Berteduh ia di bayangnya.
Dalam sekejap tak lagi terdengar
detik jam di dinding,
denting melambat dan terhenti.
Hanya suara napasnya mengeras
dan patahan ranting-ranting muda
terhuyung dibuai angin.

“kotonoha” is ironomi’s 8th album and first ever release on vinyl. A tonal portrait of microscopic nuances particular of a Japanese midsummer saunter through deep emerald green forests and tranquil fields, transcribed into a meditative pastoral reverie created with crystalline piano playing, lute acoustics and real-time processing.
The title “kotonoha” (琹の葉) comes from a poetic anachronistic metaphor, combining form of leaves (葉 ha) and plucked string instruments (琹 koto) depicted in classical antiquity. With a distinctive sound that matches the sonic architecture of Japanese aesthetics, ironomi adds “koto no ha” into their extensive catalog already defined by its uniquely committed minimalism and serenity.
“It may be exciting if you bring it to a meal with your family or a party with a small group. Please give it a try.”
When scrolling my dashboard Tumblr decided: “Hey, you post a lot about augmented reality! You must like it. Check out this post.” I must say, it’s nice of this algorithm to help me out. The post I stumbled upon is from @sydney-interactive-blog, sadly when I try to reblog it, it won’t show up properly on my page.
In Japan, firework festivals are common, however many festivals in the Nagano Prefecture have been canceled. This included the Suwa lake festival, the largest of them. This did not stop them from showing people the firework festival above the lake, without there actually being one. The Nagano Prefecture local newspaper, the Shinano Mainichi Shimbun, posted a picture of the lake in their newspaper containing a QR-code. Scanning this code with your phone or tablet would show a layer of virtual fireworks being launched on top of the lake from the newspaper. This way people could still, in a way, enjoy the fireworks festival. Sadly the official website where you could also view the fireworks was available until October 14th.
Important for this show was not only the visuals but also the sounds. The sounds of the fireworks exploding but also the background music. For the background music, they asked "Ironomi (Junya Yanagihira)". He was perfect for the job, seeing he also lives in the Nagano Prefecture and he is experienced in making emotional music.
