thinking about how the lelana vs juland thing would've never existed if the victims just didn't date canonically

i doubt juland would be clashing as it is now if it wasn't based off of leland having eyes for someone else while dating ana.

ignoring that yeah, it existed before the new lore drop but it was more "oh what if leland was dating julie instead of ana". yknow, normal shipping activities LMFAO which is the juland i enjoy

i think most of the tcm fandom agree that the new lore drop sucks anyway, but i felt like rambling about it

new lore either doesn't give anything new about some characters or kinda ruins others. another post explained about how johnny's shoulder scar lore doesn't align, so i'm not going to go into that

but for leland he's characterized as (basically) a big jock softie, a lot of strength but he's not tough. he does suck it up when his friends are in danger. so for him to crush on someone else while dating another feels shitty?? especially considering how the rest of his character is

and while it does feel nice to have a ship of yours be canon, it's also like, how good ships are shouldn't be determined by how canon they are

worth bringing up as sort of a corollary to my severance thoughts is that severance does an excellent job of showing that different forms of power & control (cult/corporation/family/government) tend to bleed and overlap and propagate in similar forms. in that particular vein, speaking as a cult survivor, it's worth saying specifically that it doesn't do much good to exceptionalize cults as a rare oddity of how societal power can sometimes take shape. lumon, though fictional, is a really good example of how those mechanisms of control exist in many forms throughout society and should be broken down and scrutinized when they do appear.

I just want to remind everyone that Wallace is canonically the worse one to sleep in the same bed with.

Scott can be a bad roommate in every other aspect but GUYS Wallace is the one that canonically snores and kicks in his sleep.

Scott sleeps like a princess with his back against the sheet lying perfectly straight (and also taking all the covers) and Wallace sleeps semi-on-his-side and apparently just fucking punting Scott in the leg every so often (not to mention he talked in his sleep too) and I don’t know why this is important to me but it is.

I really do love your writing and Salvage gets me through when I am sad or depressed. However, I was wondering, how do you cope when someone who wrote a review didn’t like your writing? If you’ve had this before… I had one today and I am dejected. I’m working through my perfectionism and I keep telling myself, “my writing isn’t for everyone and it’s okay.” Any advice?

If it was unsolicited, especially on a fanfic? Delete it, block the person if you feel like, then go do your rage activity of choice before forgetting about it forever. That person is rude and doesn't deserve your time anymore than someone bumping into you on the street.

I've also found it useful to actively think of my fanfic as writing practice, and not even my brain expects perfection from writing practice. It also frees you do Try Cool Things.
