I LOVE the look of knit beanies; so full of texture and SO pretty! I’ve finally decided to teach myself how to knit! Ive had a set of circular knitting needles for some time now but never gave it a go, as it always looked kind of intimidating, well not anymore! Yesterday I decided to open those needles up and get started! I played around for a little while with casting on and the basic “purl and knit stitch”. After a few tries I was excited to actually make SOMETHING. . I started with a very basic beginner friendly beanie from Brittany over at @bhooked and I’m excited to say, I. AM. KNITTING! I am in the mood for solid geometric shapes this weekend and loving the texture created by the diagonal zig zag knit stitch. 

It only requires knit and purl stitches and is fully reversible. New knitted dishcloth coming up, perhaps.

Pleased to report that the worsted weight version of my #fussfreefestivalshawl flew off the needles. I used just under 2 skeins of Malabrigo Rios (369m) to be precise and I just love it. I'd forgotten how much Malabrigo grows when you block it though. I used 5.5mm needles and really 5mm would have been fine. But I don't think there's such a thing as too much drape in a garter stitch shawl of this size.
