✨she couldn't sing for nothing and he couldn't dance for nothing can I make it any more obvious✨
Kwaziis parents (in my au, Misty Memories), Anira and Kenneth. They're in their party clothes lol Yes they have full character arcs and lore and no im not going to share their whole lives right now.
HOWEVER,I shall BRIEFLY describe them and how they met under the tag!!! <3 u don't have to read but yeh :> 😊
If yall have any questions about them or their personalities tho let me know in comments or ask box :>
Their story takes place from late 80s to early 90s btw,
Kenneth is clearly the second son of the Calicoed Jack and younger brother of Kingsley by about 2 or 3 years. Kenneth (also nicknamed "Kenny boy"or "Kenny kit" as a child) is... Well to be honest hes not very good at being a pirate, especially not like his parents. An anxious and overly cautious one.
He couldn't properly swing a sword without closing his eyes for fear of injuring himself, he was clumsy (even by non feline standards-), and was afraid of spiders. (And heights... and loud noises... and that one Pelican that tried to eat him when he was a kitten- and also-)
However, he was still raised a pirate and had the soul of one, shanty songs and tales spread through the ocean about its depths and tragic battles- He was also very good at cooking-
As a result of his mothers... tragically lost battle with illness, (and witness of his fathers struggles with infection after losing his eye and leg)hes also extremely paranoid about disease and injury...
(his father loved him dearly but hadn't realized that kenneth had low self esteem for... not living up to him, his mother, and his brother... CJ was a young and inexperienced father and also tried his best to teach kenneth- you know like fun survival challenges between him and his brother and how to fight- he uh.. he was good at surviving on an island at least? It was very safe of course, they weren't actually stranded, but it was "just in case" and also "the pirate way" and whatnot.
CJ (calico jack) did tease him a bit about "still feeling like a wee kit" in regards to his pirate failures, it wasn't ever in mean spirit, more fondness over his sons excitement in sharing the shanties he wrote himself! (Shanties cj would later use to stay sane in the amazon...) but kenneth still felt hurt by those comments though he never showed it... laughing along🥺 <:< )
anyways since kenneth didn't want to be a self proclaimed dead weight and was so concerned about injury and disease (bot as easy to get hospital treatment as a pirate yk?) Kingsley advised him to get real schooling- schooling that would give him credibility for a fake identity so he could become their crews official medic someday. Something incredibly valueable and needed.
Thats how he ended up spending half the year at a "flexibility school" in Japan meant to accommodate children who couldn't stay at school for the full year. Whether it was due to international travel, long term illness, apprenticeships (the salty spirit was usually undercover as a "transportation vessel" for the "Sarah Sails" company which was just a fake company made by their clan the Split Tail), and ofc children hopping between foster families- because of the flexible needs yk?
Like Anira.
Anira Kucing (name inspired by the kucing Malaysia cat breed) is, who would've guessed it, originally from Malaysia. Anira doesn't know this but her mother had fled from her home country due to the unfortunate circumstance of being a prime suspect for the death of her sister. Unfortunately, while her mother did manage to take a new identity in a new country, she became very ill from cancer when anira was very young and died <:( thus she was legally an orphan, and ended up attending the same school
Anira is ah, ahem, a... unique individual- grew up assuming her father had abandoned her and her mother- only to lose her mom while young and still be seen as a foreign stranger of Japan despite being raised there her whole life. She also had an interesting tendency to pickpocket everyone in sight :) because if she didn't have anyone to dote on her she might as well dote on herself! Yk with like.. stolen cash that the rude rich kids that whispered about her didn't even need anyways >:)
Anira thus became Very Talented at getting people to talk about themselves, and while that was a great way to distract people from their wallets,it was also a GREAT WAY to get fresh juicy gossip ✨ then she hears about this FOREIGN ENGLISH SPEAKING CAT GUY???
Needless to say lil wee kenneth was uh.. a very new lil guy and ofc she just hadddd to help him cuz she's so kind and great! Esp since he looked so lost and like a total dumdum. well what happened was she ran up to him after school, dragged him away to a random street as she rambled in broken English, and then said "watch this!!"
And proceeded to pickpocket three very mean looking older teens. Kenneth, who, understandably, was very freaked out by this tried to drag HER away from them- and then well... hes got broken japanese and well things escalated 😔
He got into a fight with the three older teens, or rather a "run way swat at with claws and TRY TO RUN AWAY SOME MORE because oh great im corned in an alley :) , he also tried to find anira so they could both run away but uh... she was gone...
He tried to escape by scrambling over the wall of the alley only when a small paw reached out to help- and thus they escaped together-
Later on when they caught their breaths on a rooftop, he tried his best to ask her *HEY WHAT THE HELL* as politely as he could. This tiny little menace grinned as wide as possible and showed him FIVE WHOLE WALLETS full of coins she stole! She thanked him and told him SHE was going to treat HIM to some icecream 🥰🥰🥰 and anyways kenneth immediatly fell in love. And you just know she ate up his cringey (cute) middleschool love poems too
Of course when he went to "do his sailing apprenticeship" well- of course our girlie mightve sorta followed him and stowed away and well mightve forcefully wormed her way into his entire family 🥰🥰🥰 honestly tho she had like two crack headcanons that kenneth was actually an alien spy since he was so bad at being a cat or a secret pirate because he just agreed with crime very casually and didn't realize how strict laws actually were. She DIDNT THINM HE WAS ACTUALLY PART OF A PIRATE CREW THOUGH-
Anira very much fell in love with the freedom of being a pirate, the culture and the family, and also the beliefs of the polynesian cultures they visited and adopted many of the beliefs as an honorary sister of sorts ig? Yeh :>
If you're wondering yes she did join their crew and became a navigator of the salty spirit! Very good at it too lol, and CJ loved her and doted on her like his own daughter, often sneaking her candies- Kingsley and she became ah, how shall we say- the siblings who have heinous prank wars either with eachother or on literally everyone else and can't be left alone together under any circumstances.
anira always loved kenneth for who he was entirely and kenneths entire bloodline is just a wee man who falls for a woman who commits crimes and he's no different. I'll have to post about calico jackand his wife maddie sometime
Anyways thats it lol, more details about them and their relationship and story will be shared later on hope you enjoyed lol
Enjoy this icecream as a reward for reading all of that ✨🍨✨

On 21 June 1982, Prince William was born to Diana and Charles, then known as Prince and Princess of Wales in St Mary's Hospital, London, at at 21:03 BST. He was born during the reign of his paternal grandmother Elizabeth II and was the first child born to a Prince and Princess of Wales since Prince John's birth in July 1905.
The little prince's name was announced on 28 June as William Arthur Philip Louis. Wills was christened in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, on 4 August.

Thunderbirds Are Go! language headcannons:
I always imagined that a lot of International Rescue would be multilingual. As part of an international organisation, knowing multiple languages would come in useful. Even though in 2060, translation technology is likely to be far more advanced than it is currently, it would still be useful to have that knowledge in case that tech fails.
I think that all the International Rescue responders (Jeff, Scott, Virgil, Gordon, Alan, Kayo) would at least know some basic Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, French, and Arabic. These are the most commonly spoken languages (after English of course). I don't think that they'd all necessarily be fluent in all these languages but at least have a basic grasp of them so that they could give instructions and reassurance in emergency situations.
John, I think, would be mostly fluent in all these languages. His job revolves around communication, so it would be even more useful. But I also think that he enjoys learning new languages and is something he spends his free time doing up in Thunderbird 5. I think he'd also know more than just the 5 I listed above, like Bengali or Portugese. He'd also pick up languages from his friends such as Kayo and Brains.
Kayo, being Malaysian, would also speak Malay or another Malaysian language (the region of Malaysia she is from is never said, so idk what language specifically).
I think that Brains would also be able to speak whatever his family's native language is (e.g. Hindi). But, like with Kayo, we don't know what region of India he/his family is from.
I think that Lady Penelope would be able to speak at least French fluently and probably knows some Latin from school.
I can totally see languages other than English being used here and there on Tracy Island, even if just to practice.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷
(This post ended up being longer than I expected lol. But I like hearing other people's headcannons, so I thought I'd contribute with some of my own)

The story of nightcord starting out as an online group and developing into an actual real life friendship and support system you can run away from home to is hilarious to me because it is only possible because all of the girls are from one country, one city, one district, neighboring schools. True, it would be a lot harder to write them to be from different countries. And complicated, too, because the devs would feel an obligation to write about other international characters who might have to do something with internightcords. Mizuki can’t possibly be the only citizen of Malaysia
Tbh this whole take is me being sour I can’t go from my lgbtphobic country and visit my Swedish friends

The timing that I chose to start on Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld --
-- is rather interesting, considering that I'm aching like nothing else to start physically leaving this culture behind in a week and heal from it, while the show kicks off with Jentry - a Chinese girl like myself - having to return to where it all started.
I don't speak about this stuff often at all but I have ended up where I am (after leaving my birthplace of Australia at age 2)...through the odd mix of being brought up in a place where diversity is celebrated and which has (in my opinion) the world's best cuisine due to being such a melting pot, yet people don't acknowledge and celebrate the uniqueness of an individual person. While both individualism and collectivism have their pros and cons, we have to take the good from both to form healthy family units and communities.
It's been overall lonely here in what I call my not!home, since the collectivistic tendencies to stick to tradition remain really strong. People form judgments about you too quickly, since open-mindedness is not a quality that is made a priority at all. This means that anything that deviates from the norm being met with skepticism, being dismissed and minimized. The education level about autism and ADHD is also still very low and there's still a noticeable stigma surrounding those conditions along with mental illness.
It's so weird because my parents spent their 20s and 30s living in Western countries. They chose to raise us to have mostly Western mannerisms, yet at their roots they still parented us in the authoritarian Asian way which caused the trauma. There's literally an entire subreddit, AsianParentStories, detailing the kind of wounding that people like me receive from generational trauma. We're also in the minority here because English is our first language: it's not the norm in Malaysia, and the standard of English here has deteriorated more and more since around the time I was in high school.
It's been a really bad match for my neurodivergence and queerness that Chinese culture unfortunately emphasizes a particular kind of stoicism and "saving face". It's left me with a lot of trauma since an unspoken rule is having to moderate how much you emotionally express yourself. Thus, you can imagine how I've been treated whenever I've had what I much later realized were autistic meltdowns, shutdowns, overstimulation, and RSD: in this case trauma truly begets trauma.
I've never felt like I fit in here, haven't had success in dating because the hard choice I make each time is to never dilute or snuff out who I uniquely am. I'm not even sure how much people's true selves are snuffed out in more collectivistic societies. When it comes to collectivism, it seems like someone like me has to dampen myself, to become boring and dull in order to be taken seriously.
It's gotten so bad that I kinda forget most of the time what my ethnic identity is. The only positive things I've believed I can take from the culture are very yummy food recipes and being given money at gatherings because I'm still single (the red packets, or "angpow"). There's a sort of shame, and I only learnt 500-600 words of Mandarin in classes in the past half year in a begrudging manner, only so that I can know just enough to minimize being shamed by those in the culture who are fluent.
Anyway, I may not be Asian-American yet I felt this so much?:
She's been comfortable forming her new life in boarding school and friends in Seoul, and she dreads going back to where the trauma started.
Plus I couldn't help but internally smile when seeing familiar aspects of my own culture reflected back at me:
The background art and animation is absolutely gorgeous.
It might be wiser timing for me to wait till I've flown down under next week, set up in my mom's friend's house in her cozy guest bedroom, and then rewatch the pilot ep and properly watch through the show. Having plenty of physical distance from Southeast Asia and (finally) being reunited with cold weather is likely to make the watching experience as comfortable as can be, since some themes in the show might be quite close to not!home.
And I cautiously hope that the instigating incident of trauma in Jentry's life:
can be a powerful metaphor for being othered. Because I've been othered hell of a lot in my life here, with the minority stress adding up over the decades till it's majorly affected my mental health.
Being here is only going to be a positive experience once I return here as a visitor/foreigner, after I plant new roots in Australia. It's come full circle where I get to give it a shot going back there, which I hope is something that will be for good.
Anyway, representation matters

Typically, kidnapped girls in Pakistan, some as young as 10, are abducted, forced to convert to Islam and raped under cover of Islamic 'marriages' and are then pressured to record false statements in favor of the kidnappers, rights advocates say. Judges routinely ignore documentary evidence related to the children's ages, handing them back to kidnappers as their 'legal wives.' — Morning Star News, February 7, 2025, Pakistan.
In just the three weeks between Christmas 2024 and these attacks of Jan. 15, at least 128 Christians have been slaughtered in the North Kivu region alone. — Congo.
"Paki establishment has created a nation where the rights of minorities are trampled upon with alarming regularity. By empowering hardline groups and allowing them free rein, the Army has nurtured a culture of extremism that targets Christians, Hindus, Ahmadis, and other minorities with brutal precision.... Police rarely act to protect victims, while legal loopholes and vague religious laws, such as the infamous blasphemy law, are weaponized against them. These tools of oppression serve not only to silence dissent but also to provide cover for the perpetrators of violence. In the case of minority girls, the judicial system often works to retain victims against their will, legitimizing forced conversions and marriages under the pretext of religious freedom. This legal framework is no accident—it is the product of an establishment that has long relied on radical Islamists as a tool of power. These alliances have turned Pakistan into a hotbed of extremism, destabilizing not just its internal fabric but the entire region. The unchecked violence against minorities is not an aberration but the inevitable outcome of decades of Army-sponsored radicalization." — News Intervention, January 7, 2025, Pakistan.
"There is also a new emphasis on targeting Coptic women who suffer physical or mental health problems, which make them doubly vulnerable. This enables the abductors to create confusion regarding the circumstances of a disappeared Coptic girl, creating a narrative of a love story utilizing existing relationships and communications, despite orchestrating the entire situation..." — Coptic Solidarity, January 29, 2025, Egypt.
Court documents make clear that these sentencings revolve around religion. — Iran.
According to multiple sources, non-Muslim students, many of whom are Christian, are being "subjected to a variety of tactics designed to induce conversion." — Malaysia.
"Somalia's constitution establishes Islam as the state religion and prohibits the propagation of any other religion, according to the U.S. State Department. It also requires that laws comply with sharia (Islamic law) principles, with no exceptions in application for non-Muslims. The death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law according to mainstream schools of Islamic jurisprudence. An Islamic extremist group in Somalia, Al Shabaab, is allied with Al Qaeda and adheres to the teaching." — Morning Star News, February 7, 2025.
"Christians in Indonesia say they are routinely pressured to make extra payments known as 'grease' to local officials or residents in order to obtain construction permits in the 83.3-percent Muslim country. When Muslim residents opposed to the St. Anthony church construction demonstrated in the street, one Catholic commented on social media, 'Those who demonstrate do it because there was no grease available.'" — Morning Star News, February 8, 2025.
According to an Indonesian attorney speaking on condition of anonymity, this "grease" is "a kind of bribery paid to protestors to keep them from blocking church construction, though not legally acknowledged even when it is paid in full view of police."

Shaping the future of gene editing - WHO calls for Global oversight and Ethical standards.

by The Star Reporter
WHO - Discussion about world gene editing regulations and ethical considerations is currently underway in the World Health Organisation. Member nations, especially Australia, France and China, announced proposals for the establishment of the Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA). IGRA will oversee compliance and ethical standards for gene research. Key offerings included the establishment of a global regulatory framework, measures to protect workers for gene research and mechanisms to ensure ethical compliance from various cultural and religious backgrounds.
The discussions also addressed concerns about ‘designer babies’ and the need for comprehensive education on gene editing technologies. The delegates emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the need for a standardized pricing system for gene technology.
The major solution proposed by Canada was aimed at establishing the IGRA which oversees gene editing practices globally. Malaysia supported Canada’s amendment, but suggested that the businesses should be controlled by the government arguing that abuse caused by profit seeking should be prevented.
However, Israel expressed the amendment's concern about the lack of specificity about rule violations and the punishments. Also, the United Kingdom (UK) opposed the amendment and argued that the business’s break up could negatively impact market competition and future innovation.
The IGRA, a monitoring organization to ensure compliance with ethical genetic research modeled after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), therefore consisting of global regulators, advisory committees and laboratories to oversee international genetic research activities.
The key countries mentioned the importance of developing educational programs at various levels from secondary and high school to universities to ensure the comprehensive understanding of genetic editing and ethical considerations.
Moreover, they require the creation of a comprehensive framework that respects diverse cultural and religious perspectives while implementing global genetic research criteria.

The Queen's speech at The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2023
Ladies and gentlemen, it is a huge pleasure to welcome you to Buckingham Palace today to congratulate and thank all of you who have been part of this year’s Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition - and to celebrate the Competition’s 140th birthday.
Remarkably, the QCEC is the world’s oldest international writing competition for schools. For 14 decades, it has given young people the opportunity to express themselves on the issues that matter most, bringing communities across the Commonwealth closer together.
The Competition, as Gyles [Brandreth] has told us, was launched during the reign of Queen Victoria: herself a published author and a passionate lover of literature. We know from her diaries and letters that she was particularly fond of the works of many authors, including Jane Austen, Lord Tennyson, Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte and Lewis Carroll. Legend has it that, having admired “Alice in Wonderland”, the Queen wrote to Lewis Carroll to request first editions of any of his other books. By return of post she received a copy of his “Syllabus of Plane Algebraic Geometry”. Probably not what she was after!!
But back to the authors in this room! Well done to each and every one of you – you are quite brilliant and I have, as ever, enormously enjoyed reading your entries. Always remember that you are in impressive company - past entrants to this Competition have gone on to become teachers, doctors, lawyers, novelists, journalists and even, in one case, a Prime Minister! I shall be following all your achievements and adventures with the greatest possible interest.
The QCEC has a wonderful history. Yet this year’s topic, “A Youth-Powered Commonwealth”, reminds us that your future will be even better, as the next generation takes up the baton of using the written word to promote and unite our worldwide family.
In the last decade alone, more than 140,000 young people have entered the Competition. On my travels, I have been lucky enough to meet entrants in Ghana, St Vincent and the Grenadines, New Zealand, the Gambia, Malaysia, Rwanda, the United Kingdom and, earlier this month, Kenya. In a library in central Nairobi two weeks ago, I was delighted to be reunited with the 2021 Senior Winner, Kayla Bosire, whom I had last seen two years ago at the Awards Ceremony here at Buckingham Palace. In her winning essay, she wrote a strikingly beautiful paragraph that has stayed with me since, as it underlines the value of our Commonwealth and that of the QCEC:
“The Commonwealth, among other associations, had one goal: peace and security. And when they tossed their differences aside and joined hands - when they looked past one’s beliefs or the colour of their skin - they achieved it. Together. They advanced and progressed together”.
So, ladies and gentlemen, let us advance and progress together towards the next 140 years of the amazing Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition!

MY FIRST SCOUT CAMP IN THAILAND.

In August 2023, I participated in an international camp in Songkhla, Thailand. I was one of the representatives from my school to go there along with my friend from a different school in our state. At that time, there were two states involved in representing Malaysia: Kedah and Johor. Before I got information about the camp, my father, who is a scout teacher, told me about the existence of this camp. He encouraged me to join because I had never been to Thailand before. This was my opportunity to gain new experiences there with a new place and new friends.
The awaited day arrived, and we all reached Songkhla, Thailand. They welcomed our arrival with great enthusiasm and joy. The atmosphere was quite different compared to my place. The school environment and their clothing caught our attention at that moment. That evening, we all watched several opening performances before they officially launched the camp. The countries involved were Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The camp lasted for five days and four nights. They had organized various fun activities for us to try. On the second day, we walked ten kilometers to a nearby school from our camp location. Upon arrival, I saw various challenging games set up for us. Everything was made using bamboo techniques for the games. I tried several games, and one that caught my attention was crossing a rope bridge high up in the trees. After trying out some games, we all rested in the large hall and played some indoor games. We sang and danced together to lighten the mood in the hall.
The next day, they set up several food stalls. There were various dishes from the three different countries, and they taught us how to make those dishes. One dish I can’t forget is tom yum because it has been one of my favorite foods since childhood. Days passed until the last day when we all gathered to wait for the arrival of the VVIP to officiate the closing ceremony of the camp. The performance from Thailand was very touching as they showcased the traditional costumes of ASEAN countries.
The next day, we all packed our belongings to return to Malaysia. After that, we had the opportunity to explore around Hat Yai. We visited the zoo, the beach, and the shopping complex before we headed back. I managed to buy some souvenirs to bring back for my friends, and they were all adorable! I hope to go there again and have the chance to join a camp like this in the future, creating memories that I cherish.
