Ink October day 11: Firebreak
A strip of land that has been cleared, plowed, or planted with fire-resistant vegetation to prevent a fire from spreading.
#kh riku#riku kingdom hearts#kingdom hearts riku#riku kh#dream eater riku#kingdom hearts#kh#kingdom hearts dream drop distance#kh ddd#blue boi draws#ink october#ink october 2024#ink October 2024 day 11#I think this one might be my favourite of this years#it’s simple but I really like how it turned out#anyway Riku as a firebreak but instead of fire it’s darkness. guy who is darkness resistant who helps keep back the darkness#Riku using his darkness as a sorta ‘controlled burn’ method of fighting darkness#honestly darkness as a natural force vs darkness as a corrupting force… Riku having natural darkness and using it in a controlled way#to avoid build up that could be used against him by others with ill intentions#honestly Riku and how he deals with his darkness is really interesting. like local 16-17 yo figures out stuff on his own that keyblade#wielders have struggled with for ages. I think his method would be a big help to Terra in particular.#I feel like what Xehanort was teaching him was less controlled burn and more use it with reckless abandon. like he talked a lot of shit#about ‘controlling the darkness’ but we know he was just trying to foster the darknesses control on Terra so he could use it to fuck with#him. Terra would definitely be hesitant to try to learn again after that but hopefully Riku will be able to communicate the base idea of it#inbetween searching for Sora.#honestly Darkness and it’s connection to fire is interesting to me. there’s maleficents green fire. that one move Riku uses a lot.#the appearance of darkness resembling fire is common (it’s either that or goop. shout out to darkness goop) which is odd#because fire is a light bringer. it’s probably meant to pull on the consuming power of fire but still#anyway i love him

🎃 TFTOBER 2024 !!
Tumblr media
Hey there!! I really wanted to participate in an October prompt list, but seeing as I've been really hooked on TF2 for this entire year, I figured it would be fun to do a TF2 themed list!!
If you participate, feel free to tag your posts w/ #tftober !!! I'd love to see what other people do <3 This list should be perfectly doable for any medium (art, writing, sfm, etc!)
Below the cut is a list of all the prompts with some extra flavor text/ideas! Things are kept vague in a typical drawing prompt fashion
DAY 1 - Main
Who's your main? Who do you play most often?
DAY 2 - Hats!
It's not called a glorified hat simulator for nothing! There's plenty of cosmetics at your fingertips in the game!
DAY 3 - Relationships
Everyone knows someone. Whether it's a family member, a friend, a lover, or even an arch nemesis!
DAY 4 - Pyrovision
Put on the goggles and take a look at things with a new perspective!
DAY 5 - Battlefield
Probably where a mercenary spends most of their time
DAY 6 - On Break
Battles don't rage on forever. You've gotta take a break eventually
DAY 7 - Offense
The front lines. The moving force
DAY 8 - Defense
The back lines. Makes sure nobody gets too far
DAY 9 - Support
Everything in between! Perhaps even the foundations of some teams
DAY 10 - Teamwork
It's not called TEAM Fortress for nothing, right?
DAY 11 - Fem Fortress
Happy Friday! Give some love to the girls!
DAY 12 - Free Space
Draw, write, or SFM to your heart's content! Do whatever you'd like!
DAY 13 - Respawn
Nobody stays dead.
DAY 14 - Capture the Flag
That briefcase isn't going to steal itself!
DAY 15 - Backstab
Should've checked behind you.
DAY 16 - Mann vs Machine
Guns and bullets or nuts and bolts? Who knows what could be running through those metallic minds...
DAY 17 - Expiration Date
Teleportation and bread. What else can I say?
DAY 18 - Headcannons
Think a little deeper. What do you just know has got to be true about the mercenaries?
DAY 19 - At home
Everyone comes from somewhere. Everyone has a home.
DAY 20 - Headshot
Looks like you stood a little bit too still.
DAY 21 - Alternate Universe
Emesis Blue? Lil' Pootis? A universe where the mercenaries are all alligators? The world is your oyster.
DAY 22 - Australium
A divine and valued substance rarer than gold
DAY 23 - Administrator
There's more to a war than just the fighters
DAY 24 - Pets
Some people have a soft spot for certain animals. Others choose to keep theirs around 24/7.
DAY 25 - Injury
An inevitability of war
DAY 26 - Control Points
A constant back and fourth
DAY 27 - Comics
Ink, panels, and pages. A story through words and pictures.
DAY 28 - Custom Class
Is nine really enough to cover everyone needed in a war? Probably not!
DAY 29 - Ubercharge
A miracle of medicine
DAY 30 - Sentry
Sometimes the best way to get good aim is to not be the one aiming
DAY 31 - Scream Fortress
Happy Halloween! Scream out to your heart's content and enjoy the spooks of the night!

Fentonic 2024 - A February Danny Phantom, Art/Writing Monthly Prompt
Tumblr media
Heya fellas! As I seen February did not have a monthly prompt yet for DP so I created one just for the kick of it! I made on for MLB with a very specific theme last October and I enjoyed it a lot so i thought i'd create another one, this time for DP as am mainly drawing for this fandom these days.
This challenge/prompt can be taken as a pure DP or a DC x DP (Batpham) one. If u wanna spice it up? You can even mix in other fandoms too! Go wild!
This challenge/prompt can be taken as both an art or a writing one, whichever you'd prefer. I tried to make it so all days can be both drawn and written with the given prompts (at least one of the two). Hope i managed it well enough.
As February is mainly know for Valentine's it will contain a few romatic prompts but most can be taken as platonic. For those not comfortable with writing or drawing romance: feel free to leave out that half of the prompt or even skip that day, no pressure.
Also let's not forget about the other half of it: winter. So stuff associated with it like cold, hot drinks, winter sports and more-
Prompts:
Day 1: Hibernation / Curse
Day 2: Locked out / Childhood friends AU
Day 3: A deadly accident / Snowboard
Day 4: Morning routine / Claws
Day 5: Soulmates AU / Torn paper
Day 6: Smug / Cupid's bow
Day 7: Cooking together / Roses
Day 8: Flirting / Viral
Day 9: Cuddling / Cape
Day 10: Holding hands / Love letter
Day 11: Chaos / Plushy
Day 12: Enemies to lovers / Love song
Day 13: Magical girl transformation / Hair dryer
Day 14: Snow storm / Dry
Day 15: Fur & fluff / Fireplace
Day 16: Failed confession / Ink blots
Day 17: Melting / Shackles
Day 18: Injury / Hot chocolate
Day 19: Mourning / Hug
Day 20: Stardust / Candies
Day 21: Timeloop / Scalpel
Day 22: Symbiosis / Cabin in the woods
Day 23: Love at first sight / Scarves
Day 24: Sleepy / Pink ribbon
Day 25: Skiing / Snowflakes
Day 26: Solitude / Mask
Day 27: Clothing swap / Clone
Day 28: Unexpected / Snack
Day 29: Sunset / Ice sculpture

Hope you guys will enjoy this little challenge I made! Cheers!

Shibusan was also selling Boueibu merch in August, including Ikaho collab merch until the end of September. Details here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
September 17th was Nanao's birthday. If you wanted this cake + cupcake set + macaron set in time for the day, then it should have been preordered until September 10th. This came with a bonus badge with the same design. The cake (which comes in 2 sizes - size 4: diameter: 12 cm, height: 5 cm and size 5: diameter: 15 cm, height: 7 cm) is in chocolate/chocolate cream and sponge/whipped cream varieties, with strawberries or yellow peaches inside for both (customer's choice), and the design is printed on to a sheet. The ink has a chance of running if you aren't careful. There are also Atsushi (preorder deadline: September 28th), Taishi (preorder deadline: September 29th), Kyotaro (preorder deadline: November 21st), Io (preorder deadline: December 10th) and Yumoto (preorder deadline: January 19th) versions. The cupcakes have a diameter of 8.4 cm, a height of 6.5 cm and come in a set of 4 - the cream on the cupcakes has matcha (green), chestnut (yellow), strawberry (pink) and chocolate (brown) and you can choose between black tea and orange peel/chocolate chip flavours for the cupcakes themselves. The macarons have a diameter of 4.3 cm, a height of 2.3 cm and come in a set of 6 - they come in strawberry (red), pistachio (green), orange (yellow) and chocolate (brown) flavours.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are also Christmas cakes + macarons (preorder deadline: December 17th if you want it by December 24th) and Valentine's Day cakes + macarons (deadline: presumably February 7th) which come with badges (2 possible designs, 1 can badge that matches the design of the cake you chose). The Christmas cakes only have strawberries, as opposed to the strawberries and yellow peaches of the Valentine's and birthday cakes. The cakes only come in size 5. The badges are 54 mm in diameter. There was also a 5% discount applied to preordered Christmas cakes between November 6th and November 12th 2023.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Shibukawa collab finished in September 2023. The crepes and drinks sold well. The collab page doesn't exist anymore, but there is a message from Shibukawa City: "To all the fans, thank you very much for coming to Ikaho time and time again. Look forward to the day we can hold another collab✰."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was an online lottery on sale from October 20th at 12:00 pm - November 6th 2023 at 11:59 pm (all dates/times JST), with items estimated to be received in mid-January 2024. 1 attempt was 880 yen (tax incl.).
For said online lottery, if you won the A prize (probability of getting: 4.1%), you could pick which of the 2 fabric posters you wanted:

The B prize was a set of acrylic stands (probability: 13.8%, random out of 10 different kinds):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The C prize was acrylic keychains (probability: 20.5%, random out of 10 different kinds). The Anime Bako account (which is posting these tweets) recommends attaching them to a bag when you go out:

There are also D prizes (1 of 10 random square can badges, probability: 27.4%) and E prizes (1 of 20 random Polaroid-style cards, probability: 34.2%):

On January 1st 2024, the Boueibu official Twitter (X) account wished everyone a year overflowing with love and happiness. Please remember the Boueibu series this year too.
(Update: In terms of fruit, the Christmas cakes only have strawberries, while the Valentine's Day cakes have the choice of strawberries or yellow peaches.)

Where Is The Next DreamWorks Movie?
Looking at all the official American slates for Universal Pictures, it would appear that DreamWorks Animation is released only one picture this calendar year, and that would happened to be a seemingly-untitled TROLLS sequel. The third overall, of course.
What is not known is that DreamWorks actually has a picture coming out this year, before TROLLS 3 debuts in the autumn. An original picture, at that. Apparently, the plan behind closed doors is to release one original movie and one sequel every calendar year. So far, we do know that DreamWorks intends to release KUNG FU PANDA 4 in the late winter of 2024, but nothing else is on their schedule besides that film and TROLLS 3. Not even a placeholder, you know, the sort of "Untitled DreamWorks"... The other animation studio that operates under Universal, the ever reliable hit-makers Illumination Entertainment, have MIGRATION set in stone for 12/22/2023 and DESPICABLE ME 4 inked for 7/3/2024. Nothing beyond that, though they do have various pictures in development. There's also, curiously, an untitled animated feature release from Universal set for 2/8/2024... Is this a DreamWorks movie? Likely not, if KUNG FU PANDA 4 is opening in March of that year. Two that close to each other? I don't think that's happening. Illumination? Maybe. A February release would be new for them... It could also be... Since Universal now owns the rights to this particular movie franchise... The next LEGO movie... After all, THE LEGO MOVIE and THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE opened in February to much success, THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART - sadly - not so much. Maybe KUNG FU PANDA 4 takes that February slot and abandons March, with the 2nd DWA title that year opening in the fall.
Anyways, I'll get on with it... There's stuff out there that confirms this... DreamWorks' next movie is a picture about sea monsters, it's titled MEET THE GILLMANS. It's on a Universal slate from Switzerland that pegs it at 6/30/2023, it's also been mentioned in various European marketing and promo stuff. There's concept art and images floating around the webs, too. The movie exists, yet it doesn't... Now, it's one thing to start a marketing campaign a mere four to five months before release. After all, Universal/DreamWorks did just that with THE BAD GUYS this past year and that film - budgeted at roughly $80m - did rather fine for itself. *But*, we knew the film *existed* as far back as 2018, when DreamWorks optioned the book series for a feature adaptation... There has been no formal announcement whatsoever with MEET THE GILLMANS. Only through tiny out-of-the-way scoop sites that I've never heard of and the title appearing on staffers' LinkedIn profiles and resumes. One of the hosts of the podcast Fine Tooning, without naming the movie, says it's coming out prior to TROLLS 3... Which, by the way, is actually called TROLLS BAND TOGETHER. Universal has yet to disclose that to the American public. The Swiss slate seems to indicate that TROLLS BAND TOGETHER, currently scheduled to release 11/17/2023, will open in mid-October instead. Which seems smart, because the current date puts it five days before Disney Animation's celebratory centennial musical fantasy WISH, which is sure to be the inverse of STRANGE WORLD and will make a good amount of money.
Curiously, 6/30/2023 puts MEET THE GILLMANS very close to... Pixar's ELEMENTAL, Sony's ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, and Disney's live-action/VFX-heavy LITTLE MERMAID remake... Until addition to a ton of blockbuster tentpoles.
A little while back, the original plan was to have an original picture open 3/24/2023. This was back when PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH carried a 9/23/2022 release date, and THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE was set for Christmas 2022. MARIO was pushed to 4/7/2023 to coincide with the opening of Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Hollywood. So that put PUSS in the Christmastime frame, and also made MIGRATION - ahem - migrate to Christmas 2023. GILLMANS has, rather covertly, taken MIGRATION's original intended summer slot. Or so it seems...
But why not mid-March for MARIO? Or better yet, March 10th? You know, MAR10? It's not like March is really stuffed... Like, does a SHAZAM! sequel that's kinda meaningless now in the grand scheme of things and a DUNGEONS & DRAGONS movie pose any kind of threat to the freakin' Super Mario Bros.? I think what could've worked well was having MARIO make March its domain, while MEET THE GILLMANS could open in late April - much like how THE BAD GUYS did - and get the jump on the family competition from LITTLE MERMAID, ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, and ELEMENTAL.
I don't believe in family films and animated films "cannibalizing" each other at the box office, but options are *slim* when it comes to affordability. If the average American family hit the flicks four times a calendar year back in 2014, think of how many times they can manage now, especially in the post-outbreak times we're living in. Ya know? MEET THE GILLMANS presumably cost around the same amount of money the previous string of DWA titles did (PUSS cost $90m, BAD GUYS about $80m, BOSS BABY around $82m), so not too too much is riding on it. If anything, I'm more worried about the Pixar film making back its presumably astronomical budget than this movie, but it'd suck to see another DreamWorks movie tank. Maybe there's no need to worry and they know how they're going to ride this all out...
That being said, it would be nice to know about the movie in question since it's less than half a year away at this point.

What's Happening with Twixtmas book/book box?
https://karenjcarlisle.com/2024/12/22/whats-happening-with-twixtmas-book-book-box/
Greetings gentle readers,
You are probably wondering what is happening with my upcoming book Twixtmas. Well, strap in. It’s a long story.
Originally, I planned to do a novella-length story, set after book one, and leading into the future book three. It was scheduled for release early December (before Christmas). Well, that is didn’t happen. Obviously. And I need to explain why.
What follows is a tale of woe, a tale of pain, a tale of frustration, and a plead for your patience, and my ongoing apologies.
The original plan:
As I said, I had planned a novella length story, about 70-80 pages long (comparable to Cogs and Conspiracies and Blood Ties). Pre-orders were priced accordingly at AU$18 (incl postage within Australia), with the final book price expected to be around AU$20 (incl post), and the book box pre-order price of AU$80 (also including postage), and post-release price of AU$85. Those of you who have already pre-ordered will still get your book (or book box) at the original price.
Why it’s changed:
You’ve most likely seen my blog or social medica posts about my mental health journey and chronic health issues. For those who don’t know, I have PTSD and anxiety, have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, migraine, and several other health issues. This year, I’ve also had heart issues (and was just recently cleared – yay!). I’ve also finally admitted I need a walking cane on bad days. The most annoying part is any, or all, of these can flare up after events, when triggered and, worst of all, without notice. And it sucks. Big time.
After a run of three events in (end of ) October, November, and early December (well, it was my own fault), I hit a wall. I had a pain flare that meant I was out of commission for almost three weeks. I pushed myself to catch up and managed to claw back about two weeks.
Then summer hit early, with a vengence (wrapped in a prickly blanket of anxiety). Both are triggers for my fibromyalgia. Cue another three weeks of hell! I haven’t had a flare this bad in years. I was unable to sit, stand, get in and out of the shower, or lie down without assistance. I’m just grateful my Dearheart is understanding; he acted as a part-time carer for the first two weeks. (He’s a keeper.) After crying in pain til 2am, I ended up at the doctor. The meds had my loopy, unable to drive (and not a legally-responsible adult for a week).
By now I was almost five weeks behind schedule.
A mini-heatwave heralded another pain flare, which is ongoing. I’m currently in my fourth week of this pain flare. I have good days and bad days, and have to limit my time sitting at the computer.
Where I’m up to now:
I managed to finish the mammoth structural edit before the second wave hit. I’m now working my first pass of major line edits. (This usually takes 2-3 passes), and have one chapter left. Then I start all over again. If you’ve pre-ordered the book or the 12 days of Twixtmas book box, then you should have received three updates by now explaining each set back and updated information on the story.
Chapters 1 to 4 are with my editor. Chapters 5-11 are with my alpha reader. I will hopefully be finishing rewrite #2a before Christmas, and will be starting the next rewrite pass after a few days break (to try to squash the current pain flare).
Book Art: Pencil sketches are done. They just need to be digitally inked.
The Good News:
Looks like the book will be longer than first expected. Here’s the figures:
Original expected length: 17,000 words (Novella length: approx 70-80 pages).
Original chapters: 6
Current length: 47, 579 words (still with a chapter to go).
Recalculated expected length: 45-50,000 words (Novel length: approx 170-200 pages). (Note: This count may change slightly with the next round of rewrites.) This is comparable to Doctor Jack & Other Tales in length.
Expected chapters: 12-13
Book Art: there will be 3 original (drawn by me) images in the paperback.
What this means to you, Dear Reader:
This means the book will be more than twice the length I had originally envisioned. (The characters made me do it! There’s also a few easter eggs and hints for book three. 😉 Spoilers!). I’ll need to recalculate print costs for the larger book before publication day, so you’ll see an increase in the book and book box costs soon.
Patrons will receive the first copies, followed by pre-orders. I hope to have these posted a week or two before publication. Those who have already pre-ordered paperbacks or book boxes will have the original cost honoured (and thank you for your patience) are getting value for your money.
My sincere apologies for the delay. I will keep you all posted.
Rescheduled publication date:
Watch this space.
Seriously, it doesn’t look like the book will be out til January, 2025.
Thank you, again for your understanding and patience.
Further information about Twixtmas:
Twixtmas will be available in paperback and eBook. Book art will be in the paperback only.

No Impact On Exam Eligibility For Voters In Lok Sabha Elections
The National Testing Agency (NTA) issued a clarification on Tuesday regarding messages circulating on social media, which claim that individuals who vote in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and have their fingers inked will not be allowed to enter examination halls.
Tumblr media
"The above messages are completely baseless, and NTA has not issued any such instruction or guideline. Students are requested not to pay heed to such rumours and to exercise their voting rights. Voting will not affect their eligibility to take examinations," the NTA said in an official release.
The testing agency advised students to focus on their studies and prepare for the forthcoming examinations.
In a major relief to students who missed the opportunity earlier to apply for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) 2024 due to various reasons, the National Testing Agency (NTA) today reopened the registration window.
The application window opened today and will close on April 10 at 11.50pm. Interested and eligible candidates can apply by visiting the official website.
NEET (UG) 2024 will be held on May 5 from 2pm to 5.20pm nationwide and in 14 cities outside the country in pen and paper (offline) mode.
For further queries regarding the NEET (UG) - 2024 examination, candidates are advised to contact 011-40759000 or email at [email protected].
The Lok Sabha elections, taking place between April 19 and June 1 this year, have resulted in the rescheduling of various exams. Various competitive and entrance exams, including UPSC Civil Service prelims and NEET PG, have been rescheduled due to the elections. Other affected exams include the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT CET), The Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture & Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TS EAPCET), The Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (TS POLYCET), and Chartered Accountant (CA) exams.
Here are the revised dates for some exams:
MHT CET (PCM and PCB): The exam originally scheduled for April 16-30 will now be held from May 2-17 for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and April 22-30 for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). Admit cards will be issued 10 days before the exam.
JEE Main 2024: The entrance test will now take place from April 4-12 instead of the earlier schedule of April 4-15.
TS EAPCET 2024: The Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture & Pharmacy Common Entrance Test-2024 (TS EAPCET-2024) will be held from May 9-12 in two shifts. The exam will take place in two sessions, the first from 9 am to 12 noon, and the second between 3pm and 6pm.
TS POLYCET: The Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (TS POLYCET) has been rescheduled from May 17 to May 24. The entrance test will last for two hours and 30 minutes, held from 11 am to 1.30pm.
AP EAPCET 2024: The Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test, which was earlier slated for May 13-19, will now take place from May 16-22.
UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024: The UPSC prelims will now be held on June 16 instead of the earlier schedule of May 26.
NEET PG 2024: The NEET PG exam has been rescheduled to June 23. The results will be declared by July 15, and counselling for admissions is scheduled from August 5 to October 15.
ICAI CA May Exams 2024: ICAI CA Intermediate Group 1 will be held on May 3, 5, and 9 instead of May 7 while Group 2 exams will take place on May 11, 15, and 17 instead of the original schedule of May 9, 11, and 13.

The Vicious Things Republi(Cunts) Have Said About Palestinians Since October 7
“The Costs of Saying Things That are Undeniably and Horrifically Dehumanizing Toward Palestinians are So Low.”
— Prem Thakker | April 4, 2024
Tumblr media

Michigan Republi(Cunt) Boak Bollocks Senile Oaf Rep. Tim Walberg recently declared at a town hall that the U.S. “Shouldn’t Be Spending a Dime on Humanitarian Aid,” in Gaza. Instead, he posed, “it should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Get it over quick.”
After the shocking statement went viral, his office tried to soften the blow. It provided a full transcript of Walberg’s comments to CNN, which reported that Walberg had also said that a similar logic could be applied to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “Defeat Putin quick. Instead [of] 80% in Ukraine being used for humanitarian purposes, it should be 80-100% to wipe out Russia, if that’s what we want to do.”
Walberg then attempted to walk the comment back in a statement, in which he said he was not suggesting that nukes be used to end either war. Yet there’s no denying that he invoked horrifying instances of the U.S. dropping atomic bombs in reference to Gaza — just the latest vicious, warmongering statement by a Republican lawmaker since October 7.
While Walberg’s comments received a fair amount of critical media coverage, the response from his congressional colleagues was muted — underscoring a stark double standard in the public treatment of those who advocate for Palestinian rights, and those who dehumanize them.
Members of Congress like Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; and Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., have long been pilloried — and even censured — by their colleagues for speaking out against Israel’s brutal treatment of Palestinians, while the media class has spilled boats-worth of ink on bad-faith interpretations of the progressive Democrats’ statements. Republicans who belittle, or even encourage, Palestinian suffering have typically generated no such equal, let alone proportional, response.
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries did not respond to questions about what party leadership is doing in response to lawmakers’ callous comments about Palestinians, especially as the death toll in Gaza continues to rise.
Yousef Munayyer, a political analyst and senior fellow at the Arab Center Washington DC, noted that the cost of misspeaking — or having comments misconstrued — on Israel is unparalleled.
“The social and political costs of stepping on the taboos of saying anything that could be even possibly misconstrued as antisemitic are so high,” Munayyer told The Intercept. “And yet the costs of saying things that are undeniably and horrifically dehumanizing toward Palestinians are so low. I don’t know of a double standard as extreme as that on any other issue.”
Republi(Cunts’) Hunger For Violence began just days after Hamas’s attack against Israel on October 7. “We are in a religious war here, I’m with Israel,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., declared on October 11, in an appearance on Fox News. “Do whatever the hell you have to do to defend yourself. Level the place.” (Graham later said that no amount of civilian casualties in Gaza would prompt him to scrutinize Israel’s conduct.)
Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., echoed Graham’s bloodlust on Fox in mid-October. “As far as I’m concerned, Israel can bounce the rubble in Gaza,” said the senator who famously called for the Trump administration to sic the military on protesters at the height of the George Floyd uprising. “Anything that happens in Gaza is the responsibility of Hamas. Hamas killed women and children in Israel last weekend,” he added. In the months to come, Israel would go on to kill over 25,000 Palestinian women and children.
In the House of Representatives, Republicans have taken glee in fantasizing about Palestinian suffering.
On October 11, Ohio Rep. Max Miller lambasted Tlaib for planting a Palestinian flag outside her congressional office. He refused to recognize Palestine as a state, calling it “a territory that’s about to probably get eviscerated and go away here shortly, as we’re going to turn that into a parking lot.”
A few days later, Miller’s colleague Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., took the unusual step of donning the military garb of a foreign country in the halls of the Congress — wearing an Israel Defense Forces uniform he earned while volunteering for the country’s military in 2015. Shortly thereafter, he introduced an amendment that would slow down humanitarian aid to Gaza. “Any assistance should be slowed down — any assistance,” Mast said in a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on the bill. “Because I would challenge anybody in here to point to me, which Palestinian is Hamas, and which one is an innocent civilian? … It should absolutely be every effort made to slow down any perceived assistance that’s going there.”
Mast later tripled down. “I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of ‘innocent Palestinian civilians,’ as is frequently said,” Mast said on the House floor. “I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”
In late January, when asked about the babies Israeli forces have killed in Gaza, Mast responded coldly: “These are not innocent Palestinian civilians.” Confronted with the idea that Israel has destroyed more infrastructure in Gaza than was destroyed in Dresden during World War II, Mast said, “There’s more infrastructure that needs to be destroyed,” repeated the line, and promised “there will be more that gets destroyed.” Finally, he vowed to do everything he could to stop the government from supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. Mast described the creation of UNRWA as “moronic”; last month, Congress voted to defund the agency for a full year, even as a widespread famine looms over Gaza.
In late February, Tennessee Republican Andy Ogles vilely dismissed protesters who took issue with their taxes going toward killing children.
“I’ve seen the footage of shredded children’s bodies — that’s my taxpayer dollars going to bomb those kids,” a protester said.
“You know what, so, I think we should kill ’em all,” Ogles responded. “If that makes you feel better.”(His spokesperson later claimed to The Tennessean that he “was not referring to Palestinians, he was clearly referring to the Hamas terrorist group.”)
The protesters cited Israeli forces starving women and children, killing over 300 health care workers, and “sniping Christian women in churches” as war crimes. Ogles, however, instead responded only to being called an “AIPAC zombie” with “Death to Hamas.”
Tumblr media
In early March, a flustered Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, also of Tennessee, yelled at a Palestinian American protester from Gaza, who has now lost over 100 family members in Israel’s war.
“They are not guilty of genocide,” the Republican said of Israel, which the world’s highest court and a U.S. district court have both said is plausibly committing genocide in Gaza. “You can tell the Palestinians — I will never support them!”
“I am a Palestinian myself,” a protester responded.
“Then I will tell you, I will never support you,” Fleischmann screamed back. “I will tell you to your face: Goodbye to Palestine!”
After Months of this Behavior From Republi(Cunts), not one has been censured by their colleagues, not one has been savaged by the media for days on end, not one been cast as a poster child of the virulent anti-Palestinian racism flowing through American institutions.
Meanwhile, last year, Jayapal was pilloried by Republicans and thrown under the bus by fellow Democrats for suggesting that Israel — which has for decades committed human rights abuses, engaged in land dispossession and home demolition, and maintained separate systems of law and a militarized police state against Palestinians — is a “racist state.”
Jayapal walked back her comments after the pile-on, singling out Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for its racist practices instead. Still, Ogles and his colleagues Randy Weber and Jeff Duncan filed a resolution seeking to censure Jayapal for what they said was antisemitism, though the resolution did not name a single instance of Jayapal saying anything negative about Jewish people.
The attacks were familiar. Tlaib — the only Palestinian member of Congress — was attacked last year for supporting an event raising awareness about the Nakba, the series of events beginning in 1948 that led to the mass displacement of Palestinians. The smears massively escalated as she was censured — with the help of 22 Democrats — in November, after she criticized the Israeli government and called for Palestinian liberation.
Omar, likewise, has been subject to constant scrutiny by her own party for her criticism of Israel, accused of antisemitism for allegedly singling Israel out — even though she has been a consistent critic of other human rights-violating governments, from Saudi Arabia and China to El Salvador and Russia. Those attacks paved the way for Republicans to boot her from the Foreign Affairs Committee last February, after they retook control of the House.
“Democrats too often are willing to go along with what are obviously bad-faith smears against other Democrats, whereas Republicans simply don’t give a shit. And that creates this situation where you can easily bait Democrats into this issue repeatedly,” Munayyer said. “That’s a choice that Democrats are making, and they don’t have to make that choice.”
That’s not to mention the Democrats who have made anti-Palestinian remarks themselves, from Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Ill., accusing a Palestinian American of “trying to kill every Jew,” to Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., discounting the death toll of children killed in Gaza. Beyond Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman’s continued insistence on supporting Israel’s mass civilian killing campaign unconditionally, he has repeatedly dismissed and mocked protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza or mobilizing voters against Biden’s Gaza policy.
Lara Friedman, president of the Foundation for Middle East Peace, said that the question of acceptable language on Israel and Palestine often comes down to whether the orator is supportive of Israel or not: “It’s never really about what any of them say.”
