January Devlog

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Soooo.. 2023, huh?

Seems like it's time for a devlog from yours truly, mod Chip!

PS: Sorry this is a few days late, we’ve been a biiiit busy

So, it's safe to say that the demo isn't coming out in December like we had hoped.. but we're still hard at work with finishing up the demo for you guys! Like I've said before, a late New Years present is better than nothing, ain't it? Before we get into the update, I’d like to apologize for all the delays on the demo release. From personal lives getting in the way, to changing from Godot to RPGmaker, to under estimating the work load of the demo, things have been a biiit rocky when it comes to the demo’s development. There’s been a few false alarms with the demos release, and we sincerely apologize for that. But this time, there’s no false alarms, there’s no empty promises of a demo that isn’t coming when we say it is- we’re all confident that the demo will release this month! We’ve been working our asses off, and we’re determined to get this demo in your hands by the end of the month! More than likely even sooner! We barely missed December, and now we’re working on finishing up all our work and finally having it in a state we’re happy to give to you all! Now, onto the real update: We're currently focusing on finishing up the battle system! All the UI is done, animations implemented, and a majority of the battles are fully functional! After that we're going to be putting the finishing touches on the demo, art fixes, playtesting and bug fixing, general polishing, all that good stuff! All the cutscenes for the demo, both pixel and hand drawn, have been completed already, so we shouldn't have to worry too much about those in the coming weeks as we finish up the demo! I can't say much about what's been happening behind the scenes.. but I can say that we're all very excited to show you guys a sneak peak at what's to come for Dream Trail!

Sorry this month's devlog was so short, since we're so close to release we're running out of things we can say! But this will all be worth it, I promise! As a bit of a thank you for being so patient with us, I’ll give you guys one last sneak peak before release

August Ends is a short story RPG Maker game with supernatural elements that centres around cooking. It takes place over the span of a week in late summer and follows the monotonous daily routine of a woman living alone in the woods, isolated save for her trips to an abandoned shrine deep among the trees.

Flowers for Kasumi on Itch.io!

Flowers for Kasumi was a demo that @eredoh and I (previously Nedras) released in 2017. It was developed in RPG Maker VX Ace. While Flowers for Kasumi is on an indefinite hiatus, (at least until my other project, The Doctrine of Perseverance is completed) I wanted to share this old demo as it is dear to me, and there is at least one confirmed character who is also in TDOP. Also, the RPGMaker.net download is inaccessible due to their website being down.

I have also merged the setting for both projects (This will be more noticeable once the full game for TDOP is completed): Flowers for Kasumi will take place in Noxton, some other characters in FFK will see name changes as well in the future. Other story elements from this project are subject to change in the future.

Synopsis

Flowers for Kasumi tells the story of titular girl, Kasumi, and how her life ended so abruptly. The game takes place in the fictional town of Kumashina, a small town that holds a grave secret. In the midst of fall, protagonists Isa and Omoka will unearth the secrets behind Kasumi, and the truth behind her death.

Solve puzzles and piece together the dark mystery of what happened to Kasumi Erizawa.

Disclaimer

This is a demo from 2017. The project's development halted around late 2018/early 2019. Eredoh and I were teenagers when we began, but as life got busy, it was ultimately discontinued.​ I have just returned to game development last year (2023). Flowers for Kasumi is on an indefinite hiatus until my other project, The Doctrine of Perseverance is completed.
