the implications of the show possibly making armand muslim are devastating. marius renames arun 'amadeo' meaning 'lover or beloved of god' which was ALREADY gross in the books since it places him as this godlike figure armand had to worship. and then later on, with the cult in rome and santino, he was forced into worshipping satan which caused a whole crisis for him even when book armand was christian. but if show armand is muslim everything gets a whole lot worse. in islam the biggest most unforgivable sin (if you don't repent) is shirk, or idol worship. by fashioning himself as armand's god, marius not only removed armand's cultural identity from him, he has tainted his faith which is arguably one of the only things armand could've held onto. marius essentially damns armand in one of the most irreversible ways possible by grooming him the way he did with religion as a weapon. and it gets even worse with the cult since armand is not only forced to commit shirk but to reject allah, one of the last ties he has to his cultural identity, completely. armand therefore becomes a metaphor and an example of what colonialism inflicts upon the colonised

The best thing about interview with the vampire is how it is simultaneously a heart wrenching story about grief and loss and how love can bring out the worst in you and it is also a DEEPLY unserious comedy and that’s so beautiful

Something about Claudia being described as a Botticelli angel (just as Armand is commonly referred to as later in the series) and her and Armand having a form of instant understanding (and hatred) that Louis is exempt from. Two vampires made before adulthood and forever stuck that way.

I'm fixated on the iwtv show and I'm reading the vampire lestat and it's killing me, i love this little idiot freak with my whole heart

When they had seen the ring Louis had watched Lestat’s face change, his whole expression shifting with longing, and he had known Lestat would want it.

He had grinned, he remembers that, vividly, remembers how the muscles in his jaw had pulled at the skin.

It had been him, who had reached for it, and, in a moment of mindless purity of emotion, had reached out for Lestat’s hand, and had pushed the ring onto it.

He can still feel the way Lestat had frozen, under his touch.

The way the impression of their breaths ceased.

The way their hearts had stumbled.

Born from an emotion buried deep in Louis’ heart the action had shifted to encapsulate more, to thread through everything, really, unplanned and unanticipated, but meant all the more.

There had been a hiccup to Lestat’s inhale, when he had drawn breath.

His eyes had seemed to swallow Louis up whole.

The longing to kiss him had been a gnawing ache, in his limbs, in his chest, in the pit of Louis’ stomach.

It rises now, once more, the need for their taste, the taste of him and Lestat, on his tongue, in his mouth, in his body… he groans, turning to his back, his heart thundering suddenly, viciously needy, demanding what he has suppressed for so long.

Tonight I’m thinking about how book Armand uses the promise of secrets about immortality to try to entice Lestat and later successfully (for a time) entice Louis to love him. Two thoughts on this:

1. Lestat loves to talk about how pathetic Armand is but he TOTALLY steals this move to use on Louis and Claudia

2. Thinking about how in a mixed tv/ book canon, old man vampire Daniel wouldn’t need Armand to teach him to be a vampire or reveal any secrets because Lestat and Louis have spilled all that tea and yet he’ll love Armand anyway. And Armand may finally realize that keeping things from people and being indispensable isn’t actually how you find love.
