Hunter Schafer had her passport gender marker changed back to M after years of having at as F, and she said the only document not changed was her birth certificate. Implies the agency responsible for passports is cross referencing with other documents and is not just denying new gender marker changes but will start forcibly reverting them to their original marker. God knows what else they have access to but I'm sure it's not pretty.
I need people to understand how serious it can get. And if you only start noticing now and ringing alarm bells, better late than never; but it's also a shame if it takes a white celebrity to sound off in order for people to take institutional transphobia and transmisogyny seriously. Even if this is a notable escalation, it displays a serious devaluing of the violence faced by any invisible transfem, seeing as we are typically the canary in the coal mine. Marginalized transfems of all stripes, nonwhite, disabled, poor, have been begging for people to pay attention and take stuff seriously and it's a disgrace that it's just been met with, at best, performative gestures. We need to keep us safe, and we need to do better to do that.

Kendrick performed a highly political statement on an international stage in front of at least 110+ million people - your only takeaway from that is that "he's petty", and nothing else. not the fact that he covered the Black American experience and how Black people in America are treated by their white counterparts and have to "play the game" to appease white people (YOU people!!). if Hozier and Florence did a similar, highly charged, political performance you people would fucking lap it up like thirsty dogs - but since it's a Black man on that stage delivering that performance, suddenly it's not about that.

saw a white woman refer to sam nordquist as "kid" - of course, little black boys are "young men" but grown black men are "kids." acknowledge him fully for what he was: a BLACK TRANSGENDER man. his blackness and transgender status in combination were what made him so vulnerable to this brutal abuse and murder. do not infantilize him. and furthermore do not erase his blackness to spotlight only his transness. this was a hate crime which shows yet again the compounding effects of transphobia and antiblack racism. it is not a coincidence that all five accused murderers are white, and can be linked to white nationalism on public social media profiles (such as emily motyka's confederate flag profile picture).
according to data aggregated from 2013 to the end of 2024, approximately 85% of transgender homicide victims in the usa are people of color - with a majority of victims being black transgender women.
also, if you're going to share pictures of sam, show what he actually looked like as himself - not the pretansition photo picked by basically every fucking news outlet. pre-transition and non-op/non-medically transitioning transgender people are obviously still trans, but that was not his current situation at all, and it's so profoundly disrespectful to latch onto an outdated photo to represent him. here's what he looked like in actual recent pics he chose to share on his own social media:

Help a black disabled enby in need of shelter and support?
To put shortly, my living situation at my friend's for 3 months has fallen through.
Upon returning to my adoptive father's home, I'm now full on confronting his memory issues. Things have gotten severe, and there's no way I can stay for much longer. We need cleaning supplies of all kinds, food for the end of the month and hygiene products.
He's not taking care of himself. I cannot take care of him. My siblings are going to come to help, but the "we're all struggling" is just as real, if not worse.
I'm scared, I'm angry, I'm grieving someone right in front of me.
If you want to support me during this difficult transition, I'll have no goal for a while, but I'll list all of my info now. This is a long haul kind of observation.
Any amount will help me save for a new place but I know I'll need, well alot if it comes to that.
For now, cleaning supplies and rides to places I can crash around to shower and stuff are the only things on my mind.
