[Photo of a roundish bird with an extremely long tail. It's standing on the ground, with its tail dragging behind it. The tail is about three times the length of its body, and is also very broad and curling on the sides.]

tightroping between 1950s and DnD sci-fi fantasy speak for my story, but I am absolutely keeping "sauced" as a slang word for drunk.
#it's the typical magic lost in the modernized era except no one fucking knows if it was magic from gods or real anywho we r gettin divorced#you ever think saint george and the dragon sounds like a typical fantasy story even with the religious element. and how a lot of it gets my#cized into magic.#tbis#the black indigobird's song

Little Indigobird.
I wished the little bird wasn't so distant with its own blood. She fly's away leaving it be mentally. While other little birds have a great bond.. They're happy. But its lonely. Resembles me. Just like the little indigobird.

March 27, 2022 - Village Indigobird or Steelblue Widowfinch (Vidua chalybeata)
Found in central and eastern Africa, these indigobirds live in savanna, scrubland, farmland, and towns. They eat mostly grass seeds and occasionally some termites, foraging on the ground. Males defend territories and breed with multiple females which then lay their eggs in Red-billed or Brown Firefinch nests. The chicks are raised by the firefinches and adults mimic the calls of their host species.

Who wants a songbird that has natural minor chucklevoodoos. Truly the best pet. Though they’re really quite trainable and Ullane’s in particular are well behaved.

👀 Eichio
Eichio hummed a little song to himself as he worked on putting together a playground for his new pet. Miss Wistim had entrusted him with one of her indigobirds, a parrot-like avian that possessed minor chucklevoodoos. It was a task he had dutifully accepted, but had not considered the full consequences as it turned out the bird required more attention than he had first thought.
The first night with it left Eichio highly stressed, as he had stayed at work for much longer than what the bird was used to, and when he arrived home the yellowblood found it in a state of shock. Loose feathers on the floor, seeds strewn about from it kicking up a fuss in its food tray, and its distressed cries when he walked in. The sound had made him freeze up and his heart rate spike, and as his vision felt like it was blurring and his whole body broke out into a cold sweat, all he could do was apologise profusely and beg for its forgiveness.
But when it flew over and nuzzled against his cheek, he realised that all it wanted was some attention and enrichment.
Eichio hoped the playground he bought for it would make up for his utter failure. It took up an entire corner of the lounge room, and featured multiple tiers of perches and ladders. Beaded ropes hung loosely from perch to perch, with bells dangling off them that gently chimed with the wind, and there were no shortage of swings and other fun dangly objects. When it was done, his new pet cautiously approached the structure at first, then once its safety was assured, immediately took to flying up onto one of the swinging perches.
He had not heard it chirp this cheerfully since before he became its primary carer, and it made him feel accomplished, like he had finally done something right for this bird. Maybe now he could properly name it, if he had earned that privilege?
But then, a second thought creeped into the back of his mind.
Would his lusus have loved him more if he just put in more effort like this to make it happy?
