Since my bottled inks have moved from a shelf to the desk drawer, I bought these white, 10mm circle stickers. ‘Acts as an accurate colour swatch that lets me see which bottle I need from a top-down perspective.
‘Saves me having to keep picking them up and down to find a certain colour and then doing swatches on scrap paper to find which shade I need. Highly recommend doing that for your own chosen medium, not just inks. ‘Helps that there’s no gloss on the stickers, so they were easy to paint.
Here’s the link, for those interested. (X)

Hey, hey, another longhand writer! We are a rare breed, it seems. Well-met!
Tip re: pens - fountain pens. There’s relatively attractive cheap ones easily available, there’s no need to put any pressure on the point, which makes the writing smoother and less painful/less quickly fatiguing (I initially switched to ‘em because it was becoming difficult to use gel pens and nearly impossible to manage with ballpoints…my hands regard the Pilot Kakuno and anything cigar-shaped that’s made by Sailor as the best stuff since sliced bread), and you can have bottles of ink and just top up your favorite color whenever you run low/keep a cartridge in your bag in case of emergency ink depletion scenarios. Plus, if you decide you like it and then get a slightly nicer pen (which is nearly inevitable…the one downside of the things is that you seemingly always end up with multiple fountain pens and too many bottles of ink sooner or later), then you can pretend you are your favorite early-to-mid-twentieth century authors for fun.

Guess whose pen ran out while writing longhand fiddauthor fanfiction. •́  ‿ ,•̀
One of my fave pens too... Now I have to search for ink refills.
48 pages so far not including the random scenes I have written online to use later.

Does anyone have trouble with using Higgins Eternal black ink in sketchbooks? Mine always rubs off onto the opposite page (and sometimes around the drawing), so I always have to protect it with taped-in wax paper.
My Higgins Eternal was so old that it dried up. But I was too cheap to throw away the remnants, so I ground it up and mixed it with water. So I don't know if that's the reason why the ink keeps rubbing pigments onto the opposite page, like it no longer has the proper binders, or if regular Higgins Eternal does that.
I was about to buy dye-based ink, instead of pigmented, so I don't have to worry about pigments rubbing onto the opposite pages. But reviews keep warning about how non-lightfast it is, how it won't last long, and isn't water resistant. It also seems a little more expensive and I'm a cheapskate.
So should I just get more Higgins Eternal? Higgins Black Magic? A black dye based ink? Black acrylic ink? India ink?
I just want to be able to cover big areas with black ink, without the pigments rubbing off onto the opposite pages, and without worrying about wasting my expensive Copic ink---because again, I'm a cheapskate. (Waterproof and Copic-proof would be nice too.)

This is not a goodbye, my darling, this is a thank you. Thank you for coming into my life and giving me joy, thank you for loving me and receiving my love in return. Thank you for the memories I will cherish forever. But most of all, thank you for showing me that there will come a time when I can eventually let you go.
