me: i finished the latest trailblaze mission in hsr so i can look at what other people are posting now! oh boy i hope it's discussions and theories about the story. i can't wait to see what everyone thought about firefly (what was going on with you sweetie...) and A Child's Dream - that segment in particular really left a profound impact on me. like who is mikhail? the voice we hear throughout is obviously misha's - did he have a twin? does mikhail have something to do with clockie? and from what we heard and saw, misha or... mikhail. encountered the embodiment of Death that lurks beneath the dreamscape. what's... the full story there...? i can't wait to see other people's perspectives it'll help me piece a more coherent theory together-

Before we call anon rude because let’s see it from their perspective, imagine getting an entire feast to eat. That can be pretty hard to start with so much that’s going on, but if they start with one thing they know they’ll like (aka one character they like) that can be the start for them leaping to other characters to finish the story and the bigger story. I struggle the same way to start book series if I don’t have at least one character that drives me to read it, it’s all about what can be the hook to push them through. Sounds like the anon is neurodivergent (just a guess) so they might genuinely not see it as rude and see it as a solution to even play the game to start with.

Btw absolutely adore the game, the complex and rich characters making them all so unique is amazing. The art is so pleasing to the eyes I love it!! I’m waiting for it all to get out at once so I don’t get too impatient. Shae however interests me the most, which routes will have the most lore for them? Will there be routes that give more lore in general based on decisions you make or do they all share the same amount? (I mean general lore not just Shae lore)

Apologies; we are not trying to accuse any asker of being rude! We are simply explaining our perspective as the developers / are trying to broadly encourage folks to dip their toes into other areas of the story outside of the main route(s) they're interested in, especially considering some routes will be made available sooner than others, and these other routes will likely contain additional scenes/lore of everyone's fave(s) regardless! We want to give each main cast member an equal amount of love (and lore) regardless of their overall popularity, so our goal is not to tut-tut anyone for having strong preferences for one character over the others, but rather to explain that you may be surprised by how much *more* you learn about your preferred characters in the other routes. That's all!

For Shae... Well, they were a foot soldier for one of the worst periods of the War. Lore wise, any other story that touches on the War will likely have content relevant to them and their experiences. ^^

Fuck it. I'm gonna bite the bait just to say that there were many instances where jc clearly trated wwx like a brother/friend in the BOOK, aka the canon text in case anyone was confused or have seemed to have selectively forgotten about.

From the part where jc scoffs at the prospect of wwx getting together with a servant. Laughing and proclaiming that he was treated better than he was (in reference to his own sister peeling his lotus seeds for him which she didn't do for jc).

Then there was him standing up for him on NUMEROUS occasions throughout the book. Such as before the LP Massacre. He could have let his mother beat wwx senseless, but he tried to stop her from doing so, begging and crying even for her to stop and take the punishment for him. Despite the risk it took to do so.

Not to mention the excuses he made to the rest of the cw after the war when he stood up for wwx and shrugged off his casual and overly familiar demeanour.

Then ofc there was the sacrifice he made for wwx (which he didn't have to do as the only male sect heir) whilst they were on the run from the Wens that ultimately led up to the events in the novel..

The Cloud Recesses era.. the part after jfm gave away his dogs and jc steadily welcomed wwx in his life, willing to scare away any dogs that threatened him..

These are all things a nasty, homophobic rich man would NEVER do for his servant if he only saw them as such.

If he was classist as you all seem to think he is, then he would never dream of doing all the above CANON EVENTS for wwx's sake. Js.

These were all in the book. To ignore them, that means you are ignoring mxtx's work and you clearly did not understand the complicated relationship wwx and jc had.

Because it was made clear throughout the text that jc never saw him as a servant. They shared a room, went to school together and made HUGE sacrifices for eachother. So much so, that their relationship pissed of jc's mother.

If you ignore that then you are ignoring a VERY IMPORTANT part of the text. And I have to wonder if y'all only came into the fandom for the mlm relationship between wwx and lwj and not the the story. Clearly, y'all are selectively ignoring some very IMPORTANT facts. Js. This book is MORE than just a bl........

And if that's the case, then you have no place arguing jc canon facts. Js.

Oh my god, fandom people cannot fucking handle the existence of ace characters.

If the co-creator of Arcane says Viktor was intended to be ace, hes fucking ace.

It's like you cant even fathom that he could have a meaningful and deep relationship with Jayce that's not sexual or even inherently romantic. In fact I'm even more in love with jayvik as a QPR. Its. Its beyond sexual or romantic love. Its more.

I can count on one hand the number of canonically asexual characters in TV and most of them are only Word Of God confirmed. You'll live if you cant ship this one character.

If it were a lesbian character and people were saying "I just dont see her as a lesbian" or "shes only lesbian in canon I can ship her with a man if I want" theyd be (rightfully) crucified. But since it's an ace character (an ace man at that!!) Its suddenly perfectly acceptable

And the fact that I only recently found this out and havent seen a lot of people talk about it is also pretty damning.

i know veilguard leans into the age difference between emmrich and rook but i should not be shocked to learn there's a strange faction of ppl who are weirded out by emmrich being "older" considering BG3 fans treated gale like he was "old" for being "in his forties" when he's clearly someone in his thirties with bad knees and depression (he just like me frfr)

The minutes drag on, and the cold wind starts seeping into his coat. He knows with terrible certainty that nothing is coming to find him out here but the rain.

Jeremy draws in a deep breath.

“HELLO?” He tries again at the top of his lungs, shaking what little he can of the gates for good measure.

The figure appears as if from thin air – later, thinking back, Jeremy will realize he was simply crouching behind the bushes. But in the moment, all he sees is a tall, pale, scarred man dressed head-to-toe in black, raising himself from the dirt with gleaming blades in hand. The fright that courses through him is so sudden that Jeremy skids back, nearly landing himself flat on the ground, raising his suitcase in front of his body as if it can offer any real protection from the incoming attack.

He’s convinced, nonsensically, that it’s Death himself coming to him, to put a gruesome end to the Purgatory that has become his life. But Death lowers his blades with a muted snip, and Jeremy realizes that what scared him was a pair of garden shears.

Maybe death would be preferable to this mortification.

The man seems less than impressed with Jeremy’s performance, which is to be expected. His sneer is something of legend; It turns that which otherwise must be a young, handsome face into the picture of disgust, cold gray eyes pinning Jeremy to his place as if he were some kind of garden worm – or maybe a grass stain in his clothes, since worms were at least useful.

“You should not be here,” The man’s voice is deep and heavily accented. Jeremy barely has the time to be surprised that there is a foreigner in such a desolate place before he continues, with a heavy tone of finality, “Leave.”

“No, no, I’m sorry,” He drops his suitcase and tries to ignore how his ears are burning from embarrassment, fishing inside his coat for the right piece of paper, frantic. “I swear I’m supposed to be here. I’m Jeremy Knox, the, uh, new hire.” Jeremy sticks his hands between the bars of the gates to offer the folded letter to him, “Take a look. It’s my letter of employment, signed by Ms Muldani. I wrote back saying I would arrive today, but it must have gotten lost in the mail…” Realizing how stupid and conceited that sounded, he added: “Or maybe the household is just busy, of course. But I would really appreciate it if you could let me in.”

The man didn’t spare the paper a single glance.

“I know who you are,” he scoffs, saying the words slowly as if Jeremy was a child, and not a particularly bright one, “And you should not be here.”

Sometimes I wish that I did ship Hankcon, cause honestly I don't have anything against it as a ship and I'd get like double the content. Idk why I don't, I can separate ships vs platonic relationships in my head and enjoy both without issue in most cases (I do with rk1700 vs them as brothers for example, I can enjoy both separately). Sometimes a ship just doesn't vibe with me for some reason. I was also one of the 0.0001% of the Merlin fandom who didn't ship Merlin and Arthur, a rare breed I know lol. It's not that I don't see it! It's not that I don't see why it's shippable, it just doesn't click in my brain. It's the platonic shit that gives my brain the happy chemicals for whatever reason and only that 🤷

Miscommunication trope has become unfashionable to love but it’s easily my favorite. First of all. Mutual pining. Star-crossed morons. I can’t bear the alternative, really, which is an uneven amount of pining—I need them to be in equivalent headspaces, but narrative tension still needs to exist somehow. Second, this trope can be done extraordinarily well (how I know is I’ll usually have a bodily reaction—stomach swoop! reverberation in my chest!) which I suppose makes the badly done ones stand out.

Miscommunication or fear of communication happens all the time. It’s very true to life, even with people who are good communicators, but here the stakes are so high. This tension is where all that pleasure (for me, the reader) comes from.

Further, “just talk to each other” no. When the stakes are this high the communication deployed needs to be wielded like a scalpel. Delicate, precise, ….whatever. Or, an explosion. Something desperate. It’s not regular communication. It’s fraught with meaning. It matters more to them than it would to anyone outside the dynamic. The consequences of failure seem cataclysmic. Words fail. Words fail all the time. When you feel that much and you just can’t pin it down. See I’m already gearing up to pine. It’s that easy!!
