Kaleesh Week Day 3 - Demigod

An animated short, based off of the last couple lines of If All Goes Well, which I now know of, thanks to @inonibird's Qymaen jai Sheelal playlist (if you haven't taken a listen yet, I highly recommend it, it's been a huge inspiration to me in all my Qymaen musings)

More specifically the last couple of lines--

You see, thing that gets me about about the Kaleesh concept of demigod is that it's both a blessing, to elevate another of your kin to godhood, while they still walk among you-- it demonstrates love, admiration, hope that they may bring about a better future-- and yet a the same time, it seems a curse. I mean, damn, how hard must it be to not only have the entirety of your populace looking to you to lead, but to also be expected not to really screw up because demigods don't do that (not to say there isn't a conception of gods/demigods making mistakes in most Kaleesh cultures, but it's still a Bad Thing that Doesn't Happen Often).

In the EU canon, there's a line that has stayed with me-- Qymaen never really agreed to become Grievous, not until his wives and children were led before him. I think that line's expected reading is that, when he saw them, he was moved to realize how much Kalee (and he) had to lose by refusing San Hill's deal. However-- I wonder if, along with that, there was also his demigod-hood among the Kaleesh to consider. What would it do to them to see their champion beaten, his body broken-- and by a shuttle crash, no less? At least discarding the remains of his Kaleesh body, the ideal of Qymaen jai Sheelal, the dreamer, the demigod was preserved. Even if it destroyed the man himself.

But that was the price that Qymaen was willing to pay.

I just finished reading @inonibird series of fic "Sahuldeem", about General Grievous's origin story from youth to his new cybernetic body and let me tell you, as a Star Wars lover and worldbuilding fan, it's a delight to read. I spent so many nights imagining the scenes as I devoured each chapter, having fun reading and feeling so much stuff (of course I cried).

I had songs in mind as I read and after listening to your playlist, I wanted to share them (headphones recommended !).

I…miss my Izvoshra. I wish they had died well, in battle, not blown apart helplessly in a sabotaged shuttle. If I hadn’t insisted…then they might still…” The readings on the amygdaloid implants escalated all at once—though merely at a fraction of prior output—as his hands formed abrupt, tight fists. “But I will avenge them. I will kill every last Jedi I meet. I’ll cut them to pieces with their own blades. My people were never shown mercy; I will pay them back in kind.”

Yet there was no shouting, no ranting, no growling or snarling; just steely resolve. Zorryx took another troubled note. “You seem quite…how shall I put it…focused,” he cautiously said.

“Pah. I feel distracted.”

A consequence of uninhibited episodic and autobiographical memory access. “But there’s no pain in your head right now?” the doctor pressed. “There oughtn’t be.”

The duranium skull tilted. “No. You’re right. There is no pain. So was that the point of your maintenance? You’ve finally fixed the overload?”

“I have addressed the overload problem, yes,” Zorryx evaded. 

Whether it was fixed remained to be seen.

Got Baldur’s Gate 3 and the first thing I do is spend 40+ minutes on customizing characters so they resemble kaleesh.

This is my best attempt to recreate Ronderu by @inonibird. Although there is a wide range of hair style and tattoos to choose from it’s still not 100% accurate XD (can you believe there’s no buns for female characters???) But I did try to go for the tattoos that looks like her mask’s stripe pattern.

I know it’s a DnD game but what if, what if Ronderu didn’t die in that battle, but instead get Isekai-ed to the Forgotten Realms?!

- when naming the character I was thinking: should I just call her Ronderu? Or something else? Maybe a nickname sounds better?

- and I end up typing Ronron<3

- can’t wait to see my friend’s reaction when we team up lol (friend: who’s Ronron?? Me: it’s a Star Wars reference ;))

Hello everyone!

I've been inspired to make a playlist in honor of Ronderu Lij Kummar — one of my favorite Star Wars characters of all time. (If you can't guess based off of her, my other favorite is Qymaen, or General Grievous) The playlist follows in order of her backstory as imagined and written by @inonibird

Please take a look at their work, as it is absolutely stunning. Inonibird also has a playlist that follows the same chronology for General Grievous! It is linked under their pinned post.

I’d like to recommend Sahuldeem by the intimidatingly talented inonibird. General Grievous’ backstory is not one that has been explored in great detail, and this epic saga paints a rich portrait. The supporting characters, canonical and original, are very fun and memorable— their characterization of Ronderu lij Kummar is someone I desperately want to hang out with in real life, it’s INSANE how much I miss this murderous cyborg’s dead girlfriend. The art on their blog is also incredible and I’m super jealous of their drawing skills and also their prose. I think the coolest thing about it is how much it feels like its own universe in the beginning, and transitions masterfully into familiar Star Wars territory the more the main characters are exposed to the wider galaxy. The mix of genres is just so neat

THIS IS SUCH A COOL CONCEPT. I always wanted more about General Grievous because WHAT A COOL GUY, and I love that the author is taking the liberty to really delve into his backstory. And to ALSO DO ART? How does it feel to have talent OOZING FROM YOUR PORES, @inonibird???? This is such a neat rec! Thanks so much for sending it in!
