When is the best age for kindergarten admission?
When do you begin kindergarten? Many children have the requisite social, physical, and elementary academic skills to begin kindergarten admission by the age of 5 or 6. However, for children born just before the deadline or with a minor delay, it may be preferable to wait a year.

The story of nightcord starting out as an online group and developing into an actual real life friendship and support system you can run away from home to is hilarious to me because it is only possible because all of the girls are from one country, one city, one district, neighboring schools. True, it would be a lot harder to write them to be from different countries. And complicated, too, because the devs would feel an obligation to write about other international characters who might have to do something with internightcords. Mizuki can’t possibly be the only citizen of Malaysia
Tbh this whole take is me being sour I can’t go from my lgbtphobic country and visit my Swedish friends

The Queen's speech at The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2023
Ladies and gentlemen, it is a huge pleasure to welcome you to Buckingham Palace today to congratulate and thank all of you who have been part of this year’s Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition - and to celebrate the Competition’s 140th birthday.
Remarkably, the QCEC is the world’s oldest international writing competition for schools. For 14 decades, it has given young people the opportunity to express themselves on the issues that matter most, bringing communities across the Commonwealth closer together.
The Competition, as Gyles [Brandreth] has told us, was launched during the reign of Queen Victoria: herself a published author and a passionate lover of literature. We know from her diaries and letters that she was particularly fond of the works of many authors, including Jane Austen, Lord Tennyson, Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte and Lewis Carroll. Legend has it that, having admired “Alice in Wonderland”, the Queen wrote to Lewis Carroll to request first editions of any of his other books. By return of post she received a copy of his “Syllabus of Plane Algebraic Geometry”. Probably not what she was after!!
But back to the authors in this room! Well done to each and every one of you – you are quite brilliant and I have, as ever, enormously enjoyed reading your entries. Always remember that you are in impressive company - past entrants to this Competition have gone on to become teachers, doctors, lawyers, novelists, journalists and even, in one case, a Prime Minister! I shall be following all your achievements and adventures with the greatest possible interest.
The QCEC has a wonderful history. Yet this year’s topic, “A Youth-Powered Commonwealth”, reminds us that your future will be even better, as the next generation takes up the baton of using the written word to promote and unite our worldwide family.
In the last decade alone, more than 140,000 young people have entered the Competition. On my travels, I have been lucky enough to meet entrants in Ghana, St Vincent and the Grenadines, New Zealand, the Gambia, Malaysia, Rwanda, the United Kingdom and, earlier this month, Kenya. In a library in central Nairobi two weeks ago, I was delighted to be reunited with the 2021 Senior Winner, Kayla Bosire, whom I had last seen two years ago at the Awards Ceremony here at Buckingham Palace. In her winning essay, she wrote a strikingly beautiful paragraph that has stayed with me since, as it underlines the value of our Commonwealth and that of the QCEC:
“The Commonwealth, among other associations, had one goal: peace and security. And when they tossed their differences aside and joined hands - when they looked past one’s beliefs or the colour of their skin - they achieved it. Together. They advanced and progressed together”.
So, ladies and gentlemen, let us advance and progress together towards the next 140 years of the amazing Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition!

MY FIRST SCOUT CAMP IN THAILAND.
In August 2023, I participated in an international camp in Songkhla, Thailand. I was one of the representatives from my school to go there along with my friend from a different school in our state. At that time, there were two states involved in representing Malaysia: Kedah and Johor. Before I got information about the camp, my father, who is a scout teacher, told me about the existence of this camp. He encouraged me to join because I had never been to Thailand before. This was my opportunity to gain new experiences there with a new place and new friends.
The awaited day arrived, and we all reached Songkhla, Thailand. They welcomed our arrival with great enthusiasm and joy. The atmosphere was quite different compared to my place. The school environment and their clothing caught our attention at that moment. That evening, we all watched several opening performances before they officially launched the camp. The countries involved were Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The camp lasted for five days and four nights. They had organized various fun activities for us to try. On the second day, we walked ten kilometers to a nearby school from our camp location. Upon arrival, I saw various challenging games set up for us. Everything was made using bamboo techniques for the games. I tried several games, and one that caught my attention was crossing a rope bridge high up in the trees. After trying out some games, we all rested in the large hall and played some indoor games. We sang and danced together to lighten the mood in the hall.
The next day, they set up several food stalls. There were various dishes from the three different countries, and they taught us how to make those dishes. One dish I can’t forget is tom yum because it has been one of my favorite foods since childhood. Days passed until the last day when we all gathered to wait for the arrival of the VVIP to officiate the closing ceremony of the camp. The performance from Thailand was very touching as they showcased the traditional costumes of ASEAN countries.
The next day, we all packed our belongings to return to Malaysia. After that, we had the opportunity to explore around Hat Yai. We visited the zoo, the beach, and the shopping complex before we headed back. I managed to buy some souvenirs to bring back for my friends, and they were all adorable! I hope to go there again and have the chance to join a camp like this in the future, creating memories that I cherish.

Hello!
My good friend Durrah from Malaysia is raising money to fund her Master's degree in Italy!
She is an excellent and dedicated student and will do wonders in that program!
From her donation post:
"Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!
My name is Durrah and I am 25 years old. I am currently an offer holder for a Master's in European and Global Studies at the University of Padua, Italy and will be starting my program this October. Due to my outstanding achievement as an undergraduate, the university has funded 60% of the costs I would need to study there. However, I still need that 40% to make this dream come true!
I really need your support because I come from a B40 (Bottom 40%) family in Malaysia with a family income of just MYR2200/month. My father is the only breadwinner as my mother is a person with disabilities (PWD) on welfare and I have a younger brother still in school. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my father has used up his EPF funds to sustain our lives until he finally got a job in 2023. On our own, my family cannot afford to send me abroad but my father would like to see me go as I am the only child to graduate from university in the family.
The reason this Master's is important to me professionally is because during my undergraduate, I have developed a niche in security studies in the Southeast Asian region. I never realised my potential as a researcher until my second year thanks to the support of my lecturers. I enjoy researching the region and its international relations and security issues. Southeast Asia is dynamic and interesting and I want to keep discovering the region and understand how I can contribute to make it better. The path towards being an academician is one that I want to pursue and it will be difficult to do so without a Master's Degree."
So if you would like to donate please do ! Any amount helps!
If you can share the post or link around that would be amazing ! Thank you 😃

23 September 2024: Queen Rania called for the protection of Palestinian children from “the very worst” of humanity, stressing that “a child is a child, and all children deserve to be protected.”
Speaking in New York at a High-Level event hosted by Save the Children on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly Week, Her Majesty noted that the sound of a child’s cry anywhere would elicit “a visceral reaction” that can “drive every other thought from our minds.”
“Yet, as we speak, an entire generation of Palestinian children is crying out to the world, and the adults are choosing to look away,” she said. “More than immoral, it is unnatural.”
Commenting on the normalization of Palestinian children’s suffering, Her Majesty stated: “The easiest way to justify harming a child is to un-child them: age them up, demonize them, group them together in the tens of thousands, so that they blur together into one faceless mass.”
Stressing that these children are not numbers, Queen Rania mentioned the stories of a number of Palestinian children killed by Israeli aggression in recent months including Mahmoud, a boy in ninth-grade, killed while riding his bicycle home from school in Jenin, Tala, a little girl in pink roller skates killed by shrapnel on her way out to play, and four-day old twins Asser and Aissel, killed on the same day their birth certificates were issued.
“The early years are meant to be a time of wonder – of exploration, innocence, and play,” the Queen said, contrasting that to the daily reality of children in Gaza, who are being forced to take on the responsibilities and burdens of adults.
Her Majesty insisted that “the adults of the world are failing the children of Palestine,” and must do better. “The bloodshed must end. The bombs must stop falling. Aid access must resume without exception,” she added.
Save the Children’s High-Level Event, titled ‘Shattered Futures in the Occupied Palestinian Territory - Children's Perspectives,’ was co-sponsored by Jordan, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, South Africa, Colombia, Algeria, Malaysia, and the European Union.
The event brought together a number of children from the Occupied Palestinian Territories to express their perspectives directly to decision makers. Palestinian children joined via video link humanitarians who have recently returned from Gaza, as well as representatives of several countries and United Nations agencies, for a discussion on the mental health, education, and protection needs of Palestinian children.
During the event, Save the Children US President and CEO Janti Soeripto called for an immediate ceasefire, an end to attacks on education facilities, more resources to reconstruct schools, as well as the provision of psychosocial support for both students and teachers.
Soeripto also acknowledged that the lives of children throughout occupied Palestine have been shattered with no apparent end to the ongoing war and stated that the conflicting parties and the international community must do their utmost to end the violence and suffering and create the peaceful future that future generations deserve.
For her part, Save the Children International CEO Inger Ashing noted that the situation in the West Bank, “is rapidly deteriorating” and across the territory “children’s rights to education is under siege.”
“Palestinian children’s wellbeing wherever they may be is gravely impacted. Living in a world of instability, economic crisis, repeated exposure to traumatic events, constantly fearing that their whole lives will be upturned at any time is creating a profound sense of hopelessness among many Palestinian children,” she said.
Ashing also urged the guests and speakers in attendance to “really listen carefully to what children have to say, to hear their calls, and to really ensure that we are all taking action to protect their rights not only to live but their rights to thrive.”
Other speakers at the event included Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, Irish Taoiseach Simon Harris, and UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini.

The old exchange building Bukit Nanas is located at the intersection of Jalan Gereja and Jalan Raja Chulan. The building was built in 1928 as the Central Battery Telephone Exchange by the British during their colonization of Malaysia. The site was ideally suited as it provided important links to Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding environment. It was subsequently upgraded from manual to mechanical in 1938.
During World War II, the building was targeted by the Japanese before their occupation of Malaysia. Afterward, the British return was short-lived and the building was taken over by Telekom Malaysia following independence.
With the inception of International Direct Dialing from Malaysia, the requirement for switchboard-operated communications ended including the use of the building. However, in 1985, the prime minister at the time saved the building from demolition.
The Telecommunication Museum was the first of its kind in Malaysia to have interactive exhibits. The museum is a repository of old telephones and outdated machinery once used for telecommunication. It houses several audio-visual exhibits, educative rooms for school kids archives, and resource areas with some artifacts over 120 years old and going back to the prewar era. Apart from an array of very stylish phones, there is even a telephone book that includes popular advertisements from the 1960s.
