obviously referring to asians with "rat" isn't on par with using actual anti-asian slurs, but it is nonetheless a term to be wary of due to the associated derogatory nature of anti-japanese propaganda (particularly around + fallout of ww2). i find it extremely distasteful to then label japanese people and characters as "rats" regardless of the proposed affectionate connotations - even done in ignorance, the weight remains. it's not dissimilar to when people allude to black people (and asians as well, quite honestly) with any variation of "monkey" where its use commonly implies something inherently dehumanizing. you may not be saying jap outright, but to exclusively associate a japanese person or character with rats, or to refer to yourselves as rat fans, invokes the times where that caricaturistic depiction was common.

18. Do they view their relationship as temporary or permanent?

it takes a long time as in, a few years-- for either of them to either realise or admit it, but they do eventually view it as permanent!! the realisation was less of a positive epiphany and more of a moment of fear inducing panic for both of them tho.

between both of them being aroace, terrible at communicating, grace's "100 unpacked issues about victorian era marriage culture," & twitch's "got out of the cage gardens 5 minutes ago and has no idea how to navigate a relationship"???

yeah they both freaked it the minute they went from "i kind of like hanging around them" to "i could be around them basically forever." but they kept going back to eachother everytime anyway. 😌

22. When were they the most vulnerable with each other?

i guess this is obvious but for grace it's being pulled out of the arctic since, lowest point of his life Ever (though i guess he didn't have much choice in that one actually. hm)

and for twitch it's being looked after during their honey headaches, telling grace about their time in the cage gardens & taking their glasses off around him (which they Do have a choice in! and they chose grace)

for less obvious ones,,,i think they're unexpectedly reassuring to eachother. twitch gets frustrated fairly easily, and a lot of the time it's over their memory issues/inconsistencies. grace is the only person who knows the full extent of why, and so he's the only person who can really listen (or just sit with them while they calm down)

on the other side, grace has the exact level of trauma you would expect a guy who watched 80 people slowly deteriorate & die to have (a lot!). he has nightmares, triggers, recurring flashbacks & memories, he can't sleep. twitch isn't incredible at comfort (they're learning) but they try to reassure him, at least.

basically for two emotionally challenged guys who usually isolate at the first sign of distress, their biggest vulnerability is 1: being known and 2: letting themselves be helped (or comforted) about it

here's the good news... it's got my full attention now that pirates is officially published

the chapter as it stands is a bit of a Mess right now and it needs a lot of work. i am so excited for it though and i desperately want to get it done and out into the world, i knowwwww y'all will love it. i don't want to make any promises, but im really really trying to have it done well before season 3. i think that's totally doable, so fingers crossed

here are some little details about alve and margot's wedding to hopefully drum up some excitement:

the ceremony takes place at oscarskyrkan and the reception is at grand hôtel

wille has three significant convos with characters we haven't really interacted with in tomt yet before he gets a chance to talk to simon
