He can still compete, he just canât compete against women.
A trans-identified male runner took first place at a womenâs race in France last weekend despite a recent rule change at an international level banning males from competing in female athletic competitions.Â
Halba Diouf, 21, broke his personal record at the Nice CĂŽte DâAzur AthlĂ©tisme (NCAA) Interclubs Open competition in Nice on May 7. His winning time made him the ninth fastest recorded âfemaleâ in French athletic history.Â
He achieved a leading performance which nearly met the minimum time required for the Olympics, which Diouf has expressed interest in participating in as a âwoman.â
However, due to recent rule changes proposed by World Athletics, the international governing body for the sport of athletics, male competitors who have gone through male puberty are not permitted to compete in the female categories of international competitions.Â
World Athletics oversees regulations for a variety of race-related events, and previous guidelines allowed men to compete in the female division if they had suppressed their testosterone levels below a certain threshold â a standard which critics pointed out was set to as much as five times higher than the average amount of the hormone found in females.
Speaking about the decision by World Athletics Diouf in a recent interview, Diouf said: âI cannot understand this decision as transgender women have always been allowed to compete if their testosterone levels were below a certain threshold ⊠The only safeguard transgender women have is their right to live as they wish and we are being refused that, we are being hounded ⊠I feel marginalized because they are excluding me from competitions.â
Diouf also took to social media to denounce his critics. On March 26, he posted a statement to Instagram asserting that he believed he had a right to compete against female athletes.Â
âI am extremely angry, because I gave up too many things to come to this,â Diouf wrote. âIf we have to fight to show our existence, we will! The hordes of angry people who moan that trans people are threatening the civilization theyâve built are right.â
Two weeks ago, Diouf appeared on France TV where he repeated his views on the World Athletics decision.
âThe alleged intention to âprotect womenâ by exclusionary policies like this is insidious, even pernicious, and it is intended to deceive people, especially women!â he said. âIn reality, these [regulations] are not protecting anyone and harm all women by continuing to monitor womenâs bodies. They are indirectly being infantile without even knowing it, and thatâs a pity.â
Diouf was born in born in Senegal, but his family immigrated to France when he was four years old. He has undergone cross-sex hormone therapy and legally changed his sex marker on his identification to read âfemaleâ two years ago.Â
Diouf won a womenâs 200m race in January 2023, just prior to the rule change by World Athletes. However, just days after winning the competition, his details were deleted from the list of participants. The French Athletics Federation (FFA) stepped in requiring more information about Dioufâs medical status and hormone levels to ensure they were in-line with World Athletics guidelines at the time for trans-identified males.
Diouf was found to have met the criteria. His endocrinologist, Alain Berliner, said the 21-year-old âis a woman, from a physiological, hormonal and legal point of view.â Only two months later in March 2023, World Athletics updated their guidelines.Â
In a statement about their decision, World Athletics President Sebastian Coe argued, âWe cannot in all conscience leave our transgender regulations as they were at 5nmol/L for at least one year when we were unsure about the impact of doing so across all our disciplines.â
âThe decision that the council made is a primarily principled based decision about the over-arching need to protect the female category. This is what our sport is here to do. And I think the council has done that today.
âWe continue to take the view that we must maintain fairness for female athletes above all other considerations. We will be guided in this by the science around physical performance and male advantage which will inevitably develop over the coming years.â
After the decision, Diouf said in an interview that he was âshockedâ but would continue to present himself to female competitions despite the rule change.Â
The French Athletics Federation (FĂ©dĂ©ration Française dâAthlĂ©tisme â FFA) granted permission for Diouf to competeïżœïżœâup to the departmental levelâ, but his performances cannot be taken into account for an international selection, meaning he has been permitted to participate in national championships or for French womenâs records. This allowed him to compete in the open competition on Sunday, where he won the womenâs 200m race.Â
World Athletics are not the only sporting governing body to update their policy on males competing in womenâs sports. FINA, the international swimming worldâs governing body, voted to ban trans-identified males from elite female competitions if they had undergone male puberty.

How can we expect anyone to take women's football seriously and as a peer to the men's game when we ourselves don't? I understand the place that this attitude comes from and outright abuse to the players is obviously never okay, but this idea that it's ridiculous to be upset by a player not taking club culture/interclub rivalry serious is a big issue in woso. People who treat it like 'oh just a silly little game' like it isn't a big deal and looking down on people who invest themselves into it. If a men's Arsenal player put a Spurs scarf on for a laugh he'd be barred from the Emirates.
listen, i understand where youâre coming from. but lachlan posted the picture of kyra AS A JOKE. the scarf was draped over her shoulder, she wasnât wearing it, she wasnât wearing a spurs shirt. it was a joke.
people shouldnât be making a big deal about it in my opinion because itâs fucking pathetic and iâm sorry but this is what makes arsenal fans insufferable.
these are the same arsenal fans that wore barça shirts to the chelsea game, no? i FULLY understand that barça and arsenal are two different leagues and theyâre allowed to support more than one team, but doesnât that make it difficult if barça ever played arsenal? who would they support then? would they wear a barça scarf and an arsenal shirt and get laughed out of the stadium?
the fact they told charli it wasnât the right time to post it because the menâs team lost out on a CL place next season is honestly the most pathetic thing iâve ever heard like PLEASE go and touch some grass i beg.
and while weâre on the topic; people coming for bengland for supporting charliâs post need to give their heads a fucking wobble and iâve never been so serious about anything in my life
anyway
rant over :)

If I had a euro for every Juve-Bayern couple I would have 2 euros, which is not much but it's a coincidence that we have 2 interclub couples with that combination
And the fact 3/4 of them are Swedish đ

[Gakuen K] Yatogami Kuroh Route Translation
Human vacuum cleaner?
LIST OF CHAPTERS
[Translation under the cut]
Saya: Fuu, we're home!
Shiro: Welcome home, you two. Congratulations on winning the interclub ball tossing competition.
Shiro: That was awesome, what you did. I can't believe you drew to you all the balls falling to the ground.
Shiro: Special ability to attract balls. Number one and the only one, that's so cool. I admire it.
Choice: [It's complicatedâŠ]
Saya: It's weird, isn't it? I'm glad it was helpful this time, but I don't see much use for itâŠ
Kuroh: Don't be too pessimistic, I feel sorry for the power that resides in you.
Shiro: Kuro is right. It's because of that power you were able to become number one at the ball game. Right?
Saya: UhmâŠ
Saya: (That's right. I have to face it seriously from now on)
Choice: [I hope it was useful] â€
Saya: It's a strange ability, but I'm glad it was useful.
Kuroh: It was more than helpful. We won because of you.
Shiro: It was nice to watch how she collected the balls with her ability that Kuro throws her in an assembly-line system maner.
Saya: In assembly-line system manerâŠFufu.
Kuroh: I don't like the way you put itâŠ
Saya: By the wayâŠWhere's Neko-chan, Shiro-kun?
Shiro: NekoâŠright-right, she went to participate in an individual event. She said she was going to participate in a bread-eating contest.
Saya: I see. Neko-chan seems to be good at it.
???: Yata-saan, there they are!
Saya: Yata-kun, Kamamoto-kun
Yata: Y-YoâŠ
Kuroh: What do you want? Is this a protest against the results of ball-toss game we just played?
Yata: ProtestâŠprotein? (Used word adaptation here. In fact, he did not understand the meaning of the word protest (kogen) and said collagen (koragen)) I don't know what you're talking about. I'm here to talk withâŠthat one over there.
Saya: With me?
Yata: Yeah, right. When you were playing ball-toss game⊠You were using your weird ability, right?
Saya: U-UhmâŠI guess it still strange after all.
Yata: âŠYou did.
Saya: Eh?
Yata: I was really excited when I saw your ability!
Saya: E-Eh
Yata: Whoosh-whoosh and the balls were being sucked in! At the level of a human vacuum cleaner!
Yata: At first I was really suprised. Then I quickly realized that you had the same powers as my favorite American comic book hero!
Saya: H-Ha.
Yata: He's really super awesome! He sucks in bullets, bombs and solve crimes. Can you do that too?
Saya: I-I don't knowâŠI've never seen a bullet or a bomb.
Yata: Seriously, you should try! If you want, I'll ask Kusanagi-san to get them for you, huh?
Saya: N-No! Don't ask! It looks dangerousâŠ
Yata: Are you sure? What a bore.
Yata: Well, whatever. I just wanted to tell you that I was really impressed, that's all! Let's go, Kamamoto!
Saya: (Somehow I got very tiredâŠ)
Shiro: It's a good thing, isn't it? You have a fan of your ability.
Saya: AhahaâŠ
Kuroh: Human vacuum cleanerâŠFufu.
Saya: Kuro-kun, don't laughâŠ

Banned from the club email account and interclub meetings due to my inability to contain my disgust toward another clubâs leader
#to be clear though Iâm the one banning myself#I donât think I would be able to write an email to A without being incredibly snippy or passive aggressive#and more importantly I donât think I can keep a straight face when dealing with her in person#anyway. the club (and by extension department) drama sure is something at the moment.

to all chess clubs looking for players to fill in their adult team for interclubs matches. Do NOT put some random ass kid who's barely ever played a competitive game. Just take the L and forfeit. Please. That kid is going to have a bad experience, they're gonna lose their game in 15mins and be bored for the next 3 hours AT LEAST. So don't do it.
Sincerely, the arbiter who took care for an entire afternoon of a 10yo girl who was brought there to fill in for her chess club and lost her very first competitive game to one of my friends who's been playing for ten years. The game in itself was not a fun experience for that girl, she was all alone because everyone else she knew was busy playing, and she was lucky I didn't have much to do.
Kids are not chess pawns you can place mindlessly on a board. Thank you.
#that wasn't a problem for me she was very cute and i really liked taking care of her#i taught her crochet gave her some wifi so she could play on her nintendo switch and gave her a snack#but like. she was going to lose. quickly. they all knew that. they sent her there knowing she was going to lose horribly#simply because they didn't want to lose points for getting one table forfeit. no consideration for the kid and their experience#i hate thisssss#chess#léa rambles
