Readers, I am on the verge of giving up on the romance genre. I need people to recommend books that I won't hate.
Please, I'm dying. I just wanna read cute stories about love without a bunch of regressive gender stereotypes or just straight-up abuse. Is that really so much to ask??? Anyway I'm gonna list things I love and hate about the genre and perhaps some of you kind people could make some suggestions based on that?
Romances I've liked: Emily Henry's Happy Place (I actually cried at this one!); Talia Hibbert's Get a Life, Chloe Brown; Evie Dunmore's A League of Extraordinary Women series; Alexis Hall's Boyfriend Material; Casey MacQuiston's Red White and Royal Blue (although the politics in this one really turned me off the first time I read it); Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries series (a classic); Sangu Mandanna's The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches (I love a romance that has a lovable cast of supporting characters and some other elements going on beyond the love story!); Jen Wang's The Prince & the Dressmaker
Stuff I hate in romance: Most enemies to lovers (cause the most recent wave of this trope is primarily men abusing women in some way, but if you've got a suggestion that isn't that, please tell me), when Being Tall is treated as a entire personality for men, generally men being So Large and women being So Smol cause it almost always leans into weird gender shit that makes me uncomfortable, super innocent virginal girls who are almost childlike being "corrupted" by mean fuckboys, the entire dark romance genre (are you seeing the trend about things I hate... lol), Instalove (Chanel Cleeton's Next Year in Havana was SO guilty of this)
Romances I disliked/DNF'd: Abby Jimenez's Part of Your World (the female lead was insufferable!); Jasmine Guillory's The Wedding Date (some of the character work was interesting but I just got bored with the story tbh); Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan's The Royal We (just SO boring but that's what I get for reading Will & Kate fanfiction); anything that started as R*ylo fic cause they, and Twilight before them, are basically the blueprint for what I find fundamentally un-romantic about a lot of romance (I might be willing to give something by Ali H*zlewood a try, as a few Booktubers I trust have said her writing has gotten better with each new book she's published BUT the word steminist is the most cringe thing I've ever heard so maybe not)
Romances that sound interesting but I've been burned so much I just don't know: Helen Hoang's the Kiss Quotient; Beth O'Leary's The Flatshare; Lyssa Kay Adams' The Bromance Book Club; Olivia Waite's The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics, India Holton's Dangerous Damsels series, Nisha Sharma's Dating Dr. Dil
Heeeelp.

Ryan Reynolds' Career
Today's hot topic is.... guess who? Ryan Reynolds! (his career but who cares.)
Tumblr media
The charming, affable, and boyishly handsome Reynolds has made his way through everyone's hearts. His captivating personality and his witty humor never fails to amaze the crowd, be it teenagers or people old enough to be his grandmother.
HIS DEBUT ROLE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
At the young age of 15, Ryan made his debut as Billy Simpson in the Canadian teen soap opera, Hillside, in 1991. The show lasted till 1993. Along with that, his journey in Hollywood began from the movie Ordinary Magic in 1993. He played the 15-year-old Ganesh who was born and brought up in India. Hinduism and Mahatma Gandhi's teachings highly influenced his character in this movie.
(WE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING. EVEN WE'RE LOSING OUR SANITY OVER THIS!!!!!)
(Look at our lil' floatie-floatie boy <3333)
Tumblr media
Anywaaaaay.
Reynolds had a few supporting parts in films and TV shows. Because he no longer wanted to play an adolescent, he declined the role of Xander in Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003). (Terrible fate, we know.) Instead, he was cast in the ABC comedy Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place as medical student Berg (1998–2001).
His role in the comedy The In-Laws marked his entry into the world of high-budget entertainment. He had an appearance in The X-Files episode titled Syzygy. He also made an appearance as the letter 'A' in the A-Team, in the 4225th episode of the popular kids show Sesame Street.
(THIS IS OUR LITTLE ANGRY A-BOY.)
Tumblr media
Now the more exciting part,
HIS MOVIES!
When it comes to effortless charisma and wry wit, it's hard to top Canadian charmer Reynolds. But even though the Vancouver-born actor is mostly unchallenged in those categories, it took a while for him to take off as a bonafide movie star. After a decade of hit-or-miss comedies, Reynolds eventually hit the bullseye with 2016's Deadpool, marking the perfect use of his naughty humor and comic delivery.
Tumblr media
(Our top G Ryan as Deadpool *rock 'n' roll*)
Deadpool is regarded as one of the best superhero movies of all time and quickly became the highest earning R-Rated film ever, only beaten by Joker in 2019.
A few of his most adorable films include 'Definitely, Maybe' (2008), The Proposal (2009), The Change-Up (2011), and Just Friends (2005).
Tumblr media
He's got many spectacular action movies under his belt. A few of them include, The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) with top-rated co-star Samuel L. Jackson, 6 Underground (2019), Free Guy (2021), Red Notice (2021), and The Adam Project (2022).
Let's not forget his role as Harvey Kinkle (with the bad hair, ew, but he's cute so we'll take it.) in the movie Sabrina The Teenage Witch (1996).
Tumblr media
And then there are a few movies which weren't very well received by his audience. These include R.I.P.D. (2013), Amityville Horror (2005), Green Lantern (2011), and Turbo (2013).
Moving on....
AWARDS HE'S RECEIVED OVER THE YEARS.
Our gorgeous superstar Ryan has received many notable awards as his career progressed. The first ever award he received was in 2003, it was the 'Young Hollywood Award for Next Generation - Male'. Then came an award for his role in Green Lantern - 'People's Choice Award for Favorite Superhero' in 2012, even though this movie was met with conflicting reviews, Reynolds managed to win different hearts by doing what he always does. Turn his charm on. (We AREN'T complaining at all.) A huge number of awards followed his movie Deadpool, which was a major box office hit. One for Best Entertainer in a Comedy Movie, and another for Entertainer of The Year.
Tumblr media
Here's Ryan accepting the People's Icon Award at the People's Choice Awards 2022. (Look at his adorable smile, we all love him here at Ganesh Lovers' Community.)
Reynolds' has had a total of 60 nominations and 21 wins in his Hollywood career, which is actually quite a lot.
HIS PERSONAL LIFE
Childhood
Reynolds was raised in a Vancouver Irish Catholic home as the youngest of four boys. His parents were police officers and his mother worked in retail. Two of his brothers work in law enforcement, while a third is a member of the RCMP. From 1940 until 1944, his grandfather Chester Reynolds served as a legislator for Stettler, Alberta, as a member of the Social Credit Party.
Love Life
He was engaged to singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette from June 2004 to February 2007, when they called off their engagement.
Tumblr media
Ryan with Alanis.
Shortly after, Reynolds started dating actress Scarlett Johansson, with whom he married on September 27, 2008, at a resort in Clayoquot Sound, close to Ucluelet, British Columbia. In December 2010, they divorced and filed for separation.
Tumblr media
Ryan with Scarlett.
He started dating Blake Lively, his Green Lantern co-star, in 2011, and the two got married on September 9, 2012.
Tumblr media

Children
Ryan and Blake have three daughters together: James (born in 2014), Inez (born in 2016), and Betty (born in 2020). Betty’s name was publicly revealed by a close friend, Taylor Swift in her song of the same name from the album Folklore.
Tumblr media

Personal Achievements
In 2008 and 2009, People magazine ranked Reynolds as one of the sexiest men alive. He was named the magazine's sexiest man alive in 2010.
Tumblr media
He was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2011, but the event was postponed since he couldn't make it. (Kinda depressing, TBH.) The day of his official induction was October 18, 2014.
But in December of 2016, Reynolds was honored with a star of his on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Tumblr media
(They're the cutest, seriously.)
Let's move on to....
HIS CHARITY AND ADVOCACY WORK
(This is kind of lengthy, bear with us.)
He's a humble and down-to-earth man, at least from what we've heard, and with the help of his super incredible wifey Blake, they make the power duo and set foot on Earth to save a few souls here and there. Here are a few of their contributions:
A half-million dollars were given to the Canadian nonprofit Water First Education & Training Inc. in March 2022 by Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
In Vancouver, Canada, Reynolds also appeared in campaign videos sporting his recognizable "ugly" red-and-green sweater. By January 2021, according to the charity, $640,000 had been raised as a result of his fundraising efforts.
In March 2021, Reynolds and Lively gave $250,000 to a Canadian organization that mentored Indigenous youngsters, Influence Mentoring.
Reynolds and his wife had also matched donations made to Covenant House Vancouver and Toronto up to a total of $250,000 in a remarkable gesture of generosity to help youngsters who are homeless, victims of trafficking, or in danger, back when COVID-19 had first struck.
Reynolds joined The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2008 when he participated in Team Fox's New York City Marathon run. Reynolds ran the marathon in his father's memory, finishing in under four hours and raising more than $100,000 for Parkinson research.
And lastly,
HIS ALCOHOL COMPANY AVIATION GIN
As we see his posts on social media promoting his gin company:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's give you a brief history on the company and his role in it.
The goal of Aviation Gin was to develop a democratic gin blend with juniper in the background. It was formed in 2006 out of Portland, Oregon. a gin that is suitable for every cocktail. For the next ten years, it would remain mostly unknown.
Fast forward to 2018, when gin use was growing more rapidly than that of any other type of alcohol. This led to substantial changes in the sector, such as Reynolds buying a stake in the Aviation American Gin.  Reynolds is the creative director for the marketing campaign, and it is spectacularly successful (Aviation Gin is now the fastest-growing gin brand in America). How could it not? Reynold is a comic genius who conveys important messages about the quality of gin in the funniest, most approachable ways conceivable. Here's one of his advertisements for the company:
youtube
Hilarious! Are we right?!
Ah, sadly we have to end this splendid deep dive into our favorite floatie-boy Ryan Reynold's life here, but! We're not signing off without blessing your eyes with a few photos of his ;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your welcome.
Anyway, signing off, it's the dream team, Ganesh Lovers (get it?).
Adios till our next blog!

Lift up the receiver, he'll make you a believer (or a mistress)
CW: Child abuse
- The first Project, built in X’s image by the company when X wasn’t what they wanted. Previously an Administrator, becomes Head Administrator later. The oldest Project.
- Adam is everything the company wanted X to become: cold, ruthless, apathetic and bloodthirsty. His presence sends shivers up spines and hangs like a shadow over the flock even in his absence, and he lives up to the role of Murder Drone very well. His ambitions outweigh all, and his loyalty to his creator is sadly outweighed by his loyalty to the company, and he is not above hurting others to get what he wants, even his own family. He looks down on those he considers below him or weaker, and has no respect for those under his command. He also has an interest in “collecting” all the pretty young things within the flock, whether they like it or not. His power and influence usually brings them in, but those who are smart enough to refuse, well… good luck to them.
- In terms of offense, Adam has the ability to create hard light chains strong enough to snap bones and crush bodies, and commonly uses his energy as whips or to charge his claws and fangs for devastating blows. He also has the power to “monochrome” other drones, ripping out their essences and leaving only their directive, loyalty and obedience to a higher up behind. It’s how he keeps the more… rebellious members of the flock in line, and depending on how little he does it, it can also alter preexisting personalities and memories. - His red energy is cold and painful, ideal for interrogations and torture of both humans and Projects, delivering devastating and painful shocks that can leave permanent damage if nanites or biological tissue are exposed to it long enough.
- In the past, Adam was used as a hit-man by the company, and while he could never be X, he was very much a threat, stalking his targets for days, even weeks, before making his move.
- As a kid and teen, Adam had a massive rivalry with two other drones, Project Alpha (@edibletrees2) who was also built in X’s image, and India, who had a lot more power and strength than him. Adam wanted to make her his, and years later, when India mysteriously reappeared after years of absence, the company handed her over as an assigned life partner. He has no love for her and secretly relishes in the control he now holds over her, and has cheated on her frequently with a small group of mistresses he has.
- Adam’s closest friend and fellow menace is Project Eve, and the two are like Bonnie and Clyde, often seen together from the moment they met as kids. They used to run their own gang of bullies together, and while they aren’t in love, Adam’s feelings about Eve don’t exactly stop at a shallow attraction to her youthful looks and cutthroat fem fatale personality.
- He has no love for his children, and mostly takes it out on Hotel, who he views as weak yet fears will overthrow or surpass him, a pathetic, weak disappointment Adam is obligated to whip, beat and scare into an at least passable heir, and the same treatment went for 7, who he looked down upon even more due to her merely being an assigned ward, not a member of his “family”. He doesn’t think much of his daughter Iota, often turning a blind eye to most of her rebellious behavior but not above “putting her in her place”, and with Omega, he usually either pretends he doesn’t exist or treats him just as harshly as his other son. It’s rumored by the other flock members that he enjoys this cruel and often unjustified treatment, and whether or not this is true remains a mystery.
- After being exiled by X for his cruelty and lack of willingness to work with the flock, Adam agreed to help R take down X, but isn’t afraid to remind her that she only won because X was at her weakest, and that in any other situation, he would’ve left her to chase her unattainable dream. Deep down, X might be the only drone in existence who can scare Adam, and part of him both loathes her existence and holds a fearful reverence for the drone he was built in the image of but can never seem to surpass despite his best efforts. He tried to make X a mistress once and got kicked into a wall.

Like February, March was a rough month for me, although I read 10 books, a few of which I really enjoyed. On the other hand, I had two severe disappointments, The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels and High Times in the Low Parliament, which made me realize that I don’t really enjoy whimsical books!

Essays I wrote this year
If you're unsure how to write an essay or would like examples of high-scoring first-year college essays, please DM me or hit up my ask box for a link to any of these.
Fashion Politics
Prompt: Describe one article of clothing that interacts with your gender and one other social identity.
I picked my novelty earrings and how they signify my gender as a femme nonbinary person and my sexuality and how my whiteness determines how other people perceive me because of them (i.e. seeing me as retro, fun, and quirky instead of gaudy or "ghetto."). 1.5k words (5 pages).
Score: 100%
Viking Mythology
Prompt: Write a short assignment analyzing a piece of media that contains Medievalism (the utilization of Medieval elements or ideas in modern media) and how it abides by and differs from the original Norse myths, as seen in the Poetic and Prose Eddas and other course readings, such as Adam of Bremen and the Merseburg Charms.
I wrote about Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard and how it is surprisingly accurate to the original source material, with only a few creative liberties taken. The ending is a list of bullet points trying to convince my professor to read the books (he said he was interested). 887 words (about 3 pages).
Score: 100%
World Religions
Prompt: Write about how a course reading reflects a) the mythological dimension, and b) one other dimension described by Ninian Smart.
I chose Hadith 2 from Muslim scripture because I had to analyze it for a separate assignment and was already familiar with it. 914 words (3 pages).
Score: 94% (no comments describing why points were deducted, but I cranked it out in like 3 hours, so, yeah, I didn't go as deep into it as I could have.)
I also had a personal essay for this class that I will not share with anyone but my mutuals because it contains personal information.
Language In Culture
Prompt #1: Analyze a recorded interview with a friend for meta-communicative tools. The interview in question is supposed to be 10 minutes in length and the interviewer is meant to ask one of two questions.
I interviewed someone whose anonymity I will maintain by using the pseudonym "Perry." The question I chose to ask was, "What was a strong disagreement you had with a close friend?" Our conversation was about the sexism of one of Perry's friends, and I argued that she relied upon the two of us sharing the identities of being AFAB and being raised in countries colonized by Britain (the USA for me, India for her). 1.3k words (4 pages).
Score: 98%
Prompt #2: Examine non-human characters in an animated film for their voices and determine what the audience is supposed to understand about the characters through their accents, use of vernacular, vocal pitches, etc.
I looked at Zootopia and discussed the characters Mr. and Mrs. Hopps, Gideon Grey, Fru Fru, and Finnick. Specifically I examined how rhoticity (the pronunciation of the letter "r" anywhere but the beginning of the word) is used within the film in Gideon's southern accent, Fru Fru's New Jersey/New York accent, and Finnick's blaccent.
Score: 97% [deducted points for some valid reasons and also because I said "blaccent" instead of African-American (Vernacular) English (AAE or AAVE), even though a blaccent can exist outside of the context of AAE.]
Prompt #3: Essentially the same as Prompt #1, except you needed a more solid thesis (not only that the interviewee used meta-communicative devices but also why those conventions were used.)
My thesis was that "Perry made a conscious effort to make the interview conversational, with contributions both from herself and from me— in spite of the fact that interviews often have a low-involvement speech style— in order to establish camaraderie between us as individuals who were assigned female at birth (AFAB)." 1.8k words (6 pages)
Score: 96% (entirely fair point deductions; I kind of rushed this essay, by which I mean I wrote it at 3 AM the day it was due while on my prescribed ADHD meds, which I accidentally took instead of my sleep meds that night— 2/10 would not recommend. Don't do drugs, kids.)
Japanese Culture (Intro Class)
Prompt: Go crazy go stupid just write a well thought-out paper about an aspect of Japanese culture we learned about in class.
I decided to write about how religious iconography is presented in the anime Blue Exorcist because I'm lame asf. My thesis was that the use of imagery in the story is propagandist because it portrays Japan as religiously unified, which it is historically not (of course, there's a lot more nuance that I'm not going to get into and some that I frankly couldn't even discuss in the essay itself.) Including the abstract, footnotes, and bibliography, 2.5k words (7 pages of actual content).
Score: 95% (comments not provided, but I probably deserved it because there's, again, a lack of nuance.)
I wrote other papers, too, but these were the major ones. I go to a relatively prestigious state school that has a large student population, great sports and academic programs (especially for STEM, which I am not in), and a reputation for being a party school. Feel free to ask questions about my essay-writing process, about my school, or about what overall grades I got in these classes!

History And Background Of Amanita Muscaria Mushrooms
Tumblr media
Amanita Muscaria mushrooms are noted for their psychoactive properties, due to their containing the hallucinogenic chemicals ibotenic acid and muscimol. Also known as toadstools, these mushrooms have long been associated with magic in literature. The caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland is portrayed as sitting on one as he smokes his suspicious pipe, and in animated cartoons, Smurfs are seen to live in Amanita mushrooms. Of course, circles of mushrooms growing in the forest are frequently referred to as fairy rings.
It has been reported that as early as 2000 B.C. people in India and Iran were using for religious purposes a plant called Soma or Haoma. A Hindu religious hymn, the Rig Veda also refers to the plant, Soma, although it is not specifically identified. It is believed this plant was the Amanita Muscaria mushroom, a theory popularized in the book "Soma: Divine Mushroom of Immortality" by R. Gordon Wasson. Other authors have argued that the manna from heaven mentioned in the Bible is actually a reference to magic mushrooms. Images of mushrooms have been identified in cave drawings dated to 3500 B.C.
In the church of Plaincourault Abbey in Indre, France is a fresco painted in 1291 A.D. of Adam and Eve standing on either side of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. A serpent is entwined around the tree, which looks unmistakably like a cluster of Amanita Muscaria mushrooms. Could it be true that the apple from the Garden of Eden may actually have been an hallucinogenic mushroom?
Siberian shamans are said to have ingested Amanita Muscaria for the purpose of reaching a state of ecstasy so they could perform both physical and spiritual healing. Viking warriors reportedly used the mushroom during the heat of battle so they could go into a rage and perform otherwise impossible deeds.
In the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia the medicinal use of Amanita Muscaria topically to treat arthritis has also been reported anecdotally. L. Lewin, author of "Phantastica: Narcotic and Stimulating Drugs: Their Use and Abuse" (Kegan Paul, 1931) wrote that the fly-agaric was in great demand by the Siberian tribes of northeast Asia, and tribes who lived in areas where the mushroom grew would trade them with tribes who lived where it could not be found. In one occasion one reindeer was traded for one mushroom.
It has been theorized that the toxicity of Amanitas Muscaria varies according to location and season, as well as how the mushrooms are dried. Click now organic magic shrooms
Finally, it should be noted that the author of this article does not in any way recommend, encourage nor endorse the consumption of Amanita Muscaria mushrooms. It is believed that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lists Amanita Muscaria as a poison. Some companies that sell these mushrooms refer to them as "poisonous non-consumables."

Temple belongs to the congregation that pays tithe and looks after the r... The temple belongs to the congregation that pays tithe and looks after the resident Priest. That is why the Jerusalem Temple of Yahweh had a Partition. https://youtu.be/2mCvAuSdPRk Our Father requires the Royal Sacrifice of His Workers, the Apostles. Priests take tithe whilst the Royal Priests give and not take money. https://youtu.be/DBMcCMmFLFI OUR ROYAL FATHER NEEDS THE ROYAL SACRIFICE OF THE ROYAL PRIESTS THEMSELVES. This may seem odd but it is very simple. We used to have Rabbis sitting in the seat of Moses who was a Prophet in the name of Adam. So, he passed the Priesthood of Adam to the people of the Levi tribe for the sake of responsibility. If people of all the tribes become Priests in Adam, then there would be chaos and nobody would take responsibility. In India, this Priestly profession is shared by a few tribes. Sarsut, Gaur, Mohiyal, etc are some to mention. Priests as moral teachers were very proud of keeping law and order to their best ability. They were merciful Freemen of the society for they had Christ in their hearts. Adam is a Natural Man and to tame the natural men to make them noble, a manly Priest is required. When these priests were honest and devoted to God, then they served God and led people to serve God as well. An ideal Priest is defined by Jesus in Matt.13.52 as the owner of the House, Synagogue who bringth out of the store room of knowledge Treasures old, Scriptures or the moral laws, the old wine or the Milk for the Babies and New, the Gospel or the Oral Torah. As Man is the Crown of the creation of Yahweh, the god of the natural man to be copied, Moses's Priests made the blood sacrifices of living birds, animals, etc as sacrifices to deities. These birds for sacrifices were not free but to be bought. Thus, man could make the sacrifice of any animal that he could capture and kill. The meat was distributed free for consumption. The priestly profession is hereditary and if the Priest is getting old and incapable of performing the duties, then he would go to the wilderness for meditation. Some old Priests offered their own sacrifice to God stressing that they have sacrificed everything in the service of God. That is why the people of the Levi tribe performing the Priestly duties as a Cohen did not occupy immovable property such as agricultural land. People would feed them and look after them. In God, our spiritual Father, we do not have appointed Priests by men as in Adam but pre-ordained of our Father the Royal Priests. Christ Jesus was the First anointed Royal High Priest of this Dark Age when the Rabbis had become crooks and hypocrites. So, in the age of Christ, God is worshipped and people need to be the salt of the earth or the noble sons of Adam. When Christ Jesus came most of the Jews of the Judea region had become the Jews of form and rituals and not of the heart or inwardly. That is, they were unfaithful to Abraham in that Jesus had to take a Virgin Birth among the spiritually sick people of Judah tribe, the Princes, baby, of Darkness. That is why Judas Iscariot, a thief carrying the Purse, when rebuked at the Last Meal and thrown out, killed himself. In India, the people of the Khatri tribe had no degree of shame and they remained crooks siding with the Mohammedans and became staunch enemies of the houses of Nanak and Gobind. They were kings and Emperors of Darkness. So, as we the Royal Priests are not appointed by men but by our Father God, we give our own sacrifices to our Father while performing our duties of glorifying our Father. Thus, Christ Jesus presented Himself as the Lamb of God and so the other Apostles sacrificed their own lives for God. This is called carrying your own Cross and we carry it happily knowing very well our Origin and where our End will be. In God, we deal with souls and every soul in a living species belongs to God and has equal status. So, instead of presenting someone else's soul, why not present your own soul for sacrifice? So, those who Preach the Gospel do so with authority and without any fear as nobody can touch you unless your time comes. We work for our Father, He Feeds us His Word and renders Protection to His Labourers as well. This, Jesus demonstrated by telling His Labourers to stay behind in Jerusalem, the most hostile place to live. That built their confidence in God too.
