Having Sad Winter Thoughts

So wanted to reminisce about an event that I've always kept close to my heart concerning my late mother (tho she didn't play much of an active part, tbh!)

She was a collector (hot wheels, barbies, Peanuts merch... and a variety of collectable trading cards that circulated before I was born), and she always encouraged my brother and I to keep what we had in good condition because "it could be worth something later". And back before we could make our own money and when she'd buy us anything collectable, like our Pokemon cards, she'd ask us for any Repeats to keep for herself.

I always remembered the old Lego-like wipes box (Chubs Stackables, its called) that she used to keep her Pokemon cards in because of a story that I never forgot.

Pokemon came to America when i was seven, and Cards came out shortly afterward. Us kids were understandably nuts about it, so much so that I still remember an announcement in my elementary school that was banning them outright on school grounds, stereotypically pronouncing them as "Pokey man cards."

We lived in a cul de sac at the time with a bunch of other military families (dad was in the airforce). It was very Ed Edd n Eddy where we knew and interacted with a lot of the kids, and their parents were more a Concept than a reality. So of course, when fads hit, it swept through the street like wildfire. We all were into pokemon.

Even as a seven year old, baby Verzi had her "White Whales" when it came to collecting, cuz the thing I actually want is never easy to get apparently!

For those who were there, you'd remember that the first 151 pokemon were released in 3 sets (Base, Jungle, and Fossil). And in Jungle, my favorite pokemon ever and forever, Butterfree, was released! It was uncommon, so surely, it wouldnt be too difficult. find, right?

It took me a good year or so to find, and it drove me fucking insane because when you're little, any small amount of time feels like an eternity!!! But the point of this story takes place earlier. One of the neighborhood kids, an older one who was probably 10-12ish. had an extra butterfree. I coveted it and wanted to trade. He asked for my rare, non-holo Nidoqueen (some rares had holo and non-holo versions. Just to be extra mean. Always remember trading cards are an evolutionary stepping stone to bad gacha games!).

But!! I only had one of those.

But x2!!! I remembered I pulled a duplicate and gave it to my mother.

So i had one of those moments after-school specials had. "Am I gonna steal from my kind and hardworking mother to fulfill my Greedy Little 7/8 year old fantasies??" The answer was yes, though it took a lot of back and forth because back when my mother was younger, she had eyes like a hawk for anything out of place. This woman made sure no one went into her shit in her room. Luckily, she kept her card box in a place that was easily accessible outside (the kitchen counter).

So i went into her blue, little box and took the Nidoqueen I had given her, and made the trade.

I was happy for a good bit, and the butterfree looked so beautiful in my 3 ring card binder! but then the guilt set in. It was crippling.

It only took a couple days before I couldn't take it anymore. So I went back to Older Neighborhood kid. Luckily, Older Neighborhood Kid was cool and let us trade backsies.

Then I secretly slipped the Nidoqueen back into my mom's collection box.

I am 95% sure she never found out, as she wasn't keeping a detailed log of the cards, but I always felt this was a character defining point for me. 😏

I thought about this recently, because in another fit of I Miss my Mom, I had actually found her old card collection box and spent some time going through it.

Unfortunately, the Nidoqueen of my Memory was not present. It could've disappeared for any number of reasons, as it has been ~25 years, several moves, and other events that caused a lot of my mom's stuff to disappear or be thrown away...

But at the very bottom, i found this.

So either I or my brother was able to get her butterfree at some point. 😌 (actual jungle set too! look at the little flower at the bottom right of the card art~)

I honestly have no idea where my own pokemon card collection is. My younger cousins raided and stole a lot of them back when i was in high school, and it never recovered. But I do not know where the remnants are. I'm still in the years-long process of getting through all of the stuff in my apartment and I'm hoping I come across it.

But I'm happy to know i have this card though. My mom's butterfree.

so this is a really good question that i’m really happy to answer. though i’m extremely open about my own tastes, preferences, likes/dislikes as a fat person, remember that i’m by no means a representative for what all fat people enjoy during sex and it is 100% okay to be uncomfortable with having your stomach touched or seen during sex. some of my fat friends don’t like having their stomach touched during sex because they either feel it’s almost fetishizing or because they’re just not at a point in their self-image journey to be touched there, and both of these reasons are totally okay!!!! not being okay with having a certain part or parts of your body touched during sex is a 100% natural feeling to have and there’s absolutely no weakness in wearing lingerie/shirts/etc that cover your stomach during sex; i’ve always hated the idea that wearing a shirt in the pool or during sex etc is something to be mocked bc why would you taking measures to help yourself feel more comfortable ever be embarrassing?

part of my inspiration for including things like belly grabs during sex in my fics is 50% to convey the idea that every single body part of yours is just that— a body part— and that having your tummy touched is really no different than having your chest or your ass touched even if a stomach isn’t generally seen as a “sexual” body part. i like this sort of body neutrality stance where you don’t have to love every single part of you— i don’t love my back or my ass, for instance— and that just accepting your body as your body and accepting every part of it for what it is is a more realistic goal for some than loving every part of your body.

the other 50% is a more explicitly body positive stance where (character) touches your belly bc they love you and love every part of you and your belly’s no different! i suppose what i’m trying to say is that you may find it more obtainable to view your belly through a neutral lens of “it’s just another part of my body” rather than traditionally-body positive lens of “i love my belly” because neither perspective is any weaker or more “incorrect” than the other. and like i mentioned above, wearing lingerie or sweaters or smth that cover your tummy during sex while you work with your thoughts towards your tummy are 100% a valid means of ensuring your own comfort.

i think it might be worth having a conversation w your partner about your feelings and how you don’t feel comfortable/ready/etc to have him touch you there. tons and tons of people have limits on where they’re touched during sex and how they’re touched during sex so asking to not have your stomach touched isn’t any different and you shouldn’t feel embarrassed about it! also experiment with different outfits that cover your tummy during sex, my boyfriend really likes a simple turtleneck + skirt combo so definitely play around with different lingerie, costumes, etc that cover you there if you think that’s what’s best for you. otherwise, having that boundary about your body established with your partner is super important and the convo is definitely worth having.

A slight calorie deficit is Not the Same Thing as starvation, every professionelle Trainer and every doctor that I ever Spoke to can Tell that. Lets say you need around 2000 calories a day, If you only eat 1800 calories, (epending in your current weight) U will be able to lose 1 kg per week. None of that hast anything to do with starvation.

The Person above is right in the Sense that actuall prolonged starvation (for me that would be 900 calories or less) has all these negativ effects on the Body (obviously) but saying that a recommend daylly calorie deficit has the effects is simply incorrect.

When I was 14 I weighed 130 kg at 175 cm tall.

Being that weight has Had horrible effects on my Joints, my Heart, bloodpressure, skin, and even my mental state.

I started going at 1800 calorie deficit with Jogging every day and went down to 75 kg,

This "diet" (wich it wasnt in the traditionelle Sense, it was simply a Lifestyle Change)

Has Had only positive effects and None of what OP described.

Its Just as unhealthy as being underweight.

You have no clue if he will remember all this or not but you just hope he won't be mad at you or think of you weirdly for this. You just wanted to give him ur affection after all (like you've been craving to do all this time before this whole duck fiasco)

(Aventurine does remember.... everything in fact. His whole mental state was something akin to being hit with a stupidnator beam, turning his brain mush to something free of thoughts that might hold him back to do things. If he wants to eat that whole bag of duck food he will cause that's what he wants to do rn and he doesn't have the mental capacity to think about it further.)

Something something you (very awkwardly) turn back to ur own lifes until you are put on a mission together and something gets Aventurin to confess that, yes, he does in fact remember everything.

Something something happy ending for these fools (shouldn't. I hate them. *incorrect buzzer*) they confess and talk it out. Aventurine suggests having a bath together again and Ratio rolls his eyes exasperated.

They cuddle in the bath and Aven says something snarky that makes Ratio say "I think I liked having a bath with your duck version way more" and Aventurine says "By how many pictures I remember you took of me as a duck I don't doubt you liked me I was all feathers"

"....Nous give me strength ughhh" *puts head in hands*

Aventurine lets out a laugh that sounds so melodic, angelic and true that you can't help but thank the universe it let you two meat and faith allowed you to be his lover and have his love, laugh and everything that is the man you have fallen for.

and you of course have to rain on his parade cause you can't let him have the win by reminding him of how he ate that whole bag of duck food and had to burn those calories down after he turned back 🤭
