Tumblr media
Why Choose Direct Fill Ball Pens?
Direct fill ball pens are designed to address some of the most common frustrations with traditional pens. Unlike standard refillable or disposable pens, direct fill pens have ink reservoirs that provide a continuous, smooth flow of ink. This mechanism ensures that your writing remains consistent without any interruptions, making them ideal for those who value efficiency and quality in their writing tools.
The major benefit of direct fill long lasting ball pens lies in their reliability. These pens are designed to last longer than standard pens, reducing the need for frequent replacements. This can be a huge time-saver, particularly for professionals who use pens daily. The design of these pens also allows for ink that flows evenly, preventing blotches, smears, or skips. If you’ve ever experienced the frustration of writing with a pen that doesn’t flow smoothly, you’ll understand why these pens are the go-to choice for many.
Additionally, the unique design of direct fill pens ensures that you’re getting high-quality ink in every stroke. The ink is more consistent, ensuring crisp and clean lines, ideal for both formal and informal writing.
The Benefits of Direct Fill Long Lasting Ball Pens
Smooth and Consistent Writing One of the most significant advantages of direct fill ball pens is their smooth writing experience. The ink flows evenly from the pen to the paper, which minimizes interruptions. This ensures that you won’t have to stop and shake or adjust your pen to get it to work. Whether you are signing important documents or jotting down ideas, direct fill ball pens provide effortless writing that keeps you moving forward.
Extended Use with Less Refilling Direct fill pens offer a longer-lasting ink supply compared to traditional pens. This means fewer refills and more time spent writing. This feature is especially beneficial for people who write regularly, such as business professionals, writers, students, and anyone who needs to rely on their pen day in and day out.
Durable Design Another key benefit of direct fill ball pens is their durable construction. These pens are built to withstand daily use, meaning you won’t have to worry about them breaking, leaking, or becoming damaged after a few uses. Whether you’re tossing the pen in your bag or using it for long writing sessions, these pens are made to last.
Cost-Effective in the Long Run While direct fill pens may have a slightly higher upfront cost, they are more cost-effective over time. Because they last longer and require fewer replacements, you save money in the long run. If you are purchasing pens for an office or workplace, this can result in significant savings over time.
Environmentally Friendly Direct fill pens are a more sustainable option compared to disposable pens. Since they last longer and require fewer replacements, they contribute less to landfill waste. Choosing long-lasting pens that reduce the need for constant disposal aligns with a more eco-friendly approach.

Okay, it's time I contribute something to the bookbinding hobby!
Everyone, here are some transparent pngs of flowers for you to use in your personal bookbinding projects! Fanfics, original stuff, classic lit, journals, whatever it is you do with your fancy papers and your heavy weights, these are for you.
Rules and info below the cut, so please read carefully! (plus links to more dividers)
The graphics are on the small side, and not vectorized, so they won't look very good if you blow them up. They were made with the intent of being placed between lines of text or at the top of chapters.
The light grey versions are ink-savers. They were run over with a screentone. They aren't very sharp-looking, but if you're tight on ink and staring down a 300-page longfic, they'll get you where you need to go.
(If you're curious - they're sakura, sunflowers, and roses, and the graphics are 100% my own creation.)
Rules: These are for individuals and indie creators only - no big box publishers. You can sell what you make with them, but you can't sell the graphics themselves. (However, if you're so moved with gratitude that you'd like to pay me, my patreon is right here.) You can recolor them, or edit them however you need for your projects. You don't have to credit me, but it would be a nice gesture.
You may not use these to promote bigotry or crypto BS. I can't stop you, but if you do, you won't be my friend anymore and you can't come to my birthday party.
Hope they come in handy! If you use them, I wanna see!

GIFT .
Genre : Brother-in-law Jungkook x OC!
Warnings : Yandere Jungkook! Non Consent. Manipulative behaviour. Explicit Sexual Content, Violence, Murder
Author's Note : I love reading Yandere fics so I just wanted to write one!! Its very different from what I usually write... So proceed with caution.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first time I met Jungkook , it was five years into my relationship with Namjoon.
Namjoon had told me all about his baby brother, a final year student in SNU. Jungkook majored in Business , training to take over the company business . Namjoon often mentioned that it was Jungkook's offer to switch majors that had helped him pursue his own dream of being a music producer.
So when he told me that Jungkook was on a break from university and his parents were looking forward to having a proper family dinner with all of us, I was excited to meet the boy , I'd heard so much about. Namjoon was endlessly fond of his little brother and I wanted him to like me just as much.
Namjoon and I had met seven years earlier in the University Library and had become fast friends. We were both quiet, intellectually driven individuals, preferring to spend our time in the library as opposed to partying with our friends. And yet, in a twist , against our family’s wishes, we had chosen not to pursue an academically driven career either. I’d always felt out of place in my own friend group, most of my friend from Journalism being extroverted and fun loving. Namjoon for his part had only two very close friends, Yoongi and Hoseok and preferred spending time by himself as well.
So it was only natural that we fell in with each other with ease. His beautiful dimpled smile tugged on my gut, even as his gentle nature and gorgeous mind made my heart pound. I fell in love with him, between the late night laughter in the library and the soft secrets whispered against my skin, in the privacy of his bed.
“Nervous?” His voice drew me to the present, fingers inking with mine as he lightly knocked his shoulders against mine, staring down at me with a dimpled smile. I shook my head quickly, squeezing his hand gently.
“Of course not. I just want him to like me.” I whispered and Namjoon chuckled.
“Jungkookie isn’t very expressive so don’t worry if he isn’t very vocal in his affections. He’s very shy with new people but I’m sure, he’ll love you.” Namjoon reached out and lightly, brushed the hair off my face before leaning down and giving me a quick kiss.
I gripped his waist, pressing in closer, lips parting instinctively  , eager to chase the taste of him. He groaned and gripped my elbow, pulling me around to press up against the tall , lean strength of his body and this was it, this endless need to touch him even after seven whole years of being together. I moaned when he bit down on my lips, my back arching a bit to press into him.
“Hyung?”
We parted, surprised and I felt my face flame, lips slicked wet and no doubt red from where Joon’s teeth had sunk in.
What a first impression.
“Ahh… Jungkook-ah… You came out?” Namjoon looked a little flustered, dimples peeking out in an abashed smile as he laughed embarrassedly I found myself smiling at Jungkook, who looked nothing like I’d imagined.
I’d been expecting someone cute and friendly.
Jungkook was dressed in all black, tall and intimidating. He was also almost surreally beautiful, gaze piercing and steady as he stared at me. I felt an instinctive urge to hide, not missing the way his gaze trailed up and down my body, lips parting gently to reveal a pair of bunny teeth that looked jarringly adorable on a face that was , quite simply put, arrestingly gorgeous.
He hummed, still standing in the doorway, eyes trained on me and I swallowed when he smiled , wide and open. His tongue darted out, lightly licking his lower lip .
“Hi, Hana.” He said softly and I startled.
“Hana? I’m sure you mean noona…..” I laughed nervously and even Namjoon looked surprised and Jungkook merely smiled, shrugging.
“You don’t feel like a noona.” He said casually.
I merely stared at him, not sure what he meant. Namjoon laughed a little as well, moving over to lightly hug his brother.
“Yah! You’ve just met her. Isn’t it too soon to start being a brat?” He ruffled his hair playfully before turning to me.
“Come on, Hana. Come say hi to my parents.” Namjoon walked in and I rushed to follow him, pausing when I reached the doorway. I smiled at Jungkook, holding a hand out slowly.
“I’ve heard so much about you Jungkook, I hope we can be friends…” I said sincerely and he stared at my hand, not taking it. Instead he gave me another soft smile. Before leaning down and pressing a kiss to the back of my hand, making me jump .
“You don’t feel like a friend either.” He said with a shrug , before moving away, leaving me stunned on the doorway.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two years later :
“Seven months? Namjoon we’re getting married in seven months! How am I supposed to plan a whole wedding , with you away from the country?” I asked desperately, watching as Namjoon sat with his head in his hands. He looked stricken, regretful and pained and I felt terrible for being unreasonable but it was impossible not to feel hurt.
“I know..  I know hana, I’m so fucking sorry. But this is such a huge opportunity and its not just me : Hoseok and Yoongi depend on me. I can’t screw things up for them too.” He whispered and I exhaled.
Namjoon had been offered a chance to produce for a very high end recording label based out of the US and they wanted him to stay there for a minimum of seven months. The offer had been a complete surprise, out of the blue and the timing couldn’t have been worse. I’d been accepted into an internship at a popular magazine and it would be impossible for me to go with him. And I was so desperate to go.
We’d never been apart for more than a few days, in the entirety of our relationship and the thought of not seeing him for months made me want to throw up.
“I’ve spoken to Jungkook. He’ll help you with all the things that have to be done. And I swear that I’ll be back at least a month before the date, alright? No matter what happens.” Namjoon said firmly. I swallowed, nodding nervously.
It was true that I didn’t like the idea of being away from Namjoon. But the thought of keeping him away from a dream that he had worked so hard for, was almost unfathomable.
Besides, Jungkook was reliable and sweet. The perfect gentleman. Especially now that he’d taken over as his father’s Executive Assistant, Jungkook was incredibly good at organizing and planning things out.
With his help, I could plan out our wedding to perfection.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next five months were spent in a haze of appointments and fittings and bookings. Jungkook had arranged for a shift in my internship hours, so he and I could spend a solid four hours every day, visiting different vendors, picking out the perfect floral arrangements, napkins, brocade and what not. And for once, I found myself completely enthralled by the idea of spending money of frivolously pretty things. Whether it was the florists or the patisserie, the dress fitting or the invitations, I felt my excitement bubbling over , amazed because marrying into Namjoon’s family meant an unlimited budget and for once, I didn’t mind being extravagant.
What was more, I didn’t miss Namjoon nearly as much as I thought I would. Because deep down , I knew that he wouldn’t have enjoyed this all that much. And I would have felt guilty , dragging him everywhere.
And Jungkook was the one to thank for all of it. He picked me up everyday for an early breakfast , followed by hours of combing the streets for ideas and appointments. He was funny and enthusiastic, eager to help me in every way and I was so grateful that I couldn’t thank him enough.
“I owe you so much, Kookie. You’ve been a life saver.” I groaned, collapsing on the couch and dropping my head back against the backrest. Jungkook chuckled, sitting down on one of the Turkish ottomans and lightly grabbing my ankle, pulling my foot onto his lap. I flushed a little, still not used to how touchy he was.
Jungkook liked wrapping his arms around my waist when we were out and about, fingers fluttering up my sides or brushing hair off my face with easy familiarity. I didn’t mind. He reminded me of my little brother back in Ilsan.
Most of the people we met assumed he was the groom and Jungkook told me it would be better to keep up the ruse because wedding planners were more comfortable when couples came together and I’d agreed, albeit a little reluctantly. I missed Namjoon and I wondered if he would mind. But when I mentioned it in passing to him during one of our daily video calls, he’d merely laughed it off.
“You’re so tense, Hana. You should relax. Everything is going to be okay.” Jungkook said softly, soft fingers digging into the curve of heel before brushing the arch of my foot. I smiled when he tugged my foot close, placing it down on the firmness of his thigh.
I gazed down at him, feeling uncomfortably nervous. This whole thing seemed oddly intimate somehow and I felt the first tendrils of guilt begin to curl around my gut. I swallowed, hating myself for tainting something that was no doubt innocent. I ought to be grateful that my future brother in law was this kind to me.
“I know. Thank you. I just miss him sometimes.” I said softly. The fingers stilled on my foot.
“Only sometimes?” He teased, eyes narrowed and tone just a little colder and I hesitated.
“I don’t miss him when you keep me company. You help me forget that I’m doing all of this by myself.” I said honestly. Jungkook inhaled sharply, his gaze flicking to mine, holding mine with an intensity that made me balk a little.
“You mean, that?” He asked quietly and I laughed at how serious he looked.
“Of course I do.  I was so sure this whole thing would be me being miserably lonely but you’ve kept me laughing and happy. I’m going to ask Namjoon to buy you something expensive and amazing when he comes back.”
“He already has something amazing. It’s the only thing I really want.” Jungkook said quietly, fingers stroking up, gently massaging my foot all the way up my calf. I groaned at how good it felt.
“Really what is it?” I asked curious.
Jungkook squeezed my knee before carefully placing my foot down , reaching for the other one.
“You’ll know soon, Hana.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
True to his word, Namjoon called me exactly a month before our wedding date.
“Guess who’s leaving the God forsaken place this weekend?”
I felt warmth flood my insides, heart racing with pure joy, tears brimming over because I’d honestly resigned myself to the fact that he wouldn’t be able to make it back on time.
“Monday i, I’ll be there. Can’t wait to kiss you, my love.” He whispered and I nodded, laughing.
Finally, Everything would be okay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Namjoon’s flight was due to arrive late night ,somewhere between twelve and one in the morning. I’d taken a nap in the afternoon, so I could be up to welcome him back. Jungkook arrived at around seven with Takeout and flowers.
He didn’t ring the doorbell, letting himself in with the spare key I’d given him for emergencies. I found myself scrambling for my robe because I’d taken a nice long shower and slipped on a silk negligee, short and ending just over my knees . I could feel his eyes on me as I hastily tied the sash together, flustered. The robe wasn’t long either and I felt absolutely exposed, even worse than when he’d stepped into the dressing room during my fitting, offering to help me with the zipper.
“ Jungkook, what are you doing here?” I asked nervously and he shrugged, eyes still trailing over my legs, the skin bare. I felt his gaze like a caress and some instinct told me I was in danger. I shook my head to clear it. How ridiculous.
This was Jungkook. Sweet, wonderful Jungkookie. My best friend these past few months. There was no one else I could be safer with.
“I knew you’d be excited, what with hyung coming back and all. So, I thought I’d drop by and at least make sure you’re well fed.” He grinned, holding the tae out up. I smiled and nodded, moving to get plates and glasses from the kitchen.
I heard Jungkook moving around in the living room and when I went back in , I found that he had two glasses of wine ready on the table, an expensive bottle of merlot opened nearby. I smiled a bit, shaking my head.
“What are we celebrating?” I asked curiously and he shrugged.
“Namjoon hyung is coming back right? It means I’ll be getting my amazing gift tonight.” He said softly, picking his glass up and taking a sip and I rolled my eyes.
“You’re such a child. You can’t wait for a day to get your gift?”
Jungkook hummed. He looked ethereal in the dim golden light of the apartment. Like something out of a fairytale. All dark ebony hair and porcelain skin. I wondered, again….why he never dated. He was easily one of the most beautiful humans I’d ever seen in my life. And that voice.
The voice of an angel.
“I’ve been waiting for years, Hana. I’m sick and tired of waiting.” He said softly, voice low and eyes somehow dark and I tried to hold my smile.
“Well, I hope you enjoy it.” I grinned and he smiled, all teeth.
“Oh, I intend to. Thoroughly.”
I took my own glass and took a deep sip , before holding it against his.
“To no longer waiting and finally getting what we want.” I said cheerfully, thinking of the long months without Namjoon and the few hours till he would be back in my arms. Jungkook chuckled and clinked his glass against mine.
“To you, Hana.” He said simply and I blushed, surprised and flattered.
We ate the take out but just a few bites in, I felt my eyes getting heavy which was so unfair. It was barely eight. And I’d slept in the afternoon. What was wrong with me? I was supposed to be up till Namjoon came home.
“You alright, love?” Jungkook asked sweetly , getting out of his chair and making his way over when I almost knocked the glass of water over, fingers trembling. I pouted, even as his fingers curled over my shoulders, gripping lightly.
“Why am I so drowsy?” I whined in desperation and he leaned down, lightly resting his chin on my shoulder.
“You need to rest, hana. Come on, let’s get you to bed…. “
Eyes heavy and limbs turning to jelly, I could barely blink as he reached down and scooped me into his arms , carrying me into the bedroom. I felt his fingers tug on the sash of my robe, a protest building up at the action but he shushed me gently.
“I’m just helping you out of this, Hana. Rest now… Namjoon hyung will be here soon and we have a long night ahead of us, you and I.”
I could feel my mind churn at that, confusion warring with apprehension because why was Jungkook inserting himself in tonight? What did he have to do with Namjoon and I ?
Sleep beckoned and I found myself slipping into the darkness before I could fully ponder on his words.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up sweaty and damp , body overheated and my head foggy. I made to move and felt my heart pound when I realized my hands were tied up to the headboard. I blinked, only to be met with darkness because there was something tied around my eye as well.
“Jungkook?!” I called out panicking and there was a low chuckle.
And then a very familiar scent.
Namjoon.
I sagged in relief.
“Joon…it’s you….” I breathed out . “ Come on, do we really have to do this right away? I wanna see you…” I whispered desperately.
Fingers brushed over my ankle and I jumped.
“Namjoon?” I whispered . The bed dipped next to me, and I felt the brush of his shirt against my bare arm. It was soft and silky , familiar because I’d bought it for him for his birthday and he’d sent me a pic of him wearing it, from the airport today.
“Okay… I’ll play.” I laughed softly. “ Just untie me… I wanna touch you..”
“Sshhh…..” A finger pressed against my lip and I startled. Throat dry, I gulped.
But I didn’t say anything, biting my lips nervously as I felt him climb over me, one knee on either side of mine, fingers curling on my thighs, lips pressing against my cheek. I sighed, relishing the soft press of his lips, up and down my neck, the damp wetness of his tongue as he licked the skin right after, teeth nipping gently and then with more force.
I trembled as soft fingers tugged on my negligee tugging the fabric up and away from my body, raising it up till it pooled near my chest. I felt the tug on my panties, yanking the fabric off and then the weight of him went away, a breathy exhale that sounded both calm and somehow desperate, his body moving down to lightly hold my knees, parting my legs.
I bent my knees, spreading my thighs the way he clearly wanted me to, hearing him groan in return. He used his thumbs to gently part the damp folds of my centre and I felt my entire body shudder at the press of his tongues against the most intimate parts of me.
Choking, I could only lay there and take it, his tongue licking the slick folds, over and over again with an almost curious insistence, like he was tasting me for the first time and I could feel his body trembling on the bed as he did. I felt his teeth tug on the hardened nub, bruising hard and yet somehow almost playful and cheeky and I found myself squirming in pleasure, wetness seeping out of me .
The tip of his finger found my slit, running up and done the length of it in a slow, gentle caress, gathering the moisture there and I trembled when he reached my clit, gently rubbing circles on the little bundle before moving back down to trace my entrance. I was so wet, getting wetter by the second and I’d never wanted to be fucked so bad.
“Please…..baby… I want you ….in me…” I choked out and he chuckled, a little mischievous and unlike him.
The finger dipped in, shallow and barely in and I whimpered in desperation.
“More.. Please…. I want more.. Want you… Its been so long…”
I felt him move back at that and then he was there, right between my legs. I felt the clink of metal as he unbuckled himself, the sound of his zipper and the rustle of fabric as he pushed his trousers off. I could feel the hard muscles of his thigh against the back of mine as he scooted closer, felt the brush of his hard length against my center, the head dipping in just lightly.
He pushed forward, driving in with so much force that my entire body shuddered in shock. And in just that second, I knew, with dawning horror…….
This was not Namjoon.
I screamed, so loud my own ears rang and  a palm pressed down into my mouth, forceful and unrelenting. And terrifyingly unfamiliar.
“Hana…” Jungkook’s voice near my ear made me choke on my tears, my mind splintering in shock and betrayal, body going rigid in terror as he pulled out , only to slide back in.
“Knew it would be worth it, keeping myself pure for you….” He crooned against my skin and I whimpered, wetness spilling over my eyelashes as I tried to squirm away, my mind body and soul only screaming for the man I loved.
“Don’t worry about anything ….Hyung’s in a better place now. “ Jungkook chuckled deeply and I felt my skin go ice cold at the implication. He moved his hand away and I coughed, choking.
“Jungkook….”
The blind fold came off and he kept pumping into me, hips moving erratically, no rhythm or grace and it was obvious he’d never done this before, obvious in the way he looked : blissed out and feral, eyes unfocused as he stared down at me. I felt him tremble and shake, before going still . I felt warm wetness flood my insides and bile rose, nausea making breathing difficult. He stayed on me and inside me, his body so large and immovable, heavy and suffocating over my own.
“what are you doing Jungkookie?” I sobbed out in disbelief and he glared at me.
“What does it fucking look like I’m doing? I’m taking what I fucking deserve….” He snarled. “ Two fucking years…. He doesn’t deserve you. Spends all his days and nights holed up in that studio of his with his friends….leaves you to fend for yourself. You deserve to be waited on, hand and foot… you deserve the world, hana…and he wouldn’t let you experience any of it. Fucking bastard….
“No… No.. God …no..” I choked out. It was the shirt.
He was wearing Namjoon’s shirt. And his cologne. The shirt I knew my boyfriend had been wearing today. How did he get it??
Jungkook brushed his fingers on my cheeks .
“What’s wrong baby? Are you worried about him? Wondering where he is…” He chuckled. “ I told you..he’s in a better place right now..”
“No… you’re lying..you wouldn’t…”
“Wouldn’t I? You know me that well , hana?” He teased.
No. No I didn’t I didn’t know him at all.
“How about this? If you marry me…. If you let me have this dream wedding with my dream girl…. “ He smirked,” If you let me love you the way you deserve , maybe I’ll take you to visit him…someday. ”
I closed my eyes.
I couldn’t process what I’d just heard… I didn’t know… if he was bluffing. What if he had actually killed-
I couldn’t believe that. I couldn’t. It would break me.
“Okay… Just…please don’t hurt him…” I whispered.
Jungkook smiled.
“Just relax Hana. Everything’s going to be okay.”

What is your writing advice for young people who want to write fanfiction and original stories in the near future?
If this is just Way Too Much, skip to the end (#16). My most important piece of advice is there. I also happen to think #5 is pretty good.
-_-_-_-
1) Literally just write. Write whatever you want, and do a lot of it.
_-_
2) You don’t have to post everything. In fact you don’t have to post anything. You can, don’t get me wrong, but it can be intimidating to sit down and think “I will now write something that other people will see and read and judge with their eyeballs.” Because that’s probably gonna lead to nerves and writer's block. Just write down the ideas that you have, the things you want to write, whatever’s in your brain that you want to explore and expand upon and make into something. And then if you want to, share it. Or don’t share it. I have plenty of half-baked ideas and documents and random story chapters and shit hidden away on my Google Drive that will never see the light of day, for a whole number of reasons. I wanted to write it but it wasn’t ~Spicy~ enough to warrant posting, or it’s only like an eighth of a good idea, or it’s like one scene with no story around it, or it’s just something incredibly self-indulgent I just wanted to write for my own enjoyment.
Point being, don’t write for other people. Don’t write so that other people can read it; write what you want, write for yourself, and then if you want to share it, do.
_-_
3) You can pretty much ignore any and all of these for fanfiction. In fact, you can ignore pretty much any rules or guidelines you want for fanfiction. Fanfic is a sandbox. You don’t have to be a “professional writer” to post fic. No one expects you to be Stephen King or Margaret Atwood. Fanfic is just for playing in a fandom and having fun. If you wanna write a 50 chapter slow burn with very little plot aside from the OTP slowly getting to know each other, and no real stakes or central conflict, I guarantee people would read that. Really, fanfiction is the Old West of writing: lawless, wild, unpredictable, and free.
However, here are the rules you must follow:
-Separate your paragraphs. (I’m sure you know this already, but I’m gonna say it anyway just in case.) Do not post one big block of text. Make a paragraph break when someone new is talking, when the characters are in a new place, when a new event occurs that changes the scene, when a chunk of time has passed, and when there’s a major change in subject.
-I know it’s obvious, but... grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. They exist to make writing easy for readers to read, and more people will read your stuff if they don’t have to stop and try to figure out what you meant.
-Use tags and labels, as is possible with whatever site you’re using. Especially if you include possibly triggering content in your story. Again, I know it’s obvious, but it’s common courtesy. Bonus: tagging the themes and content of your story helps readers find it and read it :)
-If possible, limit the use of all-caps and exclamation marks / question marks. 99% of the time, one ! or one ? will do. If you overload the page with a lot of all-caps and long rows of exclamation marks or question marks, it hampers readability.
... That’s literally all I can think of. And, like I said, it’s all pretty basic stuff. You were probably rolling your eyes like, “Uh, yeah, Gwen, I know.” But that’s literally it. You can pretty much do whatever you want in fanfic.
That being said, here’s my advice for both fanfiction and original work...
_-_
4) A quick and dirty rule for coming up with a plot, starting a story, keeping up pacing, or maintaining tension: figure out what dreams, desires, and goals are nearest and dearest to your main character’s heart (see #16). Then set up the main conflict to be directly in opposition to that goal. It doesn’t have to be in a tangible way, though it could be. But, if your main character wants more than anything to reach the ships on the southern coast of your world and sail to a new life, make sure the main conflict immediately prevents them from doing that - in fact, make sure to send them north. If your main character just wants to keep their loved ones safe, kidnap the loved ones. If your main character just wants to date their best-friend-turned-crush, make sure they think they have no chance - or, make them cocky about it, and make sure it makes Person B determined not to ever like them. You get it. Figure out what your character most wants, and then keep them from having that. Boom - your conflict now ties in with your character's motivation. It's like instant yeast for plots.

5) If you’re anything like me, you want your first draft to be Good, despite all that advice about how the first draft doesn’t have to be good and it’s just to get words on the page, yadda yadda. And if you’re somewhat of a perfectionist (like myself), it’s easy to get stuck looking at a blank page because you don’t have The Perfect Words, and you want what you write to be Good the first time.
Here’s how I cheat that:
Instead of trying to write a Good First Draft from a blank page, hit the enter key a few times, skip a little down on the page, change your ink to red (or blue, or whatever - just something immediately identifiable as Not Black) and just thought vomit. Write whatever the hell you’re thinking, exactly as you think it. Don’t worry about it being readable, don’t worry about narrative flow for now, don’t worry about covering all the details, don’t worry about anything except either a) getting all the details of your idea out onto the page, whether that’s a lot or whether it’s just a sentence or two, or b) if you don’t have an idea yet, finding your way there.
Because this method is also very good for finding your way to ideas when you’re stuck in writer’s block.
Because of how human brains work, getting this stuff out onto the page - in all its messy, stream-of-consciousness glory - will likely spark more thoughts. As you write your original idea about the scene, it’ll likely spark more ideas. Creation begets creation. If you just start thought-vomiting your ideas onto the page, chances are you’ll think of more things as you go, and you’ll start filling out description or dialogue or tone or action or whatever, and pretty soon the scene starts writing itself.
Not sure where you’re going with the scene or which ideas you wanna use? Use a lot of ambivalent language in your “thought-vomit draft.” My pre-writing notes are chock-full of the words “maybe,” “perhaps,” and the phrases, “At some point...” and “...or something like that.” In this way, I don’t tie myself down to one idea; it’s just an idea, and I’m keeping it on the page in case I use it, but I might chuck it in the trash or change it or whatever.
And then, once your ideas for the scene (or story, or chapter, or whatever) are on the page, then go back to the top and start translating them into a “real” first draft. Use black ink, and start copy-pasting chunks of the thought-vomit up into the top part of the document and translating them into Draft 1. Separate out paragraphs where paragraph breaks should be. Add the correct punctuation and whatnot. Change “describe the lobby here - include potted plants, fancy carpet, blood stain, etc.” into an actual description of the lobby. Flesh it out, or condense, or whatever it needs. And if you’re still stuck, change back to red ink and ramble some more until you find a path that feels right, then plug that in. This keeps you from looking at a blank page, and it allows you to generate a kind of Draft 0.5, somewhere between a plan and a first draft.
You don’t have to use every idea. Like I said, jot down whatever comes to mind, put a “maybe” before or after it, and keep working. If the idea grabs you and you wanna keep expanding on it and exploring it, cool. If you just wanna jot it down so you don’t forget it and then move on, also cool. Red-ink draft / “thought-vomit draft” is your time to jump around in the timeline, add or finesse details at whatever point your brain moves to, etc. Don’t try to do it exactly in story order, because you will get tangential thoughts and ideas, and you will not remember to write them down five pages later when you finally get to taking notes on that scene. Trust me. On that note...
_-_
6) Write everything down the moment you think of it. Seriously.
“I’ll remember it when I get around to writing that scene in a couple days / weeks / months (/years).”
You won’t.
Write it down.
Phone, journal, google docs - hell, my family regularly laughs at me for grabbing a napkin during dinner and scribbling thoughts down alongside pasta sauce stains.
And then, once you have it written down somewhere...
_-_
7) Consolidate your writing ideas in one place.
Maybe this isn’t really your style, and that’s totally chill.
Buuuut, if you’re Type-A like me - or if you tend to be somewhat unorganized and you know you’ll lose track of your writing notes if they’re scattered across multiple notebooks, journals, napkins, phone notes, etc. - having one consolidated document of notes is a life saver. I keep mine on Google Docs so I can access it, add to it, and look through it for inspiration anywhere at any time. When I have one of those Shower Thoughts that I jot down on my phone or on a napkin during dinner, I set myself a reminder on my phone to type it up in my Story Ideas document later.
(Or, if the idea I had was for a story of mine that I’ve already started planning / drafting / whatever, I put it in the document for that story instead of the Big Random Story Ideas doc. You get it.)
_-_
8) Have other ways to collect and save writing ideas, besides just writing stuff down. If you like Pinterest, make pinterest boards of your characters or stories or settings or whatever. If you’re big into playlists, make a playlist for your character / setting / story / etc. Or both. Or something else. I’m not good at drawing, but maybe you are, and maybe you like to draw your ideas. Whatever form it takes, having another way to save ideas and think about your stories is invaluable.
_-_
9) Some writers can just start writing with no idea where the story is going, and they just kind of figure it out as they go. I envy those writers. And I do that sometimes for fanfiction, where the stakes are somewhat lower and the audience is reading more for scene-to-scene enjoyment (and to see their OTP kiss) than for a Driving And Compelling Narrative.
But here’s the thing: especially if you’re just kind of starting out, writing without some sort of plan is really, really hard, and will likely lead you into a slow, meandering narrative that will likely frustrate you.
Even if you think you’re someone that just can’t write with a plan (and again, I have the highest respect for pansters out there - I don’t know how you do it, you crazy bastards, but you keep doing you) - even if you think “I can’t work with plans, they’re too prescriptive, I just want to write and see what happens -”
Try at least making the most skeletal of plans.
Even if you have no clue what 90% of the story is, yet. That’s fine. But you need to have some idea of what you’re building to, even if that’s nothing more specific than a feeling, or a turning point for your character. Even if your entire plan for everything beyond Chapter 1 is, “At some point, Charlie needs to realize that Ed was lying to her.”
This is where those Draft 0.5 notes come in handy. Because, more than likely, working on your current scene that way will spark ideas for later scenes, which you can put down at the bottom of the document and save for when they become relevant. In my experience, the line between planning ahead and making a Draft 0.5 is exceptionally thin. One can quickly turn into the other.
If you’re really, really resistant to the idea of planning ahead, that’s okay. It’s not everybody’s style. But for the love of all that is holy, write down your ideas for future scenes, even if you’re a person that doesn’t like to plan and writes only in story order, because you will not remember that idea once you get to that scene.
_-_
10) You don’t have to write in order.
Here’s the thing: I’m a person that can only do my Draft 1 in story order (meaning, chronological order). I just have to be in that flow; I need to write in story order for me to best channel where the character is at from scene to scene, both narratively and emotionally.
But my Thought Vomit Draft is another thing entirely. By using the brain hack of putting my notes in red (or another color, it doesn’t matter) and going down to the bottom of the document / page and taking notes there, and then integrating them into whatever plan I have, and then translating them into Draft 1 once I get there in the story - by doing that, I can get my good ideas onto the page (and expound upon them and let my muse carry me and ride that momentum while I’m in the moment of inspiration) without writing out of order.
Maybe that’s just me. But if you’re a person who really prefers to write in story order, that could be hugely helpful to you. It is to me.
_-_
11) Emotion and motivation will do more for your story than technicalities of plot.
If your characters really care about something, and their journey through the (shaky or weak) plot is emotionally engaging, it will be a much more compelling story than a story with a “perfect” plot and unrelatable or unmotivated characters.
If your characters care about what they’re doing, and it means something to them, and their goals and actions are driven by dreams or fears or emotions that are integral to who they are, your audience will care too. If you have a perfectly crafted plot that hits all the right beats and has high stakes and fast pacing and drama - but your characters don’t connect with what’s happening in a way that’s deeply meaningful or emotional for them? You’re gonna have a hard time engaging readers.
When in doubt, prioritize character emotion and motivation over plot. Emotion is what drives story.
This power is highly exploitable. (Just look at pulp novels and shitty but entertaining movies.) You can even use it to glaze over plot holes or reinvigorate a limp narrative. Use it that way sparingly, though. It’s a band-aid, not a surgery.
_-_
12) Evil villains are hard to write - mostly because there are very few truly evil people in the world. (There are a few. Billionaires and several big name politicians come to mind.) But by and large, there aren’t that many evil people. There are plenty of bad people, but bad people have some good in them, somewhere in there. Trying to write an evil villain is hard, because they often turn very cartoony.
Here’s a tip: it’s much easier to write antagonists who aren’t evil. Even if they’re bad people. Of course, there’s no reason you can’t write a villain that’s just truly evil - a serial killer, or an abuser, or a billionaire, or someone who legit just wants to hurt people or blow up the earth or stay in control of an oppressed population, or whatever. But chances are, it’s gonna be really hard to make them feel real, and even harder to create a plot around them that doesn’t feel forced or contrived.
Instead, try writing an antagonist / villain whose motivations and goals directly clash with your protagonist’s - but not because they want to take over the world or see people suffer. Write an antagonist who’s chaotic good, but whose perception of the situation is completely opposite from your hero’s. Write an antagonist whose only desire is to save people, and who will do anything to achieve that goal - anything. Write an antagonist who believes in the letter of the law, and will hinder and oppose the hero’s methods even if they agree with the hero’s motivation. Write an antagonist who got in way over their head and did some things they regret, and now they don’t know how to get out, and they’re doing their best but whatever they set in motion is too powerful for them to stop now.
Write villains who are human. Write a killer who thought they were doing the right thing by taking their victim out of the equation, who vomits at the sight of the body and sobs over the grave they dig. Write a government leader who truly believes she’s doing what’s best for her people in the long-term, even if it might hurt them in the short term, and is willing to endure the hatred and belligerence of the masses if it means securing what she thinks is a better future for her people. Write a teenage bully that thinks they’re the one being picked on by the world, and they’re just fighting back, standing their ground. Write a scientist who will break any code of ethics and hurt anyone he needs to - in order to bring back his baby sister from the grave, because he promised her he’d protect her and he failed. Write an antagonist who is selfish and self-centered and capricious - because in order to survive they had to look out for Number One, and that habit ain’t about to break anytime soon.
Write villains who aren’t even villains. Write antagonists who oppose the hero because of moral differences. Write antagonists who are trying to do the right thing. Write antagonists who treat the heroes with kindness and dignity and respect and gentleness.
They don’t have to be good. They don’t have to be Misunderstood Sweethearts who “deserve” a redemption arc. They can be cruel and nasty and dismissive and callous and violent and etc. etc.
Just hesitate before you make them Evil-with-a-capital-E. Because evil is hard to write, and honestly, boring to read. Flawed human beings with goals and motivations that directly oppose the main characters’ are much easier to write and much more interesting to read.
Ask why. Why is your villain trying to take over the world? What does that even mean? Are they trying to create a Star-Trek-like post-capitalism utopia, but they know that won’t happen in a million lifetimes, so they’re trying to do it by force? Are they actually super in favor of human rights, but they got very impatient waiting for the world to do anything about poverty and war, so they decided to take it into their own hands? Are they determined to fix the world - no matter the cost? Are they terrified and overwhelmed, but committed to see it through to the end? Or - maybe they’re just doing it on a dare. Maybe they don’t really give a shit about world domination, they were just a mediocre rich white guy who decided to fuck around and find out, and now he’s kind of curious how far he can take this thing. And now he’s kind of an internationally-wanted criminal, so he’s kind of stuck living on his hidden private island in his multi-billion dollar secret base, strapping lasers to sharks’ heads for the hell of it. Gross, selfish, uncaring, and dangerous? For sure. Evil? Depends on your definition. See, now we’re getting somewhere.
_-_
13) It’s tempting to let the plot control the characters. It’s easy to drop your characters into a situation and see how they react. But here’s the thing: that doesn’t drive plot. In fact, it bogs down pacing. Instead, try to build you plot off of your characters’ actions and decisions. Let your character build their own situation. Not to say it should go they way they wanted it to go; in fact, usually, their grand plans should go to hell very quickly. But having the characters take action and make decisions, and letting the plot develop based on that, is much easier to make compelling than making a rigid series of events and then trying to herd your characters into them.
_-_
14) Having trouble justifying a character’s actions? Consider having them make the opposite decision, or having them approach the situation in a different way. For example: you need your character to go meet the bad guy, for plot reasons, even though there’s no way it’s not a trap. If the character goes, readers are gonna be groaning with their head in their hands, because c’mon man, that was really fucking stupid. But he’s gotta go, because the plot needs that. Two ways you might handle this: a) He knows it’s probably a trap. He decides not to go. The plot conspires to get him near the villain anyway. Or, b) He knows it’s a trap. But he needs to go, for (insert reasons here). So, he approaches it in an unexpected way. He brings backup, recruiting a side character we met earlier in the story. Or he arrives on the back of a dragon, because ain’t nobody gonna fuck with a dude on a dragon. Or he goes - early, and ambushes the villain. It may work, it may not. He may get himself kidnapped anyway. But it moves the plot along without having Stupid Hero Syndrome.
_-_
15) This is a legit piece of advice: if all of this sounds overwhelming, literally just ignore it and write what you want. For real. Writing should be fun, and every single writer operates differently. If you’re sitting here like “I’m getting stressed just reading this,” just flip me a good-natured bird and get on with your life. I promise I won’t take it personally. Same goes for literally any other writing advice you see. Lots of rules and guidelines can very quickly make anything thoroughly un-fun. Just write. If you’re passionate about it and you do it for long enough, you’ll start figuring out the tips and tricks on your own.
_-_
16) Here’s the best piece of advice I can give you: know your characters. More importantly, know what’s important to them. Build their personality and decisions off of that, and build your plot off of their decisions.
I see a lot of character building sheets that ask a shit-ton of questions like “What’s their most prized possession?” “Do they like their family?” “What’s their favorite food?”
And while these are good questions, my problem with this type of character building is that if you start there, with the little stuff, you’re building on nothing. IMO, to make a truly strong character (not strong like Inner Strength, strong like effective), you need a strong foundation.
Here are the things you must know about your character:
a) What are their greatest fears / deepest insecurities? And I don’t mean “wasps” or “heights.” I mean the deep shit. I mean fears like “living a meaningless life,” or “turning out just like their parents,” or “that no one will ever love them,” or “being powerless.” You may say, “But they’re really scared of wasps! They fall into a wasp nest when they were little and got stung so much they almost died!” Great! That’s a fantastic bit of backstory. They should absolutely be afraid of wasps, and that should absolutely be an impediment later in the story. But dig deeper. What about that event actually scarred them? Was it the helplessness? Stumbling around, swatting at the air, not being able to do a single thing to stop what was happening to them? Was it that they were alone, and no matter how loud they screamed, no one was coming? Was it the bodily horror of feeling themself turn into an inhuman creature as they swelled up from the stings, unable to move their fingers or face normally anymore?
And don’t forget insecurities, because those factor in, too. Are they deeply insecure about their identity? Do they believe, deep down, that they’re ugly? Did they grow up poor and they’ve always been really touchy about that? Why? Dig deep. Figure out what really, really bothers them.
b) What are their hopes and dreams? What do they truly want out of life? What do they consider the most valuable to their experience here in this thing called life? Is it the freedom to forge their own path and be independent? Is it the approval of their family or peers? Is it a home? Is it knowledge, or understanding? Spiritual fulfillment? Is it deeply important to them that they contribute to their community, or protect those they love? What do they need in order to feel truly and deeply fulfilled in life?
Figure out those two things (each one encompasses several things, btw, you don’t have to stop at just one for each), and then use that to inform how they behave and the types of decisions they make within the story.
It also informs character behavior and personality.
Let’s say we have a character who’s afraid of helplessness. They’re probably gonna be the person that always wants to do something, try something, no matter how hopeless the situation seems. They’d despise just sitting and waiting, probably, because it makes them feel powerless. They might even be the person that makes rash decisions and acts impulsively and puts themself in danger unnecessarily, because in their mind it’s better than being at the mercy of fate. This is one way you could use a character’s personality to inform their decisions, which in turn helps to inform plot.
Or, let’s say we have a character whose greatest fear is being left behind or forgotten. We may have a chatterbox on our hands. They might be obnoxious. They might love the spotlight, constantly vying for attention no matter the situation, because deep down they’re so afraid that they’d be forgotten otherwise. Or, it may go the opposite way. They may be so afraid of people leaving them that they’re terrified of bothering people. They don’t want to do anything that could annoy people, anything that might give people a reason to leave them. They might be exceedingly polite, quiet, accommodating. A push-over, really.
These are two nearly opposite types of personalities, both stemming from the same core fear/insecurity. You can go a lot of different ways with it. But if you build on that strong foundation, you’ll have a strong character, and a stronger plot.
Likewise, the structure of your story can and should inform the design of these character traits. If you need your characters to team up near the end, it may be impactful if you give your main character a deep fear of commitment, an insecurity about being unwanted or left behind, and make them highly value independence and freedom. That could make their team-up for the final battle very meaningful. Conversely, you can use your character’s deepest fears and desires to help design the plot. Is your character deeply insecure about voicing their opinions or taking a stand, because of trauma they faced in the past? Make them face that. Build that into the climactic third act. Give them the big inspirational speech where they stand up and talk about what they believe to be important, what they think the group should do. And then design that character arc to run through the story, giving you more handholds and stepping stones, more pieces of foundation on which to design the plot.
In this way, character should inform story as much as story informs character. It’s a feedback loop.
Bonus: if you build your character and your plot off of each other in this way, it automatically starts to build in the foundations of that emotional investment I mentioned earlier. If your character’s decisions are based on what they most want and do not want in life, you basically have your character motivation and stakes pre-built.
Note: you need to know these things about your villain, too.
-_-_-
I’m genuinely sorry about the length of this, lmao. But you did ask.
Best of luck!
Edit: I forgot an important one:
17) Start when the scene starts and end when the scene ends.
What do I mean by that?
If your notes say “Danny asks Nicole out after school and majorly flubs it,” start the scene when Danny approaches Nicole after school. Better yet, cold-open the scene on “I was wondering if, you know, you’d wanna. You know. Hang out some time?”
Don’t start that morning when Danny goes to school, unless you’re gonna cover the school day in like one or two sentences. Don’t spend whole paragraphs going through the school day, unless it’s to cover other plot points first (in which case apply these same guidelines there), or if the paragraphs are there for a specific reason, like to illustrate how stressed he is and how it seems like every little thing is going wrong. Even then, trim the fat as much as possible. Expounding and describing everything Moment-to-moment is for the meat of the scenes, not the leading-up-to and coming-away-from.
Here’s my rule of thumb: study how and when movies cut from scene to scene. Movies have exceptionally strict, limited time for storytelling; they’re excellent examples of starting a scene when the plot point starts and ending when it’s over. If you can’t picture a movie showing everything you showed, start the scene later and end it earlier.

What's In My Backpack: Geology Student Edition
Tumblr media
My backpack: Fjallraven Kanken
I think its aesthetic
Prevents me from carrying too much
Long lasting
I only purchased this backpack after my backpack of 3 years broke. It was a tragedy, but at least this backpack should last.
My laptop: Refurbished Asus Chromebook
Inexpensive- purchased for about 50 USD
Scratches on surface fixed with sticker bombing
Functional enough to use throughout the day
I think its from 2011, but its exactly what I need to be able to log into black board. Buying refurbished was a major plus.
Headphones: Skull Candy Hesh Bluetooth headphones
I dropped my cellphone into a bat of keispy kreme glaze once and since then the headphone jacks dont work. Bluetooth was the only way.
The Gulf: Making of an American Sea
I have to read this book for my hydrology class.
My Notes
Self explanatory. I write notes during class because it helps me focus on the lecture. Orgainzing notes while the professor is speaking gives me just enough stimulation to entertain me but not so much that I ignore the class. I'm taking
Physical Geology
Hydrological Systems
Enviromental Science
Chemistry
Archeology
Stationary: Zebra Midliners & Precise Z5 pens
I like these midliners because highlighters mess with my eyes. I also like G2 pens, but these have been working so well for me, that I havent touched a G2 pen this semester. The only issue is that since they have wet ink, I have to wait before I highlight anything.
MISC: Notebook, Keys, Phone, Wallet, Meds, Gym Clothes
My notebook is my best friend. I write all important dates on it, I journal, I preserve flowers. It does everything.
I always have advil on me, too. Headaches suck. When I used to menstruate advil was a life saver.
didnt show my gym clothes (gotta get them gainz) because theyre in the wash. Hence the deodorant also.

So Deeply Magnus Bane
Magnus Bane / 1389 words / Rated G / Introspection
Written for @thesorrowoflizards/ @sunshine-magnus for 600 followers celebration
Read on AO3
There’s a stack of parchments and papers and books, piling so high on the right side of his desk that Magnus is pretty sure he’s subconsciously using magic to keep it up. There’s a potion bubbling somewhere on the work table, but he’s not really paying attention to it. It’s shampoo, and he’s so used to making it that having a cauldron of it running is one of his favorite calming sounds.
The smell of sandalwood, undercut by the mixture of herbs he uses to balance the deep scent is wrapped around him like a blanket. He’s not wearing an actual blanket, but one of his favorite shirts, a flannel rather on the thick side.
He grabs a quill and a pot of ink, and writes a letter to an old acquaintance, some vampire in the depths of the Russian taïga, who only speaks in a specific mix of 18th century Fenya Russian, and his regional dialect from the same period. His connection with the man is one of the relics of some of the most criminal phases of Magnus’ life.
He only reaches Piotr Berislavovitch when he is in need of certain books or ingredients that he can’t get through legal ways. He knows that the man would probably deliver, and he knows he shouldn’t try to think about how he’s gotten hold of the item. No questions is part of the deal. Magnus provides potions, translations and spells in exchange.
He rarely thinks about those times where he enjoyed the darkness of the underworld, all that remains of it is acquaintances with specific sets of skills, a few regrets, and memories of adrenaline rushing through his veins. He had fun then. He still has fun now, but differently. The adventures of Petya and Niousha were far behind the two of them.
The apothecary around him is an obvious tell of that. It’s messy, in a way, but studious, scholarly, the prime example of the kind of man he has been for a few decades. A wise powerful warlock, tricking people into thinking he’s much older than he actually is.
Sometimes he thinks that he is that old. It’s been a couple centuries, and he’s so different than what he was before. He used to be young and wild, and now he’s one of those warlocks with libraries of books in all continents, constantly buying more places to store things.
What remains of young him sits in a cave in China, somewhere hidden, glamoured. He would know if a mundane stumbled upon it, the things inside of it would make the news. And his wards would let him know. There are books, journals he wrote, paintings. Guns, and contraband, and old sex toys too.
He’s still this messy now. He’s never been able to properly store things for too long. Every decade, he’ll go through libraries and try to order the books, but a month later it’ll all be undone again. He’s messy and he doesn’t mind it. He knows where everything is.
Magnus finishes the letter and closes it, and sends it as a fire message. He’ll get a reply when his acquaintance finds someone to send the message back, or by the mail in a couple of weeks. The matter isn’t pressing, or Magnus would have asked someone else.
He sits back in his chair and takes in the dangerously high pile again. He’s going to regret putting off all those translations and studies. Or maybe he won’t, because he was busy with his friends and Alec at that time. He was actually doing something worthwhile, not procrastinating.
He adjusts his reading glasses on his nose. They are low, half-moon spectacles that only old wise white-bearded men in children’s movies wear. There’s even a beaded string that goes around his neck, so he can rest them on his chest when he takes them off. They are incredibly old-fashioned, but he adores them, and they work great. They are perfect for evenings like these, spent studying.
Alec has a meeting with some Clave representatives, the kind people have around a meal, that’s stuffy and uncomfortable and you don’t even really want to eat because you know everyone is judging the way you chew, or how much you drink. Alec will come home tired and frustrated and will pour himself a whiskey.
Magnus summons a glass of red wine at the thought. He can drink here. The work he’s doing is not even for a client, it’s just his personal studies. The nature of magic, the link between Edom and the mundane world, warlock culture throughout the ages. That kind of things. He knows he has a book or two that he needs to return to the Vatican, or the Spiral Labyrinth in there, but it’s not like he can’t afford the fees.
He stretches slightly. The cauldron smokes, a flash of golden light flavored with rosemary erupting from it. It reflects in the glass doors of the shelves he keeps herbs in, and on the long saber fixed to the wall. It’s a gorgeous blade that he cherishes, a gift from another old friend a long time ago. He sharpens it from time to time, like all the blades around his apartment. Another calming sound, calming thing in his life.
The knives of his kitchen are sharpened regularly, when they need it, and when he needs it. Once, he was a warrior too. He still is, differently, more rarely. Often, Magnus feels like he’s more a collection of his past lives than anything else. He’s the criminal, the warrior, the healer, the hair stylist, the jeweler, the club owner, the real estate mogul. This current life will probably be “the scholar”, or “the saver of the extended Lightwood family’s asses”. Or both at the same time.
His life has been so incredibly full lately that he doesn’t think one term will be able to define this era. He loves and he laughs, and he’s the happiest and most content he’s been in such a long long time.
He tries to explain to Alec everything that has happened to him in the last 400 years, but he knows he’s forgotten a lot. And there are things he won’t ever really tell anyone. Things so deep and personal, secrets so hidden that he doesn’t even remember half of them. Things no one knows except himself. Not even Cat.
One of Alec’s seraph blades is resting on the edge of the work table. He stands up and walks to it. He makes sure no one is there to see or listen, to know what he’s about to do is possible. He doesn’t know if he’s ever going to use this.
He slides his finger over the guard of the weapon and takes it in hand, his fingers are firm and his grip steady. He knows how to wield such blades, maybe even better than half the Shadowhunters in the Institute.
He takes a deep breath, and feels a different kind of magic awaken inside of him. He remembers the first time he took a seraph blade in hand, and the look of pure terror in the Shadowhunter’s gaze as he fought back against him. It was a long time ago, when Magnus would fight those angelic soldiers every other day to save his skin.
Thoughts of Piotr Berislavovitch are forgotten when the blade glows red and Magnus feels the angelic power resonates through his body. It’s a different kind of power. One that is both physical, and the jubilation of a man that is able to wield the weapon of his oppression. He remembers feeling this wicked glee when he first discovered he could do this. He’s more angel than all of them combined.

Bonifacio the rightful Philippine National Hero
Rizal, a hero a writer a Filipino a Doctor a brother and a womanizer these are just some of the traits that we know about our Filipino hero Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda also known as Jose Rizal Our national hero, that is according to RA 1425 (aka Rizal law) which says that Rizal is the national hero of the Philippines. But, should Rizal be our Philippine national hero? or just a Philippine hero? Is Rizal the rightful air to the throne? Or Should the father of the Philippine Revolution  Andres Bonifacio be crowned as the real national Philippine hero?
For me, Rizal should not be our national hero, It should Bonifacio because not like Rizal, Andres Bonifacio literally fought against the Spaniards. He did not hid behind a paper and a pen but instead he fought face to face using his revolver and “Bolo”. He did not waste ink on paper but he shed blood in the battle field. If Jose Rizal did not kept a journal about his thoughts, achievements, and adventures, I would say that Andres Bonifacio deserves to be called the Philippine national hero. We all know that Rizal used the power of his pen to provoke  people to start a revolution, but if it was not for the initiative of Andres Bonifacio who brought the revolution into reality would we have achieved something? Yes, I know that Rizal is the inspiration of the katipuneros, but Bonifacio was the one who lead them. Another reason why Rizal should not be name our national hero is because he is a womanizer which is not a good example to the Filipinos that admires and idolizes him, what would you feel if you will know that the person who said that “Ang taong hindi marunong mag mahal sa sariling wika ay mas masahol pa sa malansang isda” is the person who dated 12 different girls in different countries. Im not saying that Rizal is a bad person but I am just asking why should we choose a person who only fought using his pen as a sword and his paper as shield?
I know a lot of people are pro Rizal but it’s just because they do not know the side Bonifacio.They are blinded by the knowledge and influence by Rizal and gave less priority to Bonfacio’s bravery. Knowledge is not only develop in school, but you can also gain knowledge and be educated by experience and dedication. So I conclude that Bonifacio, a hero fighter a Filipino a leader a brother and a life saver is a better national hero than Rizal, but even though I am a pro Bonifacio I still consider Rizal’s big contribution to the Filipino history. Let us always also consider the stand of others regarding this kind of issue knowing that we all have different perspectives and everyone has their own opinion with in this issue, so always remember that we should always be fair.

For just $21.99 ***EXCLUSIVE USA DISTRIBUTOR*** This is a fun stamp that rotates so that you can choose a pattern and easily decorate your notes and diary. It comes with a removable ink pad that can be re-inked. It's fun to be able to press it easily and repeatedly, and the ease with which you can instantly reproduce difficult characters by handwriting is a true time-saver. You can use the attached ink pad about 2,000 times before re-inking. When the ink runs low, it can be replenished with the "exclusive replenishment ink", which is sold separately. Cute decorations for planners and notebooks! The 12-month stamp can also be used for bullet journals and can be used by switching between 12 stamps from to on one stamp. You can easily and beautifully reproduce stamps that are difficult to draw by yourself. Since it is an oil-based ink, it will not bleed even if you apply a color over it with a water-based marker. Of course, it is also recommended to use it simply as a black stamp or to colorfully decorate it. You can enjoy coloring it after you stamp. ______________________________________________________ Specifications: Body:ABS+POM+Polycarbonate+Spring steel Stamp:rubber / 12 designs Inkpad attached Oil-based Ink:ABS + Urethane Package:PET package Size: Package size: H160×W85×D28mm Body: H76×W44×D26mm Weight 48g (w/o package: 30g) ________________________________ Usage tips: * If you do not use the stamp for a long time, remove the ink pad from the main body, cover the ink pad, and store it. * Because this is an oil-based ink, be careful not to get it on clothing. * Depending on the material of the paper to be imprinted, the ink may dry slowly or bleeding may occur. * Do not rub the rubber stamp surface with your finger or a sharp object as it may cause damage. * Do not place near heat or places with high temperature (in a car in summer or in direct sunlight). ________________________________ By purchasing this item, you agree to abide by Etsy's terms and ...

Here we go again! Everyone, here are some transparent pngs of... something... for you to use in your personal bookbinding projects! Fanfics, original stuff, classic lit, journals, whatever it is you do with your fancy papers and your heavy weights, these are for you.
I'm using mine to decorate a fanfic about a puppeteer who's dating a vampire and the apocalypse! That's not hyperbole.
Info and rules under the cut - be sure to read it carefully. (plus links to more dividers)
About: The graphics are on the small side, and not vectorized, so they won't look very good if you blow them up. They were made with the intent of being placed between lines of text or at the top of chapters.
The light grey versions are ink-savers. They were run over with a screentone. They aren't very sharp-looking, but if you're tight on ink and staring down a 300-page longfic, they'll get you where you need to go.

Study and college survival tips
Here’s my attempt at a comprehensive and actually realistic list of tips, especially if you’re struggling with mental health related issues but in general this should be helpful for everyone!
How to stay organized:
throw out the idea of a fancy bullet journal and get a solid planner - unless you really want one of those I can tell you at least five better ways to spend your time instead of working on the layout of a bullet journal
write down important dates (tests, exams, deadlines) immediately - that way you can’t forget about them
colour coding - seriously, colour code everything, it will be a life saver! Get differently coloured folders and use differently coloured pencils to write down dates and notes - that way you can easily identify information and it will save you quite some time
file away your papers/notes after every class - I struggled with this for the longest time, but seriously, do it, nothing is worse than loose sheets flying around your room and bag! Take a few minutes after each class to sort your stuff - I know it’s annoying but it saves you a lot of trouble and gives you the chance to mentally go over everything you’ve learned and possible homework you’ve been given
have an organized pencil case - it might be my personal pet peeve, but nothing is worse than showing up with little more than one pencil in your bag. A quick overview of what you might need: a pencil/eraser, a pen/fountain pen, ink eraser (my go to, I don’t use ballpoint pens any longer), a ruler, coloured pencils, a marker, some kind of sharpies (I also have glue and a scissors, but that’s optional)
stay hydrated! Meaning, always make sure to pack something to drink every day - I know this might seem silly, but it’s important to remember that! (pro tip: always pack some snacks too - chocolate is totally fine!)
How to study:
Take notes in class - try to keep your handwriting neat and tidy and write in your own words. Don’t write everything the teacher says, just write down what’s important to you
Ask questions (and write down the answers) - seriously, if there’s something you don’t understand, ask the teacher about it. It’s literally their job to help you understand and if you’re genuine about it they’re not going to bite your head off. I tend to ask a lot of seemingly “silly” questions in math class but it’s because I really want to understand and make sure I understood what the teacher just told us - I never once got told off by doing so and the notes I made from those answers are the most valuable to me because the teacher made sure to respond to my specific problem
Pay attention - you’re in class to learn, don’t forget that. Paying attention in class is the key to good grades and will reduce your study time at home!
Do your homework - I admit, I don’t always do my homework, but I try my best. Don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t done them (rest is important) but know they’re helpful to find potential problems and things you’re still struggling with.
Paying attention in class, taking notes and doing your homework will minimize the amount you will have to study for tests and exams - I can’t stress this enough, organization is the key and it’s the secret why I rarely ever have to study for tests. I know my topics, have asked questions and made sure to figure out my struggles. A week before a test I usually flip through my folders and memorize some facts and most of the time that’s enough - it’s not magic, but it might seem like it to others who aren’t quite es organized.
if you need it to study, write flashcards - write down important information, keep it short and simple and remember to colour code. They’re easy to carry around and will help you memorize everything a little better
How to stay motivated/take care of yourself:
here’s the truth, you won’t always be motivated. That’s okay, but always remember, why you’re doing this. I know I’m studying all these things because I want to go to uni afterwards and this goal serves as motivation whenever I feel in a slump. Find your own motivation/goal and remind yourself of that when things get tough.
don’t beat yourself up if you are behind on something - take your time, take care of yourself first. Your health is important and despite what everyone else seems to tell you, there’s no rush to get through school/college/uni. You can always repeat a year/semester but it’s much harder to recover once you’ve exhausted yourself.
mental health days - take a day off when you can afford it and feel stressed and overwhelmed. Sometimes you don’t have any energy left and that’s okay. Again, don’t beat yourself up and take care of yourself!
ask for help - if you’re struggling, tell your teachers or guidance counsellor. They’re humans too and the can really help you and offer support most of the time. It might not always work, but it is always worth a try!
Breathe - it’s okay. Don’t stress yourself. I know this is hard but you’re doing better than you think you are, I promise you that!
You are not alone - talk to friends, whether they’re at school or online and if you ever need help, my askbox is always open too!

Study essentials
A planner, a diary or a bullet journal. It’s super duper important to know which classes you have and when they are. Keep track of your homeworks, essays and tasks. You can also organize your study routine. If you don’t like writing on paper or you don’t want to bring it everywhere you can also use a digital planner.
Practical backpack. Choose a cool backpack but take the time to find a good solid bag. This will save you the back pain and you won’t have to choose between the water bottle, the books or the pencil case because there isn’t enough space for everything.
Pencil case. Choose a cool pencil case that carries everything you need. Fill it with a black pen, a blue pen, color pens, highlighters, a ruler, a rubber, a pencil, a black marker, post-its and a USB.
Notebooks. Use a different notebook for every subject, you can choose between ruled, squared, dotted and blank pages. Just be sure it fits for you and you can easily write on them and the quality of the paper is optimal so the ink won’t bleed-through.
Water. You have to drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. It helps you stay concentrated and it’s super important for your healthy ti drink a lot.
Power Bank. If you’re in the library and you really need to check your phone for some reasons (NOT FOR REPLYING TEXTS) and your phone dies you have to bring with you a power bank which is really a life saver.
Laptop. You need one literally for EVERYTHING.
