PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!!!!!!!!
For the past two years I have been apart of a volunteer club that visits the United Learning Center (ULC) in Phang Nga, Thailand, a school for Myanmar migrant families. I heard so many stories there that moved me in such a way that I promised them that I would tell the world about it. I was honestly astonished that it didn’t have more coverage already. The world had seemed to forget them. So here I drew some of my interactions with them, my friends.
By sharing this post I hope to raise awareness both about the issue in general and to talk about the FED. I have worked with this organization for the past two years and they are the nicest people you have ever met. Their sole purpose is to help the people around them, the people struggling because of this war. They have changed so many lives and will continue to change more. But any and all help is appreciated, and I urge you to do whatever you can to do so.
For more information, go to FED website: fedgrassroots.org and follow them on Insta: @fedgrassroots
Thank you for reading. And to my Myanmar friends—

This is a great book to be reading now. That’s my margin note from this morning on the page describing the colors of the triangle warn by members of different groups in the Nazi concentration camps in the late 30s and up to 1945.

leaving ur country does feel surreal at times. like i have looked forward to this day where i’d leave the violence and trauma behind (at least physically if not emotionally). now that it's coming near i have so much cold feet. maybe i don't want to leave. maybe i’ll miss the food, the weather, the language, and so much more.

Call for respondents: Research survey about how loved ones share virtual spaces across borders
Tumblr media
Hey there! Are you an international student, a migrant, or do you keep in online contact with family or partners living in a different country? As part of my PhD research project, I'm conducting a survey to discover current trends in how people in transnational relationships inhabit shared virtual spaces together.
You can find out more and fill the survey here (it should take about 20-30 minutes to complete): https://qsurvey.qut.edu.au/jfe/form/SV_5h8T0jT919v3Qgu.
Reblogs are super appreciated! If you know anyone who might have interesting insights to share, I'd appreciate it lots if you forwarded it to them.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thanks for your time!

fuck that submarine i thereby implore you to read this report and any further reports on this tragedy i know it’s fun to explore the mental gymnastics behind the idiocy of the rich and the phenomenon of a white man’s hubris but the lack of response and acknowledgment bothers me so much

The International League of People’s Struggle (ILPS) Commission 15, devoted to the rights and welfare of the diaspora, refugees and migrant workers displaced by imperialism and local reactionaries, reiterates these calls today amidst the escalation, signaled on October 7, of the Palestinian people’s resistance to US-backed Israeli occupation.
We salute and support the courageous resistance of the people of Palestine to Israeli occupation, one of the longest and most ruthless in recent history. They have every right to resist, fight and seek to end the daily and large-scale aggression, violence, brutalization, dehumanization and even demonization of the Israeli occupiers supported by US imperialism.
We condemn the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, and the Zionist and fascist Israeli government’s moves to quash the latest uprising of the Palestinian people. The Israeli government’s claims that Palestinian resistance is “terrorism” and international solidarity with the Palestinian people is “anti- Semitism” have repeatedly been exposed as deadly lies.
We condemn US imperialism for its decades-long financial, military and political support for Israeli occupation. US imperialism’s bloody record in the Israeli occupation of Palestine is one of the main reasons why its claims of upholding democracy, human rights and freedom in the world is seen with angry derision by the migrants and peoples of the world.
The Palestinian struggle against occupation and for self-determination is close to the hearts of the migrants and refugees of the world. The Palestinian diaspora is a prime example of the need to address the root causes of forced migration. It parallels the situation in most countries, where conditions that force people to leave are rooted in imperialist domination.
We are calling on our member organizations, as well as all migrants and refugees of the world to express our solidarity with the Palestinian people and our condemnation of and opposition to Israeli occupation of Palestine. Let us show the world and the powers that be that, for the migrants and peoples of the world, this occupation does not enjoy any shred of legitimacy. ###

I mean, we knew, but it's nice to hear so succinctly
#yesss Eastern European perspectives!#our world was/is falling apart repeatedly & further reinforcing maladaptive thought patterns#my grandparents were born in the 1910s and my parents in the 1940s#so chronologically: childhood trauma of WW1 in the 10s; young adult trauma of interwar Poland; WW2 and camps and resistance#then years of postwar Stalinism with its witch hunt for wrongthink that instilled an even stronger need for secrecy and self-reliance#then things were looking slightly up but after March 1968 a lot of people suddenly became too Jewish to keep their jobs/stay in .pl#/then/ Gierek started taking loans from capitalist countries due to shortages of food and p much everything else#now we're getting to the 80s with the threat of russian invasion if gov.pl didn't suppress worker protests ->#secrecy and self-reliance coming in handy again; my family taught me those as a small child#and then the gradual weakening of the Soviet bloc culminating in the events of 1989#[the process was pretty peaceful out here unlike in the Balkans forex - we don't have this additional layer of war trauma & distrust]#THEN shiny new capitalism: sink or swim because the new gov.pl won't bail you out you lazy postcommunist parasites#workplaces folding; public transport cuts; vulnerable populations going hungry again; dismantling of support systems#other end of the spectrum: abundance if you could afford it: no more rationing; exotic fruit in stores year-round; internet; opportunities#my family managed to stay afloat; Poland joined the EU in the early 2000s and people could work abroad legally#[not immediately ofc; a few western countries deferred it by a few years to protect their job markets from filthy postcommie migrants]#then in 2015 the exchange rate on the foreign currency people liked to take out loans in skyrocketed basically overnight#then 8 years of rule of religious nationalist xenophobic insular politicians#then covid#then full-scale invasion of our neighbor Ukraine by an empire our nations have feared/been impacted by for centuries#and now the impact of climate change is getting impossible to ignore even for professional denialists#that's decades of being traumatized and retraumatized and picking up the pieces#like. all of us in EE have really solid reasons to be fucked up and traumatized#the <1960 generations and the >2000 generations and everyone in between#as access to knowledge/education [even if superficial] is vastly easier now...#we actually notice this trauma and fucked-upness instead of internalizing it resignedly like 'oh well life is supposed to be shit'#ugh#why must we live in interesting times
