you, me, lonely | mercedes amg (platonic)
summary: life is kicking baby mercs ass, and nothing has been alright since the last time she watched a brat pack movie. her head is too loud, life is moving fast, and she just wishes she knew how to stop and take a breath
pairing: mercedes amg (platonic) team x female! reader (but this one is real heavy on her interactions with lewis!)
warnings: y'all should know these by now tbh, there will be some anxiety and there will be feels and my girl is on the verge of a breakdown, mentions of pregnancy (not on baby mercs part lmao), she is finally ready to admit that maybe she should think about going to therapy.
part of the family is the friends we meet along the way series
Tumblr media
her mind froze as she stared at the text on her screen, phone lying next to the keyboard of her work computer. she'd read the message three times over, and it still wasn't quite clicking.
clement: i thought you'd want to hear it from us before it hit the gossip rags....olli's new girlfriend is pregnant.
that shouldn't have hurt as much as it did. olli wasn't hers. she'd made it clear that she didn't want him after he'd kissed her at that holiday party.
so why was there an achy feeling her gut?
why did her head feel so loud that it might explode?
"hello? earth to yn?" the soft voice called her out of her reverie, and she looked up from her desk to see a worried lewis standing in front of her desk. "are you alright, kiddo?"
"yeah." she said, not really meaning it as she brushed some hair out of her face.
crazy how he was her first (and only) kiss two years ago, and now he was having a baby with someone else. she'd already blocked his number, and there was no point in sending him well wishes considering just how burned that bridge was.
"you don't look fine." lewis pushed gently. "a problem shared is a problem halved."
she sighed, locking her computer and tucking away her phone. "join me for a walk? i need to take my mandatory fifteen."
she grabbed her sherpa jacket from the back of her desk chair, heading towards brackley's patio doors. the cool fall air slapped her in the face as she pushed them open, moving to stand at the corner of the deck, attempting to soak up the last of what little sun england gets.
"remember that guy i kissed at marcus armstrong's holiday party a few years back?"
lewis nodded. "i do recall."
"he's going to be a father in march." she sighed, watching her breath turn to mist in the air. "somebody wanted him, but nobody has wanted me since him."
she knew in her heart of hearts that she hadn't really tried. she hadn't even really wanted olli when she thought about it. she couldn't date a driver, especially knowing that she would almost always come second to his career.
"and now with you leaving and graduation drawing closer, i just feel like my fucking head is about to explode." she laughed grimly, a realization coming over her. "i'm mentally ill, lewis. i need help. and it has taken me five fucking years to get to the point where i've felt like i could ask for it."
lewis could hear her voice cracking, and he didn't have to turn and look at her to know that she was close to tears. he silently reached out to pull her into a hug, not wanting to push too far, but also wanting to offer the reassurane and comfort that he knew she needed.
"the first step is admitting you need help. we have some of the best therapists in our industry here, yn. and if none of them work, we'll find out which ones are covered by your healthcare plan."
she resisted the urge to sink deeper into his arms with a hearty sob, instead choosing to focus on the grounding smell of his cologne, the feel of his strong, tattooed arms around her.
"and just because i'm at ferrari doesn't mean im gone for good." lewis reminded, pulling away to make sure she looked him in the eyes. "you know that i'm one phone call away, whenever you need me, right?'
she nodded weakly, thinking about the long distance calling fees and the timezones, and all the other reasons why lewis' grand plan might not work.
"i wish you weren't leaving me." she mumbled, hoping that even if lewis heard her say that, that he wouldn;t feel guilty. she knew deep down that he wasn't leaving her, but leaving a team that he felt could no longer build him the car he needed.
"you can call me any time, hey. and mostly everyone else will still be here. you'll still see me on race weekends. besides, once you graduate, you'll be too focused and too busy to have time for us anyways."
that was true. she couldn;t work here forever. sooner or later, it would all end and she'd find herself working in a county courthouse or a small family firm.
maybe somewhere coastal, like devon or halifax. her next big adventure, far away from home.
if she could make it through therapy first. lewis made her promise to talk to toto, who would be able to arrange a meeting with one of the on-staff psychologists for her. she'd met a fewof them in and around the break room, and they seemed personable.
like the kind of people that wouldn't judge the firestorm going on inside her brain at all hours.
they both knew it wasn't going to be a permanent fix, and that there were bigger, different things coming to the mercedes amg headquarters in the next season, including a seventeen year old boy who's gross income was about four times what baby merc could veer hope to earn.
but she was really starting to find her footing here. all she could hope for now was that she managed to keep it until graduation.
she felt somewhat lighter after her talk. being social had never been her forte, and she only somewhat conversed with the ladies in the legal office. talking was hard, she found.
but as lewis walked her back to her desk, and she took a look at her stack of files again, she felt better, albeit slightly.
"hey, yn." elodie, the tall and funny goth girl who worked at the desk next to her stuck her head over the glass dividers. "a few of us were going to grab a drink later and maybe go catch a late movie. did you want to come with us? don't at all feel like you have to say yes if you don't want to. i think doriane is coming, as well as-"
"elodie." she said, smiling to herself. "i would love to tag along. thank you for inviting me."
elodie grinned. "no problem, girlie. we're all going to meet in the front lobby. susie recommended this incredible cider place, and we try to go at least once a year once fall hits."
with her heart feeling a little lighter, and her spirit a little warmer, she turned back to her computer, a small, dainty smile on her face.
maybe making new friends outside of her post secondary education wasn't going to be as hard as she thought.
after all, didn't it only take one conversation to gain the great lewis hamilton as her most trusted ally?
she was so fortunate to work somewhere where everybody cared so much about each other, and that was the thought that she pledged to hang onto during her loneliest of hours from now on.

OMG, who is a fan of Modern Farmhouse/Shabby Chic stye? I was not prepared for the interior of this 1996 home in Gresham, OR. 6bds, 4ba, 3,057 sq ft, $600k.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This living room by the picture window has a loft and an electric fireplace. It's a weird setup.
Tumblr media
Then, they have this odd kitchen layout.
Tumblr media
The stove doubles as the kitchen island, so you have to remove the board to use the burners. Look at how high the built-in drawers go.
Tumblr media
I don't like that you can see the garbage disposal and plumbing under the sink.
Tumblr media
This would be the dining room.
Tumblr media
And, over here you have the frilly everyday dining space.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behind this wall there's another sitting area.
Tumblr media
Small 1st fl. bedroom.
Tumblr media
Powder room features white faux brick walls.
Tumblr media
Looking at the stairs, it appears that they added the loft themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The primary bedroom is quite large and features the whitewashed brick walls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hate the ensuite. The shower looks like an elevator. Ugly utilitarian gray tiles.
Tumblr media
This bedroom is nice.
Tumblr media
The baths all have these thick rustic pine cabinets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the other bedrooms, too. This one has an industrial farm vibe.
Tumblr media
Fancy laundry room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm surprised that there's no pool. It looks like there was, and they covered it up. There's no garden, just a huge patio. This needs work. 8,712 sq ft lot

How Long Does a Patio Cover Last?
A patio cover can be a game-changer for your outdoor space—offering shade, protection, and a whole new area to relax. But how long will it actually last before you need to replace or repair it? Well, that depends on a few key factors, including the materials, weather conditions, and maintenance. If you’re in South Bend or nearby, your local climate also plays a big role.
Let’s break it down so you know what to expect and how to keep your patio cover in top shape for years to come.
The Lifespan of Different Patio Cover Materials
Not all patio covers are created equal. Some materials last longer than others, and the right choice depends on your budget, maintenance preferences, and style. Here’s what you need to know:
Aluminum Patio Covers – 20 to 50 Years
Aluminum patio covers are one of the longest-lasting options. They’re resistant to rust, termites, and moisture, which makes them a great fit for South Bend’s mix of humid summers and snowy winters. With proper care, an aluminum cover can last decades—sometimes even up to 50 years if it’s high-quality and well-maintained.
Pros: Low maintenance, weather-resistant, doesn’t rot or rust easily.
Cons: Can dent or scratch over time, not as “warm” looking as wood.
Wooden Patio Covers – 10 to 30 Years
Wood brings that classic, natural look that blends beautifully with gardens and traditional home styles. But it does require regular maintenance—sealing, staining, and occasional repairs—to avoid rot, termites, and warping.
Pros: Timeless aesthetic, customizable, can be repainted or restained.
Cons: Prone to water damage and pests, requires frequent upkeep.
A well-maintained cedar or redwood patio cover can last 20 to 30 years, while softer woods like pine might only last about 10 to 15 years before needing serious repairs.
Vinyl Patio Covers – 20 to 40 Years
Vinyl covers are another low-maintenance option. They won’t rot or rust, and they’re resistant to pests. However, they can become brittle in extreme temperatures and may fade or yellow over time.
Pros: Low maintenance, durable, doesn’t require painting.
Cons: Can discolor over time, limited color choices.
With proper care, a vinyl patio cover can last around 30 years on average.
Steel Patio Covers – 25 to 50 Years
If you’re looking for something extra durable, steel is a powerhouse. It can handle tough weather conditions, but it’s heavier than aluminum and can rust if not properly coated.
Pros: Super strong, long lifespan, modern industrial look.
Cons: Can rust, heavier and more expensive to install.
Galvanized steel with proper coatings can last up to 50 years, but regular maintenance is key.
Factors That Affect Your Patio Cover’s Lifespan
Even the toughest patio cover won’t last forever if it’s not properly cared for. Here’s what can shorten—or extend—its lifespan:
South Bend’s Weather Conditions
Living in Indiana means dealing with a full range of seasons—humid summers, snowy winters, and everything in between. Constant freeze-thaw cycles can be tough on materials like wood and vinyl. Strong winds and hail can also damage weaker covers over time.
Choose weather-resistant materials like aluminum or steel if you don’t want to worry about weather damage.
Maintenance (Or Lack of It)
A little maintenance goes a long way. Here’s what you should do to make sure your patio cover stays in great shape:
Wood: Seal and stain every 2-3 years, check for termites, and repair cracks.
Aluminum & Vinyl: Wash with mild soap and water to prevent buildup.
Steel: Inspect for rust, apply protective coatings if needed.
Skipping maintenance? Expect a shorter lifespan—sometimes by half.
Installation Quality
Even the best materials won’t last if installed poorly. If your patio cover isn’t secured properly or has gaps where water can pool, problems will show up way sooner than they should.
Hire professionals (like Screenmobile of South Bend) to make sure your cover is installed right the first time.
Signs Your Patio Cover Needs Replacing
Even if you’ve taken great care of your patio cover, time eventually catches up. Watch for these signs that it might be time for a replacement:
Wood is warping, splitting, or rotting
Metal has rust spots or structural weakening
Vinyl is cracked, faded, or brittle
Loose connections, sagging beams, or unstable posts
If you notice any of these, it’s better to replace it sooner rather than later—especially if safety is a concern.
How to Make Your Patio Cover Last Longer
Want to get the most out of your patio cover? Here’s how to extend its life:
Clean it regularly – Dirt, mold, and debris can wear down materials faster.
Re-seal wood every few years – Protect it from water damage and UV rays.
Check for leaks or structural issues – Catch problems early before they worsen.
Keep an eye on fasteners and joints – Loose screws and bolts can weaken the structure.
Trim nearby trees – Overhanging branches can cause damage during storms.
A little effort now can save you from a costly replacement down the road.
When It’s Time for an Upgrade
If your patio cover has seen better days, replacing it can transform your outdoor space. Whether you want a low-maintenance aluminum cover, a cozy wooden pergola, or a durable steel option, Screenmobile of South Bend has you covered.
Need help choosing the right patio cover? Contact Screenmobile today and get expert advice on materials, styles, and installation. Because when it comes to outdoor spaces, you deserve something that lasts.

Felps’ House
masterlist
Tumblr media
Felps is Cellbit's old roommate from before the duo moved to Quesadilla town and he serves as the town's grocer and owner of the general store. His wares are eccentric and the owner even more so, but the residents trust him to provide quality goods like fruits, veggies, spare rope and tackle, screws, bolts, tools, clothing, and much, much more. The store is built into the lower part of his house in the Favela, although he can't always be found there- he goes "missing" every few weeks to travel to the mainland to stock up on more goods. Now if only he would notify people before he left...
1) Felps and Cellbit lived together in the big city, splitting rent handily with Felps working as a shopkeep and Cellbit as a muckraker reporter, taking inspiration from "The Jungle" and investigating the local meat industry to turn out articles on his findings. One day Cellbit saw something he shouldn't have and came home gravely injured, babbling about a mysterious group coming back to finish the job. At this, Felps took umbrage and grabbed his friend, their combined savings, and all the determination he could muster to flee to Quesadilla to start a new life. Things went poorly almost immediately and it's only after several new friends, a kid, a freak storm, and a lot of repression, that Felps can now say that he loves his home in the Favela and his place as the tentative "leader" of the Favela Five. Their game nights are epic, truly, and the beer is even better, especially when they all gather on Felps' rooftop patio to sing, drink, and relax under the stars. It's almost enough to make a man forget his trauma and at this point, that's the only thing that could make Felps happier than he already is.
2) The shop built into Felps' house is painted the traditional white of public buildings in Quesadilla, although he hates the color. As if in protest, the inside is a riot of goods and materials, all piled up in great leaning towers and covered rainbow-hued stickers labeling the price of each item. Richarlyson is in love with Felps' label maker and he's all too happy to hand over the tool to let his borrowed kid have fun for an afternoon. Anything that is marked incorrectly, he just hands to Bobby and Ramon with a sharpie and tells them to scribble until to their heart's content. Felps being generally a quiet soul, he's popular with the eggs that prefer a gentle touch, as well as those who like getting away with what they shouldn't. As such, he's surprisingly popular with some of the Quesadilla kids, enough so that when he disappears to the mainland of his large motorboat to bring back more goods to sell, they all cry kidnapping and search the island to find him. The first time this happened, most of the adults were greatly spooked- Cellbit especially- but by now it's old hat and the only ones who remain nervous are the rest of the Favela crew.
3) The main body of Felps' house consists of his kitchen on the upper floor, the living room on the lowest, and an eclectic mix of bathrooms, storage, closets, and stairways to fill in the rest. His bedroom, rather than fitting into the main tower, is instead shoved into the narrow space beneath his rooftop patio, with just enough ceiling clearance to avoid bumping his head in the mornings and that's it. The furnishings are odd as well, mostly consisting of a mix of second hand stuff he bought on the mainland, stuff from his old apartment, and whatever spares Fit had lying around after the Favela was wrecked the first time around. From art deco to fake Greco-Roman to 80s bowling alley lounge, every room in his house is.... A vibe. Sort of. Perhaps a vibe akin to mixing Gatorade, vodka, and liquid THC together. As one might imagine, the only one who ever goes inside Felps' house for any length of time is Felps.
4) Felps' life is much like his house- utter insanity and he loves every bit of it. He's used to Cellbit's antics- odd calls over HAM radio, sudden bouts of paranoia and hyperactivity followed by a post-coffee crash, and a lot of dark humor jokes about cults and cannibalism. However, Forever's cryptid hunting, Mike and Pac's inventions and subsequent explosions, and Richarlyson as a person who exists? It's all new and exciting! Breakfast on Felps' rooftop patio is a staple in the Favela and he makes excellent pancakes for anyone and everyone who stops by. He uses the time to catch up on everything that he might have missed the previous day and fills his friends in on the news he's heard on the mainland. Given Quesadilla's distance from the rest of the world's drama, whatever info Felps can scrape together is valuable and the Favela Five all love to gossip, trading the info to other townspeople for things like parking places and baked goods. Indeed, being the keeper of the gossip makes Felps' life all the more lively and he wouldn't have it any other way.
5) Much like Fit and Philza, Felps has PTSD as well as his own bouts of paranoia and anxiety. Watching Cellbit bleed all over his lap, and then later having to watch his close friend relearn to walk under Rubius' careful administrations was awful and he never, ever wants to see his friend in pain again. Seeing such things in his nightmares is more than enough, thanks, but the only thing worse to Felps is burdening Cellbit with his worries further. On nights when he can't convince himself that the men who injured Cellbit are long gone and won't ever find them, he goes to the beach by his friend's house to sleep in the sand. Something about the waves washes his worry away- the sea is so big and terrifying and whatever lurks in it even more so, his mundane, human fears pale in comparison. It might not be therapy, or entirely healthy, but it works and to Felps' mind, that's enough.

TOOLS FOR PERSONS WORKING ONLINE
Many persons with online jobs often have this desire to work outside. Working in nature can be reviving and a pleasant change from your work space. Sometimes the weather is nice and sunny and our backyard patio becomes that perfect place to work. However, working outside does have its fair share of challenges and this article will provide you with tips to make the process easier.
Wi-Fi Extender and Hotspot
A poor Internet connection will end your outdoor work session quickly. If you’re at home, a Wi-Fi extender may help you out if your router and modem are further away in the house. The extender will create a stronger signal and can even increase your speeds.
Should you choose to work outdoors at a coffee shop or public area, it’s smart to have a hotspot available. Actually, you may never know when the Internet might go down at your location, or you could even be surprised and find there’s no Wi-Fi connection available for use. Having access to a hotspot will ensure you’re able to be connected no matter what situation may arise.
Having a smartphone or a tablet, either of these can be tethered to your computer to provide an Internet connection. Please be aware, as these options will typically slice into your phone’s data plan plus reducing the battery life of your phone. It is important to remember that you also find mobile hotspots that are separate devices and often prepaid.
Anti-Glare Screen and Cooling Devices
Workers often find that the first problem they might have when working outside is a nasty glare on the computer screen. It often makes it difficult to see what you’re doing and cause you to squint. A shaded area is not enough to rectify this problem. Turning the screen brightness up as far as it will go will reduce the problem. It is important that you work from a cool shaded area. If shade isn’t plentiful where you’ll be working, consider wearing lighter clothing, bringing a portable mini fan, or using a cooling towel.
Extra Power Supply
A computer battery going dead is trouble. Should you head outside with a full battery, take along a power cord just in case. A portable charger is also an option, in case there are no outlets close by that can be used. Portable chargers must be charged beforehand and they can then be used to charge your computer when needed. Computer batteries don’t last all day, but depending on its condition, it may last up to two hours.
External Devices
Online jobs are challenging and persons working remotely often face issues during the scope of work. Some items are a must if you plan to work productively outdoors. Purchase a wireless keyboard and mouse, and consider a laptop stand to raise it up to eye level. These items can work wonder if you have to work outside. Please note that having a pair of headphones or earbuds will assist if you have to have to take a call or listen to music while engaging in your online work activities.
Working from a remote office can have its own set of challenges but working through the areas mentioned above will make the process easier. Carefully review these tips to take your work outside and stay industrious and driven no matter the challenges that may come up.

PC Corrugated Sheet Extrusion Line
Tumblr media
PC corrugated sheet has the merits of good weather resisting property, impact resistance, high light transmission. It is widely used in the roof for warehouses and easy constructions, such as stamming pools, skiing fields, station rest pavilions and so on.
