Designing the Dragon

The group decided that we should go with the third concept, so I had to create a design for the dragon. I based my design on a Pinterest board that Ruisi created to help me

I hadn’t really drawn dragons before, so I decided that before starting the design I should practice and do studies. Most dragon designs are inspired by lizards, so I decided to do observational sketches of them in order to get used to drawing them.

After that, I created some iterations of dragon designs. I tried varying the shape language between them and making each of them look interesting

In the end, the group voted on using number 4, as it looked more intimidating than the other ones. Then, I developed the color palette for the dragon.

I created a few color variations, and then the group voted on which one was better. It was pretty close between number 4 and 5, but it go narrowed down to number 4.

here's what I have if it ski I dun want it to get in the way of the actual story

I like to think she works like a weird like museum (Basically the mystery shack) she made herself and probably sells and shows off random crap she probably made herself. Alot of the things are fake and ppl probably want her to talk about "the snatcher" but she pretendes to think it's BS. But she knows he's real cause she did see him. I'll explain way she pretendes to ignore it So I like to think she's th baby sitter of MU and MU just talks about it alot eventually then she meets harriet. She just agrees with hattie alot and probably annoys MU but Rose loves kids so she's pretty protective of her and probably to hattie as well. i do like to have rose be the bio mom to bow (I DUNNO I DUN WANNA GET IN THE WAY its up to Mac) So here's why she pretendes to think Snatcher is BS SO she was probably apart of Empress biker gang but she quit and that got her into shit probably. So empress probably cursed her to get back (NO CLUE) and I like to imagine that her curse is different to snatcher, Luka is still himself Blue/Rose isn't she is a evil octopus lady. She had Bow but was forced to give her up to a foster family in fear that the curse of hers would hurt the baby . She got healed so she lucky she hid alot like luka and wanted to protect daughter. But when she turned to blue she was an animal she wouldn't remember anything when she turned back . So when she saw The Snatcher she saw Luka and she was scared cause she LIGIT thought he was gonna attack her. She herd about it alot and felt bad she was gonna make money off it and she probably did but when she met hattie and realised that they where related she gave up the money she made and basically have it to hattie and probably sat down with her to say she's lucky and SHIZ and that Luka probably needs her.

Soooo she doesn't know who bow (Bonnie I think her name is)  is btw cause she only saw bow as a baby, she hides from empress ALOT.sells junk and is a con artist. The yellow in her hair was a side effect from the curse she had but she just says it's a sweet hair dye. So she has a pretty good relationship with Luka but probably don't talk as much

Little Deals by Insecuriousity is an unexpected but not unwelcome backstory for the Walrus Captain’s ship, involving a certain ghost ;)

Warm by Skippyin is a unique take on Snatcher’s backstory!

Illiteracy by eggsinsunnyside features Hat Kid not knowing how to read, the perfect excuse for some bonding huehue...

Empress’ Revenge, also by ZurielWritings23, includes another very well-written boss fight, plus some momma CC and dadtcher as a treat.

We also have From the Stars by Yacer_Sho, which gives a very creative backstory to Hat Kid and has three whole endings! I won’t spoil anything else ;)

Loopholes by Fruisun is very cute and features Snatcher being a big ol’ tsundere ^^

Christmas in Subcon Forest by DeckofDragons is short and sweet, although it is still June...

I like the characterization in Tired by StellaHope, and it also includes some lovely art at the end!

Reliving An Old Nightmare by Erekio is about Snatcher suddenly finding himself human again... and back in the past. There’s an element of mystery to it, so I won’t say much else, but every chapter is accompanied by illustrations! Erekio has redrawn a few of them here on tumblr :)

Dwellings of the Ancient Gods by Nosferatank is super well written, and involves some Twilight Bell shenanigans :)

Chapter 3: Contractual Obligations by Ina (CosmicKouhai) is part of a larger AU where all the bosses go into their respective Purple Time Rifts with Hat Kid, I think? It’s pretty cool!

Snowcon Forest by ImmortalCoalecanth is AMAZING and I definitely recommend you read it!! It was one of the first things I read for this fandom, and what got me into dadtcher <3

Best in the Business by MysticDoodle is a Mandelorian-inspired AU! (You don’t need to have seen the Mandelorian to enjoy it, I haven’t haha) It’s very creative, and I like the characters so far!

Beware the Frozen Heart by NanixErka is a cool concept, wherin the thing that happens to Anna in Frozen basically happens to Hat Kid D:

Do you think your love could transcend time and space? by twip/twipsai is a soulmate AU with tons of found family and fluff that I‘m sucking up like Rumbi ;w;

Familial Obligations by BumblingBriars is about Snatcher finding Hat Kid as a baby, and raising her :D It indirectly inspired BGDC! But that’s a story for another time, haha.

The Girl And The Ghost by phantomthief_fee is a Beauty and the Beast AU, but with friendship in place of romance! =)

The Part-Time Puppeteer by Erekio is also pretty funny! It’s based on the puppet AU by Fedoraspooky which I love <3 Aaa musical theatre and theatre in general is my favorite :D

I’ve also been following A Cloak in Time’s Trials by ElectricBlaster, which gives Hat Kid a shipmate for her adventures! It has a large focus on an OC, Cloak Kid, which may not be for everyone, but I like him :)

And FINALLY, be kind (rewind) by fivers, featuring another time loop and four whole dads! Have I mentioned yet that I am also an absolute sucker for found family 👀

(I’d also like to mention that idk if they count as fanfics but I enjoy MysteryMan_17’s AU Concept write-ups :D)

Phew, finally! I probably forgot at least one tbh, if I remember any I’ve forgotten I’ll edit this ^^ AND, absolutely no pressure to any authors of the unfinished fics to complete them! I completely understand losing motivation and/or interest in something, and your mental and physical health are more important than any silly fanfiction ^^

My previous part noodles made me want to draw this other part noodle snake boy. Originally I was just thinking he just was born like this, but then @fedoraspooky suggested the even more hilarious idea that he found some magic way to turn himself into the snake he definitely always wanted to be while keeping his arms and used it without any second thought about it and its effects. I took this photo earlier so it doesn’t show his arm stick or the little fabric on his tail to add some fur to it from the main body

I’ll be posting two videos on him, the first will go up some time tomorrow just kinda showing his functionality and stuff, the second will talk about how he was made since I was asked about it (and I’m better at showing than telling)

I’m really proud of how he came out considering I’ve never made puppets before starting this project!!!!

He’s quite large as you can see via him sitting on my couch, and he’s kinda scrunched up. the video will show better, but he’s purposely curled to sit up on my shoulder while i puppet him (though i need to make some weight adjustments....)

Got any Hat in time fanfic recommendations?

hooo boy ok let’s me see here...

the fun thing about getting into a new fandom that’s been around for a little while is ALL THE CONTENT. All the fics! All the drawings! All the mods! I never experienced it before so its just ...lovely~~ I spent hours reading all kinds of fics, giving me a place to escape, no matter how brief!

Preface - i love the bastard noodle man so all my searches are centered around him or variations of him.

I mean, I would recommend just... so many fics in the snatcher tag on ao3. Sob. So many good fics.

Puppet Show

Welp, I couldn’t stop thinking about this AU by @fedoraspooky. I’m a sucker for things being a show.  And the thoughts just kept going even further when @modmad and @doodledrawsthings drew even more things to go with it (go check out the art of all these folks and look at those amazing drawings, because I’m smitten)

Anyway, came up with names and a like???? kinda backstory just for this fic, I hope it’s alright! 

"You've made puppets before, right?"

Conall McCoy-Jackson has been asked a lot of stupid questions in his life, but this one takes the cake. The man stares at his friend, before finally, he huffs, "We went to school together, Karl."

"Right! Right…" Karl rubs his hands together, clearing his throat. Karl Abram has always been a nervous man, quiet and preferring to keep to himself. Since they were wee ones, Conall has always stepped up to the plate to be the loud one, the aggressive one, the guy who you deal with if you mess with Karl.

"I...just have this idea," he starts, and his eyes drift down to the floor, "for Timmy."

Ah. Lil Timmy. 

Conall has met the boy several times, an uncle to him considering how he's friends with his dad. The boy is a quiet one, just like Karl. And, unfortunately, a lonely one. Especially now, since his mother…

Karl clears his throat again, shoving Conall's thoughts away. "He loves puppets...and...last night, I stayed up and wrote this whole thing. It just came to me, suddenly, as if she was writing it with me."

Karl's eyes go soft as he thinks of his late wife, and a small smile comes from him. "This story...about these girls looking for objects they lost, and they meet all these characters. Each world is different…"

Karl goes on, describing it. A mafia boss who cooks, a loud mouthed conductor, a purple swamp, an icy mansion...he sounds the happiest Conall has heard him in awhile. He sounds hopeful.

"I just...need help, you know," Karl laughs quietly, looking at Conall, "I can write, but I can't make the magic happen."

Conall has a job, bills to pay. He shouldn't be considering this. There's a high chance it fails, like every other project whenever folks get like this. Doing a show is hard. It takes a lot.

But, his fingers are itching to make it. He feels that flutter in his chest, the excitement as he's already imagining the character. Can already think of how they'd work. And, a smaller part of him says that even if it fails, it'll make a lonely boy happy.

"Fine." He sighs, and chuckles at how Karl's eyes light up, "I'll help. And I know who else can help."

His husband is great with connections, after all.

"I think it's great!"

Conall raises his brows, looking over at his husband. He, honestly, was expecting to have to butter him up, get him into the idea. But nope, DJ has his eyes all lit up, that huge grin on his face. The same face he makes when his inspiration is flowing, all those ideas that pop in his head.

"Puppetry is such an underused thing, you know. More shows should use it. And I know the perfect little divas to play the girls." He's already shoving his phone in Conall's face, who huffs and shoves it back a bit before looking.

A picture of two girls and his husband stare back of him. Right, this was for some movie remake, the two girls dressed up in dirty orphan clothes as they smile big. They look so happy, and his husband is laughing next to them. "Their names are Hailey and Bree and they are angels."

DJ also calls their grandkids angels, so Conall is doubtful. He hums in acknowledgement as DJ continues, "And, oh! For the ghost, you said it's gonna be a big puppet?"

"Yeah, will have poles to move it around." He watches as DJ swipes through his photos, stopping at a photo of a man smiling shyly.

"Perfect, Syrus here is real camera shy, but he's an amazing actor, has the best laugh for that ghost fella." And DJ keeps talking, more and more excited as he shows Conall pictures. Already he plans on which calls to make, how to get in touch. There's excitement in those eyes of his, and Conall knows he felt the same tug that Conall felt when talking to Karl.

It, amazingly, goes smoothly. They have actors, a script, a stage that DJ manages to get. It goes so smoothly that Conall is almost dreading it, worried that it'll all be a bust.

But he can't fret on that now, not when he has props. He's already made the ghost, Snatcher, and still feels that warmth from how excited Hailey and Bree got seeing it, and how Syrus was instantly giving the puppet a voice and moving it around. He'd already had to fix the damn thing, thanks to those three playing around.

But, he's glad for it. Because that means it's perfect, being used like that.

He's working on the penguin now, the one his husband voices. And he can't help but put touches of his husband into it. The afro, which he had in high school, the red coat that is DJ's favorite color…

"He's missin' something." He mumbles out loud, squinting at the little bird. It's good, of course, he knows because Bree keeps excitedly coming over to look at it, but...it looks...incomplete.

"Needs shades."

Conall jumps, and curses at DJ, who snuck up on him. The man is smug, a playful glint in his eye as Conall huffs at him.

He glances at the puppet. Sunglasses… "Yeah? What kind?"

"Starry kind, darling, of course." DJ still has his smirk as Conall rolls his eyes and snaps, "Just because you had a pair that one time…"

But...hmm… Conall goes quiet as he looks back at the penguin. He pauses before he reaches for his notebook, looking at the sketch he made before of it. He quickly sketches a pair of starry sunglasses…

Hm...actually, it doesn't look bad. He glances DJ, who is still sitting there all smug, and Conall huffs before he tugs him over by his shirt.

He kisses him, a quick one before he says, "Thanks, love." His husband hums, playing with his hair as he replies with, "Anytime, darlin'."

Making the glasses are easy, as is attaching them. The second he does, DJ is picking it up. "Well, isn't he just a groovy lil guy."

Of course, the puppet is named DJ Grooves by Bree because of that.

The first episode is recorded. Conall still feels that anxiety in the back of his head, about how this is all a waste. But...he spies Timmy watching, wide eyed and enchanted in the audience, as Hailey jumps around on stage, as puppet Mafia Goons run after her. 

The anxiety melts away, as he sees how happy that kid looks. Along with the other kids in the audience, all laughing at the silliness of it.

This show is going to do fine, he decides.

Do you think you could male some hcs for snatch and mj with a s/o who has a messed up sleep schedule? Like theyll stay up late at night and sleep through most of the day?

Ah, so an S/O with a sort of insomnia? Or, like you said, just a messed up sleeping schedule adsfghjk (AKA: Like me, guilty as charged!) And of course! I’ll even throw in some general sleeping HCs with the ghosties for ya!

Both Snatcher and Moonjumper make sure to ask S/O, everyday, if they got enough sleep last night. Snatcher, being the tsundere he is, says he just wouldn’t want them passing out on the job, of course. But both him and Moonjumper want to make sure that S/O is getting the right amount of sleep. If not, both ghosts will drop whatever they’re doing and give S/O some time to rest. They’ll tuck S/O in, if they so desire, or either ghost can just sleep right beside S/O, watching them to make sure they get enough sleep (ghosts don’t necessarily need sleep, but either Snatcher or Moonjumper will fall asleep next to S/O if they feel relaxed enough or if it helps S/O with sleeping)

Both Snatcher and Moonjumper pull out all the works if that’s what it takes for S/O to get to sleep. Moonjumper makes S/O a pillow fort, with star-patterned sheets (that even glow in the dark!) as the roof, and only the fluffiest, coziest pillows and blankets. With a giant heap of pillows inside the fort along with a comfy nest of blankets, Moonjumper offers to tuck S/O in and cuddle next to them while the rest. With Snatcher, he feels like there’s no comfier place than his armchair, having S/O curled up in his lap, wrapped up snugly in a blanket burrito while he reads, or maybe even sing, to them to get them to sleep. But if that isn’t comfortable enough, Snatcher can shapeshift into his full size (which is 20 frickin feet), lay down somewhere comfortable, and just let S/O just sleep on top of him, with him wrapping his arms around them and letting them use his, now almost giant, floof as a pillow.

If S/O keeps themselves up at night because of any electronics (you know who you are, person reading this), Snatcher has a nasty habit of stealing it, whether it be a phone, game console, etc., and hiding it/keeping it hostage until S/O finally gets some decent rest. He never admits to doing it, of course, claiming that S/O must have misplaced it. But isn’t it strange how S/O always manages to find it again once they get enough sleep? Hmm... (also, if S/O is determined enough, Snatcher might just decide to be a mega jerk and switch off the wifi, because of course he would)

If S/O’s sleep deprivation is due to them being an insomniac, Moonjumper, luckily, has a solution to that! I’ve mentioned it briefly before, but Moon actually has the ability to hypnotize! He doesn’t use it often, but if S/O is struggling with getting enough sleep, Moon will offer to hypnotize them so they can rest peacefully. But only if they ask, otherwise, Moonjumper will just offer to sing them to sleep. He’ll hold S/O close in his arms, with them being wrapped up in their favorite blankets, and sing to them softly to lull them to sleep, brushing through S/O’s hair softly and doting over how peaceful they look while they sleep.

Going back to Snatcher, if stealing S/O’s electronics wasn’t enough, he also hides all their stashes of caffeine. Basically, any coffee or caffeinated drinks that S/O usually drinks to keep themselves awake? Yeah, all of those have suddenly disappeared. Snatcher, however, will offer them a substitution with a glass of warm milk, hot cocoa, or tea, usually chamomile tea, instead! (Moonjumper also offers S/O a nice cup of tea if they’re feeling sleepy, but he doesn’t resort to hiding all the caffeine like Snatcher does)

Both ghosts try to get S/O on a decent sleep schedule, setting them a bed time and even giving them napping periods throughout the day. It isn’t easy of course, but they try their best, reminding S/O of when they should get some sleep. Snatcher even stops S/O before they go to complete their contracts, and Moonjumper prepares a sleeping space for S/O if they really need it. And if they really need to, if S/O is too tired to walk properly, Snatcher/Moonjumper will offer to carry S/O, before bringing them to their sleeping space and tucking them in. They’ll leave S/O be until they’ve gotten enough rest, or sleep beside them until the morning comes.

If S/O’s sleep deprivation is due to excessive nightmares or night terrors, both Snatcher and Moonjumper will be by their side in case they wake up. Snatcher/Moonjumper will cradle S/O in their arms and, if it was an especially bad dream, shush them gently and reassure them that everything’s alright and they promise not to leave them. And since the ghosts don’t need to sleep, they’ll offer to stay awake and help S/O if they start having another nightmare (or, in worse case scenario, a case of sleep paralysis), whispering to them that everything will be alright and that they promise to keep them safe.

Alternatively, even though they don’t need sleep, even the ghosts get tired every once and awhile. Snatcher and Moonjumper find it very touching when S/O takes them by the hand, telling them they need some sleep, and even offer to cuddle with them. With Snatcher, he’s always over-working himself, denying that he needs rest and putting his work first. But if S/O forces him to take a nap and offers to rest with him, Snatcher doesn’t hesitate to curl himself around S/O like a snake and finally, finally get some much needed rest, nuzzling against S/O and hugging them close like they were a plushie, purring in his sleep. With Moonjumper, he’ll also try and deny that he needs rest, wanting to spend more time with S/O. But when S/O insists, he’ll admit defeat and sleepily ask for cuddles, cuddling up to S/O’s chest and falling asleep right then and there, because he feels so safe and at peace when they’re in his arms and vise versa. (Both might occasionally mumble S/O’s name in their sleep, smiling and/or giggling afterwards)

(This isn’t an original HC of mine, it belongs to @/fedoraspooky, the inspiration from this post!) Very rarely, Snatcher will shapeshift back into his human form (AKA: The Prince) in his sleep without knowing. The first time S/O mentions it, he denies it, of course. But once he starts becoming more comfortable around them, he’ll accept it and shapeshift into his human form when he want more intimate cuddles, holding them close and sleepily telling them how much he loves them. (He stills purrs when S/O brushes their hands through his hair though, and it’s adorable!)

(Since I’m personally a sucker for Moonjumper having legs) When Moon has legs and he’s sleeping with S/O, sometimes he wraps his legs around theirs in his sleep. Sometimes it’s a bit of an awkward position, especially if the two of them are spooning/cuddling, but it’s also kinda cute! Moonjumper is especially a big hugger and cuddler in his sleep, even though he’s not really aware of it afterwards. And if S/O offer to sleep next to Moonjumper, and they somehow wake up before he does? They’d better prepare to be there for the next hour or so, because Moon will have a tight grip on them in his sleep. On the plus side though, he make the most adorable noises in his sleep, humming and breathing softly (even though he doesn’t need to breath), sometimes nuzzling closer to S/O for warmth and letting out a sigh.

I’m fine talking about it ! Lemme put that under a read more, since it’s going to be pretty long. Also yeah, there are some mentions of torture and violence, some artworks related to that, so if it’s not your cup of tea, I’d advise not to read more. I mean it.

Okay, so the main characters are Lukas (written by @fedoraspooky) and Morgan Jareth (written by me). I have more details regarding the latter since, well, I’m the one writing him, so........ Yeah, I might add more details to him.

Lukas is an alternate version of Spooky’s weresnoodle AU. Instead of having been cursed like in the original AU, here, he was kidnapped by a secret organization and his DNA was changed throught painful and humiliating experiments.

Morgan Jareth was born as a “supernatural” creature, whose powers awoke during his childhood. So yeah, he was kidnapped during his childhood, and his death was faked so no one would look for him.

Basically, he’s part human/part spider, and can create portals to access a particular dimension, called the Horizon (yes I was inspired by SCP 106 for this particular power). He eats humans and his powers allows him to break out of his cell rather easily. He’s a COMPLETE psychopath, he’s a very sadistic person, he isn’t afraid of being punished for his behaviour (he’s already dead inside, as you might say). Since he’s very dangerous and known to kill very easily anyone he encounters, he’s left without much stimulation in his cell, except for the preys given by the scientists to feed him. In any case, he spends most of his time in his alternate dimension. It is only in this dimension that he can turn full spider mode, as you can see in this particular ref sheet I made for him.

When he’s in the human world, only some part of his body can change. For example, he has eyes appearing on his body, the ends of his limbs becoming grey, his fangs becoming longer... Otherwise, in his fully “human” form, here’s what he looks like, basically (featuring one of his portals).

So yeah, what happens is that one day, when Morgan causes a containment breach, he cuts the power of the facility, opening the doors of all the cells (to distract the guards with other aggressive creatures). The thing is, it also opens Lukas’s cell, which is a few levels above Morgan’s (the most dangerous specimens are at the bottom of the facility).

When trying to flee the facility, Lukas eventually runs into Morgan, who doesn’t know immediately that Lukas is an experiment too, except for the fact that they both wear the same medical gown. Morgan first tries to attack him in order to eat him as some kind of snack, but the guards interrupt him, forcing Morgan to retreat in the Horizon, while Lukas is taken by the guards. Morgan doesn’t let that happen for very long and catches Lukas through a portal and takes him into his dimension, with a guard that was unlucky enough not to let go off Lukas.

Long story short, Morgan is in full spider mode, the guard dies very painfully, and Lukas, showing various signs of transformation (linked to his stress), gets Morgan’s full attention and interest. Eventually, Morgan takes a very obsessive interest in Lukas, and decides to keep him as a plaything, or some kind of pet (Morgan has VERY LITTLE respect for humans, he sees them as food and disgusting beings, and another supernatural being is just above that, like a pet to him).

Since his plan of escaping is compromised by the guards being more prepared than what he had first thought, he just decides to cause more chaos and more death before being punished and before coming back to ““play”“ with Lukas. So Lukas ends up tied up to a red spider web while Morgan leaves the Horizon. By using his powers, without actually knowing how to use them, Lukas manages to escape by burning the webs he’s tied to (and thus eventually Morgan’s entire nest) and manages to leave this nightmarish dimension through an artificial portal set up by the scientists.

After being captured and suffering from his usual punishments for escaping, Morgan does come back to his dimension as planned... Only to find out that his nest has been destroyed and that Lukas is not there anymore. So yeah, he... Is absolutely livid and WANTS his revenge (he hates losing, he’s very prideful). So he offers a deal to the scientists, one they can’t refuse : “let me have him and I will stop escaping and killing any of you”. Since Morgan is a real source of trouble and, well, DEATH, they arrange some conditions with him, the most important one is not to kill Lukas (since he’s important to them as a specimen).That’s not a problem to Morgan, since killing Lukas is not what he has planned. But making him suffer and pay ? Oh definitely.

So ““playdates”“ are organized between Morgan and Lukas, to the greatest horror of the latter. Morgan mostly taunts and teases Lukas in them. Both are (in normal circumstances) unable to hurt the other : Morgan has a turret gun targetting him and Lukas has a shock collar, preventing him from provoking Morgan and, thus, making the latter go berserk. Although, when Lukas does provoke Morgan or try to hurt him despite the shock collar, the scientists give more freedom to Morgan, who... Well, takes a very, very cruel and twisted pleasure in hurting Lukas.

That leads to various tortures, some physical and some psychological. One of them, for example, has Morgan breaking some of Lukas’s fingers. Yeah, I told you about the violence, this RP is pretty dark. Here’s the artwork I’m currently working on, related to that particular part of the RP.

Other times, Morgan will like to hunt Lukas down in the Horizon, as some kind of predator/prey game he enjoys very much (plot twist : Lukas DOES NOT enjoy those, unsurprisingly ahaha)

That’s the story so far, and yeah, Lukas does NOT have a good time in this AU (though it does have a good ending, and the part inside the facility is just the half of this RP, since Spooky and I planned an after-story outside of the facility).
