This could very well be my last open water fish of 2020. It’s been a good year for fishing. I caught several really nice bass, won a tournament and caught 5 muskies. Unfortunately the lakes and ponds will ice up soon and I’ll have to resort to hardwater fishing. Chunks were eating the Ned Rig! Two 19’s, one 18, a couple other nice ones and a single dink. 39 degree water called for a slow, finesse tactic. Shakey head in the cold water did the work today. Found several fish setup on a steep transition with about a ten drop off. @lews_fishing Mach II Speed Spin with a @berkleyfishing Fusion shakey head with a Powerbait Shakey Snake finesse worm. Water was a little over 41 degrees and the air wasn’t much warmer. Tried several things but the Shakey head was all they would eat. Spinnerbaits are one of my all-time favorites! This chunk absolutely smoked my @strikekinglurecompany Colorado blade spinnerbait. What’s your biggest bass of 2020? I have been very fortunate to have a great year of bass fishing. The other day I was lucky enough to catch a GIANT BASS! This big momma measured almost 21.25” long, this is one of the 3 biggest bass of my life and my biggest of the year so far! I picked up a @perceptionkayak Outlaw 11.5. I’ve been eyeballing the s model for a while and I had to drive to another state to find one. Light, stable and lots of room. I think I’m gonna like this one. I caught 80 bass today... most of them are an @advantage_bait swim jig with various trailers, several also caught on a @zmanfishingproducts Chatterbait. Lots of grass so these two baits were the natural choice. In heavy grass I ran the swim jig and in clearings I caught them on the chatterbait.
