ab kal ke match ka heartfelt ramble ka waqt aaya hai honestly there's sm energy in me and it has to go somewhere, I'm gonna start off with the tournament as a whole, because some teams like Afghanistan and South Africa do deserve their appreciation as well. They both managed to do what their own teams before then failed to- playing a final and semi-final is a feat worth achieving ✨🙌🏻 and they managed to do it. We saw some good old West Indies back and that brought back a sense of childhood who had seen the likes of DJ Bravo and Chris Gayle play. Now as a fellow indian, seeing the Australian being defeated by Afghanistan and then later us 🥳 only to pin down their hope on Bangladesh- IT FELT SO SURREAL, LIKE YES BITCH CUMMINS THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING SO RUDE (and 19 Nov ka badla hum toh Aussies se bohot baar lenge, with dugna lagaan)
Ind vs Eng, was the ultimate banger for me, the whole transition from a 10 wicket loss to 10 wicket haul was just amazing!! And sometimes we Indians forget the essence of our own bowlers in our team, but this wc was all about bowlers (ours and other countries)- after the ipl bashing, this entire month must have felt so hopeful to them. We got so many players like Bumrah, Maharaja, Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq defending low scoring matches- these matches that kept us as audience on edge. What a beautiful time to be a skilled bowler!
Now coming to yesterday, as a person that had nothing against South Africa as such but only had love for India- I deeply feel sorrow for your loss. I guess, we Indians know better than anyone how it feels to win all matches and then lose the final. I believe, your captain Markram is gonna do the magic our Rohit Sharma did last night. You just have to believe in him!
And to my beautiful Men in Blue- kal toh dil jeet liya 🥹🙌🏻 Everyone had been so worked up in the entire tournament. All of 11 players deserved the world cup, especially those that had played the 19 Nov. Last night's match was taking my breath away every over, it was so suspenseful and thriller and in the words of Sidhu "yeh match nazuk dil walo ke liye nahi hai" and it definitely wasn't and Bapu tumne toh humari jaan leli kal with that over (jeet mei sab maaf hai) but thank you Sky for taking the catch which people will talk about 10 years from now and thank you Hardik for not breaking our trust in that last over (Rohit did kiss you on behalf of 1.5 billion people yesterday 😚) but more than thank you to Captain that ended the trophy draught and thank you to the Coaches! ❤️
To Rahul Dravid, who was so intense yesterday- Indiranagar ka gunda jag gaya kal full 🥹😂 but thank you so much for making us what we are!! We are going to miss you so much 🫂🥹 and to Rohit and Kohli, we aren't sure if t20i will ever be same without you.
to the indian cricket team, WE ARE SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU!! 💙🇮🇳

im gonna type out danger days stuff here
uhhh so idk what people know about it but theres like WAY too much stuff to talk about soo idk what ill do
Danger Days follows the story of a group of punks who do a bunch of crimey shit in california or smth. Party Poison likes the Ramones and this is what gets him to rejoin the Killjoys and regain the memories a group called Better Living Industries. Aka BL/ind
BL/ind is basically a group that have taken over this city, and indoctrinated everyone. There is not allowed to be individuality.
From one comic, there is a scene that stuck with me. It contributes little to the plot, however I found it intriguing.
I dont know where Id find it, but it basically was a little boy. This little boy called his mother to his bedroom, where he was looking out of the window at the stars. Upon seeing the child awake (he was perhaps 5) she freaked out and begged him to go to sleep, crying. He did a while later, not understanding why his mother was acting odd.
The next morning, his mother was gone, a new lady in his place. When he states that shes not his mother, she freaks out and says she is.
Basically, BL/ind removed this mother and replaced her, because her child was up late.
she became one of these things, a draculoid. Theyre a kind of robot, no free will, slaves to BL/ind. these things often attack the protestors.
In the second book, at the start, these things kill a member of the Ultra Vs, named Volume
(he was in the first 5 pages, and this is the only pic i can find)
After his death, i dont remember the exact quote, but a pair of genderfluid people (Vaya and Vamos, its unsure if theyre siblings or twins) say something to The Girl about why theyre not sad. I believe it links in with smth Dr Death Defying says, along with this goddess type being that i dont entirely remember
(after the Killjoys death later, the groups in the desert begin calling themselves collectively the killjoys, with mini sector type names, such as the Ultra Vs which are the end of BL/ind, 10 years later.)
The Killjoys consist of a group of punk sorta dudes, played by the band members
Jet Star, Kobra Kid, Fun Ghoul and Party Poison
and basically they protect The Girl (a 5 yr old kid)
in the music video of SING they are killed by BL/ind in an attempt to save the girl, which they do succeed, but are all gunned down.
10 years later, The Girl saves the city with an exploding cat.
(this is barely an overview, and doesnt even mention the porn bots and Destroya)
@terrencetheshark14 idk what parts you know lmao

Inde Watches “The Card Game Job”
Leverage Redemption 1x06
I have a good feeling about the title of this one. Idk why. Vibes just give og leverage and I’m excited to see if the new team is finally getting their groove
Oh gosh nvm as someone who is also on necessary medications this beginning is oof. Thankfully I’m not as impacted by drug price gouging since I just have something more common but goodness I can’t imagine how people deal with more complicated treatments.
Not the c-span where am I my grandmas house
Me too Eliot
Wow from me too Eliot but I love the Statement Parker
Oo leverage title reference
They would never let that happen Breanna
Ahhh yes you Eliot and Parker (and the rest but I live for these in sync moments)
Can Parker help me get a job I need her here
Love the androgynous look and name/ vibe (? There’s a word I’m looking for and blanking) but loving Breanna’s character rn
You are a gift Sophie
I want a castle too Parker
Breanna are you flirting? Stay focused let’s go
I’m loving Breanna’s knowledge and finding a way into the con
Eliot getting flashbacks of Hardison’s geek spirals I can’t
Dang that group shot was hot
Eliot why you gotta kill her vibe we know you’re into it
I’m cracking up at Eliot’s reactions rn the second Sophie heard king or queen and perked up Eliot’s “oh god” made me laugh so hard
Flashbacks to the shell games they’ve pulled before
Once again loving Breanna’s character
Omgggggg Harry this is your moment
Why the accent Eliot what
BUT THE GLASSES how I’ve missed them
Now you make basketball references Eliot?
Frick coming back to Nate of course you can’t walk away Sophie none of them would
Ahhhh Breanna I love your art
Parker she’s trying to share with youuuu
I keep meaning to go to a Renfaire and I still haven’t
Eliot you literally love dress up Every time you have to do it (I love his “Sophie!” Tone hahaha )
Ooo Breanna I love youuuuu
Eliot get you butt out here we don’t want people disappearing
Sophie once again stunning. Eliot I love the fit too hahahaha
WHACKING HIM IN THE FACE HAHA
Of course Sophie is the mistress of poetry
Eliot wishes it was a horse he would love that
Breanna partially running(kinda) a con while also doing a card tournament is crazy I love her
Eliot I also love you hahahaha
Oo swords he can do
I’m loving all the people at this fair
Eliot you’re such a show off I swear
Is the lady of the lake a Librarians reference for Beth
Honestly favorite moment between Parker and Harry so far
OOF BREANNA VS THE MARK
The poor beat up knights haha
Okay Eliot I too can’t wait to see if Sophie knows this one too
ELIOT HAVING SHAKESPEARE FLASHBACKS IM SCREAMING
This man looks tired
That breeze on Sophie was a paid actor
Honestly beautiful sonnet and clue
OH WHAT A SLAY OF A REVEAL
Me too Harry when Eliot fights like that
Goodness my heart Breanna
THE PRIDE ON THE OTHERS FACES AT HER SPEECH AHHH
HE GAVE HER THE CARD
“Ive already lost six cool points just by hanging with you guys tonight” Eliot with that statement alone believe me the cool points were already gone who says cool points hahaha
Once again his grumbling giving me flashbacks to his preferences for games with “skill” then ending up liking it anyways but never wanting to say so
#I loveeddd this episode#I knew I would#it def gave og leverage vibes#and was so heartfelt!#I do think the reveal could have been better#wasn’t much of the marks own Hubris that got him#kinda but then they just found files and called the fda?#but they did solve cons that way before#the ending was so beautiful though#leverage redemption#inde watches leverage redemption#inde watches#the card game job

SEE A PATTERN? FORWARD AND TO THE LEFT, PLEASE...
*JUST SO WE’RE CLEAR, I SPENT AN AFTERNOON WATCHING FAUX NEWS (SHUDDER) AND RECORDING ALL OF THE THINGS THAT REPUBLICANS SAY KILL JOBS, AND THEN DID THE RESEARCH TO SEE IF ANY OF THEIR CLAIMS HOLD UP IN THE REAL WORLD.
WHAT I FOUND WAS THAT THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE. IN FACT, THOSE COUNTRIES WHICH TOOK THESE POLICIES TO THE FURTHEST EXTREMES ALL SEEMED TO OUTPERFORM THE US WHEN IT COMES TO EMPLOYMENT.
SO I CREATED A SURVEY OF ONLY THOSE COUNTRIES, EXCLUDING ANY THAT DID NOT FIT ALL OF THE CRITERIA. FOR EXAMPLE, I EXCLUDED BELGIUM, BECAUSE, EVEN THOUGH THEY FIT MOST CRITERIA, THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL RECORD IS ACTUALLY WORSE THAN OURS, HOWEVER, IN CASE YOU WERE CURIOUS, THEIR UNEMPLOYMENT RATE WAS STILL LOWER.
I ALSO FOUND THAT THEY BEAT US WHEN IT CAME TO EVERY OTHER SOCIAL MEASURE I COULD THINK OF...?
Actually, North American unemployment stats are pretty misleading and don't report the real jobless rate and the poverty it creates.
http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/unemployment-charts
For example, European countries measure their real unemployment far more honestly and comprehensively than the US [which is what I'm referring to. Bill Clinton had the long-term unemployed removed from the Dept Of Labor's stats in 1994]
For example, in France now the official jobless rate is 7.2%—that’s quite a bit higher than the US, which has an official rate of 3.4%.
However, France, like Italy and Germany, which all have a 35-hour regular work week, consider anyone working less than 11 hours a week to be unemployed, and adult full-time post-secondary students training in a recognized profession are considered part of the work force and therefore unemployed as well—in addition to employable welfare recipients.
http://tinyurl.com/2exnpzx http://www.eurofound.europa.eu/.../feature/fr0103138f.html https://www.eurofound.europa.eu/publications/article/2001/unemployment-rate-falls http://tinyurl.com/34yk4e4
The US does not include students and has no minimum hours provisions in its calculations. By these standards, if you worked, even an hour in a week during the federal survey, you’re considered employed. If you didn’t work and hadn’t looked for a job in four weeks, you’re not considered part of the work force. Non-disabled adult welfare recipients and the huge chronic poor populations, especially in urban areas, aren’t considered either. Canada is similar.
So if you apply US-style measures to France, the rate turns out to be 3.4%. Now, if you apply French measures to the US, the rate jumps to a whopping 24.6%—that’s largely because of the huge under-employed low-paid part-time work force in the US, and the huge number of employable welfare recipients and chronic poor.

gaging interest for a fic
thinking abt writing a danger days/watch dogs 2 crossover fic. basically dr death ends up sending out a sort of sos radio signal after finding out about dedsec and the crew intercepts it and travels to the zones to help take down bl/ind and battery city. this would be post fab four and during california,, i imagine they'd end up meeting the girl and the vs through cherri cola (or dr death if it's pre val killing him) and sort of working alongside the girl to help take battery city down. anyone lmk if the premise sounds interesting enough to do??? i don't know how many people are fans of both watch dogs and danger days but i had a vision so

i have standards to which international cricket teams i support (none of them when they go against india ofc). for example,
NZ - i like them, cute, i want them to win a tournament soon but also no bc 2019 made me cry
AUS - makes me want to kms every five seconds when they go against india but they're so good u have to respect them (also im kinda obsessed with pat cummins so take of that what you will) but also travis head jfc
WI - so cool. so many legends so cool im so excited for their comeback
PAK - the pakistan/india rivalry is bs we're all desi at the end of the day but i want to go to a pak. vs. ind match just for the vibes bc u know the fans will go all out (india better win)
SL - they're cool, i like malinga, also lowkey i want to see sl and ban. go again. just to see what would happen
BAN - same as above, they're cool
SA - Also sooo good i have to respect them but still no
AFG - so cute i support them always (non india games ofc)
NED - cuties im excited to see them grow
USA - very curious to see cricket's rise in the us but also i need to look at the players more bc if i was on the us team i would be supporting india no matter what im curious to see the idols of these players
CAN - same as USA let's be fr i don't really know either team
IRE - whatever happens here england loses so i win either way, excited
ENG - you will never ever get me to support them. hate them on principle may they be last in every icc tournament

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
May 9, 2024
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
MAY 10, 2024
Last night, 163 Democratic representatives joined 196 Republicans to stop far-right Republicans from removing House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor Greene led the effort to remove Johnson, but her motion received only 43 votes: 32 Democrats and 11 Republicans. Twenty-eight representatives either did not vote or voted present.
Greene promptly excoriated the “uniparty,” saying that “the Democrats now control Speaker Johnson. That was something that everybody’s suspected all along. They just voted to save him.”
But the majority of the House Republican conference appears to be tired of the chaos in their ranks that has made this Congress one of the least productive in American history. Jordain Carney and Olivia Beavers of Politico reported today that House Republicans who are not aligned with Greene and her cohort want to change House rules to create punishments for the extremists who keep stopping House business by, for example, voting against letting bills come to the floor of the House.
Greene and Thomas Massie (R-KY), her main ally in trying to oust Johnson, urged their colleagues to bring it on. Massie said that anyone trying to stop them was going to “take an ass-whooping from their base.”
Since the 1990s, right-wing media hosts have directed the Republican base, telling them what to think and urging them to put pressure on Republican lawmakers to do what the media hosts wanted. Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh was so influential in the 1990s that when Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in 1995 for the first time since 1954, they made him an honorary member of their incoming congressional freshman class. And what Limbaugh did for radio, Fox News Channel hosts like Bill O’Reilly did for television.
But Limbaugh died in February 2021, and after the Fox News Channel (FNC) had to pay a $787 million settlement to Dominion Voting Systems for the lies the network’s hosts told about the company’s voting machines in the 2020 election, it let go of main host Tucker Carlson. There are indications that FNC founder and former chair Rupert Murdoch hoped to center Republican messaging around young activist Charlie Kirk, but Kirk has slid into MAGA extremism, too.
The Republican extremists no longer have a centralized messaging center. Instead, as CNN’s Oliver Darcy noted today, Murdoch’s outlets themselves—the Fox News Channel, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post—stood behind Johnson.
Yesterday, FreedomWorks, the right-wing organization that was backed by the Koch family at its start in 2004 and that was behind the Tea Party movement, abruptly shut down. FreedomWorks attacked Democratic measures for business regulation and social welfare because it embraced libertarian principles. Its revenue had dropped by half since 2022, its president, Adam Brandon, told Luke Mullins of Politico. But in the end, what did the organization in was the party’s split over Trump.
That split was crystal clear in Tuesday’s Republican primary election in Indiana. Trump won that election, but with only 78.3% of the vote. Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who suspended her campaign in early March and has not campaigned since, won 21.7%.
Before the Indiana primary, on May 2 political statistician Tom Bonier debunked the idea that Haley’s support came from Democratic-leaning voters flooding the primary vote to hurt Trump. Crunching the numbers in North Carolina showed that Haley voters there “were not substantially younger than the GOP voters (41% over 65 vs 45% among reg[istered Republicans]). They were overwhelmingly white (94% of Ind[ependent]s vs 97% of [Republicans]), and were actually more likely to be men (51% of Ind[ependent Republican] primary voters vs 50% of [Republicans]).” In short, he wrote, “[e]very indicator suggests these Independents voting in [Republican] primaries are more likely [Republican] voters. They just don't like Trump.”
Political commentator Chris Cillizza today called attention to the numbers that landed before Tuesday. On March 12, Haley won 13.2% of the vote in Georgia (or 78,000 votes). On March 19 she won 17.8% of the vote in Arizona (111,000 votes), 3.9% of the vote in Florida (155,000 votes), and 14.4% of the vote in Ohio (161,000 votes). On April 2 she won 12.8% of the votes in Wisconsin (77,000 votes). And on April 23, Haley won 16.6% of the votes in Pennsylvania (158,000 votes).
If Biden picks up even one in five of these votes, Cillizza noted, “it matters bigly.”
Three high-level Republicans this week told media they would not vote for Trump, helping to pave an off-ramp for other Republicans. Former House speaker Paul Ryan told Yahoo Finance that he would write in another Republican rather than vote for Trump. “Character is too important to me,” he said.
Cassidy Hutchinson, former aide to Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, also cited character when she said she would not vote for Trump. “I’ve never voted for a Democrat in my life, but I would absolutely consider voting for Joe Biden this upcoming November because he will not seek to destroy our nation [or] our Constitution, and he has the statesman character that we need in an elected official.”
Georgia’s former lieutenant governor Geoff Duncan went further on Monday night, endorsing Biden, whom he had called in an op-ed a “decent person I disagree with on policy,” over Trump, whom he described as “a criminal defendant without a moral compass.” “Sometimes the best way to learn your lesson is to get beat, and Donald Trump needs to get beat. We need to move on as a party. We need to move on as a country,” he said.
Meanwhile, as Khaya Himmelman noted in Talking Points Memo, MAGA Republicans are already blaming a potential loss in 2024 on illegal voters. On Wednesday, Speaker Johnson and other Trump Republicans held a press conference to promote their new bill to make it illegal for people who are not U.S. citizens to vote in federal elections.
This is a political stunt: It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections, and there is no evidence that this is happening. In 2017, Trump created a commission to root out the illegal voting he claimed had affected the 2016 election; less than a year later, he disbanded it when it could find no evidence of his claims. Johnson admitted there was no evidence of voting by undocumented immigrants when he told reporters: "We all know, intuitively, that a lot of illegals are voting in federal elections. But it's not been something that is easily provable. We don't have that number."
Pulitzer Prize–winning author T.J. Stiles retorted: “People terrified of contact with government because they don’t want their lives destroyed by deportation don’t register to vote illegally and then vote illegally for the reward of having a tiny tiny influence on federal electoral outcomes.”
For his part, Trump appears to have tried a more direct approach to reelection. According to Josh Dawsey and Maxine Joselow of the Washington Post, last month at Mar-a-Lago, Trump told about two dozen top oil executives that if they gave him $1 billion to get reelected, he would immediately reverse the environmental regulations the Biden-Harris administration has put into place and stop any new ones. A $1 billion gift would be a “deal,” according to Trump, because the tax cuts he plans to enact and the regulatory cuts would be worth far more than that. Since then, Ben Lefebvre wrote yesterday in Politico, oil executives have been drawing up executive orders that Trump can sign as soon as he takes office.
Yesterday, in an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett, President Biden said the U.S. would continue to supply defensive weapons to support the Iron Dome over Israel, but it would not send offensive weapons to Israel if it went forward with its controversial invasion of the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, where more than a million Palestinians have taken shelter from Israeli strikes. The administration has publicly opposed that invasion since Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced it. “If they go into Rafah, I'm not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah,” Biden said. “Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers.”
Trump and other Republicans promptly accused President Joe Biden of “taking the side of these terrorists, just like he has sided with the Radical Mobs taking over our college campuses.”
“We’re not walking away from Israel’s security,” Biden told Burnett. “We’re walking away from Israel’s ability to wage war in those areas.

How the World Fell Under Darkness: A Zones Timeline
In brief format. Hits the major events, skips so much of the daily tragedies.
50s — post World War II relations and recovery
60s — the Cold War of intelligence and counterintelligence, fear campaigns; the arms race keeps everyone afraid of each other on a global scale
70s [diverging point from actual history]— the conflict goes hot, the world goes ugly; in America, only two large settlements survive the bombings, near LA in the west, and a fortress in the south- Better Living establishments which were protected from the damage in advance, seeing as they built a large number of the weapons used (by both sides)
1980-1984 — radiation is scrubbed from choice locations in the east, and Empire is founded, establishing a port for BL/ind's relations with other surviving entities
1985-1989 — following a health crisis in the south, the Analog Rebellion begins in Fort F.I.S.K. and spreads as people break free of the fort, skirting through what habitable land remains, and group together; the idea catches, and as the numbers of resistance climb, both Battery and FISK are cornered into retaliating
1990-1994 — rebellion continues, escalating into mass casualties on both sides- casualties no one can afford, in a world already post global war
1995-1999 — tenuous ceasefire is declared; it's not peace, but it's not war. the cities build walls, closing themselves in, and those that left the settlements are abandoned to the wilds to eke out whatever life they can without aid from Better Living
2000-2004 — the lands surrounding FISK backslide, and become entirely uninhabitable or navigable without specialized equipment; Empire City receives its first "transfer" from beyond the cities
2005-2009 —the zones around Battery begin to experience more regular patrols and tensions between city folk and desert folk fray
2010-2011 — Better Living develops ReEducation; patrols and raids into the desert become more violent in nature, and zone folk are disappearing (not killed, just gone)
2012 — a series of fire storms -"The Fires of 2012"- start west of the city and sweep the zones all the way to the Fort; both sides experience minimal casualties, but lots of structural and food supply damages
2013 — widespread unrest in the zones and a significant amount of infighting; recovery efforts in the city and a significant amount of infighting
2014 — The Collapse -a yet unexplained mass casualty event- takes place in zone five to the northeast of Battery City, effectively reducing the population of the zones by a third; more die off in the months afterward of bizarre afflictions and injuries, often going mad in the process. the city blames disease, spreading it as anti-zones propaganda among citizens; the desert creates the Destroya mythos
2015 — the Fabulous Four, though only teenagers, begin to become notorious, making their fame by pushing back violently as Better Living begins to expand its reconstruction efforts in zone one, seeking to reclaim it as part of the city
2016 —killjoys get bold, and the city suffers a sudden unbalancing as a large number of young people find ways into the desert; in-city raids, especially of lower districts, become common as BL/ind cracks down on smugglers and introduce new security measures to the walls surrounding the city
2017 — the Fabulous Four are declared public enemies 1-4. Exterminator Korse is assigned to end the threat
2018 — everyone on the edge of their seats as Korse and the Fab Four are locked in a power struggle that becomes the embodiment of city vs. desert; almost all other directly physical city/desert confrontation has ceased, except in service of aiding their champion(s). Dr Death's broadcasts updating listeners on the events of fights and escapes are the most listened to thing on both sides
2019 — the Fabulous Four destroy the eastern checkpoint, storm the city, and decimate the S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W headquarters before, ultimately, falling in battle; all for one little girl. they become Martyrs.
2020 — the dark year. Better Living seems inescapable, the killjoys are scattered and scared, and a great many are killed or disappear into reEd. some return to the city without being captured. those who remain are more certain than ever they can never give in. despite killjoy interference, parts of zone one are annexed into the city
2021 — the Fab Four reappear in the zones. some say they were never killed after all, a few become suspicious they are reEd's, or android dupes of the originals, but by and large the mythology of their martyrdom lends to another explanation altogether: they've been brought back to life by the desert itself to lead the fight. they are solidified as the Heights of killjoy fame, bulletproof and lauded, even outright worshiped by some; hope returns
2022 — there are several building collapses and series of fires in the newly expanded Neon District; rumors of a rogue city agent as well as stories about Perro -a mythical figure from the zones- being responsible both go flying in all directions. nobody's really sure what happened, other than that a lot of citizens and neutrals died (that is, nobody publicizes what actually happened)
2023 — as part of their recovery efforts, the city attempts to smooth relations with neutrals and claim land in the zones, establishing several greenhouses almost literally overnight; in answer, most are destroyed by the killjoys, the two left standing are claimed by rebel crews and renamed into independent settlements
2024 — emboldened by the destruction of the greenhouses, a killjoy leader of a particularly violent group attacks the city directly; the city retaliates, destroying a peaceful settlement in zone three. both sides are criticized by their allies, the resulting unrest spans both city and zones
2025 — the Destroya Rampage unfolds. zone five and parts of six go dark, nothing but static on every radio for months. entire crews from both sides (local killjoys & investigative excursions from the city) are lost, seeming to turn on their own while within these 'dark zones'. several massive dust storms sweep over Battery City and the surrounding zones, causing blackouts and widespread interference with broadcasts and electronic systems of every type. fighting between the city and desert scales back as the environmental conditions threaten everyone
2026 — the sandstorms are replaced by torrential downpours (which sounds good but isn't, in the desert), some of which are typical rain and some of which burn on contact- relatively normal in the outer zones, but unheard of in the city. city initiatives focus on re-assuming relative control over the city's climate, desert settlements focus on surviving.
2027 — weather patterns gradually begin to stabilize in the city; in the desert, old secrets -uncovered by the winds and rains- begin to surface. whether they lead a new charge against the city or destroy the fragile balance of the desert . . .
2028 — . . . Remains to be seen. The whispers gather, but don't seem to go anywhere. Things have gone still and quiet -as still and as quiet as they get, anymore- and the only sure about a staring contest is that someone has to blink, eventually. something will shift, everyone's waiting for it, waiting to see which direction the world tilts this time
2029-2030s — You Are Here. Don't panic. Keep running.

hey! I wanna ask one thing, did you watch the highlights of the India vs Pakistan match from the 2022 t20 world cup? considering Ind vs Pak is today, star sports was showing the highlights of the 2022 T20 again. So the 2022 match, held at Melbourne, is hands down one of the biggest nailbiters in cricket history, and features a famous rescue act by Virat Kohli. He top-scored with 82 not out in a chase of 160, which enabled us to win the match by 4 wickets. And we had got off to a horror start, we were something like 40/4 at a point, and we weren't even near to the required run rate. That was when Virat and Hardik combined for a vital partnership. I remember that match crystal clear, India needed 22 from 8 balls, Haris Rauf was bowling, and Virat hit him for two successive sixes. The first of those sixes was just sublime and like, unreal, and was officially voted the ICC shot of the century. Not the year, not the decade, the whole damn century. 🤯🤯🥹🥹
So I was thinking of how this match would happen in Omegaverse, or more specifically how it would help improve public reaction to omegas playing. With Virat open and out omega, and his six being voted as the ICC shot of the century, people would be kinder to the idea of omegas in cricket, wouldn't they? Also, in my headcanon, Hardik is also an omega-- a bit like Stu, he's in hiding, pretending to be an alpha, despite VK's debut, because BCCI made it pretty loud and clear that Virat was a special case, and other omegas shouldn't expect the same privileges extended to them. So Hardik, just like Stu, is taking pills to conceal his identity and like Stu, conforming to a hyper-alpha lifestyle he doesn't subscribe to, but follows for fear of letting himself out accidentally. But Hardik has also come out as omega by the time this iconic match happens. So imagine this now: your team is in major trouble, both your openers (kl Rahul and rohit in this case), are gone, Suryakumar Yadav, the number one ranked batter in t20s has gotten out, and Axar Patel, the sole left-hander in your lineup has gotten run out in a terrible mix-up. Who's left now? Virat and Hardik. Two omegas, who despite their achievements can't seem to earn the kind of respect and awe that playing alphas do. These two omegas end up stitching together a partnership that takes us over the line against our arch-rivals in an utter humdinger. Pure cinema. 🤌🏻
Aww I really like that - and yeah Stuart isn't an exception; there's quite a few players around the world posing as alphas when they're really omegas.
The opinion of omegas will be much better come 2022, but they'll probably be an undertone of 'two omegas can't get this over the line' when it goes down to it. I don't think it's like the turning point because, as I said, omegas are much more accepted and respected by this time, but it'll definitely have positive effects
