Thank you for encouraging my brain worms <3 I have lots of thoughts for the potential of Huskerdust in season two- I know lots of people are really eager for them to get together and kiss and all the cute couple things (don’t get me wrong me too) but I do want them to really take the proper time to grow close and trust each other. I think seeing a Loser, Baby reprise would be really fun at some pivotal point in their relationship whether it’s when they actually get together or just both admit their feelings for one another.

I’m not sure if we’ll get this is season two necessarily but season one really sets them up for at the very least making progress in that direction. Whether he realizes it or not Angel very clearly has feelings for Husk as seen in the bar scene in episode eight, and I think you could argue that Husk was lowkey flirting with him there too. Again, not sure if that was intentional but he straight up dropped an octave lower and literally looked Angel up and down. With an instrumental of Loser, Baby in the back too! Point being whether realized or not there’s feelings to a degree there. We already know they’re going to get together, it’s just a matter of when and how.

Bottom line regardless of what happens I just want these two to be happy with each other even if the world they live in is shitty otherwise. They both have their own baggage to work through but I really do think they’re a great match for each other and have so much chemistry. I can really see them forming a really strong bond with each other, and they’re already starting to. I want communication! Trust! I’m okay with them being a slow burn and taking several seasons to develop their relationship if it means this. I’m sure it won’t be perfect or linear, but no relationship is and I want them to be realistic. There’s a lot of potential challenges (Val, Alastor, ect.) that I’m sure we’ll see in upcoming seasons but I trust the writers will take care of those two through it all.

this tough guy, king of new coventry who is always proving himself and others to be worthy of leadership, who took in these poor kids into his group and genuinely cares about them has only one weakness (aside from jimmy lulz) which happens to be this lonely girl, bad talked and rejected by all the other girls (its hard to make friends at bullworth) has poor social skills so she bets it all on her looks and it works. they love each other, but they also dont, but they want more - he wants more of her, he wants to be seen and desired by her and she wants to be seen, desired, loved, she wants attention from him mostly but also from everyone around her to get the most possible of him. she needs to be the helen of troy......... and he needs to be the king for his queen....... they both suck 🖕

i always think of their relationship as something mutually beneficial, in the way that aventurine gets ratio to be a bit sillier and a bit less rigidly logical while ratio gets aventurine to be more honest with himself and a bit more self-preserving.

aventurine went through hell in his childhood but he's definitely a very capable man. ratio is privileged, and he knows he is, so he tries to make that privilege less of a privilege and more of a standard that everyone can benefit from.

these experiences that they went through make them both quite a bit isolated from almost everybody else, so when they met each other, i think they recognised that isolation in the other and gained a mutual understanding, even if they went through drastically different things. (though probably not from the get-go. i hc them to dislike each other for a bit before learning to trust and appreciate the companionship that grew from that trust)

Not to be a hater but i kinda hate the characterization of Aventio/Ratiorine as "aventurine is broken and ratio wants to fix him" cuz it just feels demeaning to aventurine. Hes not "broken" and he doesnt "need fixing" and definitely doesnt need to be "saved" by Some Priviliged Guy ugh. Like i totally understand if its projection and u wanna daydream abt sexy man taking care of u i get it but it just feels so OOC and wrong and i dont like the idea that someone is broken and needs fixing if theyre traumatized (no hate tho do what u want people)

Wednesday Friday Writing Log

I told myself to do this on Wednesday before promptly forgetting 2.5 seconds later. Same story with Thursday. Looks like third time's the charm, though.

Musings under the cut

Phagophobia has a finale at last. Well, the rough draft of Phagophobia does--you know what I mean. The important part is I made something with a partially coherent beginning, middle, and end. For someone who easily falls into the trap of going back and rewriting halfway through, this feels like a win.

There will still be a wrap-up chapter, of course. I'm a little disappointed in myself that my girl Oleander is just barely showing up in that...but it's something I can rectify in the new draft. After all, a lot is bound to change.

From here, I'm moving into outlining for the rewrite. I got some decent tips that seem to work with my brain rather than force me to whip it like a cruel ringmaster cajoling a tiger to jump through flaming hoops. (Before my brain turns on and mauls me, of course.) My biggest source of writing frustration is getting struck with sudden ideas. As a pantser, I make it up as I go along. At some point, however, without fail, I get hit with an idea or three that requires a retcon of what I've already come up with. This throws me off track since if I'm building off what I made up previously...how do I keep going when some or all of that information no longer applies?

Hence, summary outlining. Or whatever the official name is--I'm sure there must be one. I'm going to just ramble about what I think happens in the rewrite. Essentially, "and then this happens, and Character A felt like this, oo then this other thing happens" etc. This registers as pantsing to my brain, with the added benefit that I'm not investing a bunch of time and energy into actually writing chapters. I can let my mind run loose from beginning, middle, and end, then start asking questions and building up details. If any major shifts occur, I can alter the outline instead of something I've already half written.

At least, that's the hypothesis. We'll find out how it fares when tested.

Aside from the wrap-up chapter and outline, I'd like to do some little what-if scenes. I have no idea whether any of them will make it into the story, but they're fun so I want to write them as a lil treat. One of these is based on that prompt going around about a human willingly submitting to vampire hypnosis. I considered casting Isaac opposite of Kinslayer, then even Ben, but settled on Renato. I'd intended to delay any serious uhhhh displays of physical affection between them until much, much later in the series. However, I think a messier, volatile relationship between them is worth exploring. Also, it can just be fun when, despite a default setting of anger and guilt, two characters want each other so badly it's embarrassing, frankly.
