Tweek and Heidi should be in their beds by now, but unwilling to leave each other’s sides as they are, they sit huddled close together in a dead-end hallway that many nurses seem to neglect.  They will be separated as soon as they are caught, but not before.  At some point tomorrow, probably at the asscrack of dawn, just before the coffee shop opens, Tweek’s father will come to collect him.  Or maybe he will wait until after work so he can bring Craig with him, which would be preferable because as much as Tweek doesn’t want to speak to Craig, he dreads going back to work immediately even more.

The point is, though, that he doesn’t have much longer with Heidi.  He didn’t get to spend all the time with her he wanted to because there have been discussions to have with the doctors and therapists, and his family and Craig came to visit and kept him occupied in his room much longer than he wanted to be.  He was irritable and short with them, and they probably didn’t think he had improved much, but really, he was anxious to get back to Heidi in the rec room.

“Is it bad?” he asks quietly, looking down at their hands, less than an inch apart on the cold tile between them.  “I don’t want to stay here, but I don’t want to go back.”  Either option feels like imprisonment, and his desperation to be a free man is what led him here in the first place.  Heidi is the only thing that has made the experience at all bearable.

“You’ll come see me when you get out, won’t you?”  He tries to meet her eyes with that plea, but the tears springing into the corners of his vision make him divert his gaze again.  “I know I’ll be in a state, but I—I don’t want to lose track of you.”  He shivers and rests his head against the wall, regretting not bringing a blanket from his room.  “It’s just that you’re… it.  Everyone else has given up on me.”

reading de fics has made me think that most people played the game with the sensitive archetype/own stats similar to that. it's sometimes very baffling to see as a thinker truther. like why are you writing him as an idiot, him being smart is literally all he has??? smh

"if you say so...." she doubted it, somehow, but didn't doubt that he'd find a way to make the best of the situation regardless. as much as jackson may have been observing her, she was watching him. it's why, as much as her pride would've loved to, she couldn't consent to him being unkind or unintelligent. she doesn't expect him to jump in and insert his own interpretation of her idea of 'dangerous', though, and she couldn't help but break into a laugh. "sorry, i'm not— i didn't mean that i think you're dangerous because you're good looking. i mean, don't get me wrong— you are. very." she wasn't too proud to admit that much. internal virtues aside, there was plenty to like about jackson horne when it came to appearances. "but i can see why you'd think that: i'm sure you've had a lot of women appraise you simply based on looks." despite the laughter, she didn't fault him for the assumption. she'd had her fair share of men approaching her without the intent to really get to know her— another reason she had a hard time denying him outright. "i just mean... you like to please people, y'know? and that's great, but you sort of—" she tried to think of a way to word it that didn't sound quite so insulting. "you become what people need you to be for them, y'know? and that can't be good for you. or them, probably." she felt sorry for him, really. she'd seen him bend over backwards to ease the tension in a room or make someone feel welcome... it looked exhausting. "i guess i just think that's dangerous. for you and for whoever you're with."

"i am very prepared for each and every kid hating me because i give them homework on the evening, don't worry." though, he never really thought about the kids not liking him. maybe the parents... though, he was used to jealous boyfriends and husbands. this? this was different. "oh come on, lottie. i came to talk to you because i know you avoid me like the plague. and it's 'cause you think... well, i'm still not entirely sure why." he listened to her, though, shaking his head. dangerous was never used with him, and even though he knew it didn't mean it in the way some could take it... she leaned back a little more. "how dangerous would i be if i didn't look the way i did? maybe if i was shorter... if i didn't work out. do you think i'd still be dangerous to you if i resembled the grandpa from beauty and the beast rather than gaston?" he didn't exactly want to suggest she was attracted to him. he was self aware enough to know that most things in life were handed to him because he wasn't exactly ugly.

ooh!! well, i havent listened to a lot of TOP in a while, so i don't have many recommendations there unfortunately :'] but for other slow, soft songs, let's see... i'll put them under a cut with all my explanations, but ☀️ "See The Day" by The Altogether (Volition song!), 🍃 "Rounds" by The Oh Hellos (Shivers song!), 🦋 "Would You Be So Kind" by dodie (general skills song, Suggestion primarily!) are the best contenders!

Pretty sure you've seen it already, but from a different ask, i recommend "Almost (Sweet Music)" by Hozier! (and "Like Real People Do" if you want to cry and yearn with me, though my DE ideas for it are very loose hkjhg) these are slow ones i like hkjhg <3

🦋 "Would You Be So Kind?" by dodie BUT SPECIFICALLY THIS VERSION, because i love everyone's crowded but earnest vibes. this one is led by Suggestion ("oooh you wanna fall in love with us so bad right? right???") and makes me grin, you GOTTA imagine all of the skills squished together in the front of Harry's brain all trying different tactics to get Kim to fall in love with them, (rhetoric: "I HAVE A QUESTION..." ency: "let's write a story! be in my book!") at 2:35, after all the skills singing together loudly, it's just Harry himself singing to Kim, with all the skills slowly backing him up. the ending is all of them fucking ECSTATIC celebrating when harry finally kisses kim hkjhg jesus this'd be so cute hold on i have to go plan this out i have so many thoughts hkjdh

"Seven" by Sleeping at Last would be a sweet Reaction Speed song (ironic that im adding react speed to a list of soft, slow songs though hkjgh) "I'm ready for whatever comes next!" <3 Reaction Speed is a fast, restless little fella who can't sit still for long, always loves moving, acting, doing. he's like the personification of a verb hkjhg <3 i would also accept an interpretation for echem <3

"Cosmos" by Jawbreaker Reunion is a song that The Furies recently suggested to me as a jean song and it's so right for that, very soft and i like it very much :'] (you should also ask The Furies if you want to, it's much more musically inclined than me, i feel hkjhg <3)
