in another world where I was given full naming rights over the rats I share with my housemate I would have two rats named (infernity) launcher and (infernity) beetle
instead we have rumble and frenzy (casualties of a joint transformers hyperfixation)
my rats having a matching duo name VS my desire to name one of them infernity launcher
#ONE DAY i will name a pet after a yugioh card ONE DAY.#I'm absolutely adamant I'm going to name a cat infernity doom archfiend or chimeratech rampage dragon and no one can stop me

Kalin for the ask meme?
YEEAHH KALIN havent thought hard about him in a hot minute let's goooo
Why I like them/why I don’t: THIS GUY TRULY HAS IT ALL. he killed a cop (based.) he died and came back wrong and then died again. the Yugioh Character Urge to Want to Kill Yourself. he had a Loud Cackling Freak mode. he's a MISERABLE COWBOY. he's grimy and hot. his dub and sub voices both go hard. he could even be transfem.
What I like about their appearance: i love kalin's hair....across all three of his 'designs' it's such a strong element with that stringy white sort of shaggy look. the Crashtown gun duel disk is also just insanely cool. the whole cowboy fit tbh.
Do I prefer their dub names or original names?: i like both but i do think Kalin Kessler has a particularly lovely ring to it. it feels very 'cowboy' so it's especially fitting.
OTP: i do like yusei/kalin quite a bit, it has a lot of fun avenues it can go in. it can be messy as fuck. it can be struggling through healing. it can be divorce. kalin died in yusei's fuckign arms. my GOD.
NOTP: idek...team satisfaction as a polyam ship im not really into but thats less because of kalin and more because yusei jack and crow are brothers to me lmao
OT3: i do think yusei/akiza/kalin is fun especially if you start doing some dyke maneuvers to it.
Favourite card they use: I LOVE INFERNITY DOOM DRAGON A LOT. IT HAS GOOGLY EYES!!!!
Favourite moment they were in: will forever be obsessed with when he just starts firing a sawed off shotgun at the baddies in the fucked up crashtown mine. DOUBLY so in the dub where they like?!? changed the bullet effects to PLASMA BLASTS?!?? FALLOUT NEW VEGAS.
Least favourite moment: it is like. obscenely fucked up what happened to him in prison. like. jesus fucking christ.
Something I associate with them: THE HUMBLE AND HARDY OPOSSUM
#ygo posting#asks#anonymous#kalin is like 'by all means he should have been The 5ds danaguy' before my brain got robot blasted#also character that is a woman to me. give her a bit

What The Fuck Is Wrong With Tief Hel: (Grand)Parental Pacts, Patrons, and Pain. or, Why Hel Looks Like That Instead Of Like The Rest of Her People.
TW for body horror, health discussion. Long post, consider reading on blog rather than dash.
PT. 1: WHAT’S THE DAMAGE
For those not in the loop/who are being introduced to this muse on this blog rather than her old solo venture, we’re dealing with an AU version of my mythological Hel muse. In Norse mythos, Hel is a goddess of the dead, and has a vision that represents the limbo in which she serves. A living entity who rules over a realm of death, to one side she is a legendary beauty – and on the other, a horrifying corpse woman. Think Two-Face but substantially more Goth/Upsetting.
This is a deformity I carry into all of her verses, because disability in the divine is kind of an awesome concept actually, but the whole ‘half dead’ thing sometimes doesn’t translate very well into different verses. Sometimes, she instead has severe life-altering burns over half of her body, sometimes she just has a skin/muscle/nerve condition that largely effects one side, and sometimes it’s just a form of partial mummification in terms of look. One side of her will always, however, be affected by a chronic condition involving skin/muscle/veins/nerves. I’ll dig deeper into what this means for her mobility and health later. For now, we’re speaking strictly on what her actual appearance is.
In the verse in question – Galdur’s Bait 3 – I follow the schema of ‘disfiguring skin condition with underlying issues beneath said skin.’ That is to say, her left side is looking rather withered, skin drawn tight against her bones, looking fragile and rather spent. It isn’t a perfectly even 50/50 spread, but does appear to ebb and flow more to the right or only taking up a small fraction of her left side. It runs from her brow down to her feet themselves, though she dresses to obscure this fact and make it appear it’s only her face affected. It’s actually a key part of her early romance arc that she exposes her condition to the PC in full.
The impression this gives is… Unsettling. I’ll also go more into depth with this in a later point, but most common folk prefer not to look at Hel, and it’s often assumed she’s under the effect of some curse or an Undead. The point is, she barely looks like a natural Tiefling… Which is not an incorrect assumption, actually. Hel wasn’t created by cavorting with Cambions or trueborn tieflings having trysts. She’s not of Asmodeus, Mephistopheles, or Z*riel’s loins, metaphorically or otherwise.
Hel’s infernal lineage was a gift, you see. An Infernal gift, of course, but not from any of the usual suspects. She doesn’t owe her race or appearance to a Demon.
She owes it to a Dragon.
PT. 2: DAMAGE GETS DONE
Hel is not a first generation adventurer. She’s not even second generation. Lifetimes ago, there was a band of adventurers traipsing through the North. Two of these will be important to this meta moving forward – Farbauti Sudden-Striker, a Reghed Barbarian, and Laufey Liesmith, an Ill*skan of N*therese descent. As stated, Farbauti was a melee build, while Laufey supported he and their companions with magics. That should come as no surprise, given her heritage as one of the diaspora of that doomed empire, nor should her prodigious talent with the Weave.
Pivotal to this story, however, is the fact Laufey was an ambitious woman, and one who sought to supplement her already great powers with something more. The much touted Sorlock who built upon her inborn Sorcerer capabilities with a Warlock Pact, she worked tirelessly to hide that fact from others. Such an attempt to hide her deal only highlighted its nature: Infernal.
And there was plenty of reason to hide that fact. Not only was the North none too kind to such meddling, but she had not settled for more minor Patrons. Between her alarming natural power and her excellent breeding, she would serve only the best and darkest – or the most colorful, as the case might be. All of this pride led her to the altar of a then-Archdevil. With mutual aims towards power and control, and the agreement that Laufey would tirelessly serve her lady’s aims for domination and treasure both, Laufey signed herself to Tiam*t during her reign over Avernus.
She served with grace and discretion, collecting gold and land in service of her dark lady. Driven but lawful, many would be put off by such loyalties. Farbauti, for his part, was drawn into that gravity. Beautiful, brilliant, and with a distinct danger about her, Laufey was a lady worth fighting for, someone whose wit could help his own ambitions come to fruition. Theirs was a perfectly balanced union that produced two sons.
That is where it all falls apart. Despite being Humans both, the pairs first son was born wrong, possessing his father’s crimson hair, his mother’s pale complexion, and both a tail and the first hint of future horns. Laufey’s pact came back to haunt her during a lull in her adventuring, but the boy – Loki -- bore no outwards signs of her Lady’s favor besides the difference in race. The family left the North, finding it inhospitable for their son, and seemed like they might have made it.
A second son was the death of Laufey. The loss of Laufey was not the end of Tiam*t’s stain on the family.
Loki, for his part, took up his parents adventuring ways as he came of age. His lifestyle eventually led him to the Storm Horns, where he fell in with a Goliath clan and made something of a more permanent life with its leader. Each of their children were, per the rules of the setting, Tiefs like their father. The first son was about as normal as the offspring of such a union could be, reflecting more of a Goliath’s height and build as he grew. The second son had a strange way of growing scales rather than the natural ridges of his people, but was otherwise to standard.
And then there was his only daughter. Hel, who was born horrific, with disfigurements that could not be solved by magic and failing health that eventually saw her sent away from the mountain as an act of mercy. Her apparently degenerative, accursed appearance was much speculated about, but ultimately chalked up to divine mischief: Her father was an agent and acolyte of Mask, and his daughter’s conception lined up eerily with the end of a conflict against the Church of Cyr*c.
Those who look closely enough, however, will notice a few traits that point instead to her grandmother’s Patron, and perhaps even a sort of ‘blessing’ from the Chromatic Dragon.
PT. 3: SYMPTOMS AND SOCIETAL SIDE-EFFECTS
Maybe you’re saying to yourself, ‘Wow, Kadi, what interesting backstory lore you cooked up for your playthrough!’ More likely you’re saying, ‘Why the fuck did this bitch make me read that entire wall of text???’ Either way, I’m sure you’re at the conclusion of ‘What the shit does that have to do with your thesis statement?’ And I’m here to answer that question, with sources.
First, let’s get a little more in-depth with Hel’s appearance: The grey-tinted skin of her Goliath heritage, the slightly above average height that is also a gift from her mother, the back-swept horns and the prehensile tail and the vibrant eyes swimming in pools of black sclera that are so common among Tiefls. But the first thing anyone will notice about this woman is aforementioned textural/disfigurements from part one.
That isn’t just for show, by the way. It’s far more than skin deep. Per a past meta I wrote on the subject:
“For the most part, these aforementioned malformations outwardly exhibit themselves in neurological damage to her sensory and motor capabilities. This damage is commonly expressed in loss of sensation, reduced range of motion, and muscle weakness, as well as occasional fits of twitching or shaking in her extremities, digits, or facial muscles. More rarely, she might deal with temporary bouts of pain and partial paralysis through her rotted half, both of which can be quite debilitating and interrupt her routines, or even leave her bedridden in especially severe cases. Besides these neurological issues, there’s also the matter of reduced blood flow and vein problems running through half of her body. There is an underlying heart issue at play here, which poses a much more sizable risk than her constant but stabilized nerve problems. Coldness of extremities might be the most obvious that many will see – or in this case, feel. – but it’s just the first of many underlying problems. Lethargy and fatigue can also put Hel out of commission for a time, and can be especially worrisome when coupled with the aforementioned, infrequent periods of nerve pain. The moment where these two issues really wreak havoc on each other is when swelling of extremities puts further strain on Hel’s already damaged nerves.”
So what we have is Hel, who was born with debilitating but far from fatal chronic pain, which cannot be healed by any means. She also has visible malformations that only make her life more difficult-- this is not an invisible struggle on her part. It has been quoted in past editions that Tiam*t, dubbed the Undying Queen, is not fond of healing magics, and all but demands her faithful embrace pain to come out the other side of it stronger. It’s not an immediate tell of her heritage/the cause of recent Infernal twists on the family tree, and indeed no one is likely to cotton on to this side of Tiam*t’s doctrine in line with Laufey’s only granddaughter, but from a Meta perspective it can be inferred that Hel has suffered for all 35 years as a counterbalance or even as a sign of favor for her grandmother’s loyal service.
There’s more to it than wounds that will not heal/physical pain builds character, however. There’s physical tells unrelated to her malformations that also act as a walking advertisement of a Pact made generations before.
As has been pointed out to me by a friend, there is one aspect of Tiam*t that has endured through all editions and depictions. It’s a subtle thing, but the shape of her tail is singular. While Hel does not have a 1:1 ‘recreation’ of this aspect, she sure doesn’t have the standard spade or smooth tapering end that many Tiefs possess a their tips. It much more resembles a stinger, though the cartilage is neither hard/sharp enough to actually be used as a weapon, and this ‘stinger’ lacks the venomous capabilities of Tiam*t’s own tail. There is also the fact Hel’s ridges are scale-like in texture, which is something she shares in common with a brother.
Of course, the average person is not going to look at Hel and put together ‘Ah, Tiam*t influence.’ They are going to look at her and ask if she’s dying, planning on leaving anytime soon because she’s frightening the children and a fair few adults, or just draw weapons on what they take for an Undead. Too few people want to look at her long enough or have a deep enough understanding of the Chromatic Dragon’s aesthetics/doctrine to draw the correct conclusion. Even if they did and passed a perception check to recognize her for what she is, it’s just another mark against her, another reason to drive her out or draw blades.
That’s not likely to happen, however. Not even Hel’s own family can put the pieces together about her connection to the grandmother she so favors, as the family’s bet is actually on the fact her father pissed off Cyr*c before riding home to sire her.
PT. 4: LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
So that’s how we got here. What does it mean for Hel moving forward?
Well… not a lot. She’s not particularly invested in the Infernal, and already sold herself off to K*lemvor as a Cleric decades ago. Her grandmother is long dead and buried, so learning the truth from Laufey is a non-starter. Hel has a perfectly serviceable answer for why she is ‘like this’ in the assumption about Loki’s past activities she’s been made aware of. The strangeness has thus far gone no further than her, as in both endgames where she has kids they’re far more baseline as Tiefs go.
She’ll still have that wound that will not heal in her physical capabilities, but then, she’d have that even if there was a less fantastical reason for their existence. Even if someone were to come forward tomorrow and out all of this to her the day after the epilogue, there’s not much she can do with the information.
It can, however, open the door for several adventure hooks. I’ve even toyed with loose ends tying party lore together in Laufey’s cult was the seed from which grew the attempted attack on the Gate that another companion thwarted. That both have something to lay to rest while dragging their mutual friends along for the ride. That in any ending that leads the party to Avernus, there’s either roses or scorn thrown at one who reeks of the Chromatic Dragon. That the shades of the past start reaching out for Hel, drawn either to her resemblance to Laufey or her future friction with her chosen God. And then there is always the long-shot possibility someone recognizes Hel for these ‘tells’ of a past pact with Tiam*t and comes to collect a pound of flesh or incorrectly assess she’s caught up in worship of the Dragon in question.

Cambiums are an unnerving looking fiend. Their body is always concealed under voluminous robes or cloaks, often with wide brimmed hats or plague doctor masks. The only part of them ever properly seen is their arms, which number over a dozen and sometimes even seem to make up their body itself below the robes. Many of these arms have multiple elbows, and all end in hands with long, needle-like claws. In fact, these claws are even hollow and can draw out blood (or other fluids) from those they impale, which the cambion is a master of using to manipulate the target's bodily humors.
Cambiums infiltrate humanoid society to gather these humors, siphoning off precise amounts for their own purposes. Whether to supplement their own body, or to mix all manner of serums and concoctions to sell as cure-alls or hellish drinks, they carefully hunt for the proper sources and curate their collection. Long term victims will experience all manner of mood swings and even addiction, becoming dependent on the cambium's treatments, until they are eventually used up and no longer useful, at which point the cambium abandons them.
Golarion
Cambiums are a member of the velstrac, Shadow Plane dwelling fiends who delve into fear, pain, and all many of surgery and magic to improve themselves. While many velstrac are more interested in transformative surgery, shaping bodies by adding or removing whole parts of the creature, cambiums explore much more limited methods of perfection. Rather than perfecting their body by remaking it, they play with the humors within, seeking perfection of mind and mood by careful manipulation. It may seem less brutal than carving off an arm to swap with another, but the effects the cambium's experiments have on its "patients" are still horrifically traumatic.
Dragon Empire
Cambiums almost seem benign compared to most demons. Rather than utter annihilation, they pick out a few particular targets and will simply perform their experiments and harvests from there, generally choosing to leave the rest of the humanoid population they encounter alive. Not that the chosen few will appreciate the attention. The Diabolist finds cambiums fascinating and a bit easier to deal with than many other demons, as she doesn't have to subtly hold them back from plans of global destruction to get what she wants. Whether they genuinely have no interest in the same war that other demons thrive on, or their goals are much longer term and they don't mind playing the Diabolist's games is not clear.

Why you should vote for each of them and full art below!
Procyoneras Lotoran Leracunin III, Destroyer of Worlds and Bane of Galaxies (by @flyingbooks42 for Three Raccoons in a Trenchcoat)
Is a raccoon who wants to destroy the universe (and is extremely over-dramatic about that), and has ultimate failswag. I've played this character across two different games, and in the first one (a one-shot) they microwaved themselves on-purpose because they thought that the microwave was a doomsday machine operated from the inside. The second game (played across two sessions) was where they really started to get their failswag, since they failed almost all of their rolls to a statistically highly improbable degree. They literally failed at running in the right direction - towards the robot dog guardian rather than towards the alien ship. One of the few successes they had was at disassembling a robot dog, which they turned into a helmet that they think makes them look like a fearsome destroyer of worlds, but put it on badly so that they can't see anything plus it makes them look silly. After that, when trying to go to the alien ship they accidentally ran into a portal, which teleported them to a dimension occupied by an eldritch dragon. They immediately (still unable to see) used silly little raccoon gestures (which in their mind was a grand proclamation) to request allies in destroying the world - nay, the universe - nay, the multiverse itself - and the dragon interpreted it as a mating dance. They continued (mis)communicating with the dragon and the dragon decided to marry them, all the time thinking that it was their new ally in destroying the world (ah, "marriage" must be part of its kind's pre-world-destuction customs). Also, the dragon came to believe that destroying worlds was a common honeymoon custom. At the marriage itself, they thought that the wedding clothes were armor (they were made of mutant-eldritch-australian-spider silk, so I guess they kind of were) and thought that all of the wedding guests were their legion of doom. Through all of the entire game, they rolled barely any successes at all, even partial successes, despite partial success being meant to be statistically likely, but they did fail forwards into failstardom.
17 Chickadee Lane (Dee) (by @sauntervaguelydownward for Monster of the Week)
Dee is a house. A haunted house, though not in the traditional sense of holding ghosts. Many years ago, someone made a deal with a demon in this house, and the infernal taint caused a cascade of violence and tragedy for all who tried to make a home there. Over time, the energy that clings to such places became a sort of sentience, and Dee awoke.
At first it lashed out spitefully at any who dared enter, killing some and driving the rest away. Its historic status as one of the oldest buildings in the city kept it standing, but its cursed status kept any but thrill seekers and ghost hunters from creeping in. One of those was Daniel. The house struck at him, and Daniel said "Sorry." He said "Please." He treated the house like a person with reason and agency rather than a mindless force or a piece of property. Dee let him go, and started looking for a way to venture outside its walls.
It learned that by siphoning energy from humans, it can create a human-like projection. Its essence remains with its foundation, but it can extend part of itself to observe and interact with people outside. The projection has no fixed appearance; it looks like an AI-generated fusion of the last several people it siphoned, and sometimes goes a little blurry around the edges. Despite its view of most humans as parasites who bring misery wherever they go, it found itself growing attached to a little group of them. They are its friends, and that is more important to it than it shows.
Dee’s emotional intelligence is… underdeveloped. Like a small child, it struggles to express or even understand its own feelings beyond “I like this, I dislike that” - but it feels strongly nonetheless. It has seen affection and tenderness in its former residents and desires those things for itself, even as it believes that they always end terribly. It lashes out aggressively at anyone it sees as dismissive or disrespectful (don’t intrude on its personal space - a house takes trespassing very seriously) but it clings to anyone who treats it 'like a person'. Its idea of what it means to be a person is nebulous, but that's what it wants more than anything.

History
An old denizen of Álfheimr, where once Nidhogg was a dark elf, whatever existed of that great guardian of the Underworld, has fallen away to the creature that he is today. An oathbreaker, Nidhogg betrayed the Elder Gods and stole the life force of one of the Great Old Ones, feasting on its demonic ichor to steal the creature’s power for himself. To rise above the ranks of his compatriots and transform into the terrifying serpent that he was doomed to become. A fate foretold by the Graeae, Nidhogg was banished into the shadow realm, the void from which there would be no escape. Nidhogg writhed within invisible chains, Nidhogg feasted on the roots of the world tree and devoured the creatures of shadow that had found their way to the shores of Náströnd. It was here that the elves of old, both dark and light, were cast for treachery or betrayal: ancient warriors who’d broken oaths, murdered their own kind, or committed other unspeakable acts against those of like elven blood. Nidhogg would consume them, devour them and add their power to his own, those that lived learned to hide from his infernal gaze, cowering creatures that shrunk into the bones that the dragon spat from its maw. There they would wander until the shadows twisted them into the inevitable eldritch shadow beasts that in the coming millennia the drow would subjugate and command.
The Spider Goddess Lloth brought with her a pact, an agreement that allowed Ayi’ig and the drow that followed her the ability to reach into this realm, to pass through it, and manipulate it as they saw fit. While the priests of Lloth slipped into the realm of shadow and dominated these fallen warriors, Queen Ayi’ig set her gaze upon Nidhogg, a fallen God of unknown origins, long forgotten in his wrangling. Dracaenae, they would come to call his kind, but Ayi’ig broke his chains, healed his mind, and came to call him friend. She released him from his prison and brought him into the Underdark, then at last to the Otherworld where he stood faithfully as her Queensguard, loyal to the bitter end to a queen whom he worshiped above all others. It was Ayi’ig’s dream to provide her long neglected people with a home, she made unsettling allies and formed pacts that were beneath her, but Nidhogg saw with clarity that all that she’d done was for the greater good. Oathbreaker he had once been, but oathbreaker he was no more, the serpent had shed its skin.
Connections
Hypnos: Raised side by side in Álfheimr, Níðhöggr was a guardian of those that Hypnos watched over - the slumbering Gods. He betrayed his sacred oath and was cast into the shadow realm beneath the roots of the world tree where he would fly above the shore of corpses.
Thanatos: Once companions of Álfheimr, Níðhöggr betrayed his sacred oath and was cast into the shadow realm beneath the roots of the world tree where he would fly above the shore of Náströnd.
Keket: Distant relatives, the two are connected and are the antithesis of one another. Demigod turned deity, and dracaenae turned divine.
Abilities
Immortal: Undying, born of a Great Old One and a dark elf, Nidhogg is an ageless dracaenae and therefore immortal.
Draconic: Capable of transforming into a dragon, when shifted Nidhogg can breathe a heatless, ethereal flame that burns the soul of whomever it comes into contact with.
Dehydration: With physical contact Nidhogg is able to drain all the moisture from anything that he touches.
Shadowed: Able to move freely between the shadow realm and the mortal realm, can travel freely between the mortal realm and the Otherworld without a gate by traveling first through shadows.
Weaknesses
Divine: Incapable of telling a lie.
Wrought: Iron will burn him, it’s one of the few metals capable of piercing his skin.
Bound: Several witches, fey, or druids together can restrain Nidhogg or bind him to either form.
Dracaenae: Removing his heart will kill him.
THIS SKELETON IS CURRENTLY CLOSED.

**The Day of Ruin**
In the heart of the vast ocean, cradled by waves of the deepest blue, lay the island village of Donno. It was a jewel of nature, where the sun's golden fingers caressed the land, and life danced to the rhythm of the sea's eternal song. The villagers, a tapestry of souls bound by harmony, knew nothing of the darkness that lurked beyond their tranquil shores.
Kahlu, whose hands bore the calluses of the forge and whose eyes sparkled with the innocence of youth, stood at the water's edge. The son of the village blacksmith, he was a dreamer at heart, his spirit as unyielding as the steel he helped shape. But dreams turned to nightmares as a roar, foreboding as a storm's first cry, shattered the serenity.
A shadow fell upon Donno, a darkness so profound it seemed to swallow the very light of day. The abyssal dragon, a leviathan of legend, descended with the fury of a thousand tempests. Its scales glistened like obsidian, and its eyes burned with the malice of eons. With each beat of its colossal wings, the beast summoned winds that tore at the fabric of the world.
The village erupted into chaos, a maelstrom of fear and fire. Thatched roofs, once the villagers' humble sanctuaries, became pyres that lit the sky with an ominous glow. Kahlu's heart raced as he witnessed the destruction, the dragon's wrath leaving nothing but ruin in its wake.
Amidst the pandemonium, the blacksmith stood tall, a sentinel against the encroaching doom. His hammer, a symbol of his will, rang out against the roar of the dragon, a challenge to the darkness. The villagers rallied behind him, their courage a fleeting light against the overwhelming shadow.
But valor was no match for the dragon's might. The defenders fell, one by one, their bravery undone by the creature's infernal power. Kahlu fought with the ferocity of a cornered beast, his father's teachings fueling his resolve. Yet, as the flames claimed his home, his defiance turned to despair.
In the heart of the inferno, the blacksmith made his final stand. His sacrifice, a testament to the love he bore for his kin and village, was a beacon that pierced the darkness. Kahlu, tears carving paths through the soot on his cheeks, bore witness to his father's last breath.
The dragon, its hunger for destruction sated, ascended into the night, leaving behind a legacy of ash and sorrow. Kahlu, amidst the remnants of his shattered world, stood resolute. The grief of a son became the forge for a warrior's soul, his resolve crystallizing into a vow of vengeance.
As the embers of Donno cooled, a new flame kindled within Kahlu—a flame that would burn until justice was meted out. For in the ruins of the day, a hero was born, his journey etched in fire and written in the annals of legend.

Back to YGO.
Since Sherry is the next Duel Links unlock, I guess the next 5D's unlock would have to be Rutger, Bommer, or a variation of Misty.
Sherry's remaining animé cards are unlikely to be printed soon, as besides Apprentice Knight they are mostly Spell/Traps. Her remaining manga cards might get mostly printed, as she is only missing Klaret the Elite Magic Elf as a monster.
Hard to say when other major characters will appear. After Ruka's Ancient Fairy Dragon retrain in LIGHT Duelist Pack, we still need Lua's Life Stream Dragon's retrain. After that, a retrain for Infernity Doom Dragon for Kyosuke is the most likely option.

Temper
Surrounded by towering Amaljaa armed with scimitars, Jayesh walked with his head down, hands tied in front of him. The young hyur was a conjurer, barely old enough to own his own chocobo. And now his life was about to end horribly: sacrificed to Ifrit, the god of the Amaljaa. The other soldiers of the Immortal Flame around him were also bound and disarmed, their faces grim. Soon they'd have the flesh stripped from their bones by divine fire … or their minds stripped from their souls by the primal's tempering power. Jayesh wished he'd taken up a fighting class instead of healing. All he'd ever wanted to do was alleviate pain and mend wounds. None of that mattered now. He'd die like the rest … or rot from within as a tempered slave. The Amaljaa priests were already chanting and praying, aether blazing from their stockpiled crystals. A bright core of flame was taking shape in the midst of the cave. Ifrit was on his way from the aethereal sea. Jayesh watched it with doom in his heart. "Oh Hydaelyn," he whispered. "If you remember me at all, please intervene. Save me from this demon." No answering voice came, no headache with an Echo vision. His heart beat so fast he could barely breathe. How many more breaths did he have left to draw? How many heartbeats remained his own? The core of fire expanded and took the shape of the demon primal, the arms and legs too long, the dragon-like head crowned with twisted horns. The eyes and jaws blazed with infernal fire, the outer skin blackened and cracked like cooled lava. "My followers!" Ifrit roared in a blast like a furnace. "I see before me fresh sacrifices! Stand aside, and let me consume them with eternal fire!" The Amaljaa moved away from the little cluster of hyur and elezen who composed the Immortal Flames. Jayesh was the only Scion there. He gazed up at the demon, panicking. He wanted to run, to hide, to shield himself from what was coming-- Ifrit blasted them with fire. The fire did not burn their clothing or flesh. But it burned the minds out of their souls, changing their very aether, attuning them forever to the will of the primal. But not Jayesh. He stood there, staring up at the primal, waiting for his will to vanish, waiting for its hideous voice to speak in his head. The fire had burned the ropes off his wrists, and his hands immediately went to his conjurer's wand and shield. But the fire, somehow, had not touched him. Ifrit noticed. The demon lowered his head to stare at the young hyur. "You!" he bellowed. "I've heard of your kind, untouchable by the gods! If I cannot consume you that way, I shall consume you with fire!" Jayesh reached deep into his magic, the magic that drew power from the elements. He gathered it to himself, more than he'd ever gathered before, filling himself with earth magic until he thought his whole body might turn to stone. Then he unleashed it on Ifrit. The ground beneath the primal erupted upward in a stone spike the size of a house. It shot straight out of the ground, piercing through Ifrit, rising and rising into a stalagmite that ended only when it pierced the cavern roof. Ifrit hung impaled on a spear of stone for a moment. Then he let out a strangled cry and dissipated into sparkling fire aether. Jayesh ran for his life.

evandrin and lucy - the first to die, dead before the story began, doomed by their closest friend in the world. the notion of sunk cost, of how now everything has to be worth it, otherwise they died for nothing.
zerxus and buddy - the replacement, filling in the role of the one who died. defined by their faith; while zerxus is the height of arrogance, believing himself above the gods (in an age where they walk among mortals) and priding himself on getting power without faith in the divine, buddy prides himself on his faith in one god, superior above all others. (and yet, both end up tempted by the infernal...)
laerynn and kipperlilly - the center of the hubris, who's actions doom the others. they may believe themselves to be justified in their actions, they may believe "it all has to be worth it", but none of their substantial skill and power gained will protect them when meddling with forces greater than themselves
patia and oisin - talented wizards defined by, and sometimes eclipsed by, their family's legacy (patia and her grandfather who built the city of avalir, oisin and his dragon ancestors who allied themselves with kalvaxus).
nydas and ruben - bards with a meteoric rise to success who devote all their time to things that are ultimately fleeting (nydas with his money, ruben with his fame and desperation for approval).
loquatius and ivy - charismatic, image-focused and fashionable, seeking approval.
cerrit and mary ann - outsiders when it comes to the general actions of the rest of the party with very different priorities. cerrit, who prioritizes his children above all else in the face of apocalyptic circumstances and full of disdain for the actions of his friends, and mary ann who's motives are inscrutable
the rat grinders and the ring of brass and their separate relationships to hubris and how it dooms them are fascinating to me, like at first glance theyre so different but there's some interesting similarities there
you have the ring of brass that represent the height of wizard hubris, a group of mostly extremely skilled magic users defined by their dominance in their particular sphere (commerce, knowledge, the arcane) and who are all of the higher echelon of society. these guys are the top dogs, the guys who run everything, and they know it, and ultimately its this belief in their superiority that dooms them
then you have the rat grinders, defined by their mediocrity. unremarkable, grasping for any sort of underhanded way to reach the top because they feel victimized by how they are forgotten by the narrative. the ring of brass may have been doomed, but at least they were the main characters. the rat grinders don't even have that.
and yet, both groups are defined by their constant want of more. More of this, more of that, I deserve this, why is this being withheld from me when it is rightfully mine?? doing everything they can to attain that which they deserve, even to the detriment of not only themselves, but the death of those close to them. lucy and evandrin, the simultaneous sacrificial lambs and the canaries in the coal mine, members of the group that died so their ambitions could live.
