Match Review: Norwich City U21s 3-5 Manchester United U21s

This was a proper ding-dong contest, and United came out on top. Noice.

The star of the game and second half was substitute Ethan Wheatley, who came on for Ethan Ennis and proceeded to bag a hat-trick. Not a bad way to keep yourself in the mind of Erik Ten Hag...

Norwich almost weaseled their way into a lead inside 15 seconds, charging straight at United down the right flank from kick off.

United's high press, overlapping full back style was in full force against the Canaries - cue a counter attack in the 5th minute which even at full tilt, Harry Amass couldn't intercept. The cross came in from the right wing and perfectly to Errol Mundle-Smith who bundled home between Fredricson and Jackson.

Thankfully United have Ethan Williams in the side, with the tricky winger darting into space to collect a loose ball from Norwich and driving through their hesitant defence to coolly shoot over the top of the outcoming keeper and into the roof of the net. Clinical. 1-1.

While both teams would pepper their goals a bit more to round out the first half, the second half was the real Wild West.

Substitute Wheatley got his first in the 48th minute with a gentle tap-in off a nice low drilled cross from Williams.

Three minutes later and Malachi Sharpe would steal a loose ball off Norwich, play the one-two with Dan Gore, and then slot past the Norwich keeper to make it 1-3 United.

A scuffle broke out in the 60th minute between Finley McAllister and Errol Mundle-Smith over not a lot; McAllister almost walked into Smith, Smith shoved him in the chin, so McAllister rightly got in his face asking wtf that was. A storm in a teacup quickly resolved by respective teammates before anyone got into serious trouble.

Norwich continued to test Hubert Graczyk, but a poor pass from right-back Harmony Okwumo went straight to United and straight on the break, with Ruben Curley playing a lovely ball into acres of space for Ethan Wheatley, who then skipped his man and chipped the keeper for 4-1.

Luck would finally turn and reward Norwich for their efforts, with a lovely goal from a deep free kick in the 88th minute tapped home by Daniel Ogwuru Ogwuru and then a fantastic curling effort from no9 Finley Welch to make it 3-4.

United did come close in the 90th minute with an Ethan Williams free-kick on the edge of the Norwich box, but it was City's heavy commitment to that 4th goal and the equaliser that allowed United to counter off a corner, with star boy Ethan Wheatley at the heart of not only winning the loose ball at 2nd bobble, but also running against two strong challenges and side footing home from the edge of the box to secure his hat-trick in dramatic fashion.

there's a lot not being explained. Mostly gives off the impression that the folks living in-universe dont really care to learn more than they have to about anything outside of killing kaiju to their detriment i'd say like 99% of the kaiju in this setting seem to act and think just as wild critters. You can learn the behavior of critters and use that to yer advantage

like find out how kaiju communicate with eachother and you may be able to create something that deters them from emerging in populated areas
