cologne I bought purely because my friend said my durge would smell like this. toskovat's inexcusable evil is described as having top notes of gunpowder, heart notes of blood, bandages, iodine, burning flowers, and a base of concrete.

we did a group scent test at dnd and reviews were varied. it has a powerful medical disinfectant scent that eventually dries to a headier blood scent. one of my friends described it as smelling like a war flashback from death stranding. i can't say i found the scent remarkably gory, but it does elicit the same excitement that hunting cornered prey does. regardless of opinion, everyone found that the scent makes you noticeably lightheaded.

Ever since I found out that my baby girl Edgar has an actual high end perfume based on him Miguel matos’ “electric dreams” I thought it could be fun to talk about what some other computers would smell like based on their personalities, stories and overall vibes.

Since Edgar has a perfume already I might as well talk about it

Released in 2021, they describe this scent as being “digital hormones” and trying to understand an emotion and failing at it, which works well for Edgar very well. Electric dreams as a whole lives in the pre internet age of the 80s and how hopeful that dream of the future was in the minds of the people. I love that they included the cheap champagne that miles spills on Edgar as a note here. The other scents are contextualized with the youth of the 80s, strawberry gum and tutti frutti soda, plastic flowers and clean laundry. Even the part where Edgar overheats at the end is in the smoke note. It’s categorized as chypre fruity and I think some other scents fit Edgar very well.

In love with everything by imaginary authors is glitzy and bright almost like those arcade cabinets introduced in the era.its based on the young adults of the time specifically the women, the joys of recklessness. Inexhaustible enthusiasm. To me Edgar is a sugar sweet summer.

Edgar is characterized by the era he was born in, something actually a lot of sentient computers share. As technology morphs and evolves with humanity, our ideas and outlooks also change with it. Electric dreams is coated in the neon lit nostalgia of the 80s, and in a weird twist of fate its legacy is of the 80s as well. The commercialism of it as a whole is what’s remembered most prominently, the song that was made for the movie has outlived its original context. Honorable mentions to age of innocence by Toskovat but I don’t think the rubber or gasoline notes fit him well. Fantômas by Nasomatto is pretty good being a fruity clearly fake fragrance though the gunpowder might be a bit much.

Moving forward, let’s talk about HAL

While technically she was an anomaly by Etat Libre d’Orange makes direct reference to him and his most iconic line, this scent is based on the marriage of Nina Simone and Stanley Kubrick. If hal was human in any shape or form this fragrance would be a generally good fit, as it’s clean professional and one of those your skin but better scents that’s prefect for workplaces.

Eu de space from nasa could work pretty well though it’s not exact. This is a photorealistic space scent with metals and plastics and ozone notes but Hal isn’t directly in space, he’s what the ship would smell like. The burnt sweet quality doesn’t mix well with how pristine and rigid the character is. Spacewalk by Demeter also has a bit of similar problem being a bit too sweet but the soapiness does add points in my opinion. Hal is the sharpness of metal and ozone on your nose to me, not the smell of a hospital or sanitizer but the smell of something newly plastic. Skiing on Europa could be that but unfortunately it’s a little more niche.

Last but not least for now, let’s talk about am, there’s so many different ways to go with am, none being particularly good smelling but there’s so much you could do for him. You can go with the fact that he’s the whole planet, add in soil, rock,gasoline as accords, you can do the religious angle that he has that can pair well with other ideas, use wine or incense and wax like in with the candlestick by clue, you can do blood, sweat, tears and skin to represent the survivors who are now a part of him. Warm electronics, tar, gunpowder there’s so many distinct parts of him.

I think that the two I’m going to single out in terms of perfume are ones that take inspiration from what am’s original function was which is war. And that’s inexcusable evil by toskovat and Molotov cocktail by sylhouette perfumes

Inexcusable evil is infamous in the fragrance and perfume world for its incredibly strong violent smell, it’s a hospital ward ravaged by war. That is its story. Memories that are lost to the tide of battle. “The next war will decide not what is right but what is left.”

Molotov cocktail goes more personal but is still a war scent, the top notes are gasoline,vodka and pepper. the middle notes are blood sweat and rubber and the base is metal, iodine, musk and leather. More animalic and close but both work on the scales that am is a threat in, he’s both a world ender but also a personal tormentor, he spans the globe but also cannot leave his confinement

My dad won’t let my grandma wear her favorite perfume anymore (Elizabeth Arden Red Door) because he hates it and he thinks it stinks. She wants me to pick a new perfume for her for Christmas. I’m thinking Inexcusable Evil by Toskovat or Secretions Magnifiques by Libre d'Orange.

Oh Boy! I'm rubbing my hands together. Here's a few for you.

Dandelion: lots of options, here. Personally, I'd say a classic fougere is a good basis. These are kind of "old fashioned" men's scents with a base of oakmoss combined w hay, lavender, citrus, and occasional spices.

Lots of variation here, so you could probably have one that had topnotes of bergamot with the base of oakmoss and clove for sweetness. I'd personally add smoke or deep wood notes, because... Demon. An actual example of this is DS and Durga's Burning Barbershop, which is pricey but sticks in your brain after you smell it.

Other than that for Mr. Dandelion, I'd say juniper, basalm (piney), bergamot, and other ozonic, sharp scents. Martini-type deal, you know? Maybe it's a daytime/nighttime split.

Fr. Basil: not gonna lie, I googled 1880s men's scents, and most are a lot chiller than what I noted for Dandelion. Lots of water based scents, using floral waters. A big one is lavender, which remains popular today in some men's scents, and orange blossom. Personally, I'd say lavender and wood- simple, classic, masculine but refined. Or, yaknow, church incense does tend to stick to you! (I don't have any specific references for this one, but Alkemia perfumes has a bunch of interesting incense scents)

Lapis: something expensive. Saffron, almond, ambergris. The scent that comes immediately to mind is Baccarat Rouge 540- which is indeed mad expensive. Tons of copycats that smell just as good, though!

Malady: blood. I've never smelled it, but many who smell Inexcusable Evil by Toskovat' say it does straight up just... Smell like that. (Sorry, Malady)

Ohhh, that all sounds good for Dandelion. Smoke is a good choice! I was also talking to folks about bergamot, clove, and sandalwood. Not sure how that would all fit together though,

I like the idea of something simple for Basil. Lavender suits him, feels like a scent he would consider comforting. So, yeah, he would probably smell like incense and lavender.

You sound spot on for Lapis, he would love to smell that kind of deluxe, beautiful, and expensive! Though he would more likely to steal it rather than try to buy it lol.

And Malady... yeah... yeah..... that works for him lol.

FUCK YESSSSSSSSSS omg i kinda wanna assign them all. BUT HMHMMMM theres a part of me that wants to say inexcusable evil by toskovat because of the blood note and destruction vibes

but it's an art piece and not entirely wearable, so i think what could fit her character is the spiciness and flirtiness of penhaligons liquid love!

this is almost definitely going to be a flop post but TO ME cas. more specifically godstiel. smells like inexcusable evil by toskovat. which hear me out. the disgust factor on this perfume is overhyped, it's weird yes but not bad once it dries down. but that ozone/gunpowder/blood/spice combo is just giving bloody leviathan cas. the medicinal note blends with the ozone into this smell that i can only describe as electricity? it's wild and weird and otherworldly and smells Dangerous and i think that fits

39 lashes gives me a hyped-up anticipation sort of vibe. like the realization that something bad is about to happen just started kicking in. at least, that's my interpretation :)

inexcusable evil is meant to straight up smell like chaos and death. it's cold, metallic, smoky, but with some bloody earthy notes underneath. not a good smell at all for most people but toskovat' is very artistic

a sort of leathery animalic scent...very musky and wild. smells like wild feral death in nature. it's inspired by hannibal btw

this one.....will not smell good. it straight up smells like human bodily fluids. but i think it suits the song...sort of like. well. life related yknow. raw and nasty but also natural and it's beautiful in that way. this stinks though no one should ever wear this

my most ill thing recently is wondering what cologne or EDT the dn characters would wear. i know i said Sauvage for light because

1. butches have a sickness about this fragrance because it IS effortless and timeless

2. its annoyingly masculine and i also find it tasteless and atrocious

but also I could see him possibly picking YSL Y because well *I* am a YSL fan (myslf moreso and NO fragheads must flame me for this because it is a compliment getter and perfectly sexless and fresh)(goes with everything) but also I think he'd be especially annoying over brand name fragrances especially later on as he ages.

but also Tom Ford seems his style too same with Chris Collins. And I also associate him strongly (not that he'd WEAR it lmfao he'd recoil at the thought) with Inexcusable Evil by Toskovat. Because well... Y'know

Misa's perfume house is Marissa Zappas to me, Annabel's Birthday Cake (which I own a sample of) is a *perfect* fragrance for her to me, its the latex vanilla lemoncake vibes. Anything with a latex or plastic-y note resonates with me as a *her* fragrance

L wears nothing to me because he doesn't even like to dress himself also I think most scents are sensory nightmares to him but I associate ambrette and straight vanilla or coffee fragrance notes with him so probably like... Akro's Awake or Montale's Café

And well Mikami is a YSL MYSLF enjoyer because like I said it's fresh it's sexless it's perfectly inoffensive and an easy grab. He doesn't care for being flashy either with name brands but I think he'd appreciate effortless grabs because I imagine it to be an integral thing to his routine
