Fitbit Inspire 2 Unboxing and Setup 🙃

so who wants hear the saga of my fitbit?

too bad you're gonna.

So once upon a time (a few summers ago) my best friend mentioned that her fitbit monitored her pulse and so she could track the panic attack she'd had. And I was like 'that sounds super cool; I've been thinking about getting one to track my sleep cycle.' and she gave me one for my birthday

I immediately went to Pennsic War wearing it, giving it a rather inflated idea of how much I move any given day. (your steps go higher when it's like a hundred yards to the bathroom)

I watched the sleep tracking with a great deal of interest, using it to remind me to go to bed eariler and get up sooner. Naps became amusing somehow.

I discovered my base pulse is kind of high, but my father was like that so I'm not concerned.

This went on for the next couple years, with a brief interlude where I put it someplace and forgot about it. But I'd gone back to wearing it all the time (I'd also seen my mother's sleep cycle and stopped feeling good about my sleep. Did you know people get more than an hour of deep sleep a night? Weird.) so much that my favorite band broke. I got a new one, and for good measure, ordered another set.

And went off to Pennsic again, changing the rainbow elastic I'd finally gotten for a black band with a buckle and a pierced rose pattern.

this was a mistake. because the buckle started irritating me. not to put it delicately, but the last time I saw my fitbit was when I was carrying the recycling to the recycling dumpster (a good distance away) and since my hands were full I scratched the itchy band with my teeth with all the delicacy of a wolf trying to chew it's leg off to escape a trap.

I figure it fell in the dumpster while I was throwing away the trash, because dispite my best efforts of retracing my steps (several times) I never saw it agian.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm gonna get a new one. I bet replacing it exactly (fitbit inspire2) which would allow me to use the bands and charger I already own would be cheaper than getting the newest one. I kind of miss knowing how much sleep I'm actually getting. it's very affirming. (no it wasn't in your head you slept like shit. No, you really did just sleep until noon. you weren't' just lying in bed)

my only worry is that doing that will make it show up somehow, which would be a fuckin' good trick.

左から 2号FitbitOne (調達日 記録無し) 3号FitbitOne (調達日 記録無し) 4号FitbitAlta　(調達日2017/12/24) 5号Fitbit Inspire 3　(調達日2023/07/15) スマートウォッチとしての機能は不要なので(そもそも腕時計を着けたく無い）、調達するのは毎回リストバンドの取り外しが可能なトラッカー(所謂活動量計）。歴代トラッカー本体の大きさは然程変わらず。スーツ着るときには、スーツの袖口にトラッカーのリストバンドは格好悪いので、専用ホルダーに入れてポケットに収納します。機能的には一世代古い Inspire2でも十分だったんですが、今回始めてカラー液晶搭載型にしました。お陰で晴天の真っ昼間でもくっきり画面が確認出来て快適ですね。5号も5年位はお世話になりましょう。 ＊1号以前はオムロンとかタニタとかの万歩計使っていた ＊1号は水没して現存せず(調達日2013/07/31) ＊2号は表示はしないけど動作する。サポセンの神対応で無償で3号を送って貰った。 ＊3号の電池が一日位しか持たなくなったので4号調達 ＊4号の電池が一日位しか持たなくなったので5号調達
