kind of sad to think that but it's true. Kakashi didn't have anyone to give him the talk about what it's like and what's natural. And shinobi probably don't see things the way we do; their society is structured differently so they likely don't have the same terms for sexual orientations. It's probably more like "whatever works for you, dude." (Kids are off limits, though.) And yet people who we'd identify as asexual are still kinda left out the loop, even if I think it'd be better accepted. Civilians would side-eye it more than shinobi, but still. (At least that's my take on how the Naruto world probably works.) The thing is that Kakashi is intensely private. So he doesn't really talk much? I mean, he talks to Naruto, but not about everything. And Icha Icha is kinda one of those things they don't bring up aside from Naruto griping about how boring it is and Kakashi ignoring him because PLOT/DRAMA/LOVE. (Cue Iruka harassing Kakashi/Jiraiya because HOW DOES NARUTO KNOW ICHA ICHA IS BORING??) But it might eventually pop up. Because...reasons. Wait for Chapter 8. X) Also yeah! I'm seeing Naruto that way, too. He'd be down for it? So long as he knew what's going on? And it's fun as well! And feels good! But most situations still fly over his head because he doesn't normally think that way.

shipping isn’t really my thing, personally, so nope!

my favorite thing about naruto is that it’s a show about the Power of Friendship, and my favorite thing about watching naruto is that i’m watching it in complete isolation from the fandom, which means that for once in my life i don’t have to be constantly exposed to people trying to make yet another piece of media revolve around romance when it is patently Not About That.  i’m so walled off from the naruto fandom that i don’t even know what the fandom ships ARE, and i love that.  it’s blissful.  i don’t have to see ships, i don’t have to think about imaginary romances being touted as Canon, and i don’t have to grumble to myself about how much i wish i could avoid the constant bombardment of shippy content.  (truly, a well-curated fandom experience is the best fandom experience - it’s been awesome!) XD

(also, to be clear, the message here isn’t “shipping is bad!” - i’m always glad when other people are having fun with the things they like!  all i’m saying is that i personally don’t enjoy it, so i try to be good about curating my own fandom experience, because i get frustrated and burn out really fast when i’m constantly exposed to content that tries to turn everything into a romantic love story when that’s not what the source material is about.  it’s totally fine for people to do that if they want; people should have fun with fandom in the ways they most enjoy!  it’s just not an interesting or satisfying thing for me, so i have a nicer time when i don’t have to constantly see it.)

in the spirit of having something more interesting to say to this ask, though - here’s a list of other dynamics in naruto that i find wonderful or otherwise compelling:

sakura and naruto’s friendship, neji’s dynamic with the rest of team gai, iruka and naruto, kakashi and yamato, jiraiya and naruto, team 7 and how hard they are trying to save their missing member, all of team 8 getting along the best out of every team and always having the best filler episodes, all of the akatsuki NEVER getting along and being a textbook example of too many “big personalities” in one room, INO-SHIKA-CHO, itachi and sasuke, itachi and kakashi, tsunade and jiraiya, sai+everybody, gaara+lee, whatever wonky but bizarrely functional friendship itachi and kisame had going on, neji and hinata being hyuga clan reformers, ino and sakura being frenemies who still love each other a lot (whenever they actually get screentime which is never *sigh*), kakashi and every single one of his kids (though a particular level of Compelling is permanently reserved for kakashi+sasuke), kakashi and his cohort of ghosts (particularly obito, as that is a relationship that has persisted and continued developing past death which is FASCINATING), killer bee and the eight tails, TAKA -

honestly i love pretty much every character in this show, and the diagram of all the relationships i’m interested in has too many lines on it to track!  none of them are romances, but again, that’s what i love about this story - romance isn’t the driving force behind anything that’s happening.  the most important relationships in this show are friendships, family, and teacher-student bonds, and that’s right up my alley. 😊
