Late night drive ~ Matt Sturniolo

It was another normal day you had spent with your favourite people. The triplets had been filming a vlog during the day, which you appeared in as well since it was just all of you going out and about. You had loved the day with the guys and as usual, planned on spending the night at their place.

However, the past few weeks, you have struggled with your sleep. You knew the guys would stay up till the early hours of the morning before sleeping until the next day, which you would also do. But recently you have been staying up longer than the boys and sometimes not sleeping at all.

You tried to pin point what the cause of it could be. You knew work had been stressful lately and your anxiety had been going up and down, you also didn't want to burden the guys, knowing they had their own things going on.

So here you were. Another night of probably little to no sleep. It had just turned 5am and you were sat on the sofa scrolling through your phone. You hadn't slept the day before, so you were hoping all the scrolling would help you doze off.

"Hey."

You jump slightly as you see Matt walk in from his room, wearing a white t-shirt and blue pyjama bottoms.

"Hey." You replied quietly.

"Your still awake." Matt stated as he walked over, his white socks silent on the floor.

"Um, yeah. I was about to go to sleep." You lied, trying to make it look like you were setting the sofa up to sleep.

"One, you always sleep in either mine or Nick's bed and two, your a terrible liar." He said, crossing his arms across his chest.

"Just can't sleep." You mumbled, playing with your phone.

"For how long?" He asked softly.

"Few weeks." You admitted.

"Why didn't you tell us?" He asked, sitting next to you.

"I didn't want to burden you with it. You all have your own things going on." You answered.

"Kid, your our best friend, my best friend. If your struggling you know I'm always here for you, so are Nick and Chris." He said gently.

"I know, I'm sorry." You apologised.

"Don't be sorry. How about a drive?" He suggests.

"You sure?" You asked, worried about his own sleep.

"Positive, come on." He answered, pulling you up of the sofa.

You both slipped some shoes on as Matt grabbed the keys off the hanger as you both got into the car, Matt starting the engine as he drove off.

It was quiet in the car, music played softly at a low volume. You looked out the window as Matt just drove, not having a particular place in mind.

After an hour of driving, Matt glanced at you to see your eyes slowly closing. He smiled knowing you had finally started to drift off to sleep, so he began driving home.

When he parked up in the garage and turned the engine off, Matt looked over to see you fully asleep now. He got out and slowly picked you up, being careful not to wake you as he carried you to his bedroom and taking your shoes off. He kicked his own off before laying besides your sleeping form.

"Night sweetheart." He whispered, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead.

"Unnie, I can dance. Please just let me go" You cough out, sitting up slowly. You had woken up with a headache but you didn't think anything of it, at least until you started to cough. And cough, and cough. Enough to get JiU's attention, and worry her.

"Baby no, we can take today off. It's okay" She says, climbing in bed with you. "We're gonna lay here until you feel better," She says, pulling the blanket back over the both of you, rolling you into her side. "Go to sleep baby, you'll feel better when you wake up"

A few hours later, JiU woke up to empty arms, missing your warmth. She climbs out of bed to see you lying beside SuA, cuddled into her chest. "What are you doing?" She asks, eyes darting between the two of you. "We're watching a movie unnie, you were asleep and I didn't want to wake you so I came out here with SuA unnie," you say softly, scared that your girlfriend is mad at you. "Oh okay, well ill leave you two to watch your movie then" JiU mumbles, walking off.

When the movie finished, you sit up to find your girlfriend. not finding her anywhere, you walk into the kitchen where you find Yoohyeon sitting on the counter eating. "Unnie, have you seen Jiu?" you ask, opening your mouth for a bite of her food. "No I havent" she replies, feeding you a spoon full of cereal. Nodding in understanding, you walk out of the kitchen, still in search of your love.

After checking in your shared bedroom, your shared bathroom, and the main bathroom, you give up and call her. "where are you?" you ask, exasperated. "Out" she replies curtly. "oh well when will you be back?" "soon" Fed up with one-word answers, you cut the goodbyes short, and hang up. with tears filling your eyes, you walk around the dorm until you bump into Dami. shedding tears, you fill her in on everything. Somehow you end up in her bed, with her holding you as you cry.

hours pass as you wait for jiu to return. finally hearing the creek of the front door, you jump up to run to her. "Unnie, I missed you. I'm so sorry for everything I did. please don't be mad." You cry out, tears running down your face. "I'm not mad beautiful, I was the one in the wrong. you didn't feel good, I should have let you be with who you felt good with. I'm sorry. how about I go run you a bath and help you unwind?" she says, pulling you into her.

"I would love that" you mumble into her neck, happy to have her back.

Write the Year 2024—Week 49: Late-Night Talkshit

This is a very dumb Minute Poem about insomnia. Not even my insomnia, but a circle-of-hell text chain with my siblings about my mother’s insomnia. Basically, I am now trapped 24/7 in one of the shitty supposed-to-have-been-a-solution-but-deeply-fucked-me-up-way-worse-than-I-was-before-I-ever-sought-a-solution-and-I-will-never-even-get-back-to-before-I-got-fucked-up-by-it sessions. Idk what prompts my body to keep me up when I wake up early some days and barely rouses me to pee others, but I don't really appreciate it because it leaves me half dead the majority of the day. I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON I AM BASICALLY CREPUSCULAR

Midnight Monsters

A local indy jazz band, The Monsters, has opened a nightclub in my basement. Patrons groove to their cool rhythms and riffs until wee early-morning hours despite my tireless pleas to take their tunes to more neighborly venues.

I'm going to break this into two separate posts because I think it deserves as such

My friends and I spent MANY hours in a discord call, watching all five Insidious movies back to back. This resulted in half the party falling asleep by the end of it, and the insomniacs staying awake the whole time, heavily judging and criticizing the character, as you do.

Panda (Pink Hair) ended up falling asleep halfway through the 3rd movie and woke back up nearing the end of the 5th. Sun (Green Hoodie,) who was streaming the movies fell asleep in the beginning of the 5th and woke back up around 5 minutes before the movie ended. Breeze (Puppy Slippers) and I (Skull Pants) stayed up the entire time, and then fell asleep wayyy too late into the morning. We make WONDERFUL decisions as you can see :]

Anyway, I drew the line art and the base colors, and then my best friend did the heavier coloring and the lighting (because she's friggen amazing at it) and this is hour that turned out \o/

The difference between dream and ink is dream forces himself awake, and ink doesn't. Ink just struggles to sleep and doesn't really need to? Dream doesn't either, but the mental toll of his job often exhausts him. In my head, ink would need sleep eventually but just not as frequently as maybe normal skeletons would. Error actually has okay sleeping habits, better than the other two. Not that he doesn't have his own issues, but he sleeps far more often than the other two. He sleeps less often than classic, though.
