I saw a Indo-raptor x Blue jurassic park tiktok on fyp and someone tell me why someone in the comments wrote an entire ass paragraph about how the indo-raptor is an 'abomination' and 'a testament to human hybris' and 'does not deserve nice things'

Meet Ritzy and Indonesia

These two are brother and sister from the lab, they have been tortured and the scientist was messing thier DNA and they can size shirt but they can't control it that much, ritzy stole an axe from the scientist during the escape, Indonesia usually goes by indo because she had a indoraptor DNA. They can limited to the size of 6 t-rexes tall in height, they eat meat but only when it comes to humans but they didn't eat them more often. They actually use to be just fossils and then was recreated in a different way.

having thoughts about a made up dinosaur from a movie i have never seen

Out of the JW dinosaurs, the Indoraptor stands out to me as pretty aesthetically pleasing, but I think it’s inherent JW monsterisms hold it back from being really good. Sketching out ideas right now, to go for something thats less “oooh big spiky toothy danger lizard” and more controlled and sleek.

He’s trained to be calm and observant when at ease, but when he’s on, he’s on. His suffering from animal abuse is a lot more explicit, he’s an animal trained and hardwired for savage violence, without much in the way of taking care of himself. He would have a more developed relationship with Blue, who are both desiring social groups, before things go to shit. Blue is also feathered here, in my take InGen would be able to create almost fully feathered raptors at this point. Indo has sparse feathering mostly replaced by dangerous quills. He has a body a lot more obviously built for prowling and pouncing like a panther, I always found the regular extremely high of the ground ass of the og design to be really awkward.

Keep in mind I don’t really consider myself a JP fan, I’m looking at this purely from the perspective of the kind of designs and story I’d like to see. Once again, I haven’t even seen Fallen Kingdom. If you have opinions on this lmk

I am now thinking more about the Jurassic Park/World - Animorphs crossover AU (Dinomorphs?). It has stuck in my head like a bad song and I can't get it out.

InGen and any of the other companies involved with making the dinosaurs would be taken over by the Yeerks almost as soon as the Yeerks arrive. These companies have biological engineering capabilities approaching the level of the Arn, but on a much better planet. The Yeerks would be salivating over that.

Following on from this: Hybrid dinosaurs like the Indo-series Rex and Raptor or the Stegoceratops from the video games are probably Yeerk projects. The Yeerks are looking for ways to create more shock troops to unleash on the Andalites.

Similarly, we could expect to see even more interesting hybrids involving alien DNA. Velocihorks and Pterotaxxons and Geddosaurs. I imagine most of these hybrid projects would be failures that illustrate the depravity and utter inhumanity of the Yeerks, like the failed Aquatic Hork-Bajir project.

Dinosaur-controllers, mostly with medium-sized dinosaurs that can function as guards or shock-troops but aren't too big to fit inside of Yeerk ships. As much as Visser Three would love to have Tyrannosaur-Controllers on the payroll, they're just too big and their arms too tiny to be useful to the Empire on a day to day basis. (I imagine this is the same reason the Yeerks can't deploy the giant monsters on the Hork-Bajir homeworld to other planets - their spaceships just can't hold the critters, there's not enough room.)

Visser Three, of course, would have all the big dinosaur morphs. He can bypass the "too big to fit" limitation thanks to Alloran's morphing ability.

Because the Yeerks have to use smaller dinosaurs in their ships and Yeerk Pools, the Animorphs could still use their regular battle morphs (or in Ax's case, his normal Andalite body) for a lot of the fighting, if they aren't able to acquire dinosaurs themselves. And if Visser Three turns into something too big for them to handle, they can do what they usually do and run.

If the dinosaurs have escaped into the wild before the Animorphs get into the war, then smaller dinosaur morphs could be acquired at Cassie's barn.

Following on from the last point - if Cassie has any mid-size theropods at the Barn, or if there are any at The Gardens, then Tobias definitely gets stuck as one of those instead of a hawk.

How would the chimeric DNA of the dinosaurs affect morphing allergies? What if Rachel burps up a Baryonyx or an Ankylosaurus because it has the part of the crocodile DNA that she's allergic to in it? Is this how we find out Jake is allergic to Tree Frog DNA?

Toby and the Free Hork-Bajir adopt a dinosaur early on. I don't know what kind yet.

I think I've mostly ruled out Rock Drakes as a kin type. So I'm a Velociraptor Paleotherian (Possibly Indo kin cuz whenever I do have Raptor shifts, I prefer to walk and run on all fours instead of just on my legs.), and Night Fury kin.

Also y'all gonna have to let me know what I'd classify as with Indoraptor. Cuz like it's a dinosaur, made up of other dinosaurs, but it's a fictional hybrid so would it be Therian or Otherkin???

the moment i got home i started drawing. Cryptid sighting out here saving me from art block. Her enterance, the threat, the looks, the sass. Yes. 

I gave them a more of a shrink wrap tratment to make the look more Monsters and unkany. Let the bones show. 

Also. whiel drawing them they gave me strong Indo-Raptor vibes, They both are professional human taste tester. I dont know if their bassed on the indo but either way i realy happy with the design. 

They are best friends your honor and they will commit war crimes. 

also the scene where Sun is staring down the toung-eater like they’re a miss behaving sibling about to have a fight *muha* Gold.

deep dive - the beach

"the beach" is the 26th episode of season one, and introduces a lovely new location for the heelers to explore. it's never specified where along the gold coast this beach is, but probably somewhere like warana beach, which is about an hour's drive from brisbane and the perfect distance for a day trip. this one is a bit long, so i'll put the rest of the post underneath a read more.

a couple years ago a coastal pathway project began, in order to promote walking and biking through the scrub and wetlands along the beach. the project also addresses the prevalence of invasive species and aims to restore native vegetation. but enough about that, let's get into the bush!

an establishing shot gives a nice overview of the beach, which sits between a residential wooded area and the edge of the coral sea. what looks like a tuckeroo is visible in the foreground, a native australian tree that doesn't mind coastal conditions.

after the heelers spend some time enjoying the sand, we get a shot of an osprey, a common sight anywhere by water in australia and across the americas. these raptors are incredible anglers, with a recorded success rate of 70 percent! there are four subspecies of osprey, and the eastern osprey, the only one found in australia, is the smallest.

on the beach, bluey finds the shell of a tiger cowrie, a beautiful variety of marine snail that is prevalent across the indo-pacific region. the striking appearance of their shells has made them popular among shell collectors, although their numbers have suffered as a result.

bluey also encounters a flock of silver gulls. like other sea gulls, these birds are very successful scavengers, and often have no issues going up to humans for handouts. you can find these guys pretty much anywhere near water in australia and new zealand.

here's an interesting one! this is a pipi, a type of saltwater clam. they've been a source of protein by the native ngarriindjeri people for thousands of years, but are mostly used as bait for commercial fishing. they use their strong "foot" muscle to burrow into the sand. as filter feeders, they take in large amounts of water to suck up plankton. afterwards, the water needs to expelled, like the one bluey found is doing.

bluey also runs away from a consortium of light-blue solider crabs. unlike how they're animated in the show, this species is one of the few crabs that has evolved to walk forwards, not sideways. the males form large "armies" during low tide, similar to the group in the episode.

next, bluey encounters a moon jelly, a type of jellyfish identifiable by its large translucent bell and short tentacles. these jellies do have a sting (bluey does the right thing by approaching it with caution, as you should with any wild animal!), but it only causes very mild irritation in humans. moon jellies are the favorite food of many turtle species. since they look similar, moon jelly-loving turtles will often swallow plastic bags.

last but not least, a bird that's even bigger than bluey! this is an australian pelican, which hold the record for the longest bill of any bird. they use their beaks to scoop up fish and other animals like a fishing net. you can find them in every state of australia.

ok I spent waaaay too long on this but YA KNOW. I couldn't help myself, as soon as you started describing the new cryptid I was like 'yeah, imma just imagine the indoraptor in these scenes.'

for real tho, if the three jurassic worlds had one good part, it was for sure this guy, he comes with trauma built in and knows EXACTLY what he's doing and is enjoying every moment of it.

Three B-2 Spirit bombers returned for the first Red Flag exercise of 2024 at Nellis Air Base, Nevada, this week, alongside the Eurofighters Typhoon of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and the F-35A of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

More than 30 units and 2,000 military personnel participate in air combat training, considered by the participating allies as one of the "most advanced" and "most difficult" training opportunities in the world.

The exercise began on January 15 and will incorporate realistic and sophisticated combat scenarios until January 26.

The B-2 Spirits will focus on increasing interoperability, training against scenarios involving a contested, degraded and operationally limited environment, said 2ª Ten Lindsey A. Weichel from the 509ª Bomber Wing.

The stealth bombers, usually a regular presence on the Red Flag in recent years, did not fly in the first edition of last year's Red Flag due to a safety impasse - although the exercise virtually simulated the aircraft and crew members participated. The B-2 finally returned to the Red Flag-Alaska 23-3, flying deep into the Arctic Circle in August 2023.

This Red Flag 24-1 exercise in Nellis will also involve:

RAF FGR-4 Typhoons

RAAF F-35As

EA-18G U.S. Navy Growlers

"Training prioritizes first-time combat missions, mission commander updates, integration and signaling of unique experiences that most contribute to readiness and partnership," Colonel Eric Winterbottom, commander of the 414º Combat Training Squadron, said in a statement.

He added that this training is vital for aviators to operate independently to strengthen the resilience and survivability of the mission.

Almost 100 aircraft depart from the base twice a day, some of them remaining in the air for up to five hours. The training will see night launches to also simulate night combat operations.

This iteration also marks the first participation of Australian F-35As since RAAF joined the exercise since 1980.

"The Red Flag Nellis exercise will test all facets of our F-35A capability, allow us to integrate with our American and British allies and practice how we project force in combat operations." Wing Commander Adrian Kiely, Commander of Squadron Nº 3 of the RAAF, said in a statement.

Founded in 1975, the Red Flag was initially designed to intensively train U.S. Air Force pilots on air combat missions, drawing lessons from the Vietnam War. With the Pentagon focusing on China, the exercise changed to expand over the Pacific.

This year's edition is aligned with the 2022 National Defense Strategy and focuses on deterring aggression, addressing the challenges in the Indo-Pacific and Europe, and building a joint force.

There are usually three Red Flag exercises per year: a U.S.-only session, one open to Five Eyes nations (UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand) and another that includes a broader list of global allies.

Alright here we go a deep dive into the abyss-

jwe dino park/prehistoric kingdom au-

So this one is two universes under the same au one in the jurassic world evolution and prehistoric kingdom games respectively.

The JWE one however doesn't follow jw lore at all. Just a world hwere dinos got cloned and now the government just watches over them to make sure nothing bad happens to them. So Sokka works at a facility similar to a big cat rescue place where he is the head keeper for the Pyroraptors that he raised from hatchlings.

Zuko arrives later to the facility with a pair of indos who he raised. The indos were confiscated from a underground breeder when they where newly hatched and raised by zuko at another facility. They only came to the one Sokka worked at cause Zuko fought hard to make sure they could receive the best care

This au would then become a simple workplace meet cute as Sokka and Zuko got to know each other better.

The prehistoric kingdom au side has a lot less development and really just like those behind the scene zoo shows like Secrets of the Zoo or The Secret life of the Zoo. Sokka works in the Ambassador program workign with things like Archaeopteryx, Microraptor, and Velociraptor. All dinos are paleo accurate here like the ones in prehistoric kingdom. Zuko comes in and they start to work together also becoming a workplace meet cute.

Raptor au

So the raptor au is where everyone is a just velo from the jp world. They live in packs "co-existing" as neighbors

Zuko stumbles into the territory of Sokka's pack as a sub-adult and is allowed to join there pack and Sokka is told to teach him their ways. Though the Fire pack has caused trouble (unconfirmed rumors of them driving out/killing the Air Nomad Pack) for the other packs Hakoda realizes that he is not to blame. The story would continue as they grow up together true friends to lovers style. Eventually Iroh retakes control of the Fire Pack and Zuko is given the opportunity to go back but he chooses to stay with Sokka and his new family in the Southern water pack.

Tyrannosaurid au

This one is by far the most cracked one. It is set in a world where all the canon jp/jw dinos have been cloned and now roam free over the world. A disease wiped out humanity and now dinos rule the earth. Enter Sokka the trex setting up his own territory when he meet Zuko who is a Indominus rex.

They decide to share the terry slowly warming up to one another becoming a pair. That's about it for the plot. I struggled with how much sentience to give them in this au and settled for basically typical animal story level, enough to make it easy for human readers while also not being so far animalistic where it becomes hard to write

Left is more leaning towards their personality inspo while the right is more animal nature and hunting habits. Some more chosen as a "oh yeah I could see the parallels". The most direct inspo that stuck out to me during Apex's creation process wouldve been Indo-rex and raptor and Viper Tobi :' 0
