just. just finished watching s3 of the bear and oh. oh my stars bro. dhmu i am a fiend rn.
this will probably be a rant so i’m gonna just put a spoiler warning (do i even have to do that? idk all ik is that @mattykay did NAWT watch up until s3 so this is for you bookie bear 💋 also just better safe than sorry)
SO YEAH!! SPOILERS FOR THE BEAR S3!!!
there is so much i want to talk about like genuinely. mostly just the cinematography and the whole irony of the entire series being based around relationships (how i saw it, anyway) BUT that’s for another post. this post is about carmen…
i just wanna talk about natalie’s episode of the series. episode 8, specifically. not really focusing on her though (sorry sugar!) i wanna focus on donna’s quote about the day carmy was born.
she says something along the lines of “we were fighting the whole time at the hospital” (we basically meaning her and her husband.) and to me the line just stuck. like really badly. because throughout this entire season, carmy is alone. that’s the main point, at least to me, that carmy is alone.
richie = has evie (eva? evie?) & tiff and even tiff’s husband. meanwhile tina = her husband, and the child of her own. marcus = had* his mom, but now has sydney and the rest of the restaurant with him pushing him further. sydney = she will always have her dad, the bear employees and technically luca at the very end. neil and ted = well, each other, as always. even if they’re dumb, they still do care for another. natalie = donna (somehow), her husband, and now a child of HER own, which she loves immensely.
everybody has each other, obviously, but they each also have individual people for themselves to rush to, also. everyone except carmy. it’s clear in the very, very last episode of season three when he walks alone on the streets of chicago while everybody else parties without him. BUT AGAIN, this is for another post.
more specifically, i just wanted to really just analyze what donna was saying about carmen, because it is SO sad that even when carmen was BORN there was fighting around him. even as a baby, he couldn’t escape toxicity, couldn’t escape a toxic environment around himself. natalie had calmness and mikey— well, donna persevered with her walk to the hospital if that says anything.
but then there’s carmen.
he’s surrounded by anger, like the violet marcus finds in a way. a beautiful flower surrounded by the endless and messy streets of chicago, sitting and clinging to a fence for all to see.
it genuinely hurts to think about, which is why this dumb rant exists lol. he was just… always shown anger. that’s all carmen knows. you can’t teach a dog new tricks, i guess. his coworkers wonder why he’s so stressed when that’s all he’s ever been taught. his mom and his dad yelled at another when he was born, when he was actively learning and processing everything.
at new york there was yelling, at his home there was yelling and at the beef there was yelling. he’s so prone to spacing out he probably doesn’t even realize it sometimes, because he probably got so used to just automatically jumping to a senseless state the moment he hears yelling.
what is the point of this rant? no clue. uhm… yeah. 😔 someone get a therapist on youtube to react to the bear please—

We all know the semi-canonical ‘all the Robins know to hide/duck inside of Batman’s cape, even as adults’ thing.
We also know that Danny ‘is LITERALLY a ghost’ Fenton sucks at remembering his own intangibility while ALSO forgetting to look ahead of him.
All I’m saying is, Danny Fenton (or Phantom, if you’d really like) would absolutely SLAM into Batman on accident while running on roof tops and Bruce ‘Brooding Instinct’ Wayne doesn’t even think twice about letting the kid hide and scanning around for danger before there’s a record scratch of ‘wait who tf is this?’ kicks in.

Americans not giving a shit about the wildfires burning down forests and homes in Canada until smoke starts spreading across the border. Meanwhile Indigenous communities across the country are far more likely to be impacted by the fires and I’ve seen all of one link to a charity and about nine million memes. 🙃

DpxDc AU: Justice League requires all of its youngest members to list at least one adult emergency contact in case something happens out in the field- And Lancer did tell Danny to put his number down if he needed help!
Lancer wanted to call CPS, wanted to call them for years, but something was wrong with his beloved town and the government agents that came were always… ill mannered. To say the least. So with the young Mr.Fenton appearing wounded in his class on multiple occasions, sleeping through lectures even more often, Lancer felt himself gradually accept that no other adult was going to step up to protect this child.
He figures out his Identity as Phantom and it makes his rage boil hotter than Dante’s sixth layer of hell. Danny refuses to abandon his parents (who continue to hunt him unknowingly), and he refuses to let any of his ghostly responsibilities fall wayside (this CW fellow is a real piece of work!).
But for all the things he expected when he told Danny that he could be trusted and could help- Ms. Manson and Mr.Foley coming to him for help, patching wounds, offering snacks and covering for Danny when attacks occurred in class- he hadn’t expected the Justice League to be knocking on his door.
Lancer blinked at the appearance of Batman in his classroom after the final bell, but then his stomach dropped.
TELLTALE HEART THATS THE BATMAN!!
“Phantom listed you as his emergency contact. Have you had any recent communication with him?” The deep, gravel voice startled Lancer.
Lancer checks his phone, Danny had skipped class today; and while Lancer was working with Danny to get him after school lessons and tutoring for all of the hours he missed, it was uncommon for him not to respond at Lancer’s text asking for a confirmation of his safety.
“Not in 24 hours, but I can message him again.” Lancer is shaking as he types on his phone to team phantom-Who wouldn’t be nervous at both the implications of Danny’s safety and the Batman??
Superman flies into the room from the open doorway, “No luck, without a heartbeat I can’t find him. Where ever they have him it’s lead lined or he’s keeping himself invisible.”
SCARLET LETTER ITS SUPERMAN!?!
Danny doesn’t reply to Lancer, and neither do Danny’s friends.
“He has two team members with whom he is inseparable, if none of them are responding then all three have been accosted. I’m coming with you until we find them.” Lancer declares and while he’s sure that Batman is unimpressed, Superman gives him a sad smile and nods.
Thus Lancer joins the Justice League for a day, Helps to save Team Phantom and Informs the takedown of an illegal government agency.
Batman also slides him some adoption papers and a card for a lawyer if Lancer decides to formally adopt Danny. Lancer also wins a Wayne Excellence Award for Teaching that year but he’s pretty sure the money is unrelated to Danny’s alter ego- after all, Lancer is a fantastic teacher.

“Your brother is adorable.” The cashier cooed at Danny, peering over the counter with a smile. “What’s his name?”
Danny looked down to the surly, scowling little de-aged Batman currently holding onto his hand, glaring up at the cashier with bright blue eyes.
Things had already been bad enough when he’d gotten caught in a fight in Gotham, but things went from bad to worse when a magician had hit Batman with a de-aging spell and then shoved them through a portal.
Into a different fucking dimension.
Because of course neither of their lives could be easy. And now the two of them were stuck in Iowa in the middle of nowhere, at a truck stop gas station, trying to go on a cross-country roadtrip to reach the nearest hero city and get home.
He looked up and smiled awkwardly, trying to come up with a name off the top of his head — one of the heroes called Batman ‘B’ when he got hit right? B for Batman, right. B… B… Bee… Bees.
“Buzz.” He said, and tried not to grimace as the cashier’s face warped with surprise. “Like the astronaut.”
This was gonna be a long trip.
#dpxdc#dp x dc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc crossover#dpxdc crossover#dpdc#older brother danny except its BRUCE’S TUUURRRB#why are they in another dimension? because otherwise they’d be found too quickly :)#danny has a backpack on him and irs currently holding bruce’s batman suit#bc ofc he’s not gonna leave that in a cornfield for someone to find#he’s extremely weirded out and antsy by the fact that he can see batman’s face#despite being a kid. it Feels Wrong. its respect for the secret identity#how old is bruce? younger than 10#dpdc prompt#dpxdc prompt#older brother danny in progress#danny’s like. 15-ish thats why he’s so anxious#confident danny is fun and all but nervous danny ftw#none of their tech works bc they’re in a different dimension#its their ‘zuko life changing adventure’ trip. the cross country is vital to the bonding experience#nothing says ‘brotherly bonding’ like being forcibly shoved i to the next door dimension and going on a cross country road trip to get help#danny being a random dead kid hero. nobody important other than to his city and now he’s gotten himself involved with batman and co#danny: his name is buzz :) *internally screaming*#bruce is wearing stolen kid clothes they both look homeless#danny doesnt know bruce’s secret identity and vice versa#this is gonna be so fun danny’s gonna keep forgetting that bruce isnt actually a kid#bruce has the memories of his adult self but everything is kid-sized including his brain#so he’s not developmentally an adult all. his brain is that of a kid’s#starry says its bruce’s turn with the big brother >:((

S̶̤̋̉t̸o̶̝̍r̵̛͠m̸̠͌͝
Look, I know I promised a continuation of "Get in the Water," but I had this idea and just had to write it, okay? So this is the non-canon sequel, the canon one is still in progress.
They escaped. Batman dragged Damian's frozen body away from the Lazarus Pit and through the tunnels as Danyal's screams-sobs-wails echoed behind them. Eventually the sound ebbed away and they emerged to the surface.
A debrief was demanded from everyone; even Todd was in the Cave. Damian trembled, his only sign of distress, his mind stuck on Danyal's face, his brother's voice rebounding around his head.
Father's debrief had been rough. Damian could barely explain what happened, why he was drawn to the waters, why Danyal wanted to drown him. He'd only explained the Danyal was someone he'd killed while with the League, and Father was the only one to doubt his explanation.
Damian took the first opportunity to escape to the showers. Stripping down, Damian turned the faucet and the bathroom lit up bright green.
He flinched away, and when he opened his eyes, the water was just water. A stone sunk into his stomach.
The next day, while Father was consulting with Justice League Dark, Grayson and Drake returned to the caves for their own investigation of the Pits. And while they found the cavern--found by tracking the batarang Father threw--it was desert dry. There was no sign of Lazarus Water, nor did it look like it had ever been there.
That night, as Damian was washing his face before bed, he filled the sink basin with water. He turned away for one second, but when he looked back, he almost dipped his face under the green slime oozing out the spout. He bolted, and when he returned with a startled Father, the water had returned to normal.
Grayson insisted on taking him out for lunch the following day, citing that Damian needed a "break." Damian was furious, but allowed it; Justice League Dark was visiting the cave to discuss the... incident, and Damian wanted to interrogate them. He... he needed to know if that was really Danyal or not. If his sweet brother could have been twisted after his murder into that monster, that Siren crooning at him to choose to die.
He'd never contemplated the fate of his brother's immortal soul before. Had he done this to him? Could Damian had avoided this by killing him honorably, instead of cowardly poisoning Danyal so he'd pass away in his sleep?
Damian allowed Grayson order for him. He wasn't hungry. The clouds above swirled ominously as he followed Grayson to a nearby awning with a picnic bench underneath.
Grayson took a bite of his gyro. "So? How have you been coping these past few days?"
"I'm not an invalid, Grayson," Damian hissed, glaring. "I'm fine."
A frozen breath brushed across his ear. "Ĺ̶̥̲̪̀̐ỉ̷̢̜̚a̴̧͖͛r̶̺̫̾͗̃͜,̶͕̐" Danyal whispered in his ear.
Grayson didn't notice or hear Danyal's voice. "You see, I don't believe you. One of your dead League friends is supernaturally gunning for you, Dami; it's normal to feel out of sorts."
Damian scoffed. "Nothing about this situation is normal."
He looked down at his food and sighed. "Yeah, that's for sure. I'm sorry, Damian. I wish this wasn't happening to you."
"And I wish the creature would just attack already," Damian griped. "It's the waiting that will kill me, not that fake."
Like someone had been listening, the sky opened up and it rained green throughout Gotham.
